Oh Mitch, you have lucked out and met one of our areas most generous gardeners! Sylvia is just too sweet! We were on another gardening board and met at a small swap...year before last I believe. I had no idea that she was on here too. Sounds like her Obedient plant is still growing strong!
DALLAS PLANT SWAP!
Sylvia the directions you outlined are fine, except when you are coming south on Fielder, you turn right on to Arkansas lane, not left, then pass Bowen road first light Roosevelt next stop sign, then next light Spanish trail at the park.
I didn't want you to get lost. Josephine.
Good Josephine! I gave her those from trying to read what the map said I have here! I glad I got that close!
KBlond - I have meet the best, between Josephine and Sylvia from down here and now Sylvia in Dallas - IMHO we have the best and most giving gardeners in the whole of Daves.
Mitch your directions were good ...Josephine is good back up ...the two of you work wonders together ...which made it a most rewarding day! learned a lot and made a lot of new friends. How I ended up with so much stuff i'll never know. if it wasnt for frank I would have never gotton all that stuff to the car. lol It was hot and I was having one of my senior moments ...Shelia asked me if i felt ok ...and told me believe it or not, you looked flushed! lol ...so if you missed me ... I just went to the car and babysit malachi!
one of these days i am going to learn to take pictures .... like whats this? lol
Sylvia, thank you for putting those up so promptly, they look great, now please get some rest. Josephine.
Hi Sylvia, nice pictures! I enjoyed meeting you and the others today. Frank was a God send today, I think he made trips for everyone! Frostweed posted more pics on a thread Mitch started. If you look on there you can see your "rosie" cheeks in the picture of you and MaggieMoo. LOL!
Sheila
It was fun - but got to admit this morn I am rather sore after all the moving of plants! They cover the porch, the walkway, and part of the lawn - it was so great to meet everyone we have the best group in the whole metroplex. Next year? Oh yea, but it will be cooler I hope!
It was great to meet everyone. Thanks to those that were still there at 1:30 to meet us late arrivals! I have yet to inventory all of my goodies that I have, as I was only home 10 minutes before leaving again for soccer. I wish I would have had time to help more people make trips to their cars!
Yes, next time, lets just meet in a shady parking lot and unload around our cars!
It is SO good to have faces with names... I will try to get my photos cropped and posted later today!

Wonderful pics, Sylvia!
It was so good to see old friends & meet new ones!
I had a great time, & the swap "made" me do something I've been wanting to do for some time:
I got up this morning & made a little bog/pond garden with the wonderful plants I got at the swap!
It isn't the cool thing I described earlier, but I did it all by myself (half whiskey barrel, rubbermaid tote for a "liner", insulated between barrel & liner with straw, filled tote/liner with water, sank pots to support the pots with plants in 'em, plants in pots with rocks on top to secure plants & soil, voila!), & I'm thrilled with it!
The land-lover plants are still in their pots & boxes for today, but they're all in shade & all have been watered.
Yes, Frank was a *life-saver*!
Thank you so much, Frank!
Thanks to everybody, & I hope to see you all again in Fort Worth in November!
Sylvia II
It was good to visit with everyone. I have a boat load of plants to find "homes" for. I just hope I can remember who is who. Guess I'll find out in the sping when they bloom. Next year I'm bringing a wagon, whew were we pooped after hauling all those darlings back to the car.
Thank you Frostweed for arranging the meeting. Have a blessed day.
Carolyn
Thanks to Everyone it was a great sucess, and yes, I don't know what we would have done without Frank, he was a great helper.
Mitch did a lot of work too, but he was a little slowed down taking care of Malachi, what a sweet little boy he is, he didn't cry once.
My plants are waiting to be planted too, but I also got them watered this morning, it will be a lot of fun setting out all those new arrivals.
Did we have two Carolyns or did I get the names mixed up?
If I did I am sorry and I apologize, Will you please straighten me out?
Josephine.
We have a Cynthia, she came earlier, and a Carolyn, she came with Mel!
Thank you Mel, I edited the names on the pictures, I apologize again. Josephine.
I had a great time yesterday! It was so nice to meet everyone...Mary, Ted, Sylvia, Sheila, Carolyn (who I know all about, but never met!). I've "met" the couple that brought the Lemon grass etc. at another swap. They are so sweet but I think they must just lurk. I hope Mary and Ted had safe, cool trips home. Sylvia, I hope you got all that stuff out of your car! lol She loaded up!
It looks like there are some clouds coming my way now so I might get outside and plant some of my things. :) As much as I love my plants, I really love the just getting together and chatting! Mary understands, someone who can talk back to me about dirt and compost! lol And to top it all off, I got pickles and a pretty glass jar to remember Mitch by! That Malachi is a real trooper!
I was beat from the heat and the wind and the lugging plants. I think we decided that we probably don't need to bring so much stuff and gather closer to the cars. I think Frank would agree! Josephine, do tell Frank THANK YOU for being so helpful! (And he never complains!) Let's do it again, but I think just sitting inside somewhere to eat is a good idea too.
