Regular Gas per gallon PART II

Lindsay, OK(Zone 7a)

Gas was 3.39 in Lancaster on the way home... kept right on going not stopping for that until I have to....

Baytown, TX(Zone 9b)

This morning rode with friend to Pasadena. It was 2.79 there at a station. Hubby stopped here at 4:00pm it was 3.29.

In PA my brother is a constable and puts on alot of miles to deliver
warrants etc. Bless his heart, that is a lot of gas as he may have one 50 miles from home.

John, even the convient stores will catch up after gas prices go up and deliveries cost more.

Houston area check Krogers, Chicken breasts are .99 cents a lb. on sale till tues. does vary in areas??? don't know why.

Blessings,
Sandy ^8^

Tulsa, OK(Zone 7a)

Bernie

Baytown, TX(Zone 9b)

I would like to hope he was defective but 3.19 other places.
They are gouging for the Labor day weekend.

Spokane Valley, WA(Zone 5b)

Gas prices seem to have risen to $2.99/gallon here in the Inland Northwest, a few more cents than yesterday, but not the huge jump like we saw from the day or two before.

Taylor Creek, FL(Zone 10a)

Whoever thought filling your tank would become a short term investment?
sidney

Sand Springs, OK(Zone 7a)

Prices went back down last night to 3.09 and stayed there ( so far today .) still 3.09

Lindsay, OK(Zone 7a)

walmart in South Dallas is down to 2.89 - the lines are huge!!!

Lewisville, MN(Zone 4a)

Most stations in Mankato, MN area are at $2.79 today down from high of $2.89 Thursday.
I paid $1.91.9 today at a Cub's Super Market. You get a ¢'s per item discount on certain groceries.(mostly their own brands.) I am stocking up for long winter so the items are mostly canned things like cream soups & so forth.
You get so many cents per can savings. Most were 2¢. That is good up to 15 gals. I had a coupon for 88¢ off per gallon x 15 gal. Saved $13.20. Also all their brands are cheaper than the national brands, so I saved there too!

Wait till inflation sets in! Imo, its a sure thing. Do you remember the 70s? Mmm, maybe not, I'm old.

Woodsville, NH(Zone 4a)

Tuesday reg gas was 2.69.9 a gal.
Today it was 3.69.9 gal at the same gas station.
Some of the stations in area towns are even higher.
Not a good situation when you have to drive about 15 miles just to go grocery shopping. :(

Mesilla Park, NM

Albuquerque, NM

3.09 regular
3.19 unleaded
3.29 super

I don't know what it is here in CA, will check it out tomorrow.

Myrtle Beach, SC

I paid $2.74 at Sam's Club this morning. In town I saw $3.29 or more at regular pumps. Glad I am retired. Very sad, especially since Pres. Bush released reserves.

Baytown, TX(Zone 9b)

Emaewest,

They were on sale at Krogers for .99 cents a lb this week in the Houston area stores.. These had the bone and skin on. Our boneless skinless go for 1.99 a lb. Or should I said they have in the past.

Boneless skinless was 3.99 a lb.

That is why I was mention to shop the sales the next 2 weeks before they start changing due to delivery fees.

Fritch, TX(Zone 6b)

I remember the 70s, and i am a young tenderfoot! At that time gas and water were rationed (or so it seemed).

Now that the oil reserves are coming in from other countries as well, prices should begin to go back down I would hope. If they hadn't increased the prices, people would have boughtt even more, traveled more, and more stations would have run completely out.

Well, that's toungue in cheek 20/20 hindsight at its best LOL i would not have had this opinion two days ago *grin*.

tf

North Adams, MI(Zone 5b)

$2.62 Tuesday morning
$2.99 Tuesday night
$3.09 Wednesday
$3.19 Thursday morning
$3.39 Thursday night and Friday
$2.99 Saturday

I am from a small area and the local gas station is out of gas, says they can't afford to purchase any more right now, I know of 2 other stations that are out to. The prices above are from the station I pass on the way to work, about 12 miles from where I live.

We have a lot of people locally that travel anywheres from 30min to 1 1/2 hours to work. Just like the post said above you would have to get a second job to pay for gas to go to work !!

