I have a question on "Current Events".

Does this include "natural disasters"? Such as catastrophic earthquakes, or the recent Tsunami? Those weren't caused by humans. If we had a loved one involved, is it wrong to ask for prayer for them? I understand there is a little political stuff around them, like who contributes what, but if we stayed off that and just remained focused on the victims, is that ok? If this was covered by someone else on the thread, I didn't see it. I recall a threads going on about the hurricanes this last fall. We have members from around the globe, not just in the U.S.

"discussion ... of a political nature" covers everything quite nicely, so I don't see any need for an update.

The Tsunami is not political, but the minute you start talking about the politics surrounding it, then you've turned it political.

thanks, Dave, that clarifies it for me. As long as we were discussing the plight of the people and the history of earthquake and tsunami, it was acceptable. Once the posts turned to what country had donated the most, it started to become a problem. So, I guess we should just keep reminding ourselves and each other that what we post within someone's thread can seal the fate of the whole thread. Private emailing is always available for political comment.

Thanks Dave, that clears it up for me. I didn't see the thread that was the cause of this thread's revival so I wasn't sure what exactly brought this up. Now I understand thanks to Weez.

Guys, don't forget, you do not have to name exactly the situation to ask for prayer. If you're a Christian, and believe in God- he sees and and knows all. He knows about our troops- just as he knows about other countries troops. Just asking for prayer and not naming the recipiant as a soldier would still work in prayer.
We as people feel the need for details.. but God doesnt need those.
This is a massive forum with so many views... alot of us are in support of our troops- but there are those that oppose any war entirely- it could cause alot of problems for Dave and the rest of the team if we are allowed to post specific prayers for a specific cause like this.
Don't feel like you're being shushed and it's shameful to need prayer, we just need to word our posts so it doesnt go against the rules.

My foot is usually hovering in a state of readiness, happy to pop into mouth at the smallest opportunity. So I practise hopping with a hope of becoming ambifootstrous after Terry, Weez, gardenwife, Ulrich et al

I would sure hope even if one was against war, they would never ever be against someone asking or saying a prayer for a soldier. I would hope too even if one were against all wars, they would be hoping for the best for our soldiers. And if they aren't, I sure hope that does not mean that we can't say we support our soldiers on here.

A lot of people are against prayer too in public, I read. Against saying God in public. I hear they get offended by just seeing Christmas trees. Macy's felt so many people would get offended they forbid any references to Christmas in their stores or ads. I sure hope that does not mean we won't be allowed to say GOD or Christmas on here.
