Are you ready Ohio????
Well kids, I hate to disappoint, but there is no way I will be there if the weather will be that bad. I'd be a fool to take a newborn out into that kind of weather. Heck, the way viruses and cold are going around, it would probably be stupid to take her anywhere right now. If the weather changes, we might try to make it, but being that she was born with little time to spare and with the drop in temps, I'll probably miss this one too. :(
I think you are a good mom to refuse to take that little rosebud out into freezing temperatures. On the other hand, this is Ohio so who knows what the forecast will be by the end of the week. LOL
Would love to meet you and the family but I will sure understand if you can't make it.
This is true...Well, maybe we can just caravan in the van down there one weekend and pay you guys a visit. We can seat five in addition to us. :)
'Chele, today they are saying Friday ought to start out in the mid 40's, and be in the 60's. I will understand if you don't want to bring your new Rose, but I will miss you!!!!!
My 'puter is "sick" (my brother's description) so anyone who needs driving info to get to my house, please call me. My name/address/phone are listed here in the member site, or you can ask Esther, Rosiesplace, Windsurffer, or Gardenwife how to get here if you need help.
Morph, you still coming, I hope! And you are perfectly welcome to stay Thursday night, you know.
Candy, anything you bring (or just yourself) will be welcome. I would love to have any of your hellebore seedlings (greedy, ain't I?) and/or primroses. I have tons of extra plants, too; I have been doing a little every few days to divide mine. No way to list everything that I have to share, but they are free for the asking when y'all get here.
Well, Candy (NoH20) and I have been e-mailing and neither one of us is an early bird. I'll post here when I know what time we'll arrive at the greenhouse.
Kathy, is lunch definitely at noon or 1pm? Mom and dad plan to just go to lunch and meet everyone since they don't need any plants.
Well it looks like the weather is going to be lovely. But, we have another snafu. Hubby has an important interview tomorrow. It was actually scheduled for last Friday but he had to move it since my body was having prelabor. LOL I guess I am going to miss you guys this time and have to catch it next year. Anybody want my shopping list?? ;)
Badseed, if you find someone to do your shopping for you, look at my list of freebies and let me know if you want any of those. So sorry we won't get to meet this time but there will be other chances I am sure. :^(
Candy, I just got your machine when I called, so you may be out. How about I get you at 9am? Is that okay?
Dave - haven't heard from you in a while here. Are you still coming to the sale?
Who all's going to go to Kathy's? And when?
Okay, I spoke with Candy and it's settled that I'll pick her up at 9am. Can't wait to see y'all tomorrow!
Didn't make it out this evening as I had hoped. I am trying to get in gear to get there tomorrow morning when I can. Lupy, I may be calling for directions as I don't recall how to get to your place. I'm not really a morning person either so this is going to be a BIG challenge!
Piece of cake, Morph -- Check your e-mail. I'm sending you my direction file! You'll be coming in on I-70, right?
I am bringing plants and two types of brownies for dessert. Won't they taste good with hot coffee and green conversation?! Looking forward to meeting all of you Ohio DG folk.
What should I bring? I'll need to stop by a store in the morning. Goofy me, forgot to stop today while I was out. I ended up picking Howie up from work for his lunch hour and forgot all about the store.
There's salad, brownies and lasagna. What else would be good? Fruit, maybe?
Good Morning Everyone!
Chele, Congratulations! Sorry I won't be able to meet you, but there is always the "Wave Sale" and the "Geranium Sale".
Kim, Yes, I will be there; nametags and envelope in hand (until I hang it on the fence! LOL) Can't wait to meet you.
Kathy, Depending on what time we get out of there, I may or may not be able to make it to lunch. I have to be at work for 3:00 pm.
See you all there!
Dave
I will be back at my house around 10:30 (depending on the line at the check-out). I plan to serve lunch around 1, but Dave, I hope you will at least come and meet with the gang before you have to go to work, even if you won't have time to eat. (Brownies don't tempt you? How about Esther's rhubarb cake? Not sure she is bringing it, but it is worth a several hour drive to sample it!)
'Chele, I am so sorry you won't be able to come today. If you can phone or e-mail your list to someone we will make sure to get it to you somehow. Next weekend is the Wave Petunia sale, and the following weekend is the geranium sale. Anyone going to go to those? I am not a petunia person, but I will probably wander over for the geraniums (3/$1)
Morph, I hope you are still planning to come! I had such a great time with y'all in KY and last spring here, I can't wait for later this morning!!!!!!!!
What am I doing up this early? Somebody help me.......
Like CHristmas! Candy, I woke up at 7:45am -- Aaaargh! Hit OFF instead of SNOOZE! I will call you on my way just in case you don't see this. And I found out SR40 (my most direct route) IS closed, so I have to go an alternate way. Aaaargh!
Willnotstress...willnotstress....whillnotstress
I'm putting on my shoes!
I can't wait to hear all about your outing and lunch! I still have tomorrow to do the Easter Bunny thing at Bunnyland! If I never pick up another kid to put them on my lap, it will be too soon!!!!!! But it's been fun. I'll post pics soon. Miss you guys!
Yes do tell! What wonderful plants, fun and food did we miss out on?? Hubby's interview went very well, but they won't be making a decision for a couple of weeks which we knew going in, but it will be agony waiting to hear something. I got to take care of my own bunny stuff as well. LOL
We had the BEST time today! We all wished you guys had been able to make it. I'm tired, but hope to post some pictures if I get done doing final stuff with a friend's wedding invitations.
I just got home about 10:00pm or so. I took the scenic route back to Newark (NO, I didn't get lost *again*) and took a few pictures on back roads and at Buckeye Lake before doing some grocery shopping and finally heading home.
