Worst thing about DG?

Baytown, TX(Zone 9b)

76summerwind,

That is what I need my computer room to look like. That is way too funny.

Daves Garden is so addicting.

Rocky Mount, VA(Zone 7a)

I can't get anything done anymore - the brakes are out on the blazer, the leaves are pileing up, there are 2 computers to deliver, a network to fix (business costumer). I need to remove some of the trees from the yard (need more sun for the planned garden). Have to wake the wife in 15 minutes so she can go to the same factory that I have to go to in about 8 hours.- by the way outside temp 55.6 h 98 - wet and cold here now.

Kannapolis, NC(Zone 7b)

Guess what my DH said this weekend? I will be glad when all this (trading) is over! I didn't have the heart to tell him.....

:0)

Taylor Creek, FL(Zone 10a)

Well, I never! Addicted me hahaha. I have now taken to telling any stranger in any garden shop about the best garden site on th Web. There is something about a gentle heart that comes with gardners. A connection with this beautiful earth that touches our souls. This is such a delight.

Lincoln, NE(Zone 5b)

That is just so true!

Seward, AK(Zone 3b)

NC, that's a hoot... your poor hubby thinks it will be over! I started trading seeds when I joined DG about 2.5 yrs ago, and my tradelist just keeps growing! I buy more little zip-lock bags than a crack dealer!

I admit I spend waaaay too much time here in the Garden. You can tell by the dust bunnies and unfolded laundry! Not only am I visiting on forums, but I'm also preparing seeds to trade, researching in and for the PDB, and updating my tradelist. This winter, I hope to get started on my journal... ah, the fun never ends!

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 2b)

DG caused me to burn boiled eggs, one day shortly after I joined. Didn't even smell burning till the fire alarm went off. Really sad because the pot was copper revere lined with stainless. A special 1976 set. I ruined the flat bottom by putting cold water in it.
Inanda

Lincoln, NE(Zone 5b)

That IS bad! LOL

Carmel, NY(Zone 6b)

It's so bad it's good!

Inanda - I've been here for about 3 months and I've gone thru 3 sauce pans and a frying pan. Can't even begin to tell you how much burnt food and over-cooked pasta I've eaten. Heck - I don't even answer the phone!

Cape May - you win! You absolutely win! That's exactly how my office (at least the home office) should be set up. I am so loving your imagination!

cape may court house, NJ(Zone 6a)

It seemed fitting at this time... You guys are so funny. Imaginations are wonderful aren't they?
I sent the picture to my niece. She's an office worker. I make sure I send her something whacky to start her day.
This picture I sent. She showed it to her boss, his reply. Your Aunt,
"She aint Right !"
Another for you Sequee

Hey, Sequee - that's one good thing about dial up at home - my phone can't ring! That's the only good thing though!!

Castro Valley, CA(Zone 9a)

At least you don't have to leave your office for personal higiene, LOL LOL, I'm sending that one to my DG at work!!!!! Those darn cats are so smart, arent they, why do they love keyboards and books so much, LOL, Annie

Carmel, NY(Zone 6b)

I'm willing to bet that kitty beat the house! LOL!

Seward, AK(Zone 3b)

Sandy, that's a great photo!

Lenexa, KS(Zone 6a)

Sandy - Too funny!!! I think it's great that cats can see TV's and monitors, most dogs cannot (don't know if that's common knowledge or not) although I've got one that can......we *think* he was deprived of some oxygen at birth. He's not your normal dog - not all there if you know what I mean - but we love him to death.

Oak Grove, MN(Zone 4a)

My Newf Dmitri watches TV regularly. We always watch the dog shows. He even gets excited when he sees other Newfs on the screen! Of three dogs, he's the only one that does this. I sometimes think he may have been dropped on his head as a pup too, funny you should say that. One time we watched ostriches on TV and he was so scared that he avoided the TV for days! And every now and then I catch him watching the fish tank or his own reflection in the window!

Lenexa, KS(Zone 6a)

Patch (my TV watcher) seems to always be watching when we have Animal Planet on. The other 2 dogs only react if they hear a wolf, coyote or other dogs on TV. Then they start barking and looking all around the room for the "dog" they hear. It's pretty funny because Patch is busy watching the TV and then the other 2 dogs then back to the TV and back to the other 2 dogs. It's almost like he's thinking, "What's wrong with you two? They're right there on the TV!" ROFL

Kannapolis, NC(Zone 7b)

HAHAHA! My dog used to go crazy at that song from the 90's "Been Caught Stealin'" - I think that's the name of it - anyway, it starts off with a bunch of dogs barking!!

Willamette Valley, OR(Zone 8a)

Worst thing about DG? I'm late for class because I just had to steal a few minutes to read some posts from some of the funniest people I "know"!! :-)

"Sorry professor, I just couldn't stop reading!!!" (I don't think he'll go for it!)

Carmel, NY(Zone 6b)

I fostered a Pekingese for a (very) brief time and he used to fling his body at the TV in attack mode when he heard a dog barking! It was kind of scary. It never occured to me that he couldn't "see" it - it would explain why the barking aggravated him so badly. Poor baby had to be put down after attacking the President of the Northeast Pekingese Rescue. He messed her up pretty badly (including whiplash and several broken teeth. When he was autopsied they found a very large brain tumor. Broke my heart!