Have a Great Labor Day !!
Mindy

Ozark, AL(Zone 8b)

Brother sent me this; it shows the prices in my town at different stations. I havent played with it much, so I don't know if it can be adjusted for other states etc. It depends on locals reporting prices, so if your area doesn't show any, you can add your 2 cents worth and help the next guy that calls up the page for your area.

On the release of oil reserves - the reserves are crude oil. After Katrina hit,
apparently 90% of the refineries were out of commission. so the crude
reserves do no good to get us refined gas. We need it refined & distributed.
Once power is on-line, we'll see more refineries coming back on-line but it'll
be awhile before we know how all the refineries fared in the huricane. It sounds
like this will last a while.

And I'm not too old to remember the 70's. 55MPW speed limit, people
buying houses on their 18% credit cards (same rates as mortages), prices
going up at the grocery store every week. And the wage freeze. I hope
we're smarter now than we were back then about managing the inflation!

Tam

Taylor Creek, FL(Zone 10a)

That's 90% if the Gulf Coast refineries, not Americas refineries.
Many of the oil refineries that I worked on in 1990 have the gates locked and are shut down.
I can't begin to understand it.
sidney

somewhere, PA

How much of America's refining capacity in total is shut down then?
This whole situation is just so dishearting!

Off to research this a bit more...

Thanks for the correction Sidney.
Tam

Taylor Creek, FL(Zone 10a)

I know Philidelphia has Sun Oil and there are several others there.
sidney

somewhere, PA

OK - I found a NY Times article that said that Katrina
had shut down 10% of the country's oil refining capacity.
So maybe the crude oil released will help... eventually.
Tam

Taylor Creek, FL(Zone 10a)

Now it's just a matter of getting their boilers back up and other electricity to the refineries, the it is also not just a turn the knob operation. They have to be put back 'on line' by a certain series of things. I too found the 10% in a search. It will change tuesday.

Thanks, Sidney!

Well, I got a little relief. My mother died Friday afternoon although they were not able to notify me until Saturday morning, and I've been on the road since.

I left here Saturday with local gas at $3.699 a gallon and got to Boone, a tourist town 250 miles away... to find gas at $3.169. The clerk said some kind of law had been put into effect with a cap for gas prices. Since I've had NO news on the road (no radio in my vehicle) I have NO idea whether it's a local edict, state, or federal.

I was glad to see it, wherever it came from.

Olympia, WA(Zone 7b)

Oh Darius! So sorry to hear about your mother!

Niceville, FL(Zone 8b)

All the stations here are out of gas. Therefore, I am not going anywhere except work unless I have to. Hopefully, we will get some gas soon.

Crossville, TN

Darius...I was sorry to hear of your Mother's death...I know it was expected...but still hurts. Jo

Baytown, TX(Zone 9b)

Darius,

My heart is with you. Be careful traveling and let us hear from you soon. We care so very much for you.

Blessings,

Fritch, TX(Zone 6b)

gas in borger was 2.84, go thome to Fritch, 2.94-2.99 for lowest octane. 3 stations in Borger OUT till next week. considering it is home to a refinery, that is pretty bad, i think they call it rationing!

once i pay repair bills on vehicle, won't have gas money to go anywhere. better conserve what i have in the tank anyhow!

The good news is that our stations have gas. The not so good news is that it has come DOWN to $3.24. On our fixed income this means we have to conserve dirving somehow. My heart goes out to those who can't afford gas at all. Things will get better, I hope.

Olympia, WA(Zone 7b)

I don't think our area has been affected much. I haven't heard anything about stations running out of gas, and prices for regular range from 2.77 to 2.90 or so. Prices went up slightly after Katrina, but probably only about ten cents per gallon.

So.App.Mtns., United States(Zone 5b)

You are lucky, Dana. Our gas here jumped about a dollar or more after Katrina. They have come down some, but not enough.

Dansville, NY(Zone 6a)

now explain this , Kwik Fill gas stations here in our area get there crude from canada and their
refinery is located in in pennsilvania and there prices on gas are going up and down along with
the rest of the stations here. ( i was giving that info from a kwik fill manager )

current price ... 3.37 9

somewhere, PA

VbSparky - we're still at $3.379 at the nearest few stations too. In Allentown, I've
seen as low as $3.199. We're typically lower than Ca but not right now!
