Hi Badseed, I am hoping you can make it. Bob and I would love to meet you and your brood and your DH too.
Are you ready Ohio????
Well, looks like I'll have to pass on this one, again! I've been looking for a part-time job and found a temporary one. The dates I'm working are the 7th thru the 10th. You'll never guess doing what!!! The Easter Bunny at Malley's Chocolate Factory. They have a big hoopla just before Easter. So..... while I'm stewing in the bunny costume, you guys pick out some great perennials! I'm sure we'll catch up with each other some time!
Oh, poo, Celia! We'll miss you. Well, you'll be a good bunny - you have such a bouncy personality. Be sure to shake your cotton tail. ;) Gosh, it'd be fun to have a picture taken with you at the hoopla.
Dave, I am just now getting through this weekend's e-mail because I was away from the computer most of the weekend. I can contact deMonye's, sure.
Thanks Kim! I'll take some pictures and maybe you can superimpose! LOL
Maybe Celia bunny can smuggle out chocolate to trade for perennials! LOL Don't feel too bad, while you will be a bunny, I'm still bigger than you and just as stuffed! :) I am still pregnant so don't know if I will be going or not. It depends on when I have her and what the weather looks like.
Celia, I'm sorry you won't be there :( Malleys sounds great but the bunny suit & so many kids sounds hot & tiring. Hope they pay you well and give you lots of certificates!!!! Think about Prizer Point in September for the RU maybe?
Lou at deMonye's said we're welcome to hang an envelope on the fence the day we all come out there. She said it would probably be most visible if hung on the fence to the left of the gate where people enter. We could put the tags in a water-repellent envelope (like Priority Mail) if the weather's dicey.
She said to be sure our internet group knows about a hypertufa workshop they're having on Sunday, April 4, from 1-4pm. The $45 registration fee includes lunch and all materials/supplies. Each student will be able to take his or her own 16" bowl home with them that day. She said the postcard mentioned it, but he didn't provide near enough information!

