Regular Gas per gallon PART II

Fayetteville, NC(Zone 8a)

It's true, some of us are. But their execs are sure getting big bonus checks.

Monroe, NY(Zone 6b)

when all is said and done, it comes back to each one of us and if we want to make a difference. i believe, collectively, we have the power to turn this thing around and make the oil industry roll back their prices.
i've been boycotting exxon-mobil now for six months, but if it's not done in great numbers, the oil companies will have the last laugh.
all of us (U.S.) have to get the word out and boycott. it's our right as consumers to not patronize whomever we want.
so all of you out there, tell your friends and have them tell their friends and maybe, no not maybe, WE WILL HAVE AN IMPACT.

i'm looking forward to cheaper ( much cheaper) prices at the pump.

Fritch, TX(Zone 6b)

hmmm, we don't have a lot of exxon here, mostly chevron/phillips/diamond shamrock. i wonder what kind of gas Sam's Club carries, i almost exclusively buy from there...

SW, WI(Zone 4b)

Heard this on the radio today....if you're from Wisconsin, check it out and
sign the Governor's petition!!!

http://www.wisgov.state.wi.us/lowergasprice.asp

Hey, I just discovered that you can sign this petition no matter what state you're from!

Houston, United States(Zone 9b)

Passed New Braunfels TX today going from Austin to SA.

Gas went from $2.71 there this morning to $2.67!!!! Whooo-hooo!!!!! That's pretty good round here.

I heard the government made more off gas profits (tax wise) than exxon alone.

Henderson, NV(Zone 9b)

Pass $3.00 here in Vegas.

Taylor Creek, FL(Zone 10a)

Actually it's gone down ten cents a gallon here. Gotta keep those tourist coming.
Sidney

Fritch, TX(Zone 6b)

i only paid 162.9 in Amarillo on Thursday... but it was 179.9 here in town...

Mesilla Park, NM

3.31 Orange

Taylor Creek, FL(Zone 10a)

Fritch, that was One and not Two????

Fritch, TX(Zone 6b)

dang, i did it again. living in the past LOL. i had told my Mom the same thing.

I paid 2.62.9 in Amarillo, it was 2.79.9 in Fritch

Taylor Creek, FL(Zone 10a)

Sidney

Houston, United States(Zone 9b)

HAHA. To funny!

Fritch, TX(Zone 6b)

come on down! [up]

;-)

Fritch, TX(Zone 6b)

btw, did you alll hear about the "gasonline banks", i think in Minnesota??? You buy several hundred gallons at a set price, then use your account card to fill up ALWAYS at that price!!! Of course, if the price of gas goes below your fixed price, i guess you just go buy it somewhere else... this idea needs to catch on. I don't know the name of the company, but it is self pay, no convenience store attached, and has a HUGE tank of like 50,000 gallons...

heard it on the radio this morning... will se if i can find a link to that story. nope, they just mentioned it in chat, i will have to call the radio station...

Fayetteville, NC(Zone 8a)

I filled my car the other dayat @ $2.89 and today it is $2.61. At least it's moving in the right direction.

Lewisville, MN(Zone 4a)

Just on the news, Minneapolis area gas at $2.57.
I paid $2.63 in DesMoines & $2.75 local yesterday.
Bernie

Houston, United States(Zone 9b)

Gardengram,

We've been seeing a slight drop here as well.

Taylor Creek, FL(Zone 10a)

Well, maybe the GROSS profits and threats of Price Gouging investigations have shaken them a bit.
Sidney

Lewisville, MN(Zone 4a)

They will let it sit at $2.60 - $2.75 for a while, then when they jump it again we won't notice it as much.

Taylor Creek, FL(Zone 10a)

I would be leary at "Banking" at todays prices.
;)

Fritch, TX(Zone 6b)

you only have to buy 500 gallons at a time...

Taylor Creek, FL(Zone 10a)

Well in this week alone I would have lost $50.
;)

Fritch, TX(Zone 6b)

i see what you mean. i wouldn't recommend it till the prices go down again. In the news story, people who bought gas when it was low are saving a ton of money on it now...

So.App.Mtns., United States(Zone 5b)

Gas prices from last Sunday to today (6 days) from central FL to SW Virginia and back ranged from $2.60 to $2.69, regular gas. A little higher today coming back to FL. Cheapest was south GA, then VA.

Houston, United States(Zone 9b)

Paid $2.63 at Walmart today.

Sam's Club was wanting $2.67? Thought the membership was supposed to be cheaper? Weird.

Taylor Creek, FL(Zone 10a)

Found that on many things at Sam's. Have to caculate almost everything to keep from being nickled and dimed to death almost everywhere.
Sidney

Houston, United States(Zone 9b)

sugar,

I mostly use it for milk, TP and the pharmacy. Oh yes, and it pays on the animal products. But other than that I'd have to calculate my "savings" versus the cost of membership. HA. Plus the extra drive to go there vs the regular store.

