When you get your Christmas tree up, post pictures!

L.A. (Canoga Park), CA(Zone 10a)

When people talk about what they would take if they had to evacuate their house in the event of a natural disaster, they usually say photographs. For me, it would be the Christmas ornaments. I have a bunch that belonged to my grandma. They have more sentimental value to me than anything else I own.

Those are really neat Kelli. How cool you have the box and everything is so intact. I swear we had some just like those when I was a kid!

L.A. (Canoga Park), CA(Zone 10a)

I wouldn't doubt it. They probably made them by the billions.

Hey all,
We put our tree up the Sunday after Thanksgiving, but I didn't see this thread until now. I enjoy so much seeing all the different trees out there.

Here's ours. We didn't put any glass or breakable ornaments on it this year, because we have a new young kitty this year...and he's a really wild one. lol

Here's a close up shot of the yarn angel I made. Her head is a little misshapen, but she's the first one I made, so I didn't have the pattern down yet. I made more of them, so I could include one in some gift assortments I'm making. Some of them look much better. lol

Here's a closeup of the small shelves hanging by the tree.

And here's a picture of the little devil....um...darling...who prevented me from using my pretty glass ornaments. lol

...and of course, he has to act sweet and adorable to keep me from being too mad about all the havok he wreeks. lol

lol! They look like tree ornaments.

Here is our tree this year. He has grown quite a bit since last year (he's a live potted tree that lives on the patio most of the year). Last year he was a baby....this year he's a kindergartner ;-)

As you can see, we have a small orange devil in the house too. We just got the tree up yesterday and I've already had to replace at least a dozen ornaments. Luckily they are all non-breakable, but I'm keeping my fingers crossed I don't wake up in the morning to see the whole tree toppled over onto the sofa (ack!).

Here is our little tree as he looked last year (I didn't even buy him until 2 days before Christmas, so the decorating was rather sparse). Hasn't he grown! :-)

Wow, he has grown A LOT!! He looks great! And I love that snowman garland you have hanging above your window. Did you and your kids make it?

Well, got my early Christmas/Birthday present today (Canon Rebel 350D) so took advantage of the chance to take a picture of our tree a moment ago. My daughter and I decorated it last week. :)

Wow, I love all these tree pictures. Tazzy, is that poinsettia garland, or indivisual poinsetta ornaments. I love the effect.

Salvia, that is such a wonderful idea to keep a potted tree. I can just imagine how fun you and your family have watching it grow from year to year. I just love Christmas, and that would add a very special feeling to use a tree that I'd grown. Wow.

We use an artificial tree. When I first married, he didn't have a tree, so we used my old four foot tree for our first Christmas. After Christmas was over, we bought the 7 foot prelit tree that we have now for 75% off. I love it, but I wish I'd saved my old four footer to use in another room.

Sebastopol, CA(Zone 9a)

Yes, you are finished, Kelli. I don't see how that could be improved. It's a beatiful tree.

Sand Springs, OK(Zone 7a)

Jdee;

Darius, mgh and jdee, thanks for the sweet comments. Yes my kids and I made the snowman garlands from glue and lots of construction paper. It was a tone of fun seeing what combinations the kids came up with :-). Having the tree in a pot and watching him grow definitely is a fun twist for me for Christmas as well. I bet he won't be on a stool next year like he has been last year and this year for Christmas. You should have seen the tree first thing this morning though. Apparently the stupid cat decided all the decorations were toys just for him and spread them across both sofas and the entire living room floor. I'll have to take everything off the tree and start over again.....it's a pitiful site LOL. Looks like the cat will be spending nights outside or locked in the bathroom until after the holidays. hehehe

Kelli, I love the blooms on your tree. I can't tell if they are daylilies or poinsettias, but they're lovely :-)

Sweezel, OMGOODNESS! That's one BIG gorgeous tree! How fun!!!!!

Piqua, OH(Zone 6a)

What a fun thread! I got my camera out right away and after 6 pics came up with this one of our little tree. Our youngest had this one at college (Ohio State) and gave it to us! It fits right in our little house! Thanks for letting me share a little Christmas spirit! I will look forward to seeing more pictures of fellow DG'ers trees. Buckimom