Seward, AK(Zone 3b)

Poor pup. Those little Pekes are fearless little dogs, brain tumor or no brain tumor! Gosh, when you said whiplash and several broken teeth, it reminded me that I need to get off this website and go out for Senior Day groceries or my hubby will come home and say, 'To the moon, Alice!'

Lincoln, NE(Zone 5b)

Poor li'l doggie... I believe (if I remember right) the reason some dogs do watch TV is that they do see the movement and lighting change. Then when 'it' starts barking that must really make them nuts!

Seattle, WA(Zone 8b)

My basset only reacts to door bell rings off the TV...drives her batty :-)

Carmel, NY(Zone 6b)

Lucky you - PekeBoo has this inner instinct thing - he can be in a deep sleep behind the toilet (don't ask) and if a certain dog in the neighborhood walks by outside - he's off! I had no idea. 40 years as a cat person - I just thought dogs were like cats, ya know - cats that bark! HA! Needy little love bugs.

RB - I think bassets are the cutest - are they really as sweet as they seem?

Seattle, WA(Zone 8b)

Sequee, my Beverly is the sweetest thing in the world. Mouthy, willful, and spoiled rotten.........................

Lincoln, NE(Zone 5b)

With that sweet little face?? nah...

Seattle, WA(Zone 8b)

See, she's got you fooled. LOL

Moab, UT(Zone 6b)

I know that look: that's the 'didn't do' look, with the added ear flop to encourage a little pet - jus a little one.

Norwood, MO(Zone 6a)

RB.... and I bet she has 'daddy' wrapped around her little paw as well... what a sweetie...

I have a dog that watches tv... Emma is a great dane and likes to watch animal planet and a few other shows. She does not like 'animal cops' though and will leave the room when they come on.

Oostburg, WI(Zone 5b)

Good grief! - now we have to argue with the dogs on what show to watch too? It was bad enough when DH or DS has the remote! What is the world coming to? ROFLOL I think I'll stick to DG and let them argue over the TV!!!!!!!!

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 2b)

For obedience dog lovers.

http://www.tusafe.com/nonags/funimg/Avoir-du-Gutz.jpg

At our recent dog show there was a swallows nest in the roof of the building right above the obedience ring. There is a 15 minute 'down' during obedience. The swallows were flying around all day and one even came down and hit a dog. He didn't move. Heads & eyes were certainly moving though.

Ginny who bought a ton of on sale daff. bulbs this am. Now to hope glue dries up enough to plant them.

McKinney, TX(Zone 8a)

WHat a cutie Rikerbear. I have always loved bassetts because we had a bassett hound when I was in elementary - Prissy. She got stolen out of backyard one day while we were at school and my mom was at work. :( Your Ms. Beverly looks like a sweetheart.

Kannapolis, NC(Zone 7b)

GRRRR Sweezel! That's makes me mad!!!! We have locks on our fences b/c of my fear of that! Course when I was a kid it would have NEVER occurred to me!!

Yes Rikerbear, she is a sweetie! One of my old friends had a Basset and the neighborhood kids loved to come over to her house and he would 'track' them running around and around her house barking! It was a HOOT!

McKinney, TX(Zone 8a)

Yep, I was a sad little 3rd grader at the time, but I still have a picture of her around somewhere. :) We never would have thought something like that would have happened. She only stayed out there while no one was home, but someone found her and wanted her I guess. We lived in a nice working class neighborhood, and my mom never would have thought of putting a lock on the gate.

Seattle, WA(Zone 8b)

Oh I can't imagine anyone stealing someones doggy....how aweful! I would be beyond devastated if that ever happened to Bev. We do keep locks on the gates, as we have kids in the neighborhood who love to come visit her....and I am afraid they will someday forget to latch it properly and she will wonder off. Bassets are notorious for 'getting lost'....they start tracking a scent, and before they know it they've wondered away and are now lost.
Anyway back to gardening.....sorry to have altered the subject here. :-)

Norwood, MO(Zone 6a)

Kooger, I don't watch tv anyway... so I just let Emma have it. The dh can argue with her... he likes discovery channel and rfdtv ... lol... During the day I am mostly outside, except for breaks and once in awhile housework... mostly I do inside things at night. and that is when I go online. lol... I think there is seldom anything on tv that is better than being online. especially since I found DG's.. :))

Lenexa, KS(Zone 6a)

Starr - ain't that the truth!!! TV just doesn't compare to DG!

Carmel, NY(Zone 6b)

I get dizzy trying to keep up with both.

This is General Discussion, RB, so you're allowed to take it wherever it goes!

Moab, UT(Zone 6b)

Marc, I never understood why a dog can't just follow his own scent back the way he came?

Sequee, I watch both and frequently lose track of what's happening on my tv shows. I watch all the day time reruns of my favorite night time shows.... that I seem to have missed on first run thru. LOL Dave's is just more interesting.

Seward, AK(Zone 3b)

Sometimes I get the split screen thing going and I'm working two threads at once. I've posted to the wrong one sometimes and it makes me feel pretty stupid!