GAS WAR - an idea that WILL work
>
>This was originally sent by a retired Coca Cola
>executive. It came from one of his engineer buddies who retired from
>Halliburton. It ' s worth your consideration.
>
>Join the resistance!!!! I hear we are going to hit close
>to $4.00 a gallon by next summer and it might go higher!! Want gasoline
>prices
>to come down? We need to take some intelligent, united action. Phillip
>Hollsworth offered this good idea.
>
>This makes MUCH MORE SENSE than the "don't buy gas on a
>certain day" campaign that was going around last April or May! The oil
>companies
>just laughed at that because they knew we wouldn't continue to "hurt"
>ourselves
>by refusing to buy gas. It was more of an inconvenience to us than it was a
>problem for them.
>
>BUT, whoever thought of this idea, has co me up with a
>plan that can really work. Please read on and join with us! By now you're
>probably thinking gasoline priced at about $1.50 is super cheap. Me too!
>It is
>currently $2.79 for regular unleaded in my town. Now that the oil companies
>and
>the OPEC nations have conditioned us to think that the cost of a gallon of
>gas
>is CHEAP at $1.50 - $1.75, we need to take aggressive action to teach them
>that
>BUYERS control the
>marketplace..... not sellers. With the price of gasoline
>going up more each day, we consumers need to take action. The only way we
>are
>going to see the price of gas come down is if we hit someone in the
>pocketbook
>by not purchasing their gas! And, we can do that WITHOUT hurting ourselves.
>How?
>Since we all rely on our cars, we can't just stop buying gas. But we CAN
>have an
>impact on gas prices if we all act together to force a price war.
>
>Here's the idea:
>
>For the rest of this year, DON' T purchase ANY gasoline
>from the two biggest companies (which now are one), EXXON and MOBIL. If
>they are
>not selling any gas, they will be inclined to reduce their prices. If they
>reduce their prices, the other companies will have to follow suit.
>
>But to have an impact, we need to reach literally
>millions of Exxon and Mobil gas buyers. It's really simple to do! Now,
>don't
>wimp out at this point.... keep reading and I'll explain how simple it is
>to
>reach millions of people.
>
>I am sending this note to 30 people. If each of us sends
>it to at least ten more (30 x 10 =3D 300) ... and those 300 send it to at
>least
>ten more (300 x 10 =3D 3,000)...and so on, by the time the message reaches
>the
>sixth group of people, we will have reached over THREE MILLION consumers.
>If
>those three million get excited and pass this on to ten friends each, then
>30
>million people will have been contacted! If it goes one level further, y ou
>guessed it..... THREE
> >>>>HUNDRED MILLION >>>>PEOPLE!!!
>
>Again, all you have to do is send this to 10 people.
>That's all. (If you don't understand how we can reach 300 million and all
>you
>have to do is send this to 10 people.... Well, let's face it, you just
>aren't a
>mathematician. But I am, so trust me on this one.)
>
>How long would all that take? If each of us sends this
>e-mail out to ten more people within one day of receipt, all 300 MILLION
>people
>could conceivably be contacted within the next 8 days!!!
>
>I'll bet you didn't think you and I had that much
>potential, did you?
>
>Acting together we can make a difference. If this makes
>sense to you, please pass this message on. I suggest that we not buy from
>EXXON/MOBIL UNTIL THEY LOWER THEIR PRICES TO THE $1.30 RANGE AND KEEP THEM
>DOWN.
>
>THIS CAN REALLY WORK.
>

Houston, United States(Zone 9b)

=) LOL pebble, I've seen this forward going around. I don't really blame the oil industry though. I just hope we can finally start expanding our own resources here in the states to make a change. Do you know what the USD conversion is for the price you are paying in Turkey?

Bodrum, Turkey(Zone 10a)

well.....let me figure this out. We are now paying just a bit over 3 ytl for a liter. (1.3 ytl per dollar) that is 2.31 usd per LITER, there are 3.785 liters per galon, so that is $8.74 per gallon that we pay here for our gas.......................... OH MY GOD, I need to quit driving around all over the place.....
I just came back from Izmir, which usually costs me about 100 lira, one way, but I took the bus back cause I had driven up with my husbad who will stay a couple of extra days, the bus only cost me 15 lira..... hmmmmm there's something to be said about the bus system

Houston, United States(Zone 9b)

OUCH! Wow that is incredible!!!

I saw something really funny today at Lowe's (home improvement store). A man loading up his hybrid car (because he cares about the environment I'm sure) with 2 gallons of oil based paint and 7 bags of Ortho's top bug killer.

Fritch, TX(Zone 6b)

cool LOL... paid 2.85.9 the other day...

Houston, United States(Zone 9b)

$2.59 Walmart San Antonio this morning.

Mesilla Park, NM

It looks like the prices have not changed too much now, how are the rates doing in your area..?? I'll post the gas prices here in Southern New Mexico tomorrow. I'll start thread number three for 2010 and 2011 soon. It will be nice to compare the changes from State to State.

Lexington Park, MD

$ 2.59 right now but goes up never seems to go down below that though.

Mesilla Park, NM

In Houston, TX by Tir_Na_Nog, the post before mine dtd 2006 was 2.59 also, very interesting that it was the same as yours is today. It looks like it has been very stable except the day before holiday's. It will be interesting to see what this next year brings.

Lexington Park, MD

Sorry it is $2.69. I drove by a gas station that has been closed for several years but still has sign out front with price of $1.35. Need to see if still there get a picture.

Victoria Harbour, ON

You'd hate to pay our prices $1.04 a litre

Lexington Park, MD

What is a litre compared to a gallon?
