Bump!
We need some activity, somebody say something.
I'm planning on coming but I have no idea what plants I'll have. Now that school has started I might be able to pot up something. I doubt I'll be eating, just bringing plants. I've only been to one swap but we spent so much time talking that eating too wasn't possible. lol
I'm not going to be able to make it - I will be in Pensylvania for a day or so then, and thats a bit far. Pity because I've grown some seeds specially - Papaya - and they are doing great. Never mind next time.
I'm still planning to come, just wish gas wasn't a gazillion dollars/gal. I've been pretty low physically lately, and I'm so bad at propagation, I'm trying to come up with something that I can bring. I think I will be posting my haves/wants later tonight, but mostly I just want to meet everyone... and get John's crossvine to him, lol!!
I'm also updating the links to this event on the Calendar of Events.
Thank you, Konkreteblond, Okus and Maggiemoo, I was beginning to wonder if anyone would come.
I am sorry you can't make it Carol, like you said, next time.
Mary, I undertand about the gas expense, and thank you for updating the links to the threads.
Paige you know we would love to see you too.
Josephine.
I hope to come, but our soccer schedule does not come out until after labor day! I will know more then. IF I do come, I won't be bringing or eating... Just wanna do the plant talk/meet thing! I'm sure I will bring some Iced Tea for me! Another new friend, Carolyn is planning on coming... so I think as we go along, it will take shape!
mel
Like Mel, I have to wait until the Volleyball schedule is out to completely commit. But none the less I'm potting up a few plants just in case I can come.
To swap:
Coneflowers
Rudbeckia
Rock rose
Mint
Salvia Greggi
Sedum
Want:
Golden Rod
Frostweed
Carolyn, Grandview, Johnson County
Carolyn, I will take some of your Rock Rose. How many Goldenrod and Frostweed would you like ?
Josephine.
My oh my... I just re read my post, I said I won't be bringing or eating... I MEANT.. food! If I am coming, I will bring whatever plants I can get dug up or rooted in the next 4 weeks!
How rude of me!
mel
I knew that is what you meant, Mel. I hope you can make it.
Josephine.
Okay, I'm still planning on coming, depending on how things are going with my FIL. Here are my lists.

Mary, I would like some of your Mealy cup sage.
The Frostweed, Carolina Phlox and Brazos Penstemon do well in part shade. How many would you like?
Josephine.
Maggie - would the Henry Duelberg Sage be a fair trade for the oleander?
Josephine, would it be greedy to ask for two of each? I would love at least one of each. I'll have some Mealy Cup sage for you.
Mitch, I'll be happy to give you some Henry Duelberg. You might be on the short end of the stick, though, as they will be cuttings. Do you want anything else?
oh a touch a mealy cup would be great... if its not to much to ask?
You've got it, thanks!
Thanks! I am getting really pumped!
hmmm..on a Sunday...a good day. 11oclock...I should be able to see my way. I know nothing about swapping plants or how to prepare them for swapping. What I bring will be freshly dug up or ready to root. i.e. three types of Sedum, Lamb's ear, trumpet vine. if you propagate... Chinese Fringe,Lady Banks rose bush, Bluebird hibiscus, white hibicus with red throat.
Dish: Homemade vegetable salsa with chips or Chicken Salad. A jar of Mojitos????lol
I want some Phlox...:)
Sylvia
Sylvia - would love some lambs ear - anything other then phlox intrest you?
Mitch..how soon can you get over here? I was trying to dig out the Confedrate Jasmine to place it in a sunnier area...had to dig out the Lambs ear first and I dont feel like replanting it. Email me ...maybe I can send it to you.
I would like some of these Cat whiskers I hear everyone talking about. What you got?
Sylvia
Mary, I forgot the Turk's cap and Flame Acanthus do well in semi shade too.
Would you like some of those also?
Josephine.
Josephine, I have a couple of Turk's cap (love them!), but would love some Flame Acanthus, thanks!
Very good, I will have to do a recap and note all the requests, this is getting exciting,
Josephine.
Hi everyone! I plan to be there but don't know at this time what I will be bringing. My gardening has been somewhat curtailed these past few months (as well as my time on DG) but I will definitely be able to divide a few things this year. Looking forward to seeing some of you again and meeting the rest of you! (Carol, sorry to miss you and Richard).
Terrie
Hi!
I'm a new member, just joined 'cause a friend told me about this place.
I'd love to come to the swap, but where is Veterans Park?
I'd be coming west on I-20 (from Dallas area, toward Ft Worth).
I have:
Kwanzo daylilies
chocolate mint
obedient plant ("invasive" but so good for color this time of year in difficult sun-baked places)
four o'clocks, 2 shades of pink, don't know which is which
lamb's ears
Brazilian rock rose
cannas, tall orange, tall orange that's more pastel, tall yellow Conestoga
may have some unnamed iris
wants:
maggiemoo, I'd love some cat's whiskers,
but the only part-shade plants I have are:
purple Louisiana iris,
a little bit of white butterfly ginger,
& maybe some hostas if they haven't been completely devoured yet.
I also have some miniature climbing vinca growing up a tree trunk;
it isn't rooted, but it's supposed to be easy to root.
& I have Asian jasmine groundcover, for full sun.
If anyone is interested, I can bring seedling trees:
pecan
golden rain
redbud
to eat?
Hmm, this is not my strong suit.
Probably better if I bring some of Mrs Albertson's cake!
Hello Texasgreen, we are very glad you joined this wonderful group and that you will be coming to the swap. If you go to the Sticky thread at the top of the Texas Gardening forum you will find the directory there, with the maps and directions to the swap.
We are looking forward to meeting you in person.
Josephine.
texasgreen,
Welcome! I'll have some cat's whiskers with your name on them. I'd love some LA iris, have been wanting some for a while now.
LOL, Mrs. Albertson's cake. I hear she's a pretty good cook!
Thanks!
I found the sticky, & it sounds easy.
& I've been wanting some cat's whiskers since I saw it blooming at FW Botanic Gardens.
Frostweed would love a little of the following -
Purple Coneflowers, Frostweed, Purple Fall Aster, Cedar Sage, Flame Acanthus, Frogfruit
Crossvine, and 2 Pecan
Let me know what you want me to bring you cutting wise or soil stuff. Your plant really have stood the test over here when nothing else wants to grow, you have the touch - Mitch
O.K. Mitch you go it, I will recap soon and see where I am with the remaining plants but I shoud still have plenty left.
I am getting very excited at the prospect of seeing everyone.
I will check over your list of plants and see if there are some I need.
Josephine.
Check in the Daves mail I have sent you too - there are a few I picked up in San Ann area that I can give you cuttings of (just please please please tell me how so I get them right!)
Mitch, I could probably use some smooth Sumac, Pidgeon Berry, and Vitex.
It you want to do some practice potting cuttings, we could get together and have a session and hope it all works out.
I don,t have 100% sucess rate, but at least 90% which is not bad, although with this heat it is a lot harder.
Let me know what you would like to do.
Josephine.
Gee Frostweed, are you going to do this at the Swap? I sure would like to be in on that. if mine dont root in water...I am lost!
Sylvia