Thanks Kim! That helped big time. I work during the days, and have no way of calling during the hours that the managers are there. I can make a distribution envelope; are you going to work on the tags, or should I? Just let me know what you would like me to do.
Chele, I hope you can make it! But, if you can't, please keep us informed.
Celia, sorry to hear that you won't be there! We'll save some plants for you though. Keep hopping down that bunny trail, and make a lot of little kids happy!
Dave
Thanx you guys! I really thought I could make it this time since I wasn't working. But I GOTTA make some money to pay for all my co-ops!!!!! LOL!!
I do get to eat chocolate for free while I'm there. Just my luck, I'm on a diet!!!!!
Oh well, I know you will have a super time! I'll be thinking about you while I'm sweating my tail off!! I've been wishing for warmer weather, but now.........I hope it's cool up here that weekend!
Oh, Celia, I am so sorry you can't make it :( Let us know if there are any that we can snatch for you, if you can come another weekend?
Gang, looking good for everyone to come to my house after the plant raid. I will make a big pan of lasagna and another of moussaka (for those who can't eat tomatoes) along with some homemade garlic breadsticks. Sound tempting?
Dad came through his first surgery today great; his next one is this Friday morning, and it also ought to be a piece of cake. No nursing needed. All I gotta do is make him get up at 6 am on Friday.
So, an open invitation to come for fun, food, and lots of good chatter after the sale. What day? Friday? Saturday? Has anyone decided?
Oh boo hoo!!!!
Friday's the day, I'm pretty sure. That's the only day Dave can make it. And we've got to meet Dave! :D
A get together afterwards sounds terrific, Kathy.
Kathy, that's very generous of you! What could be more fun than a day of plants & DG company and your cooking? NOTHING!
Wishing Dad good health!!!!!
Okay, Friday it is -- now what time does everyone think they will arrive? I believe the gates open at 7am, but I could be wrong. I'll prob. be there bright and early.
Dave
The only way we'd be there at 7am is if Howie and I just don't go to bed, LOL. I'll have to consult with the Mister. :)
I'm considering a hotel stay so I can be there early. I haven't called yet, but I need to do that!
Since I am hoping to ride with GW and Co. I will go when they tell me to! LOL
If we get there too early we might have a lot of time to kill before Lupy's Lasagna Lunch...but I guess we could all go somewhere and get coffee and dessert first!
Lupy, can I bring something to the lunch, like brownies or cookies? Hmmmm?
Yes, I'd like to bring something too! Plants or food, Lupine, your choice :)
I will probably have some plants to share, too. I will have a better idea as the day gets closer; my perennials are just starting to emerge.
Desserts would be welcome :) I don't know if any severe chocoholics are going to come, but almost any sweet treat would probably be devoured by the gang.
I will be at DeMonye's when they open, and if it is like me and all the other years, I will be there until 10 or 10:30. We can decide as a group what to do after that. I had figured to have lunch available around noon or 1:00, and if it is going to be like past get-togethers, we will still be talking and laughing until those living far away have to go.
Morph, we have a guest room; you would be MORE than welcome to come and stay with me Thursday night. Just give me a holler. That way we can carpool over to the sale.
Rosiesplace is still lurking here -- but as of yesterday she said she is going to be attending, too. I think she said Rosie is also going to come. Maybe we can get him to say something *grin And I am going to do my absolute best to get many of my extra perennials potted up before this, so I might have an extra hundred or so plants.
Kimberley, are your Mom and Bob going to be coming again?
Kathy, that is TOO nice of you! You have enough on your hands already and I'm such a grump in the morning that you'd think you didn't know me ~ lol. Also, I tend to do things last minute, so I'll probably being driving there during the middle of the night.
I sure am getting excited! I'll be visiting my dad soon and he has shingles so please pray that I do not get these from him!
Oooh, ouch, Morph! Shingles are so painful -- my mom had them once.
Speaking of mom, she and dad will be there Friday. :) Howie is bowing out, though. It just won't work out with his work schedule. I'm trying to convince him to at least drive in later for lunch at Kathy's. Bah - schedule conflicts!!
Giggle Hmm, a sleep over with Jekyll and Morph. hehehe
I still haven't made any plans either way but obviously y'all haven't seen any kind of announcement either. Hmph!
Sounds like we are going to have a good crowd of us there. My dad's shingels are supposedly under control and fortunately, he doesn't appear to have a bad case. I guess they came out with newer medications that weren't necessarily available when people used to get them really bad like Lotusblossom. Keeping my fingers crossed though!
Michelle, you have to have her soon so you'll have a little recovery time and be up for the trip! Doesn't she already know how much gardening is going to be a part of her life? If not, she had better get used to it!
Tell Howie hi for me, Kim!
Do we have a count yet who is probably coming?
Rosiesplace has offered to bring salad for the meal, she would like to know how many to prepare for (see, Von, I said I would post if you didn't!) LOL
I plan on coming (thanks to GW for providing transportation) and I still need to know what to bring.....donuts, maybe? Brownies? My oven is on the fritz but I have a close relationship with Entenmann's. LOL
I was planning on dividing a lot of perennials and irises and bringing the extra's but the weather has been so cold and wet I don't know if I will be able to do that.....:^(
I know what you mean -- we've done nothing outside yet. With all the rain, everything's going to take off like wildfire, friends and foes alike!
I know how you feel, I am having the same problem and to top it off you know we are expecting more rain.
I am praying that April will forget the showers in my garden this year I don't think it could take anymore water after all the rain and flooding I've had this winter. I thought I only had to worry about flooding in the spring and summer.....go figure
Even with the 620 lbs that I have put in the garden hasn't stopped the flooding /;{
And Sunday night it is going down to 24.....that will kill the magnolia blooms. Of course, by Tuesday it is supposed to be 60....sometimes I hate Ohio weather. *SIGH*
Oh, no -- down to 24 Sunday?? Maybe it is good that I have not cleared up the dead plant material from last season, then! Any excuse to make me feel less guilty about not being out in the yard!
Lupy - Bob and I are planning to be there too. And I shall bring a dessert.
Yes, Sunday is supposed to be in the 30's, with 30 mph winds and light snow, and the low Sunday night will be in the low 20's. Back up to normal (50's) for a couple days in the middle of the week and then another cold blast, according to Jym Ganahl on NBC4 here in Columbus. So it might be quite chilly Friday morning.
I will be there! As far as the weather goes --------- You know what they say, "Three more snows after the forsythia bloom!" And, they just bloomed this past weekend!
Oh no! I guess it's back to the shed with my Angel Face rose and Lemon Grass, I am so tired of moving things around here /;{
Well, Chele ushered Maddy into the world this morning...think she'll make it to the plant sale with family in tow? Anyone who can have a baby at 9:30am and be home and posting about the birth at 3:30pm can do ANYTHING. Chele, you are amazing!
Depending on the weather, which right now isn't very good, I will try to dig up some give-away plants I have if anyone going to deMonye's would like some. I will post a list here and people going to deMonye's can let me know on this thread or through an email if they would be interested. That way I will know which plants to dig... This is only for DGer's going to deMonye's. Unfortunately, I am too busy to package anything up and mail it out to anyone else at this time.
oriental poppy - probably orange, maybe pink
bearded iris 'Lady in Red' 18"
campanula portenschlagia
campanula macrantha? not sure which campanula this one is
hellebore seedlings - very small, recently germinated
various dwarf bearded irises - blues, pinks, bicolors
lobelia siphilitica
large clumps of common daylily (ditch lily)
drumstick allium seedlings
forget-me-not (myosotis)
primulas, various colors and varieties
columbines
tall bearded irises - pastel pink, peach
sedum - possibly 'Brilliant"?? pale lavender pink flowers
If I think of more I will add them later.
This is dependent on the weather and my energy levels, neither of which are looking too good at the moment! LOL
Whatever I am able to dig up will probably just be in sandwich bags as I am currently using all my pots for seedlings. So if anyone is interested in anything let me know.

I'd love some iris, Zilchwater - any of these:
bearded iris 'Lady in Red' 18"
various dwarf bearded irises - blues, pinks, bicolors
tall bearded irises - pastel pink, peach
I have some pretty triple orange daylilies:

I also have many little seedlings of Northern Sea Oats (emphasis on little - unless I find a few that made it from self-seeding last year):

Like you, I'm not sure how things will be this week for digging. I've not even worked outside yet this year. If it doesn't work out for us to trade at the time of the sale, we can always do so later.
Good plan, GW. I know in May I will have many more plants up that will need new homes. Seems like everything is slow this year because of the cold.
The little work I have done outside has been mostly cleaning up winter debris and emptying the compost bin to make room for all that stuff. Still have a lot of clean up to do, but the back half of my yard is a lagoon and I can't find my waders. Sure wish things would dry out a bit. I have had standing water in parts of my yard since last summer.
I just looked up the iris, 'Lady In Red'. It looks nice! I saw this, too...Doesn't it just make you drool? http://www.gratrixgardenlilies.com/raspbblush.htm
Oh yes, it is gorgeous. I have been following all of the iris posts in the PDB since last summer and I have a wish list of hundreds and probably room for 3! A girl can dream though.
