Aren't friends wonderful !!! Sounds like you got yourself a keeper Chele. Your girls did good also. Sounds like you guys made alot of work, alot of fun!
Hooray for you!!! You will have a beautiful yard come spring!
Farm->chicken coop->now the bobcat and pond!
Peggy
You're awesome!!!!!
'Chele,
I am going to the Ohio National in Columbus in November(11th,12th,13th)
So if you want chickens
or plants
let me know
I won't be able to go too far from the fair grounds but I'd love to see ya!!!
Peggy, you sweet thing! I knew you were a treasure. Boy, you and Chelle together, that must have been a hoot!
Oh Chele, that makes sense. Parts of our properly sits more than wet in the Spring! The front usually drains off quickly but the back... well lets just say we call it "The Swamp"
I wanna play too....whaw!
Sounds like you two had a busy weekend, but an enjoyable one too. A camp out in the new house will always be remembered for years. lol Did you sleep in sleeping bags or on the hard floor? After working in the garden for so many hours, that hard floor must have been tough on your backs. hehe
Chele, I'm envious of your good friend Peggy...sure wish I lived closer to be able to come help with your gardens and such. Heck, I'd even volunteer to work in your new greenhouse. :-)
You have mentioned so many times, on how helpful your girls are and I am so impressed with them. I sure am proud of you for raising such nice children. I sure hope to meet them someday.
Hope your resting a little today....just a little.
Donna
Oh, and Peggy....way to go girl!!!
Awe Peggy, come back! I'll buy more Salami and make home made salsa. I know how to win you over. LOL
Margie, Peggy is really a true friend. I cannot tell you how many times she has come through for me! She even drove all the way here to sit with a ten day old baby and four other kids at the hospital so I could visit with Craig when he had a heart attack. How many people would do that??
CC, I really have to ask. LOL Are you flying or driving? I wanna see you at the airport trying to explain why you have eggs or birds in your carry on? Would you put that in the over head storage, under your seat or just book a seat for them? :) I love you! You are so funny! Seriously, what kind of an area and housing would I need for them? Would you bring birds or would I have to walk around with eggs in my bra for a week or two? I am fowl dense but willing to learn. :) By that time in November, we will be living in the new house. I can make a trip to Columbus. I would be so upset if I didn't get to meet you and you were that close!
Kathleen, I don't know that Peggy and I ever got to have a conversation other than the one about which colors should go where and how we should divide the beds. Anything else we said to each other was pretty much about daylilies and screamed from one end of the front yard to the other. LOL I bet my neighbors are really concerned!!
Jazz, I am hoping there is no seriously swampy areas but if there are, I have the tool rental on speed dial! LOL I'll get another escavator and make a bog area that drains to the back fields. I am sure I have a plant or 100 that would like to sit in a soggy hole. :)
Donna, I don't think Peggy and I got much sleep. It was too darn quiet! I slept in an overstuffed chair with a baby curled around me and Peggy got the couch but not until the kids dropped off one by one and could get relocated to the floor! It seemed like the rooster screamed it was early o'thirty as soon as we drifted off! It will be nice when living there is the real deal! I had the bright idea to take my living room furniture to the house right away, thinking if everyone was uncomfortable here, they would work harder to get out of this house. Wrong answer! They dragged their mattresses into the living room and got back to relaxing. Argh!!! I do wish you could come play too! Maybe you can visit in the spring when we are settled.
As for resting...I am loading up the boxes we have stacked in the dining room while hubby cleans the basement. Every time I take a load down, I drag up a piece of an old dining room set we had in the garage. I am sure glad I didn't toss the old stuff cuz we can stage this house to look lived in and toss it later and go ahead and go live in the other house.
My kids are no angels but they will work if they think it is their idea and they are most helpful when company is here. Chuckle. They like helping other people more I think. They are starting to get excited and I think that is motivating them.
Okay, back to work with me. I still have to get the fish out of the pond and dig up a bunch more plants. :)
You guys really worked hard this weekend! What Peggy did for you all is but one more example of why we will always be involved at DG -- there's just no better people online. :)
Awe Peggy, come back! I'll buy more Salami and make home made salsa. I know how to win you over. LOL
Now she bribes me. lol Throw in some shrimp and you might have a deal. Folks I gotta tell ya she makes the best salsa. Don't ask for a recipe she don't have one or so she says. Hey she bought me lunch and tricked me into paying for my gas. So I figured I got paid. I think I need to go to OH to get gas sure cheaper than it is here.
