Josephine, I will put you down for the Butterfly Ginger, and would love a start of your Western Ironweed.
Texas Roundup TRADING LIST
TARogers....I have a few different passion vines I could take cuttings from:
Lady Margaret
Incense
Granadillo
caerulea (I believe)
I do have some cacti and succulents, most are pretty small though. I had some bigger ones but left all the big plants back in OH when I moved last year. I'm looking forward to next year when I should actually have some good things to offer people.
:) Kim
Maggiemoo,
Do you still have Cat's Whisker's, Laura Bush, Milkweed, and Saliva Madrensis left? If so, please take a look at my list back just a dozen or so, and let me trade with you.
LOUDIGGER I want the VITEX tree! I have been wanting one of those for years! Oh Kim I feel the same way, I am going to save allmy little Hosta pots and start cuttings and propagations. I feel so terrible that I dont have much to offer. My problem is I dont have any place to keep them ... maybe I can buy one of those little plastic greenhouses.
Sylvia
Oh my I guess I miss the Vitex! Shelia, there is a Vitex bush up there on Maple. It use to be this beautifu Vitex tree. Anyway the house caught fire and they tore it down and chop the tree down, but it comeback in full force. Mitch told me to go down there and dig it up. If anyone ask me what I am doing, I will simply say "I am trying to save the tree"! LOL! So I am going down there with my pitchfork, pull one of the homeless off the street, give him a dollar or two and have him dig it up! LOL
Sylvia
Go Sylvia Go!
Cj, what happened to your picture? Or is it just me?
BTW can somebody tell me how to get cuttings from this orchid cactus? Do I break it off at a joint or cut it before the joint?
LOL Shelia if i get it, I will share!
Mitch did you see the post with the pic of the grass? see April 16, 9:14 :)
Sylvia
Just bring the branches Marylee I will show you how to cut it! :)
Unlike some people I cut mine in 3 to 4 inch pieces and root them in water and then plant them. If they are too long, they are awkward to to deal with ... plus you get more starters. a new DG buddy told me she paid 12.00 on Ebay for a three inch piece! I think i am going to retire and sell Hostas on Ebay. lol
sylvia
My Goodness CeeJay! That Cardoman look like a Hosta or am I seeing the right thing? I would love a piece of that big green plant in the pic! :)
Sylvia
Sylvia - I did see it - very nice looking good you are going to have a whole garden on there. Mitch
BTW I just added Russian sage to my Haves list. I thought I had it on there already. Does anybody want some of this?
Who was it that wanted my Aztec Gold daylilies? I forgot to add that to my list.
I also have some compact abelia.
No Mitch, that is for you! Thats the Grass my buddy from Nebraska sent me that I thought was a goner. Do you still want it?
Sylvia
I sure do!!! When can I get it!!
How is the Yellow Blossom Banana doing?
Anybody got Blood Lilys? :)
That would be one big hosta, Sylvia! It's around 3 feet tall. I will be glad to give you a piece.
I don't know what is up with the photo. I went to the ID forum and my photo and several others over there are doing the same thing. I'm glad it's not just me. I've been trying to redo my computer settings, thinking it was my problem. Is it a davesgarden problem, I wonder? Is anyone else having trouble getting the photos to show up?
Mitch arent you coming to the RU?
Cj, what is the epiphyllum like that you have? I read about one that's supposed to be easy and compact, but can't remember which one that was. My greenhouse is shrinking! Too many plants and too little space!
Mary Lee
Thanks Ceejay...dont worry about the pic. everybody gets a fluke once in a while. Just last night I learned you can only recharge batteries so much before they actually quit on you! lol I was so worried ... I cant live w/o my camera.
Sylvia
Easy and compact? hmmm The cereaus is easy as it gets. lol
Check your email Sylvia!
Cj, what can you tell me about the black princess taro? Like how big does it get and how fast does is multiply? Does it need to be wet in the winter or dry?
Sylvia... you are too funny! But if you manage to get a piece or two, please do share! LOL!
Mary Lee....The leaves, like Sylvia said are usually cut in 3" pieces and rooted. I just put mine in the soil like other cactus. Leave about a half inch on the plant and it will shoot sprouts from that to regenerate your plant.
BACK to trade stuff...
Mary Lee... Do you still have a Tx Star Hibiscus that I can trade for?
Patrob....Can I get a Salvia 'Indigo Spires' if you have another left? Oh, and your pink Obedient Plant. I have the purple one, it needs a friend. LOL! I have garden art and plants listed now.
Betty Dee...... I would love to trade for a rooted Brug cutting, take a look at my list.
Throneofyord.... Please pick something from my post and put me down for one each of your Barret Strawn, Scarlet Lady, & Bayou Tiger iris. I have a pond and plan to put a bog near by also. I only have the darker purple now.
Please everyone that I mentioned...Look at my posts 20 or so back, and let me know what I can put your name on.
