Went and had my blood work done for my upcoming physical - darn girl couldn't find the order for the bloodwork - looked for a coon's age - finally just took it. She was new on the job - at least she was a good poker. Stopped at McDonalds for a breakfast burrito - yum and a diet...double yum.
Picked up a friend and went to the mall to return an extra wedding dress - but forgot the receipt at home. I got it at Younkers and the snip of a sales clerk wouldn't even look it up on my account - said they didn't do it anymore- so much for customer service!! Now I have to go back later in the week - grrr They would only give me a fraction of what I paid for it, so I really needed the receipt. I got it back in April, so I hope I don't get a hassle returning it. The sales clerk assured me that there would be no problem.
DH just came home from work and is totally drenched. I need to go get him a glass of cold tea....
Coffee and...Part 21...! :-D
Blooms.
Feel free to use Nowt wherever its appropriate. It says your there and listening, just not talking!

Blooms, I loved the tub photo (nightowls thread)! You go, Girl!
I've spent the better part of the afternoon getting ingredients ready to make a stab at Key Lime Marmalade. Couldn't find a recipe so I'm adapting a lime recipe. I have zested 50 tiny key limes (2 pounds), and then squeezed the juice, which gave me just 1 cup of juice, and shrivelled fingers, LOL. The recipe doesn't say how much juice volume, just 3 pounds of persian limes juiced, so I'm doing a shot in the dark!
Now the zest, juice and water (plus seeds and pulp in a cheesecloth bag) have to sit overnight before starting the cooking process.
I had thought I'd make a key lime pie tonight with the other bag of key limes but right now I cannot face more of those tiny green suckers.
Thatsa gonna be some marmalade. Stingy little suckers, those key limes, and that takes zesting to new heights. I'll bet it's a treat when its finished though.
LOL, I sure hope it's worth my effort, Robert! The recipe called for peeling the limes. I peeled one, and that just wasn't gonna work unless I devoted the rest of the week to it. Even zesting wasn't fun.
That's too bad Darius, you know, it might be easier to use grapefruit and Key Lime Jello. LOL
Nah... not my style, LOL.
ROFL you _dared_ suggest???? /;-)~
Sorry, it must be the heat!
Haven't had time to check in today. I didn't think I had much to do today. I went this morning and finished laying tile on DM back porch. Then wandered into the garden. I found tons of tomatoes that DH had missed picking the night before. Picked green beans, yellow squash and beets. Came home and started processing all that. Ended up with 4 quarts tomato juice, 5 quarts green beans, and 2 pints of pickled beets. I will tackle the squash tomorrow. I was just foolin around last week, thinking there had to be something else I could do with the squash. Ground up yellow squash, onion, cucumber and green pepper and made a relish out of it. Quite tasty. I will do that tomorrow, and note the amounts of each I use, if anyone would be interested in the recipe. Gave some to neighbor to try and some to DM and got good reviews from both. So it must not be too bad. Well, for sure I am not going exploring in the garden tomorrow. I am painting DM front porch tomorrow, and when that is finished, coming home to pull weeds. Meezer, glad to hear your company is gone. Julie 88, I love my DGD but sometimes the summer seems soooo long. She is good, but just the extra work of cooking and laundry gets me down. This in addition to everything else I have to do. Her school starts on August 10, so it won't be too much longer. Will check in tomorrow. You all stay well, and out of trouble tonight!! LOL
To all - I was inspired this morning when I opened the door and thought I'd share this with you. All of you are dear to my heart and I hope you have a blessed day.
I saw a rainbow this morn
When I opened my door
I thought to myself
This has to be more
Than a mere natural event
Caused by light and cold vapor
Perhaps it was more
Than a heavenly favor
So I thanked nature for giving
A gift so divine
And I started to think of
All gifts that are mine
My family so dear
And the love that we share
My friends near and far
Who love me and care
My home filled with love
And the animals that own me
My ability to provide them
With love and full tummies
My dear husband who’s there
Through the thick and thin
I have no doubt in my mind
That I’d marry him again
And so my day started
Thinking of all these blessings
And I knew right away
That I wasn’t missing
The point nature made
When she showed me the light
That my life is so full and
I’m doing something right
To the rainbow I saw
When I opened my door
Thank you for sharing
You couldn’t have meant more.

