We always seem to bring in a spider or two when we bring in the tree. ;-)

mgh- love the queen of the garden and santa ornaments! i have a pickles on all my trees.

tazzy - wonderful story! thanks for sharing it.

Willamette Valley, OR(Zone 8a)

Thanks Tazzy. My son received the spider from one of his teachers a few years ago and it included that story, but we had lost the paper it was on. I love that little spider, but we can't use tinsel because our cat will eat it. ;-)

LOL Tazzy! Thankfully, my cat just lays behind the tree......as long as we don't use tinsel. ;-)

A question to those of you with cats:

How many times do you have to completely redecorate the tree due to kitty cat shenanigans?

So far, I've had to remove all the ornaments and lights and put them back on again 3 times this year. Stupid kitty cat. ;-) Thankfully none of my ornaments are breakable!

Willamette Valley, OR(Zone 8a)

Julie, if my cat did that I would seriously be considering which I would get rid of....the tree or the cat?! LOL Thankfully the only things we have had to put back on the tree are a few ornaments that get knocked off by the dog's tail or by us trying to get between the tree and the bookcase to open the shade on the front window. (We have a very tiny house. ;-)

Modi'in, Israel

mgh, hehehe....the last time he did it, I got REALLY mad at him. Picked him up by the scruff of the neck, brought him to the tree and barked "no! no! no!" angrily several times at him. Only one ornament has needed to be replaced in the 4 days since ;-) To be fair though, he's only 6 months old. I guess he just needed some clear instructions as to the tree being off limits LOL

LOL Julie! Yep, that'll do it! Our kitty is 10yo. When she was younger (she was 1yo when we got her) we used a squirt bottle on her to give her "clear instructions." Worked like a charm! LOL

Well, I am the mother of Huck...perhaps you have heard of him. Well, the bottom 3 ft. of the tree gets redecorated EVERY MORNING. I think he is in his terrible two's although he is only about 6 months old also....come to think of it he has been in his terrible twos since day one!

Starkville, MS

debbie - I don't want to discourage you, but I have one like Huck. She is now 1 1/2 and hasn't learned to resist ANYTHING that moves!!! Good luck with Huck!

Kelli, I have that same star with the angel in it with my name on it......how fun!
and MGH I have the pickle too. Alhough I didnt put it up this year, cause i have new kitten and a puppy, and the kitten tosses off ornaments to the puppy who chews them. so nothing elaborate for us this year.

Thanks for all the pictures of your trees, they are wonderful.

Then this last one. My department one a prize for being most decorated. It's nice that everyone did decorations this year. It's been a long time since they have done that and it sure makes it nice to see them all.

We were never allowed to put up decorations at work that used electricity, but people used to put up garlands and small trees and stuff like that. Then we had a "downsizing" reign of terror and things were never the same. People didn't put up decorations, didn't bring in goodies, or do any of the stuff they did in the old days.

Newark, OH(Zone 5b)

They've had three rounds of layoffs at Howie's company this last two or so years, I believe -- We can relate to the reign of terror! I think peoples' morale was bad and they quit decorating. Howie always did it, though, and this year others finally started to again. It was a welcome change!

L.A. (Canoga Park), CA(Zone 10a)

I never decorated, even in good times. Maybe it's because I used everything at home. It was mainly the secretaries that decorated.

Yorkshire,

I can't seem to be able to take a half decent picture nowdays...everything turns out so blurry. But I thought you might like to see some pictures of some of my ornaments...if you can make them out through the blurriness. I love collecting birds and ornaments from other countries for the tree so it's a bit of a mish-mash of onaments, some have been lovingly handmade (I treasure those) and the birds I'm adding to whenever I find anything suitable. I like them to be realistic as possible but whatever takes my fancy really. Here's my treetop angel surrounded by birds.

Yorkshire,

More of my ornaments, a dove and an owl.

More of the birds below the angel. There's a European robin, a Cardinal, a wren and a grey heron somewhere on this picture.

Yorkshire,

OM Goodness, that last picture was blurry, sorry folks!! These two beautiful ornaments were bought for me from Budapest and Prague.