The only thing I regretted about the weekend was we didn't have any time to chit chat. We where on a mission to get as much done as we could. I don't see how she gets as much done as she does. I was wore out, but then she is 10 years younger too. lol I think she will admit she was wore out too, but not just from the weekend but being on the go non stop. We always have a great time and lots of laughs.
Hey I heard the roosters the kids heard bunnies talking. lol There you go how about Bunny Talk Farm.

Oh Chele,
Darn I wish I was closer so I could help you also..
Anyway the yard is looking good.
You are so Blessed to have such a good friend....
Elva
I like it!
10 years??? I think it is 11! LOL Oh wait, I am supposed to be sucking up. :)
Not only will I buy shrimp, I'll get scallops too. I'll wrap them with bacon, throw them on a skewer, lightly baste with barbecue and grill them. Come on Friday and we'll have steak and crab legs the other night. Should I keep going? Doesn't anyone else want to come play? Y'all have to save Peggy. I am one mean plant boss! LOL
I am headed back tomorrow with more plants, a bucket full of fish and whatever else makes it to my car. I got all the boxes out of the dining room and dragged the old dining room set and sofa back up too. We snagged the TV stand from the other house and I took the big TV from our room and moved it out here. Geesh! This place is looking like it did ten years ago. LOL
I have thoroughly enjoyed your new home threads, Michele, and can't wait for the continuation. You are one tough mama and I admire the heck out of you. :-)
Terrie
Well, before you get too caught up in your visions, I have had a few sit down and cry moments. LOL Thank you for the encouragement. :)
Peggy and Michele!!!!!!!!! You both totally ROCK to get that much done! WOW....
Peggy, you are so definitely a saint for helping Michele. God bless you girl.
Michele, glad you got all dem darn plants in the ground LOL...You ready for some more shade plants???? as vic ducks and slinks away ROFLOL
Looks absolutely GREAT Michele!
Well HA to you Vic! I got all the ones you sent planted before I planted my own. hahahahaha We figured we should get all the bare root stuff in the ground first. Peggy took the sun and I took the shade. Your plants freckled the entire length of the front bed and ringed all four trees!! I can't tell you how much I appreciate you. ((((VIC))))
See how she is she made me work in the sun? lol
LOL!
It was in the 40/50's most of the morning!
Ric
(Shhhhh, we wore gloves for about the first hour). We did get a lot done! We went out in sweats and stripped as the sun spread across the field and into the yard. LOL
Hey Chele.. Friday is shrimp and scallop night eh?? hmmmmmmm
hmm.. starting to feel like there's no shrimp for moi..sniffle
ooohhhhh yummmmmmm
Awe, don't fret! I had different irons in different fires! LOL I am willing to both bribe and blackmail people to get help me. :)
lol... last night I asked the kidlet if she wanted to go to Cinci.. I told her that you have 6 daughters.. she wanted to know if any were between 8-10..
Ooo she would have so much fun with Michele's bunch.
I really wish I lived closer!
Michele, you coming to chat tonight? You need a break....
mg
Actually Jazz, I have an 8 year old and a 10 year old. :) They are number 2 and 3. LOL
Gayle, I plan to make to make it to chat if I am still awake. ;)
I ran two buckets full of all my fish out to the new house along with the pump. They look happy in their new deeper home. I also dragged out a couple dozen more plants I dug up this morning. I got the bed next to the kitchen filled in with good soil and added a few plants there and the rest went in the shade bed with the exception of my Knockout Rose I got for my birthday. That is up by the fence. :) My three year old helped me put dirt in the wheel barrow while the baby went behind us ripping out plants and decapitating the Heuchera. Geesh!
Now we are off to the grocery for lunch stuff and I am hoping to dig a few more plants when I get home. THEN, I hope to pop into chat. LOL
Sorry I really enjoyed reading the above, but don't feel up to answering. Have had diverticulatis for past three days. Went to the doctor this morning as couldn't sleep because of the pain. He told me that if I had waited any longer he would have put me in the hosp. I am now back home but can only eat clear liquids for a couple of days. Think I need to go lay down again. DonnaS
Oh DonnaS! I do hope you feel better!

So sorry to hear about your illness, Donna, and glad you got to the doctor when you did. Hope to hear you are better soon!
Terrie
Oh, Donna, that's no fun. My friend did end up in the hospital with hers - she was badly infected from it. Thank God you caught it early enough. (((hugs)))
Donna, I am so sorry to hear you are ill. It is a good thing you went to the doctor when you did! Get some rest and take care of yourself.