How lovely, Marcia!
Thank you for shareing your lovely poem. It encourages me to stop and count my many blessings also.
((hugs))
Pati
glad you all are enjoying it.....just kind of popped into my head! (Lots of space there you see - LOL!)
What a lovely poem you've written... echoes my feelings ... thanks so much
Julie... This thread is getting long to load for me on dial-up. Time for a new one?
Marcia, you are so talented. It would have taken me forever to have put that together. Good sentiments. What a way to start the day.
Lovely, thank you for sharing it with us!
very nice!
Doing the domestic goddess thing today - I hate dishes!! Washing clothes isn't so bad... lol Gotta made a choc. cake. DGD requested on for mommy s birthday today.
Chocolate cake!! Put it on the counter, we haven't had bakery in days!! Happy BD to your daughter..... and pass the cake!
I'm with you M5, counter has been empty. Guess I had better get busy!
Rats! My Key Lime Marmalade may turn into 7 pints of key lime marinade... hasn't jelled yet. All have sealed, though. I think there was not enough pectin in all the seeds, but I also cut the sugar in half. Tasted nicely sweet and tart.
I'll post a photo tomorrow when there's better light for a picture. It's really pretty!
Hello, I brought ice cream and assorted toppings for the kitchen counter! It's that kind of day, currently 90 degrees with about 10% humidity and no wind. I just made my weekly shopping trip and came home asap after getting the groceries since I forgot to take the ice chest for the cold stuff. You know how that running late thing goes.... all the things I was going to do after I showered went fluttering away like butterflies when I looked at the clock and realized I needed to leave about 5 minutes ago. The recycle stuff was already in the pickup or I would have left it for next week.
Marcia, thanks for sharing your poem with us. Sometimes I write things down that come into my head, but most often I think I will remember them later and they never come back.
Today's newspaper from Portland had a story in it about a man who was missing on a fishing trip and presumed drowned about 15 years ago. They found his boat and fishing gear, an extensive search was made and it was assumed that he had fallen overboard into the river and his body had been carried out to sea. He was finally declared dead, a memorial service was held, his wife sold his share of the business and finished raising their 3 children and eventually remarried. About a year ago the missing husband wrote a letter to his sister. He's been living quietly in Idaho with a co-worker from his business. This woman even went to the memorial service and sighed the guest book! I think these two deserve each other! The statute of limitations has run out on the insurance his widow collected so she does not have to pay it back and he has committed no crime so there is apparently nothing anybody can do. His wife (widow) does not want to talk to him and I can't blame her. What good would it do after all these years? Emagine having your life disrupted that way only to find out he was just a runaway husband who eventually resurfaces to disrupt it again. Apparently his conscience was bothering him. I guess this sort of thing happens often without quite the same twists as this story. My paternal grandmother had a similiar story in her own life but her "dead" husband turned up just soon enough that she had to pay back the insurance settlement.
Take care, stay cool, dry or whatever it is you need.
If DH did that to me, I would make sure the next time he was really DEAD. What a mean thing to do. Can you imagine going through all that wondering, then the memorial service, and then him surface again?
I agree!
I think it would be a terribly mean, self-centered, uncaring person who could do that to their spouse and KIDS!!! That sucks even worse! Talk about screwing with their minds...it is just plain dispicable.... and with that off my chest---
how about a piece of chocolate cake? with vanilla buttercream icing! (both scratch, of course! LOL) DGD had to go practice at 7 for the Little Miss Pageant, DH didn't get home til 6:30, and MIL can't wait that long, so no party tonight. DH and I had some cake with icecream, tho. :) Have some, it's really yummy! so moist, melt in your mouth......
What a rat!! String him up!! Pass me the cake with extra ice cream....second thought- give me two pieces!!
It is still nice here- but supposed to make a turn around tomorrow to hot and humid again. I need to finish weeding today while it is still bearable. Our 8 yr old neighbor boy came over yesterday and told me he kept an eye on my flowers while we were gone for ten days. He said - some were wilting and I watered them for you. What a sweet heart. I had asked someone to keep an eye on them, but she only came everyother day and it was a scorcher, so I was happy he snooped around!! A budding gardener I think!
I spent the entire day shopping again....got all my errands done except groceries. i'll save that for tomorrow. And of course spent more money.....this needs to stop!!
All the kids stopped in for dinner last night. I told them I wasn't cooking - so oldest DS got Taco Bell for everyone - what a nice treat...I feel bad doing that, but what the heck, once in a while it doesn't hurt them to buy for me!!
We still have that nasty raccoon in our barn- leaving big plops of you know what all over.
bb - nice poem.
gonna take a garden stroll in my pj's!! Take care!!
Wonderful poetry, Marcia!
Shame on that runaway husband, Mary, SHAME SHAME SHAME on him.
Sarv...you *forgot* the groceries? LOL Or did you just want a reason to go shopping again today?
Darius, I have some Plum jam that did the same thing...made terrific ice cream topping. I'll bet yours would be super over a cheesecake. (Hint)
It's THUNDERING here! OMG! Does that mean there *might* be rain moving this direction??? (Probably another 'hole' in the clouds that we'll get instead...but I'll keep my fingers crossed anyway!)
Here's the link to the new thread.

Sorry I let it go so long. It's babysitting week.
(OH and Bonnie...I certainly didn't mean to make you think I don't absolutely LOVE my DGD to 'liddle biddie pieces'. She turns *2* next week and positively exhausts my soon to be 60 y/o brain. Not that that would be hard to do in any situation where I had to *think*.)
TTYL
~julie~
Edited to paste in the link I forgot while writing that note for Bonnie...see I told you my brain was exhausted! LOL
