Regular Gas at Chevron in CA ....2.19 per gallon

Gordonville, TX(Zone 7b)

$2.23 in Whitesboro, TX. I feel a lifestyle change coming. One I don't want to make and am not prepared for! Grrrrrr.

New Iberia, LA(Zone 9a)

here's $2.19 at Conoco gas station!!!!!!! It takes fill my car gas tank for $20.00.

Newark, OH(Zone 5a)

I seen it at 2.29 here when I went to lunch. Ouch

Woodsville, NH(Zone 4a)

It was 2.19 here on Monday. Tuesday it jumped to 2.29 and the guy at the pump said it's going to continue to go up!!!!

Mesilla Park, NM

Today they had the radio station announcing the cheapest gas stations around.. People were calling in as they drove by each station.. what fun.. It doesn't seem to be going down that is for sure.

Newark, OH(Zone 5b)

http://www.gaspricewatch.com/usgas_index.asp is an interesting site.

Moose Jaw, SK(Zone 3b)

$3.00 American ($3.78 Canadian) here right now. :b Trust me our wages are not keeping up with it!

So.App.Mtns., United States(Zone 5b)

Here's an interesting link taken from the site GW posted above. Save 5% on gas purchases. At $2.30/gal that's a savings of 11.5 cents a gallon!

http://www.cheatatshopping.com/Splashgoogle/gas.html

Crossville, TN

I have a CITI Credit Card that gives me 5% back on all purchases of gas (including my propane at home), groceries and pharmacy....so I charge everything and pay it off when the bill comes...no interrest and I get 5% back. Jo

Keaau, HI(Zone 11)

Almost $2.50 a gallon here. Ouch!!!

Brings one to the question: do I really need to go?

Carol

Gordonville, TX(Zone 7b)

$2.14 at Wally World (with the 3 cents off) in Sherman, TX. Texas and Wyoming seem to have cheaper gas. Wussup with that?

SW, WI(Zone 4b)

A lot of it is probably the fact that your state's gas tax is lower.

I'm trying to figger this out.....
CA and HI almost *always* have higher gas prices than anyone else, right?

Right now, Wisconsin has the highest gas tax in the nation....so if some of you are paying more than us ($2.31 right now)....who's getting the extra $$ from your price per gallon, if your state's gas tax is lower than ours? (Especially CA and HI?) And why??
Hmm....

Gordonville, TX(Zone 7b)

Prices........, nevermind! LOL

Toadsuck, TX(Zone 7a)

Too danged high for fixed incomes!! Gonna make shipping prices a nightmare....USPS, UPS, and FEDEX all getting Rate increases!!!!

"eyes"

Gordonville, TX(Zone 7b)

That impact is next. Scares me, eyes.

John

Woonsocket, RI(Zone 6b)

It's $2.13 at Wally World (with the 3 cents off) in Wonsocket, RI. Cheare than Massachusetts.

Lilesville, NC(Zone 7b)

Gas here in NC @ the BP station was $2.26 a gallon...kinda puts a damper on the crusing around the neighborhood to see how the flowers are blooming :(

Crossville, TN

It was $2.13 here the last time I filled up...about 10 days ago...yesterday I filled up at $2.26....guess the roadrunner is grounded until the gas prices come down. Jo

Northeast, WA(Zone 5a)

$2.39 in Washington. So, what to do about it???? Jeanette

So.App.Mtns., United States(Zone 5b)

The ideal thing would be to buy a hybrid vehicle... but if we've spent all our money on gasoline, who could afford a new vehicle?

Gordonville, TX(Zone 7b)

That Jnette, for me, is the question

Parrish, FL(Zone 9a)

I got gas for $2.18 in Pinellas Park down here in FL. Cheapest I could find when I was up that way on Friday. I saw gas as high as $2.38 here and that was this ***** little store in Parrish :) Who would buy gas there for that much when 2 miles down the road its $2.28....

Mesilla Park, NM

I bet sitting at the drive-thru windows is also costing a bit more now. Went to pick up prescriptions at the drive-thru at Walgreens and they took soooo long, I had to turn off my car. That's probably going to make alot of people go into the fast food restaurants instead of waiting around. In this heat though, you have to have the air on at the drive-thru while you wait, especially when you have children, older parents and pets in the vehicle.

