Plumie in Saskatchewan

Moose Jaw, SK(Zone 3b)

What is the Stokes tropical feeding schedule Don?

Bushland, TX(Zone 6a)

Well I think you can get it from there web site,I think its mainly the type of fertilizer and how often you feed them,I use the bloom plus fertlizer and feed once a week.
Plumerias are heavy feeders and drinkers during the hot windy summers, like were having now in May,90* heat and winds gusting above 35 mph all day long here

Seattle, WA(Zone 8b)

Plumeria Fertilization
To support their beautiful flowers, Plumeria are heavy feeders. However, in order to discourage excessive stem elongation and to promote flowering, use fertilizers low in nitrogen and high in phosphorous."Super Bloom" or "BR-61" are excellent choices.
Keep a plumeria healthy by feeding it every other week.

***********************
# FEEDING -- A consistent feeding program will produce vigorous plants with large ostentatious clusters of flowers from May through November. Plumeria require fertilizer high in phosphorus (the middle number). Super Bloom is an excellent choice. To keep the plant compact, avoid fertilizers high in nitrogen. Feed the plant every other week, but discontinue feeding in September to allow new growth to harden prior to winter storage.

Feeding
Plumerias should be fed with a high nitrogen fertilizer beginning in spring when growth begins.
To encourage the most blooms a switch to a high phosphorous fertilizer in early May and fertilize every 2 to 3 weeks through the end of August.

Seattle, WA(Zone 8b)

So....how are your sticks doing????
Mine have become AWESOME!! hehehehehe
I will try and get some pix on here later this weekend....way to busy till than.
I have several 'sticks' with big gorgeous leaves on them and one that appears to be sending up a bloom stem before even setting leaves (I'm just fine with that.... LOL)
can't wait for an update on yours

Archer/Bronson, FL(Zone 8b)

Funny today of all days you should bring this up, I just got 10 sticks in from Hawaii just now, just today, just this afternoon. LOL

I just now finished potting them up along with some other plants I got in from Idaho.

I have some Apricot, Rainbow, Hot pink and Red.

I gave away my yellow plumie to a DG girlfriend, it already had a "Y", I have one left that I got from Ebay with lots of green, no flowers yet. 45 to 75 days from now, we'll see how the new "sticks" are doing.

:^))))

Pam,

Mine didn't quite look like that before the leaves and blooms came, but you got a whole lot of stuff just waiting to bust out I think. Be patient, just a little longer now.

I will send pics as soon as I see some new activities on the Hawaiian plants.

rikerbear I'm amazed by how much the leaves have grown on yours!! How warm are your days and nights now? I really want to keep track of how long it takes yours to bloom.

Your seedlings are lookin' good! :D

Seattle, WA(Zone 8b)

We are seasonably high right now....normally we are in the mid 70's from mid May through July and into. August is when if we're going to we get in the 80's and 90's (never broken 100....since temps have been logged, some 75 yrs)
We have been in the high 70's to mid 80's for several weeks now. Today is our 6th day in a row above 85. To us, this is a scorcher. Our night temps are staying in the low 70s. And to top it off we have had almost NO rain since early April.....tiny bits of rain, but nothing like we should be having.

The leaves on the two bestest ones I have grew out from nubs, to two inch leaves in about two weeks. I moved them out under the lilac bushes and they just took off. I am beyond excited!!
The plumie on my front deck with the bloom spike forming is just killing me. I hope hope hope it's a rainbow, or pink one. Although I'll be just as happy with a white or yellow.
I just want to smell that smell.....ahhhhhh.

So how are yours doing?

RikerBear
Marc

P.S. Here is my current favorite view of the back yard......
No plumies in it, but I like it none the less.

:D...I love it! Looks like a *bit* of country goin' on there!

Thank you for posting your temps...I really, really hope we will be reaching them soooooooooooon!! The last two years we had your temps in early May (unusual but not unheard of) but this year the arctic seems so much closer. :( We are prob. getting your rain tho'...10 inches here is unheard of but get it we did! On the plus side my perennial garden could hold it's head high in British Columbia. Tomatoes are just sitting tho'.

My Plumie is doing well...I bring it in every night!! But a nasty, nasty worm was discovered on it and it had the unbelievable nerve to eat some holes in my baby's leaves....it (the worm) died a very quick and colorful language type death! :( So far one leaf has opened and the inflo is continuing to grow slooooooowly.

Panhandle, FL(Zone 8a)

Lily, all God's creatures have to eat!

Moose Jaw, SK(Zone 3b)

That they do but not on my Precioussssssss!!!!!!!!! ...that Golum is getting stronger in me! ;)

Moose Jaw, SK(Zone 3b)

Plus who would have thunk a poor defenseless Plumie would have had a predator here?!?!?

Panhandle, FL(Zone 8a)

My, my, the girl has a mighty strong protective streak!

Moose Jaw, SK(Zone 3b)

You bet ... they just don't grow on trees here! ;)

Valrico, FL(Zone 9b)

Pam,

I regret to inform you that your plumie does not look well. Not well at all.

I think 3-5 years in Florida sunshine will cure it of its ills.

You have the address.

;-)

Valrico, FL(Zone 9b)

It also appears to miss Lord Stanley's Cup, and wishes to be reunited with it.

Panhandle, FL(Zone 8a)

Is there a pox being placed on theis plummie?

Moose Jaw, SK(Zone 3b)

LOLOLOLOLOL....still sputtering with tears running down my face!!

Moose Jaw, SK(Zone 3b)

I appreciate my plumie...love it to death!! Poor Lord Stanley's cup is gonna rust in all that heat and humidity...send it HOME!!

Panhandle, FL(Zone 8a)

Oh my God BT, I think she has plumitis! Causes extreme tears and fear of everyting.

Moose Jaw, SK(Zone 3b)

I'm obsessed enough as it is.....I'll be bringing it in when it's 30C here at night!!

Seattle, WA(Zone 8b)

Oh yeah, a *bit* of country indeed. LOL For years my partner and I tried to deny our roots....but somehow it just kept creeping in. About 5 yrs ago we gave up and decided to just go with it. I however draw the line at sink and tolet planters. :-) Not that there's anything wrong with them, juts not in my yard. It's bad enough I was forced into getting the windmill.

Girl you protect those plumie babies! Let the %@#$ worms find their meal elsewhere.
Oh and let dear Lord Stanley get a new cup, this one's ours.
hehehehehehehehe

Panhandle, FL(Zone 8a)

LOLOLOL, BT, did you hear that????

Moose Jaw, SK(Zone 3b)

Not fair...now I'm feeling a wee bit outnumbered...Eyes will be sitting here with my Plumie craddled in my lap and telling it how awful dem Amerikans are!! It's much, much better off here!!

Moose Jaw, SK(Zone 3b)

I don't know rikerbear...I think they would add just the right touch to your yard!! :D

Seattle, WA(Zone 8b)

And here I sit humming South Park's "Blame Canada" LOL
I'm sorry Lilypon, I promise I'll stop picking on you. :-)

Marc

Valrico, FL(Zone 9b)

I heard it and heard it well.

You have to remember what Seattle does to people, though. It's the Pacifici NW, but has a climate similar to Charleston, SC. They get confused. If they travel anywhere outside of the protection of their mountains, they're tossed into the frozen tundra of the rest of the area. If they stay where they are, that 1st glow of sun in late sping or early summer, will blind them.
