Seattle, WA(Zone 8b)

I feel the flu coming on (caugh caugh) may have to call in sick on Monday so I can watch the Opening day game...2:00 PM day game. What were they thinking!!!! :-(

Fenton, MO(Zone 5b)

The video recorder is your friend Rikerbear. Wear earplugs into work that day and stay off the internet, so when you get home, you can sit and watch the recorded game and not know whats gonna happen. :) Almost everyone of our opening days have been on Monday. Our true first game this year is in Houston, so our home opener ended up on a Friday here. I work 10 hour days, Mon-Thurs and I'm off Friday. I got lucky!

Seattle, WA(Zone 8b)

I will more than likely TIVO the game and watch it later :-)

Newark, OH(Zone 5a)

I've done the record thing but it's just not the same. Knowing that I could fast forward and find out who won kind of ruins it. And I usally do fast forward. With baseball I'm fine just listening to the game and I can do that at work.

Oak Grove, MN(Zone 4a)

You know what's really bad? When you record the game but it runs long and the tape stops before the game ends! I nearly died of shock when that happened to me!

Seattle, WA(Zone 8b)

I always set my TIVO to record an extra hour just in case....it happened to us once (only once!) :-)

Newark, OH(Zone 5a)

Yep when ever I tape sports I just set it to tape on the whole six hour tape. That way I'm pretty sure of getting the whole game.

lagrange, GA(Zone 7a)

Well I checked the Braves schdule out and it is a 4:30 start also. Why would they do that to so many that will miss it. Seems to me they opening game they would want it to be at prime time. Of course they are playing in FL so that might be prime time there.
I will be sitting right in front of the TV. Bobbie also likes the Braves so it gives us something that we do together.

Good luck to all of your favorites. Some of us will be happy and some of us will be sad after the season is over. The good thing there is always next year and I have been waiting on next year a lot in my life time. I was a Brave fan back when they were last place every year. As a matter of fact they went from last to first I think in 1990 and have finished 1st every year since. A record in itself but it doesn't mean squat if you don't win the World Series.

Newark, OH(Zone 5a)

When I first started getting into baseball I chose the Indians over the Reds. I hate it when people jump on board because a team is wining. I always liked the underdog. So I went with the Indians. They did come around and made it to the WS in 95 and 97 but could not pull of a win. So I'm still waiting on that one. I'm sure you remember the 95 games Jim.

Seattle, WA(Zone 8b)

I am sure enjoying tonights exhibition game....Cubs and Mariners in Vegas.
I am SO happy baseball is back for the year. :-)

Newark, OH(Zone 5a)

I'm looking forward to it this year also. I did not pay as much atention to it last year. Pretty much just watched the World Series. Shame on me.

Kennewick, WA(Zone 6b)

Riker Bear
Isn't it great that they just tied it up!!!!

Newark, OH(Zone 5a)

I will have to switch to that game hear at work.

Seattle, WA(Zone 8b)

It's actually been a rather dull game....but I'm enjoying it none the less :-)

Seattle, WA(Zone 8b)

hehehehehehehe We won we won we won :-)

Fenton, MO(Zone 5b)

Congrats on the win. I am sooooooooooooooooo ready for baseball. I suffer withdrawal after the season ends.

Fenton, MO(Zone 5b)

ESPN2 tomorrow at 7:05 Central Time... Randy Johnson is pitching for the Yanks ...hehehe this will be fun. I hope the Red Sox nail his... nail him to that mound.

lagrange, GA(Zone 7a)

Well I know where I will be camping out tomorrow night.

Newark, OH(Zone 5a)

It's here all. Opening day has arrived. Go Boston! At least for tonight.

Newark, OH(Zone 5a)

Just looking at the weather for the Bronx. Opening day may have to wait until tomorrow.

L.A. (Canoga Park), CA(Zone 10a)

Uh, oh! Time conflict with the Red Sox game. Is on the same time as the Lakers game. I think I'd prefer the Red Sox game, since the Lakers are so awful this year. We'll see if DH has any strong feelings one way or another.

Newark, OH(Zone 5a)

Well I guess we can continue to hate the Yankees. Sure was not the game I expected. Thought it would be a little closer.

