Paul - you got me chuckling over #4 - looks like the opening to those blasted critters - TinkyWinky, Lala, Po and I forget the last one. LOL
Welcome to the new Dave's Garden, version 2.0 :)
Paul, I actually like #4 for the rise and fall of the land and the clouds that don't look so stylized. Don't like any of the logos.
BUT... isn't it fun to play around with suggestions??
Paul, those are pretty cool. The banner pictures are really nice. The trouble with them is that there is no middle part that can be repeated in order to make the whole thing stretch to 100% of the browser width. Ideas?
dave
For a guy and his geeky brother, you guys are pretty good :) It's amazing to watch all the ideas whizzing about!
I was thinking they actually look very good - no geekiness detected here!
#1 and #3 were out of focus for me... was that intentional?
Well, with the grass one, it will repeat seamlessly, and we can make the “For gardeners...By gardeners” have a transparent background, so it can move along the image and look fine. Dan (my geeky brother) thinks that we can make the other ones repeat too. So if you like one, we can make it work. And Terry, “Geek” is a title that my brother wears with pride, Dave will understand. :)
-Paul-
darius, your monitor isn't messing up -- it is intentional.
-Paul-
Paul, I used to manage a very large IT training service so I fully appreciate that geek is sometimes a badge of honor ;o) I thought if you were being apologetic, you most certainly shouldn't - the work is very professional-looking.
LOL, Paul, I thought it was my glasses!
I think they look wonderful.....this are be a good step forward for a work in progress.
#4 looks good
Get that brother of yours going and show us more. :-)
Actually, one calling himself a geek is not a self-inflicted insult, but a self boast! :-) (And, I'm a geek saying that, which I just committed the same crime I mentioned in this same post). hehehe.
enough silliness.
What would be neat is a stable logo, but a changing background, that changes with the seasons. I like the blurred backgrounds, and having four of them representing each season would be cool.
But the thing is: the banner must be made into three parts: left, middle, and right. The left and right are unchangable, and the middle must stretch in either direction and look good when it bumps up against the left and right image. That's still the problem with these pictures.
dave
Dave, WHOSE changing seasons? USA, Chile, India...??
the blurred ones hurt my eyes =(
Logo1 has some potential though IMO.
I like the font, gradient fills & with the text to the left, seems weighted better or ???
just my 2 pesos =)
Oreogonics, they hurt my eyes too.
Paul, How about doing logo#1 with Dave's font from the old page? I think I like the few and various colored leaves, though.
The old font is folkard. http://davesgarden.com/~dave/folkard.zip
dave
Dave, the idea that we have is that the image would be the cell background, and would repeat so that it can be infinitely long. The logo would be always all the way to the left, and the “For gardeners...By gardeners” can be kept always to the right. That way, it doesn't need to be made in three sections, because, although the image would be cut off, the content (logo, text or any thing else) can either slide along the image when the resolution changes (because it has a transparent background), or be stuck to the left where it doesn't matter.
darius, we can change the font pretty easily to whatever is the best liked.
-Paul-
loading slow
Thanks, Dave.
Does anyone remember a photo - trying to find - landscape scene that gw or Howie took - they were going to go back and do the same photo in all the seasons and link it as a seamless piece; believe there was a sycamore tree in it. Could something like that work; representing all the seasons all at once since many here geographically are in different seasonal zones?
Kimberly - yooooohooooo
Pauk, show us one with Dave's old font and the flower petals from #1 logo?
darius, we'll work on that.
Dave, here is a link to an example to show that it can be stretched to whatever resolution: http://uberbooks.com/dg/stretch/
We think we can do the same thing with the photo ones.
-Paul-
Paul, nice touch emphasizing DG - really nice. Can't wait to see some repetitive photo stuff that way :)
That look great!
I'm on cable, so I can't tell . . . does it take much longer to load?
Cheri'
It probably takes some longer but I'm on cable too, so I don't know for sure.
-Paul-
someone on dial up will let us know
=)
Cheri'
Ok, the logo #1 with the other font is here: http://uberbooks.com/dg/
Here is a nice little thing to write- how about a Random Fun Image title bar that senses the prevelant color in the image and automatically changes the logo to complimentary colors. Then the title bar can be all of the contributors on DG!
Just a little program, right?
Okay- I am running away so FAST right now......zooom.
Paul, I LIKE it, much better. (Logo1, Take 2) Thanks.
very nice
=)
Cheri'
We just added header #5. See what you think, everyone.
-Paul-
NOT ! lol - can you imagine it expanded across the entire width ;)
Thats the one!!!!!!!!!
LOL
LOL
rofl!!!!
Cheri'
Hilarious!!
LOL, I LOVE it!!!
We just got another REAL logo idea uploaded. It's reminiscent of the old one. http://uberbooks.com/dg/

Wow! Can you throw that onto header #4 and see what it looks like? You're doing this stuff in a jiffie :)
Logo 4 is very very nice!
I like Logo #4... is it too busy for you, Trish... in terms of tee shirts, embroidery, mugs etc?
BUT, I think putting it on Header #4 would really amuse all of us but maybe scare potential new members away, LOL.
I agree with Happenstance on Logo 4.
