Molina's not working out?
Baseball fans
He's certainly doesn't come remotely close to Matheny at the plate. He's young, inexperienced and has a mind of his own.. like running stop signs from the 3rd base coach. Normal, fundamental baseball rules... write them down and study them Molina. And yes I know I have a chip on my shoulder over the Matheny release, but thats the way I feel.
That's too bad. I like the Molinas of Anaheim, especially Bengie Molina.
Extra innings, Howie. You still up?
Yes I was still up and am still disapointed. They just can't seem to get it together. They are going to get left behind by the White Sox if they don't watch it.
Oh I'm sure they'll win at least 1 of thier games here this weekend....hopefully not Sunday while I'm there watching the game though :-)
For you I hope not Sunday also. I know when I go next month I want to see my team win. Kind of a bummer when you pay all that money and they lose.
Agreed......but knowing how my luck goes they'll win tonight and tomorrow and lose while I'm there :-(
Oh well......................
Went to the game tonight against the Astros, we ended up winning 8-7. I was with a group of 11 people, we did so much laughing and joking around, I'm not sure who got what.. oh, maybe it was what was in the cups that has clouded my mind. LOL Rather chilly, about 60 degrees.. alot of fun though.
The Dodgers are falling apart. Oh, me, oh my! :-(
Great pictures and I'm almost glad the M's one today. Glad for you anyway. LOL Looks like you had a great time.
It was a fantastic day! Win not withstanding............. Beautiful blue cloudless skies, warm Spring breeze off Puget Sound....just a gorgeous day.
Looks it was a great day to go to a ball game
Cool pics Rikerbear, glad you went to a winner! Love those great days at the ball park.
Neat shot with the bubbles, Rikerbear. Looks like an ideal day.
Those two girls with the bubble guns were a hoot.....the breeze took some of those bubbles all the way around the stadium. It was fun....just glad I was above them :-)
Great game for the Cardinals against the Red last night. We were down 9-3 going into the 9th and Jim Edmonds blasted a 3 run homer and Mabry a 2 run homer to put us on top 10-9. Awesome comeback, I got home from work in the 7th and things were darn bleak and getting bleaker, but I never give up on them. :)
Kathy, I've seen bits and pieces of some Cardinals games recently, and I see now why you aren't too enamored with the Molina kid.
Meanwhile, the Dodgers muddle along... :-(
Yeah, Molina is a mess. Sorry to say it, he's so young, but... thats the way it is for right now. Some doofy errors made by him. He's also the worse base runner I've ever seen. Last night he almost let the Reds get by with an error on his hit... slowing down when he ran to first after hitting the ball. They fumbled it and he got on base in the nick of time. Theres no excuse for ho hum running, hit the ball and run until they call you out!
Kathy, here's something on e-bay for you, or maybe you already have one. :-)

Here's something all you baseball fans can watch out for. We have several players from here that has made it to the major leagues and have a prospect this year. He plays short stop and pitches for the high school team here. He has been timed at 94-96 on his fastball. He is rated the number six player in the country. He had numerous offers for college and had said he intended to play college ball unless he is high in the draft. Looks like he won't be going to college. Just last week the Braves announced that they were going to draft him in the first round. Thursday three scouts from the Phillies came to their practice and got the coach to put him behind the plate and they timed him on how fast he could come up and throw to second. He did so good that now they intend to draft him as their number one pick and change him to a catcher. They are ahead of the Braves in choosing. This kid is named Brandon Monk. Just keep that name in the back of your mind.
This same school is where my grandson will start next year. The coach there has averaged over 20 wins a year over the last 16 years he has been here. They play an average of 25-26 games a year.
They have a web-site and the summer season is starting in a few weeks. I will post that site when the season gets started if any one is interested they can check it out.
My grandson is playing on a team waiting for the summer high school to start. He hasn't given up a run as yet and has struck out nine in a row in one game in which he only pitched 3 innings. And then struck out 6 in a row twice when he only pitched two innings. What his coach does is let him pitch enough to keep him sharp but not over pitch and hurt his arm this early in the season. The high school coach came to one of his games and said that he didn't need to throw his curve ball that his fast ball was good enough to live off of. Whether or not he ever makes it to the major league he sure is doing good now and I sure enjoy watching him play.
And the Braves have surprised me this year. They are doing better than I thought they would.