I have a little one home sick and I am going to have a stay home and dig day so you won't miss any of my shenanigans. :)
Thankyou all for your good wishes. The medicines have kicked in and I am feeling a little better. It is raining so at least I don't need to worry about irrigating.
Badseed, so sorry your little one is not feeling well. Take care of her and yourself.
DonnaS
Donna, I hope you are totally recovered soon. Glad it is raining :)
LOL Donna, It's the little things, huh? We could use some free water. I took my super long hose to the other house and as a result my back yard is suffering.
So far my little one just has a fever. Hopefully it passes. Thank you for the well wishes. :)
Just checking in to say I'm following along, but you move so fast it takes my breath away! I'm a bit envious just because you really have a mission right now and I know you wake up each day just raring to go! For me, there's nothing like a big project to keep me motivated. I'm starting to feel the old winter 'droop' settle in with the rainy weather and low cloud cover (I know the sun is up there somewhere...) and your energy is becoming something hard to relate to. (But then, so if the fact that you are mom to 6 children. I could never in my life do that. What a woman!)
Your place is looking great, and it sounds like your girls are just a wonder - helping with the planting, the wheelbarrow, staying out of your hair...do something special just for them.
What a friend you have in Peggy. I know you appreciate all she does, but I can tell that she has just as much fun as you do doing it.
Keep up the show!
Hi Pixy! It's nice to have you enjoying the ride!
I just went into a room 2 of the girls share and ripped out everything, swept out and steam cleaned the floor. I left some clothes in the closets, nothing on the floor and left them 2 mattresses to sleep on. Four of the girls are sleeping in there. The 2 that were sharing the basement decided to move up here and hang out having 'sleep overs'. I can live with that.
I have declared that we WILL be out of this house at the end of the month. I am having the Mini picked up the end of Oct or the beginning of November and we will start our life in the new house the beginning of November. I'll have to run down here to finish up remodelling and cleaning so we can list this house.
I also emptied out their chest and my vanity so they can be loaded up and ready to go. I am hoping my 12 year old will finish packing up her room when she gets home today.
We have decided Halloween will be their last day at this school. I am going to let them take the rest of that week off to get their rooms set up and their clothes and stuff in order and they can start school the following Monday at the new school.
The kids didn't get to have birthday parties or anything this year because life has been such a fly by! I told them the weekend after Halloween, they could have a huge birthday/farewell party and have a few friends sleep over. They are really looking forward to that.
There are so many days, like today, where I look around the house and look out into the yard, and I want to throw my hands in the air, get back into bed and just have a good cry. It feels like I will never get it all done and be able to get on with life. I know I can't do that because I already have 2 houses and 2 mortgages, so I plunge on. LOL
I am going to finish woofing down this burger and onion rings then go flip my laundry loads. Then I plan to make the best of the next 2 hours hubby will be home and go see how many plants I can yank out of the ground. I think this coming weekend may be another sleep over and plant like a maniac, at the new house, weekend. It's a lot of work and I have had some seriously down moments but I keep telling myself, it's gonna be so great when it's done!! :)
:-( I'm sorry for all the work you have! I know it can't be all fun, even though as you write about it, it sounds like it is!
Hang in there and I will send positive thoughts your way. It will all be worth it, I am sure. Wish I could help!
Margie
Michele~~I think letting the girls have a huge sleepover/farewell party is a great idea! And since the basement is going to be empty, that's a perfect place to contain the mess. I let Jenna invite all the girls in her Kindergarten class to her sleepover last May, we ended up with 13 little bodies all over the playroom floor. They had so much fun, and I only had a few simple games and activities planned. They danced to music and giggled themselves silly doing makeovers on each other.
I had so much fun I think I will let her do it again next year.
mg
Been trying to keep up with you, but you leave me breathless!! Sleepover sounds like a great idea and will surely make up for the prior lack of celebrations! You've done a tremendous amount of work already, and once you are settled in the new house, you'll be able to keep it together without all the traveling back and forth. My best wishes and total admiration for what you've accomplished already! Good thoughts are flying your way from every direction!!
Sleepover - oh my gawd.....I have boys and they had a sleepover and I will never do it again!! Furniture tipped over, racing and chasing and wrestling - Oldest one had one and I never let the youngest one!! Poor kid.. Good luck - hope girls will be easier....