Olympia, WA(Zone 7b)

Here it's $2.59 a gallon. I also looked up Washington State's gas tax, which is 28 cents a gallon, with increases being proposed, of course! I recently left work to go back to school, and it's SO nice not to need gas every week. Now my Civic gets 37 mpg, but my next vehicle will definitely be a hybrid (for pollution reasons, too, as it bothers my asthma), and my husband has started riding the bus to work. The bus is free for him since he's a government employee, and he doesn't have to pay for parking. Everyone wins that way. I can't imagine how high it will go this summer as demand increases!

Gordonville, TX(Zone 7b)

It surprises me how well the public is taking the rise in prices. Do we actually realize how fortunate we have been all these years compared to the rest of the world?

Northern California, CA

$2.79.....yikes!

Taylor Creek, FL(Zone 10a)

Of all the things in the world that jerks us around, fuel is the worst. I have been contributing to energy production for the last 30 years, building and repairing boilers and co-gens, repairing refineries, laying pipelines and even worked on the worlds largest wind generator.
I can't buy a job right now. They quit building refineries and they just shut them down instead of repairing them. I guess I need a compact, or Beetle again.
Gas is generally ten cents cheaper in Ga. I hope that's true next friday for the Ga RU.

Ottawa, ON(Zone 5a)

I'm with you, John. It's still cheaper than the same amount of water, or milk. What's up with that? :-)

Gordonville, TX(Zone 7b)

The whole thang is very strange. A President lost his job in the late 70s, cuz of rising energy costs. Costs continued to rise for the next Pres. but his popularity went up. Wars have been fought over the stuff. Nobody seems to care this time.

Scotia, CA(Zone 9b)

As of this morning it was 2.65 a gal. for no name unleaded here. We consistantly have the highest prices in the nation and they wonder why tourism is faultering! That is DOWN from 2.78 last week. The name brands like Chevron and Shell are still up at 2.70-2.75. In a rural area like ours this is especially hard since unemployment is skyrocketing and there is no public transportation for most areas and limited transportation in the cities.

Decatur, GA(Zone 7a)

Sugarweed, I forget the name of the station, but one of them at the Jekyll Island exit (right off I-95 - I think exit 29) has the lowest price we saw anywhere. It was at least 10 cents lower than other stations in Georgia.

You know, the thing that just infuriates me is that the oil companies' profits have never been higher! To me, that's just price gouging.

Scotia, CA(Zone 9b)

Yes, it is amazing that they blame it all on the price of imported oil but their profit margins keep growing!

Oakland, OR(Zone 8a)

The last time we had this sort of problem - in the 70's - the President and Congress got unhappy with the huge profits the oil companies were making so added an Excess Profits tax on their profits over a certain level. It would be nice to hear of it happening again. Dotti

Careful... if this thread becomes a political discussion, Dave will pull it.

Mesilla Park, NM

2.62 for regular at Chevron this week. 36.36 and I did not fill up, only got 3/4 of the tank.

2.72 premium

2.82 super unleaded

it will probably get to 3.00 by mid-summer or end of summer, for the super unleaded anyway..

I decided to buy my daughter and Granddaughter airline tickets to come and visit instead of driving to pick them up. Save's me two days drive, a whole lot of gas, and hotel...and driving back, then taking them back... 4 trips total.. it sure is worth the airline tickets.

Gordonville, TX(Zone 7b)

You right darius. Fine line between history and politics/current events but, worthy of thought (of no particular bent of course).

Shalimar, FL(Zone 8a)

Gourd, your 2.62 makes our 2.21 (reg, Racetrac) look cheap in NW FL!

Gordonville, TX(Zone 7b)

Yeah, we are paying $2.06 at Walmart.

So.App.Mtns., United States(Zone 5b)

I don't even want to think about how gas prices may escalate just this year, never mind the future.

Ottawa, ON(Zone 5a)

Just curious, how everyone is changing their routine or purchasing decisions (if at all) as a result of this.... for my part, DSO and I have strengthened our resolve to not buy a large vehicle ;-), and for me personally, I never let the car idle more than 10 seconds now - always turn it off. Any other ideas out there?

Shannon
