I'll go back on the soapbox one more time and then i'll be off it too.
Exxon-Mobil made $7.2B profit last quarter. That's BILLION and that's
for a 3month QUARTER. I looked it up on their website - this is not
made up. Can't wait to see what this current quarter results are for
this poor company.

Regular Gas per gallon PART II
Wouldn't it be great if we could boycott gas??
Yeah, it would. My sister wants to buy a horse, just in case. She doesn't know one end of a horse from the other, much less what to do with one, LOL.
My Dad was telling me about the Office of Pricing during WW2. He said gas, among other items, were a certain price and you couldn't sell them for more or less.
Gas was $2.539 Thursday night in Mankato, MN.
I'm good in my van until next week, hope it drops some more.
Bernie
darius,
I have horses....three...I enjoy them tremendously, and if traffic lets up I'll drive them to town. Mine have not had medical problems, other than one had a hoof abscess in Aug, but no big bills. If they get injured or sick, it can be REALLY expensive. Since they also help with mowing, and I put all the manure to use, it works for me. I think I get about 10 miles per bale of hay. Hay here is 1.50/bale. But I used to buy bags of manure, too.
It's dangerous to drive the horses on the roads though. I would LOVE to be able to take them the 2 miles to the grocery store and PO!!
If we could have some sidewalks, bike paths, or trails that were car-free, a lot of people could do more without gas. I don't let my kids bike on our road,. most of the country roads are full of barreling log trucks, cement trucks, and drivers not paying attention.
If I were ruling the world, I'd put in more sidewalks, and a general store in every neighborhood to save gas!
dmcdevitt, Yeah, I have an idea of that. In years past, I raised Egyptian Arabians (high percantage, not pure Egyptian), halter quality for show. Although I did have a wonderful Bay who would have been good with a cart!
Gas is now $2.489 as of Saturday, Sept 17, 1 PM.
Wow, and I thought I did good paying $2.799!
It's still $2.859 here.
2.499 here tonight. will buy tomorrow when it is even lower LOL
when i trained horses and mules fo ra guy here in town, we always broke them to drive downtown (OK, its a one-light town). Post Office in the AMs is pretty busy. When puling a cart or wagon it was really fun! I only had one problem, a guy with a glass truck (yep, the ones carrying plate glass) came barreling by just as the mule got shy about something. clipped my leg pretty good! we had to pay for his broken glass! only because i was originally on the sdiewalk. had i been using a lane, as permitted by law for livestock, he would have had to go around me, it would have been his fault.
yep, that's whats wrong with this town, NO SIDEWALKS! can't even safely walk to the store 1 mile away because of the steep roadside gulleys full of tall weeds. but it is gonna change :-)
lower gas please!!! and cheaper hay!
Try 3.86 a gal. here in Hawaii on the Big Island. I hear it is 4.00 on Maui.
We really can't complain, tho'....aside from oil producing countries...we pay less for gas than any country! and we continue to buy gas guzzlers. Petrol in NZ is 6.00 per gal. and rising. We won't wake up until it REALLY hits our pocketbook...and we start to encourage alternatives!!!
People near the Eastern border go to Russia to fill their tanks.. It is cheaper even with the expensive visa they need! Gas in Russia is around 2.08 $/gallon.
Well, I've held off filling-up for awhile, guess tomorrow will be either an eye-opener or a go home and cry day..lol. as I go fill up my car.
Will post my findings here..
Our gas here in my part of Texas has finally come down to $2.57 a gallon for Regular.
Lin
2.87 at circle K yesterday for reuglar gas in Moreno Valley, CA
2.97 unleaded
3.07 HiTone..lol
Hey, $2.459 today. Some guy on radio said it would level out at $2.20.
Bernie
Not with another hurricane in the Gulf affecting oil production there.
Cheapest here is $2.739 but most are around $2.899/gal still
Tam
My sister told me tonight gas in Kissimmee (FL) is $2.79 but up in Orlando as cheap (LOL) as $2.49. I'll find out tomorrow if it has come down any around here.
As usual, gas here is still priced way above the national average with the least expensive in and around my town being $3.10 per gal.
Prices shot up the second they "thought" the storm would cause damage back there and we will be lucky if the robbers will lower it to within a quarter of what it was within the next few months.
Opec dropped the price of crude and less damage occured than predicted. They opened some of our reserves and the oil people have had ever rising profits all at the expense of average people!
Those bales of hay are sounding like pretty cheap fuel to me! Now if I could figure out how to keep a horse in a city apartment!
you can move here!
if you can stand all the plants and refinieries LOL
i have a friend who says her sister works in oil and gas. her motto is "i can afford three dollar a gallon gas, I cannot afford one dollar a gallon gas" another friend who hubby is in mgment at the big reifnery here, they actually have it in their budget to spend quite a bit on gas, the mom is the only one that tries to cut back. $1000 bucks a month, four or five vehicles!
still keep forgetting to fill up, gonna o do that tonight before Rita sneds it back up!
Paid $2.429 tonight.
Bernie
Went up again here. Now cheapest I can find is $2.759/gal
I think I may have missed the boat by not filling up yesterday or the day before. Have no clue what it is here now, but cannot be cheap.
They just said on the Dallas news we may hit 5 by the end of next week per gallon - 5 bucks!
Yep, I just heard that on CNN, Nationwide costs.
just got over to CNN to see the plane and tornado plus Rita and the gas cost... yikes what a day for the news.
Did you all see that not only did some of the gas stations run out of gas, but some of the banks there ran out of cash funds there in Houston?
edited to add:

i was lucky today. gas was 2.49 still at two locations here, but lines were long. my 80 year old neighbor was vut off by a younger man in a pickup with trailer and mowers and such. she was so mad she walked over and called hima horses *rea*! she called ot tell me and i decided to wait to go this afternoon
so when i went the sign said 259.9. but the pump still said 249.9 filled up for less than 60 bucks! maybe if i don't do too much driving, i can make it last till it goes back down.
last time this happened, i still had gas from june because i didn't drive for two months after my surgery
of course, i didn't plan on telling them that they didn't change the pump price, but by the time i finished paying the mgr was out on her golf cart in the pump area, so i assume it was changed...
i have it on good authorit it will be $4.00 tomorrow. is it legal to jump that much in one day?
$2.419 today, Mankato, MN
Our senator is introducing a bill to keep the increase to 10¢ per day.
It will only be able to go up $3 in a month!
Bernie
Last week was $2.87 for regular at the local Arco. That's about as cheap as you'll find it anywhere around here.
Cheapest I could find in town today was $2.77 I saw one station that wanted $2.98. No one waiting at the pumps tho. Wonder why? lol
Jean
Gas here last evening was $2.99 so I drove the 8 miles down to a station in GA where it was $2.69. Going up to Boone (5 hrs drive) today, and expect gas to be higher.
have a safe trip Darius! and a nice time :-)
Back home safe, bringing mother's ashes with us. Gas here was $3.69 when we left, down now to $2.89 3 days later.
The average gas around here is $2.78 or $2.79.
$2.55 unleaded reg here