Has anyone heard from Morph? She didn't show up and we didn't hear from her. I'm kinda worried if she's okay!
Nevermind -- just saw I had an e-mail from Morph. She was really sore after battling winds on behalf of her greenhouse. Whew!
I had a GREAT TIME today! It was so nice to meet all of you who did come.
GW, you think you are tired! I just walked in the door from work! It's okay though -- I made $130.00 in tips alone -- the WAVE sale is coming! ;)
Morph, hopefully we can meet sometime soon!
Chele, hope it all works out for the good with your Hubby and the interview!
Celia, I definitely want to see some pictures!
Anyway, I'm beat -- I'm off to bed, talk to everyone soon!
Dave
I was pooped as well and it was so nice to meet you Bob, I also enjoyed seeing some old friends as well.
Morph I am so sorry that you couldn't make it this time but maybe we'll get a chance to see you before the summers over.
Congrats Badseed I heard that you had another little girl, you remind me of my best friend who had seven girls.
Wish I could have attended the sale but it's just a long way to go instead I worked on my new hoop tunnel for growing tomatoes 14x46 feet. I did this in sweltering heat can you believe 76 and supposed to be that way tomorrow to.
No big sales around here ever. These green house operators operate on the GTM system.
Candy there is little help for insomnia wheather its A.M or P.M when I get up on the week ends at 4:30 5 oclock I drink coco or coffee and sit in my chair and watch the darkness and usually go to sleep and wake up with a stiff neck lol. Ernie

But Kit, why did she stop at seven?? LOL I had sworn to be done now, with my nice even number and all girls. Then we watched Cheaper by the Dozen....... Now the girls have other ideas. ;) Where can I get that country home???
Been there with the stiff neck, Ernie!
Hey, heading downstairs for Easter lunch with my MIL and kin. Hope to be back on and post more pictures tonight - right now there are just flower pictures in the photo forum thread (they didn't need any editing!).
GW where did you post them? I hope you post the one of me for Rootdoctor I think he'll get a kick out of it.
Thank you all for coming!!!! We had such a good time, I wish Morph and Badseed and Celia and Mystic had been able to come too.
Anyone (besides Dave) going to the Wave Petunia sale this weekend? I would love to have people over again on Sunday, if anyone is interested?
The following weekend is the Geranium Sale. I am going to go to that one (I think). I am open for suggestions if anyone wants to come back.
Awww, shucks, Celia, you're right there in the middle, right?
Sorry that I couldn't make it last week. My Big Lots greenhouse took a second beating in our wind tunnel. The day before I had spent the day tying it down and the following day the winds decided to bend the darn metal every which way :(
When I woke up on Friday I was as sore as can be and then by night, I realized I had pulled some sort of muscle in the lower back/bum area ~ arrghhhh! It's been bothering me all week and I really don't like to sit still for very long!
I should have called y'all & I'm sorry I didn't. My apologies...
Can't wait to see the pictures though :)
We missed ya! I was hoping for a fire so I could say "rabbits" with you (or was it singular? LOL). Hope your back and, ummm, bumm feel better soon - that's no fun 'tall. Look over here for pictures, Morph: http://davesgarden.com/t/425325/
Gosh Morph! I am sorry to hear you are having such problems with that greenhouse! I have mine in the driveway, part way behind a cedar tree and it has given me no problems at all. Did you end up keeping yours on the deck? Hubby encouraged me to do that but I was afraid of the wind and the air through the boards. It sure would have been convenient though! LOL
LOL, Kim :)
Seed, yes, I kept in on the deck and the wind was just too much for it. I pondered that before deciding to put it there. After the first blow over, I put it back together and tied it down. But, like I said, the wind was so strong in that place that it just bent the metal into a contortion on the second go around :(
Ack! Is it destroyed or can you move it down onto solid ground? When we had the really strong winds a few weeks ago, I did notice the center would scoot a bit but that was it. My only complaint is how the rain sits on top but that would be easily enough fixed. Did any of your straight sections bend or is just the ends? The ends are not that hard to manipulate (found out because a few of mine were not straight LOL). Maybe if it is not a loss, you could put it back by the treehouse? I have moved all my seedlings out to mine and am hoping to dissasemble it by May at the latest.
New to Daves Garden, but it is quite obvious almost all the Ohio Gardeners are hinding in this thread....lol.....Missed another sale. Darn! Well there is always Andersons. Hope to meet some of you guys to share Ohio gardening tricks and secrets. Always great to find people who share your intrests.
Very nice to meet you! Welcome to DG! Any chance you have a shorter name you'd like to be called? LOL You can call me Chele, Michele, seed, the seed, BS, whatever. I'll answer to about anything. :) Don't feel too bad, I missed the sales too. Sigh. Maybe next year!
Nice to meet you CWBYNCMH -- are you in the Berwick area that I am thinking of, near Winchester Pike and Refugee (SR104)? It's so nice to see someone else from OH join DG. I'm sure you will like it here, oops, I should have said LOVE IT HERE! Everyone is so friendly and very helpful with anything you may need, be it gardening tips or any other information. Don't feel bad about missing the sale -- we folks tend to get together many times a year.
Hey, Cowboy! Good to see you found our thread here. I think a trip to Franklin Park Convervatory would be fun, and I know Zilchwater expressed interest. How long are the butterflies there, anyone remember?
Here is the link to activities at the Conservatory:

Besides their beautiful garden, there is the plant sale and the Chihuly art exhibit that has been held over through July 4. It is just beautiful!
