I am a Reds fan just not as much as I am for the Indians. So when it comes down to the Indians vs. Reds then I'm an Indians fan. I just finished listening to the Reds game. It was refreshing after that lousy Indians game. The Indians had it clear up to the 9th and then blew it. The Reds do look good so far. I hope to get to a couple of games this year. I'm going to see the Indians on the 29th of May. Maybe I'll get to see the Reds in June or July.

We are going to go see the Columbus Clippers next weekend. Me and Kimberley are going with my two brothers and my niece and nephew.

Well the Braves finally came through. Great defense as they won 2-1 but it took 13 innings and 6 double plays. Chipper Jones went 4-6 with two rbi's and a game winning home run. Now if he gets hot and stays hot they will stand a chance. Two of the starters out with injuries they suffered in opening day loss.

Newark, OH(Zone 5a)

Man great game for the Indians today. They came back in the 9th from being behind 5 to 1 or 5 to 2 not sure which, to tie it up and send it into extra innings. Then scored 6 more in the 10th to clinch it.

Reds also won today.

Cincinnati (Anderson, OH(Zone 6a)

oh, I guess I got my 'kathys' and 'kellis' mixed up. Sorry. I didn't mean to talk politics, I was just throwing in some presidential baseball trivia in response to kelli's post...

the Reds won again today...Howie, this could be the year...I think we should get a group of DGers together to buy the 51%. What do you think? t.

Newark, OH(Zone 5a)

That would be awesome. And I would wear the team jersey too. I was just telling Kimberley today you see all these owners and they don't even where the team colors. They are always in a suit. Man if I had that kind of money and owened a team I would be in jeans and jersey all the time. Hummm maybe that's why I don't have all that money.LOL

Newark, OH(Zone 5a)

Hey Dori how did you like that game tonight. Sorry could not pass up the chance to rib you.

lagrange, GA(Zone 7a)

Well everyone check in on where your team stands at this point and time. Glad to say the Braves have taken over first place. Due to excellent defense, 3 more double plays tonight and Furcal is making plays at short stop like I haven't seen in a long time. Still not a lot of hitting. Sort of feel sorry for the Mets, they look like a lost team already. Sloppy play in the field. Piazza couldn't throw out grandma moses at second base. Now for the Braves Estrada threw out two trying to steal. Sunday's game I imagine will be a sell out. Smoltz going against the former Red Sox ace Pedro Martinez. Should be exciting to see two former Cy Young winners going against each other. Our home town hero Mike Cameron plays for the Mets and is on the injured list at the present time. Now he is not a hero just because he plays in the major league but because he gives back to the community. He spent big bucks putting in an inside hitting cage in a building he had erected next to the high school baseball field. My grandson has used it several times in the last few years. Mainly for use by the high school team, however they do let the youth all star teams use it.

Newark, OH(Zone 5a)

Indians are coming back with two good wins. I think they will have a strong team this year. We are in Second right now but will change that when we get another chance at the White Sox next week. Reds lost there first game tonight but looked really good the last three. I think they will have a good team this year. I hope Griffy can keep from hurting himself this year.

Fenton, MO(Zone 5b)

Cardinals won their home opener Friday, it was nice to be back in the park. They aren't doing real hot at this point, but the beginning of the year is never a true look at a ball club anyway. Last year we really lagged the first month and then they found their niche. Hope the same is true this year.

Heres Eckstein coming into score Friday, we won 6-5. (given to us by their relievers)

Wow what a game the Braves and the Mets had going. Smoltz struck out 15 through 6 innings and was leading 1-0 going into the eight. He was quite good but the mets pulled it out in the eight. It was a good game until Smoltz ran out of steam. Braves 4-2 for the season. Not to bad.

Newark, OH(Zone 5a)

I just finished watching the Indians game. I taped it today. And I did not even fast forward the end. They won 2 out of 3 with Detroit and have there home opener tomorrow with the White sox. We just bought our tickets for Mermorial day weekend. I took your advice Jim and paid a little more for the tickets. Got a good deal on 30 dollar seats for 25 a piece. Here is where we will be sitting. I can't wait.

That is a great site. We got seats in row A. That will be so nice not having anyone if fornt of us at that level anyway. I am so excited this will be my first MLB game. Ought to make for a good birthday weekend.

L.A. (Canoga Park), CA(Zone 10a)

Hey, a picture of Eckstein! Cool! He wasn't one of my top five favorite Angels, but I did like him and you gotta love the effort he puts into everything.

We've gotten good basketball tickets from stubhub. The last time we went, we were in the first row right behind the courtside seats, but at about 1/10 the price of courtside seats. (It was a Clipper game, which is much cheaper than a Laker game, but I like the Clippers. There really is someone who likes the Clippers.)