Thought I would bring this back up. The season is coming to an end. What's your thoughts? How is your team doing?
The indians are in first place for a wild card spot and have a chance of taking first in the central over the Whitesox. I would love to see them make the playoffs and maybe even the World Series.
Oh, man! The Dodgers turned out to be pretty awful. We didn't even bother to go to game this year, though we did watch virtually every game on t.v. and will continue to watch until the season is over. The Angels have managed to stay in first place in the AL West nearly every day this year. They really aren't all that great, at least not consistantly, so if they do make it to the postseason, I see them getting eliminated in the first round.
This year I learned to like the Braves. Still can't get myself to like the Cardinals, though. No offense intended, anyone. :-)
I'd like to see the Indians make the postseason. I've only been watching baseball since 2002, so for me that would be something new.
I went and seen the Indians for the first time this year so I think it would be cool to see them go all the way in the same year. I don't really think that's going to happen but you never know.
We went to an Angels game, which we have done before, and a Diamondbacks game, which we had never done before. I had posted pictures months ago. I'm sure you must have seen them.
Yes I was just looking at them when searching for this thread. I really enjoyed going and seeing the Indians. I had hoped to get back up but time and money did not allow this year.
DH has to tease me almost every day about Grady Sizemore. He was looking at a discussion forum and the girls were saying he was cute. DH was making fun of them to me and I said that I agree with them. So now he teases me. We both have fun with it.
:-)
St Louis Cardinals clinched the division a few days ago.
This year has been a tough one with alot of surprises:
-- 3rd baseman Scott Rolen has been out the majority of the year and won't come back until 2006. I not only miss his bat and defense, he's just plain fun to watch slide into the plates.
-- Right fielder Larry Walker out the majority of the year and came back after a few shots to his neck and did well, only to go back out again after a week. He's back in the line up once again and doing good. I loved Larry when he was with the Rockies.
-- David Eckstein has made everyone in St Louis say, Edgar whoooooo? Everyone loves his hustle and he's a blast to watch put his whole body into a throw to first base.
-- Sanders broke a leg, Molina broke a finger, Grudzalanek has been down a few times for short periods, meanwhile the Poo played on.
I know playoffs and world series are exciting, but I'm sad the season is coming to a close. It just doesn't seem that long ago I wrote the opening message.
Good luck to all! I'm pulling for the Indians in the American League and of course the Cardinals in the National League.
That would make for a fun match up. One of my friends at work is a die hard Card fan.
Got playoff tickets, Kathy?
I have Division game 5 and League game 7 tickets. So both playoffs would have to go to the full game count for me to see. And of course, we'd have to win the Division to even get into the League. All things pending, it would be exciting to see such games. I'll be there with my corny foam red cardinal hat on, you can bet!
No problem with the Cardinals winning the division. They don't seem to ever go into a slump. We'll be watching all the playoff games we have, so I'll look for you. ;-) Be sure to take pictures, too. BTW, why are they building a new stadium? On t.v. at least, the old one looks perfectly fine.
If I make it to a series, I'll surely take lots of pictures.
Busch Stadium was built in 1965 I think, it looks perfectly fine on the outside and especially fine arial view. As a fan, I said the same thing, because I really didn't see much wrong with it.
THEY say, (everyone is acquainted with THEY, THEY are really important people and THEY say alot of things, everyone listens to THEY) that Busch Stadium behind the scenes is in bad shape; plumbing, structural problems not visible to the fan or on camera.
I seem to think its more the good old American way, built in 1965? Its OLD! rip it down!
I'll be sad to see it go. Everyone wants a new ball park after awhile, I guess its St Louis's turn. The new style looks pretty awesome and will lend a great view on tv when they are showing a home run, the Arch will be directly behind 2nd base.

Well it looks like the Braves will make it 14 Division championships in a row. I think they will play Houston, the wild card team it looks like, or San Diego. Sure glad they won't have to tackle the Cards. Boy those Cards are tough. You know the best team don't always win and if the Cards find some way to win that will prove that point once again. The Braves are leading the National Leaaue in defense for a change but the bull pen falls apart until they get to the ninth and gets Farnsworth in. He is the only one in the bullpen doing anything worth while. The Braves won't go far because of the bullpen.
The Angels' bullpen is pretty scary, too.
DH thinks that the Indians are going to fizzle out. He says to me, "You won't be seeing Grady Sizemore in October." I said, "Who are you going to tease me about then?

I'm still here hoping. They are not starting out to good tonight. So he may be right. We will all know by the end of the week.
