Everything looks so beautiful Chele, and I have to agree with Darius I want some of what your taking to have the energy to keep going with all this. If I need a blood transfusion it would be well worth it, we would just need to figure out a way to hold you down long enough to get some, LOL.
Just so you can see this, I had to finaly take a pic of the yellow b-fly bush you sent me. This thing is as tall as I am! and its taken over so much you cant see the purple one I have planted next to it. I think it likes it here. heehee
Hope you can see it ok but I dont have the vast space you do.
The saga of all new gardens continues. Before and during
Ahhh, 'Chele, I truly wish I could come and help you. But, my landlord has raised my rent so I have to be out of here by the end of December. Lots of packing to do myself. Looks like I'll go and stay with MollyMc awhile, and make at least one trip first with plants.
Draven, you have done my shrubbery well. LOL Hey, don't get all wrapped up in the acres I have now. Remember I have spent the last 15 years on 1/4 acre, enjoying the square inch gardening method. :)
Oh sure....go help Molly! Geesh! :) Hey, throw your little truck and all your other stuff on a big Uhaul, drive up here and you can have my house all to yourself until it sells. I'll even buy ya gas! It sounds like a great deal to me. LOL
Hey Carat.. As Chele has said , it wasn't that we wore her out.. she was just incommunicado out there at the farm! I on the other hand have been visited by sore muscles in my legs.. I was crouching a lot.. ouch But Chele fed me shrimp so it's all good! (grin)
Yep while Chele and I were talking, DH was out roaming the field behind her house. He said he found deer signs. Chele was worried about his truck when he drove the girls out there but that's his baby and he was very careful!
Chele's kids are great! All so very cute. The oldest was out working with us and the youngest Maddie was just enjoying being everywhere.. Although she kept leaving her shoes behind! That is what the picture of DH and her was about. No doubt he was telling her that it was way too cold to be walking outside without shoes and she needed to keep them on and she was just giving him the big blue eyed look and dimples. You can see him grinning.
Chele, it looks like you have everything organized to plant! I think you need a new bed too! Whew we were packing them in!
LOL... my winter down jacket is in storage so I hafta go south!
Hey Jazz! Glad to see you can still walk and talk. LOL I didn't post the two piles of other hems. I have one pile, okay a few smaller rows of unamed and misnamed hems, along with seedlings that have yet to bloom, be named or just be set out for show. :) There is another set of smaller rows that are misnamed ones from our favorite hem scam artist.
Hey Darius, we have extra coats. wink wink and hint hint. Somehow I just knew you would pull the weather excuse. LOL
Yes Chele.. I was a blob yesterday. Dh was off playing paintball and kidlet and I lounged.. I admit I was thinking that I should be weeding the garden.. maybe if I wait a few weeks the frost will kill all the weeds??
I hope you had a trolly to help with dragging those huge pots into the garage! On thing, those kids will sure have a great work ethic. They don't fuss much when they have to do something. Alex had a good time, she wants me to tell your girls "Hi"
'Chele
We are driving to Columbus
Its only 8 hours
and there is NO way I can fly that many birds out
I drive at least 8 hours a day at work so its no biggy to me
I have 14 birds in the show
plus we are bringing birds that we have sold to people and they are picking them up there
Plus we are bringing extras to hopefully sell
If you want some of mine let me know
but you might want a different breed
If you don't feel you'll be ready for them yet we'll figure out something in the spring
also the show might be a good place for you to see all the different breeds so you can pick a chicken that you'll love, might even be a breeder in your area....
Do you have any silkies, CC? Those are so cool, like teddy bears! :D Chele, your kids would love silkies, I bet. http://www.freightlinersfarm.org.uk/images/animals/chickens/s01.jpg
How cute the silkies look! Yes, I think Chele's girls would love them!
Why do I suddenly have a mental image of little fuzzy chickens running around with ponytails and barettes in their feathers? Pink scrunchies around each foot? Ribbons around the wings?
My daughter's cat barely escapes with a shred of dignity left after a "Let's dress up the cat" episode, could you imagine what 6 girls could do to those cute chickens?
ROFLMBOPMP
OMG, the city in me just came out. That was the cutest and ugliest thing I have ever seen. A silkie you say. It looks like a character from a tv show my daughter watch when she was little called Fraggle Rock.
After I get settled in I might have to get me a couple of those just for the entertainment value they could provide. Do they lay eggs that can be eaten. Is that a female or male. Do they both have that poof do? Is it hard to care for silkie chickens is something I guess I should have asked first.
Thank you picturelady, you got it exactly!
Those poor chickens.....
silkies are the best and there tamer then the other crested chickens ,and with bows and ribbons
oh boy what fun for the girls .