Bay City, MI(Zone 6a)

Im out of place cuz i luv the yankees!

Fenton, MO(Zone 5b)

Well notmartha, your allowed to love whoever you want to love, hon. LOL

I love the Cardinals. Our season starts Tuesday in Houston and our home opener is Friday here in St Louis. I'm going, can't wait to smell hotdogs and concrete again.

Newark, OH(Zone 5a)

Well being a Buckeye I would have to expect that from someone in MI. LOL We still love you though.

Newark, OH(Zone 5a)

Opening Day here in Ohio for the Reds. They are doing good so far. Indians game starts at 3 in Chicago. I have to go to work. Cough Cough I'm feeling sick. Oh but I have to go make that money. It's not fair I want to stay home.

Bay City, MI(Zone 6a)

tigers won they beat the royals

Howie my younger sister and I use to get in fist fights over

"my mom was a buckeye"

Newark, OH(Zone 5a)

I don't remember anyone if my family being huge sports fans. Not big enough to fight over there favorite team anyway. We fought over plenty of other things though.

My Indians lost. 1-0. At least the Reds won there home opener. I hope the Indians do the same next Monday.

Today is opening day for the Cardinals. GO CARDS! Carpenter vs Oswalt on pitching. I'll listen to it at work, may even catch the last inning or 2 after I get home. Depends on how long the game runs. Its been a long winter.

Newark, OH(Zone 5a)

I will be listing at work also. The guy next to me is a big Cards fan.

Fenton, MO(Zone 5b)

We won! :) If those like it did last year, we win in Houston's park, then Houston wins in our park. Go figure! Happy with the W!

lagrange, GA(Zone 7a)

Well the Braves tried to stink up the whole state of FL.
Geez no hitting, no pitching. Looks like no team.

Newark, OH(Zone 5a)

Yep that was not a good game for the braves. Indians did not pull it off yesterday either. Allthough it was close. Well at least some of the favorite teams here on this thread had good opening days.

Fenton, MO(Zone 5b)

Well, Smoltz is 38 years old, isn't that ancient for a pitcher? He was dynamite at one time, thought he was good as a closer. I just think he's finished, its hard for players to give it up.

L.A. (Canoga Park), CA(Zone 10a)

The Dodgers lost yesterday. I don't know if they are going to be worth a nickel this year. They got rid of so many players.

On the other hand, the Angels won. They do look like they are going to be a very good team.

lagrange, GA(Zone 7a)

I think Smoltz still has some life left in that arm. The problem with him has been if he is good, he is really good. And then if he is bad, he is really bad. What my thinking is on him is that he won't make it but for a month or so before the elbow, that he has had operated on several times, starts giving him problems. I think that was the reason they put him in the bullpen to start with to keep the wear and tear down on the elbow.

Cincinnati (Anderson, OH(Zone 6a)

kathi--those aren't just any hotdogs. Aren't those 'dodger dogs' you mean?

BUT, how 'bout those Reds? I think this year will be the year for them. We went to Opening Day, and what a fun game....

Howie, I think you should try to go with a winner in Ohio, especially this year. The Reds could use more fans.

Interesting about Pres. Bush going to the St. Louis opening day game last year, was it? ...I think it's because he is 'best friends' from college with the StL owners (DeWitts) and they were his campaign finance chairmen last year...could be that...I don't think it was just because of the cardinals...the DeWitts owned the Texas team with Bush, also...

Speaking of ownership, the Reds are up for sale (51%), does anybody want to buy a team? It could be fun....

It's fun lurking on this thread...please keep posting. ;-) t.

L.A. (Canoga Park), CA(Zone 10a)

Dodger dogs are the best!

Fenton, MO(Zone 5b)

tabasco.. i never said that President Bush was there because they were the St Louis Cardinals, what I said was he was a baseball fan. I would not expected him to be a Cardinal fan, having part owned the Texas Rangers. Missouri was a undecided state also in the election and it could of been a political play. However, I didn't want to talk politics in here, just wanted to show the pictures.

Fenton, MO(Zone 5b)

Those dern Astros got us today. Our hitting went to sleep, hehehehehehe. Kinda boring game, got our first big L under our belt. I'm still just as happy as flies on watermelon though, that baseball is in progress.