Sheila, I got you down for Tx star hibiscus. I have a total of 18 of these, so I hope more people want some.:) I only need one.
I'll cut the orchid cactus next week and bring them in a paper sack or something. Sheila, do you need any variegated grass? or pennywort?
Mary Lee, I think you are talking about the var. sweet flag? If so I have that, but I will take Pennywort. Let me know what your name will go on.
I had added my plant items to my list tonight. But I want to make sure everyone saw the garden toppers and flowers that were in the last picture on my diary.
OK, y'all. Now I getting very, very confused!
Silverfluter, The black princess taro gets about 24 inches tall. It moves underground (tubers) and by seed. It likes it wet, but does just fine with regular water. I really don't think you can kill it. Well, I don't know about hard freezes....I used to be zone 8b, but "they" changed us to zone 9a about a year ago. We will occasionally get down to 26, but it is rare, and just a dip. So far. The epiphyllum is strictum. It is a wild looking thing, but when it blooms - zowie. It is a night bloomer. I keep it in a big pot, and take it into the basement in the winter. I don't think it can withstand freezes. I can't say it is compact - the leaves get about 30 inches long.
I can post pictures of both. Is it OK to do that on this forum, or should I post them elsewhere?
Sheila, no I was talking about a variegated grass that we have. It's very pretty, about maybe 10 " tall, spring green with a white or cream midrib. It doesn't flower. Gets full sun in our pond and loves it. I'll try to get a picture of it tomorrow.
I'll put your name on Pennywort.
Cj, sure you can post pictures here. I'm thinking about the epiphyllum and all the ferns in hanging baskets I have now that I didn't have last winter. Oh dear! Ok, I'll take a cutting and make room somehow.:) Spoken like a true collector - "Just one more dear".:)
Sheila, do you still have any sedum left (the yellow one)? If not, then maybe a garden topper? Atleast if I can stick it in the ground, it's less likely to get broken by the cats.:) I wonder if you can make those into a solar light? That would be really cool. You just might make some money at that.
Mary Lee,
Let me have 2 of your Tx Star starts, pennywort, & var.grass and I will bring a pot of Yellow Seedum and a garden topper of your choice. If you want to pick early, I will put your name on it.
I will leave the creation of lights to someone else, but just might work!
Oh everyone.....about the pictures that aren't appearing.....
I read on the Dave's Garden forum that Dave had installed another server yesterday and not all of the pics are switched yet, they are being moved from one server to another. As you know we have over a million pics on the site. Hopefully they can finish up today.

Marylee what is Pennywort used for? I bought a pot at HD about a month ago in Herb area because it is a runner (love runners), but what do you use it for?
Sylvia
Sheila, it sounds like a good deal to me. I'll let you know about the garden topper. Sylvia, pennywort is a pond plant. Atleast the one I have is, but it might grow outside of a pond if the ground stays wet.
Sheila, I think I'd lilke the one in the picture on the left. It's a green bottle with what looks like a blue votive candle holder on top.
Thanks, Mary Lee
Whew! I missed one night on here, and look at the traffic!
Margie, if you have any left, I would love a lion's tail seedling. Please let me know if I have anything you'd like.
Sheila, I do have some cat's whiskers, Laura Bush, and milkweed for you. I'll have to check on the salvia medrensis when I get home, think it may all be spoken for. I'll let you know. I would like some four o'clocks if they're not all taken.
Sheila, are blood lilies the same as hardy amaryllis? I remember a discussion on that topic in some thread, but I've slept many times since then. I have hardy amaryllis, which I hope to dig up before the RU. Marylyn is supposed to take some to somebody else down there. Is that what you want?
Did somebody say they wanted Aztec Gold daylilies? I thought I read that somebody did. I finally got them dug up yesterday just before the storm hit. They filled 4 pots!
Bettydee, do you still have sunburst coreopsis? If so, what do I hve that interests you?
Sheila, I have your name on a salvia 'Indigo Spires' and some pink obedient plant. It should be great with your purple, and maybe the two will be so happy together, they will settle down and stay put! LOL
If you still have them, I'd love a white butterfly ginger and some sedum kamtschaticum.
Patricia
Silverflutter....is this the Amaryllis you have?... http://davesgarden.com/pf/go/56501/index.html
or do you have the small Oxblood lily that springs up overnight and flowers? http://davesgarden.com/pf/go/54021/index.html
I have some of both of those but don't have any other red lilies.
I think I have got everyone down for those things I have confirmed with you. Please check my list and see if it's correct. Thanks to those who have responded so far.
Maggiemoo you need to pick a lot more than just 4 O'clocks for what I am getting from you.

Sheila, your picture didn't make it, but my amaryllis make leaves first. Then about 2 months later the flower stalks come up. The flowers are red with a white stripe. I think they last about a month and they're almost through now.