Gosh, makes me want a couple, too. ;)

DH is calling around to see about a group rate on theapy for the bunch of us. Playing beauty shop on chickens in paint programs is not normal behavior.
CARAT...it is normal behavior for ME !!! :-)))
Picturelady, I will be sure to have him add an extra session just for you alone.
I don't know if I should be insulted or honored !?
Honored as I bow before you, my idol.
we are ALL bowing in supplication before the Queen of Paint and Chicken Decoupage.
Oh ow, ow, ow, my ribs hurt!!
Gonna have to add some more letters to ROFLMFBOPMPTIBAR!!! (Think I Broke A Rib!)
Chicken Decoupage, whaaaaaaaahaaaaaaaHA HA HA HA HA HA AH AH HA HA HAH HA HA HA
whew, I can breathe again.
OMG! I turn my back for only an hour or so and look what you all have done! I think the pink might be a bit much. Maybe pastels would be more fitting. ;P
Quick, somebody give me "chicken pen 101". LOL
Karen, if I am not ready for birds and the weather is not too bad, maybe we will plan on coming to the chicken thing. It sounds interesting AND fun! I think I am broken. I used to get excited about Victoria's Secret and Sak's Fifth Avenue. hahahaha I asked the girls and they think it sounds like fun to go see the variety of birdies. The bird you posted is pretty. ;)
Personally, I would want good layers. As the eldest two girls won't eat beef or pork anymore, birds that are good for baking and frying would be my second choice. BUT, where do I find someone to do them in?? I admit, I can't do it. There is no hope. Breeding. That is my forte. LOL
WOW !!! I kinda like the new title !!!
"Queen of Paint and Chicken Decoupage" !!!
Just let me know anytime I can help!
Chele.. I think there are places where you can take them to be "processed" Even my lifelong farmer friends don't do their own.. :) But then.. eggs are always good
Have I said thanks for the shrimp yet?? Thanks for the shrimp!
Okay, so Phyllis Diller(silkies) do lay eggs that can be eaten right.
Oh stop all that laughing. This why I need Darius so badly.........
Casey
You are welcome for the shrimp!
Did I remember to say thank you for the garden rock and gloves and indigo? Thanks! I ain't repeating all the names. LOL
Casey, have you no shame?? Are you trying to guilt me? I REALLY get the feeling you are trying to guilt me! Hey, I don't need her for long so maybe we can take turns?
Chele I can sling the chickens for you.
My Grandmother was an old farm girl.
She would sling two at once (one in each hand) and have them plucked by the time she hit the kitchen.
But as they said above a processing butcher is a better deal.
(They do cows and pigs too. As can I but they're geared for it.)
Plucking and cleaning is a chore. (I never got Granma's technic down)
Ric
Chele, ME???? Guilt trip, you?????? NEVER, not I. Not admitting to anything. I didn't do and I didn't even get to watch...................
Sue, I know I would walk around the house humming the song with them while DD watched.
Casey
I think I better roll up my capris. It is getting deep in here. LOL Better yet, I'll go get some muck boots!
Ric, I prefer to tell my children I am trading live ones for edible ones. They leave feathered, come back in a styro tray. :) I guess I could accidentally bop them all on the head with the bobcat......hey, then I would have an excuse to keep a bobcat!
Sue?? No comments on your fall scenery? Pfft! How soon they turn on you!
Chele, you will try just about any angle to keep that thing won't you???
I received a catolog today from "Loftness" and was showing DH all the helpful attachments we could get if we just bought a babcat or a tractor with a front loader. They have some really cool attachments. Be sure to be sitting when looking at the price ranges though. Scary.....
Oh I LOVE the fall scenery! I have it here too, somewhere, I think, well some tree down the street is turning orange (could be from pollution, what do I know).
Brrrr cold here, lows down to 50 at night. had to put a sweater on over my tank top.
Brrrr :-)
And you could process them in a cement mixer!
Our friend's dad used to take a cow 'to be sold as a pet' twice a year.
They had a meat locker at the butcher's shop and would just stop in every week and 'buy' beef. ;-)
I LOVE Fraggle Rock!
Is it still on anywhere?
Ric
My house..it's on tape..lol
Wasn't that show fun? Here are sound clips: http://www.fragglerocker.com/media/audio.asp There is a DVD out, too.
I have already had the sticker shock of the John Deere website! LOL
How do you like this forecast? Woe is me! http://www.weather.com/activities/health/fitness/weather/tenday.html?locid=45230&from=36hr_fcst10DayLink_fitness
sheesh..it is gettin cold at night.. but I am betting you didn't have SNOW today..like we did!! Sheesh.. I want FALL!! Crisp weather...dry leaves crackling underfoot.. bon fires.. NO SNOW YET!