The Dodgers are doing pretty well, but I won't say too much about them. Don't want to jinx them. The Angels are pretty so-so. Their starting pitching isn't worth a nickel and the whole team has gone into a group hitting slump. Right now, the Rangers are beating up on them.

Newark, OH(Zone 5a)

Well the Indians lost there home opener. I feel for all the people that went to the game. Sure would have been nice to have a win but that's the way the game goes.

Fenton, MO(Zone 5b)

I think maybe the Cardinals are finally warming up. Scott Rolen began to hit today, with one being a homer. Pujols got a home yesterday. Before that Jim Edmonds and Reggie Sanders was trying to hold the whole team up.

I hope when you guys go to a game you take some pictures of the parks to post. I'd love to see them.

Newark, OH(Zone 5a)

Oh you will see pics from me I'm sure to have my camra handy. I'm taking some at are local AAA team tomorrow. We are going to see the Columbus Clippers. Can't wait.

Ok here comes my AAA story for today. First picture is the Columbus Clippers Pitcher Chien-Ming Wang.

Here's another Mariners fan!! I am a bit disappointed, though, that many of my favorite players are gone. Especially Edgar (who I'm distantly related to-- close enough for bragging rights, though!). At least we still have Ichiro. My husband and I recently visited Japan, and as soon as we said "Seattle Mariners" and "Ichiro," everyone loved us! It was especially neat that we were in Japan when Ichiro broke the hitting record last fall.

Newark, OH(Zone 5a)

This was a great game and the Clippers lead it into the 8th by 3 runs. The knights came back to tie it up but here is a picture of Mitch Jones scoring the wining run in the 12th.

Danak, you've got Beltre now. DH and I loved him when he was with the Dodgers.

The last time we went to a game (about a year ago), I got a seat right beside the bullpen. That was cool. I can't take pictures very well through a chain link fence, so I didn't take many pictures of the guys in there, but this is the one that came out the best. This is the starting pitcher Odalis Perez warming up.

This is a picture of Dodger Stadium that I think shows the vastness of the place. Also note the different colored seat for each level. I like that. Maybe it screams "1962", but that's when the place was built (and making it the oldest ML stadium still in use west of Wrigley Field). The new owner wants to put in new seats that are all the same color. Boring!!! Note the girls standing by the wall, hoping for autographs and flirting opportunties. ;-) They are ubiquitous.

The zig-zag roofs over the outfield pavilions are also distinctive (and screaming "1962"). We like to get to the game really early and people watch.

Here we are way out in left field at the Angels Stadium. It's a nice park and all but it lacks the character of Dodger Stadium.

Thumbnail by Kelli
lagrange, GA(Zone 7a)

Kelli did you make those pictures of those girls or did your husband?

Well the Braves have lost two one run games. 2-1 AND 2-1. Two great pitching efforts by the starters but the bull pen is weak.

L.A. (Canoga Park), CA(Zone 10a)

I took the picture with the girls. We have a story about girls like that that has become an ingrained part of our family "culture". I'll tell the story, though it is probably one of those things that you would have to have been there to really appreciate. I'm sure it won't come out nearly as funny as it was in real life.

We were at an Angels game. The Angels were playing Oakland and Barry Zito was pitching for Oakland. We were sitting way out in left field, as shown in my Angel Stadium photo, and as always, we got to the game really early. The bullpens at that stadium are right in front of the left field seats. There was this girl standing nearby who was obviously on a man hunt. I don't remember anything about what she looked like or what she was wearing, except she was wearing a Barry Zito halter top. (In enemy territory, no less!) We referred to her as the Zito girl. She hung around for a while and then went over to the field level seats in the area where the pitchers come out on the field. Eventually Zito came out and ran right past her without as much as a glance. Poor Zito girl! But from then on, we refer to these sorts of girls as "Zito girls".

I'd tell you how the Dodgers are doing, but I don't want to jinx them. The Angels have been sort of so-so. They did manage to beat ol' Barry Zito on Friday. Come to think of it, he's really gone downhill since that Zito girl incident.

L.A. (Canoga Park), CA(Zone 10a)

See the people standing along the wall at the lower right? The Zito girl was standing in that corner, though she isn't in the picture. Down below where the guy wearing shorts is standing, that is where the pitchers come out.

Okay, now I want to post some of my favorite Mariner's game moments:

Mariners fans, remember when the Mariners won the 2001 AL West Championship, shortly after 9/11? Here's they are remembering the victims of the terrorist attacks, right before Mike Cameron walked the flag around the bases:

And a view of Safeco Field with downtown Seattle in the background. Unfortunately the roof was closed this day, as it is all too often here...

You all have some great shots. I can't wait to post some of Jacobs field when I go next month. You don't realize how good pro ball players are until you go watch a team like the Clippers. A lot of mistakes that you don't usualy see in pro ball.
