sandy we had a contest last yr for that very thing!!!
JoanJ won!
You know my madien name was DAY
Dori P. Day
but dori is short for....................!
How did you pick your DG name? Part 3
(Hehehehe...and we're off!) ;>)
We've had more fun around here with NAMES, eh!?
I must get out to repot those kalanchoes, do some weed and feed and other productive stuff. But I have spent the last 3 hours tracking JoanJ to find Dori's proper given name. So I will be the stinker who reveals it again (I wasn't even a member back then). Dori you did give us a hint on that hunt. But the "last year" part of it was a bit deceptive. It's been near on to 2 years since you announced the winner. Time does fly now. http://davesgarden.com/t/229809/joanj
Now, where's that thread that Horseshoe claims he thinks he revealed his given name. (no real hints from him)
Shoe, you must tell us, you can't continue keeping me from my garden chores. LOL
Yah-hahahahaha......! *maniacal laugh, stage left.....! τΏτ
Actually, all I wanted to do was have a common email for tha wife and myself.
I'm charlie she's Vella.
[ chavel ]
lol molly you did it! lol
good work girl! i cant believe you spent that much time looking! lol
shoe your next!
grrrrrrrrr! watch out!
LOL, yeah, I can't believe it either, just lost track of time.
Now c'mon Shoe, give us a hint?
Molly
I know Shoe's real name...I'll letcha know for $1. ;)
I put that dollar in the mail, GW, now what's Shoes given name?
Molly
:^)
I'll send a dollar to the garden angel fund!
There ya go. Maybe people should guess like they did with Dori...Poor R-r-r-r-r-boy can't bear to say it, though. Mebbe he should tell it. ;)
Hehehehe....such a big grin on my face it's making my ear lobes stand out horizontal! ;>)
Before I fergit...
Chavel! A bigtime Welcome to DG! Just noticed your sign up date. Come on in and have a seat! Make yourself at home!
Now as for that other name? Hmm...R--- R---...RRRR...
Dagnabbit! I have SUCH a hard time in my older age!
*ahem*
Two dollars for the Angel fund...
Horseshoe, I know better than to ask your real name but I am curious about how you got "shoe". Did I miss it in the above posts?? BTW and since I'm being so NOSEY anyway, where is your town? I have some kin in Charlotte, Dallas, Gastonia and Bessemer City. You know any Smiths up there??? LOL!!!! Like who doesn't know any Smiths anywhere on this PLANET!!!
Two dollars? Two? Ebadeeba -deeba-dolla-trey-dolla-dolla-dolla-do i hear a dollla four, com'on now heeb-deeba-deeba do I hear a four-goin' for a four now...!
berrygirl, I ain't shy about my name, any of em! (just cain't say one of em!) As for Smiths? There is a blacksmith up the road a ways. And last time I's in Charlotte I breezed thru on a Triumph Daytona to get me a mixed drink in South Carolina (that was so long ago they didn't have them kinda drinks in NC); I know in Gastonia they got the best Carolina BBQ you'll ever sink your incisors into!; now as for Dallas?...ain't that in Texas? (Bessemer City rings a bell now!)
As for how I got the 'Shoe name...that's the thread we're all trying to find. If I get time tonite I'll give it a good search.
*big grin* - some of the highest bidding auctions start at a dollar... :)
Shoe you need a little help with that R name> ? lol
id like to buy a vowel-how bout an "E"?
Rene' ? Horseshoe?
Did you say you knew his name Dori?
Shoe you are no older than me, sure you can remember?
Hehehe....DORI...your vowel is accepted.
I remember accepting my vowels once. The preacher was standing before us and saying...er, wait!
♫Never mind....♫ (I was thinking of vows.)
RE___....hmmmmmmmmmm, how many letters total?
Could it be Rex?
And the winner!....sbarr! (Too bad, I don't have a prize handy for ya! Sorry!)
But thanks to Dave and his sharing in his journal, I am fond of also sharing the last article about us/me and the farm...view the real name, and pics, here:
http://davesgarden.com/j/viewentry/5612/

charlie
Charlie, we always have a great time here at DG! Pretty cool, eh!?
By the way, that pic of me lies...I'm mighty gray now! (At least my beard is! The head hair is lightening up and also seeking new horizons!)
Well, I am justified in bumping this thread since you brought up that loverly newpaper picture, Shoe...
http://davesgarden.com/t/99440/
:) I'll send the money to the angel fund this week. I'll include a note - "this is in recognition of he who shall be known as Horseshoe, AKA R__" - Of course Dave will think I am nuts, but that's to be expected around here.
Hehehe..that's just a give around here, ya gotta be nuts (or on your way there!).
GW, these folks are gonna be so confused now! They'll always wonder. "Will the real Horseshoe please stand up?"
What a great thread! I missed this when I started DG's..there's so many good choices & so little time.
Mine's pretty obvious,too...my Dad gave it to me as a kid actually( a long time ago). I've always loved critters and always kept em,hence MsCritter keeper or on some Mrs.CK,now...but it didn't take long on here for it to get shortened to MsC. LOL
Thanks for bumping this one up...
Lottie
OK, I'll play :) When I surfed into DG one day, I knew right away that I wanted to be a member. I wanted a name that was fun and reflected the garden. That very day I found a ladybug that had somehow found its way into the house. As I set it free outside it occurred to me that I'd also found my DG name. I played around with the spelling some just to make it interesting:) My real name is Cynthia and my nick is Cindy.
Hi All!!
I miss this thread too, when it started
way back when.
Mine name was simple, DH hobby is Bee Keeping.
Honeybee
NC= North Carolina
plants = obvious right?
man = trust me.... I man, lol
Ray
I didn't feel a need for anonymity, and my name wasn't taken, so I just used my real name. (Creative writing was never my strong point.)
I think I put this somewhere else. Anyway, my mothers dad was Frank Andrew Kittredge. I was named as my parents 2nd son after him. (Rex G. like Red Green?)
hehehe....No comment, Frankay!
Kelli, my name isn't an "anonymity"...I think more people in the world call me Horseshoe (or Shoe) than call me by my given name. (It's so confusing sometimes...I often don't know which name to leave when I need to leave telephone message!)
OK I promise not to pester Shoe anymore. (It is fun tho..He's always got a snappy answer) As some Vulcan said,"live long and prosper".
Frankay...I don't feel pestered, not at all! Besides, I need the outlet to give those "snappy answers" somewhere!
"Live Long and Prosper" (Ouch!, just cramped my fingers up again! Never did learn to divide them up like that!) ;>)
I posted this on the other thread which isn't going anywhere so I'll put it over here. My DG name is my maiden name. With a last name like mine, (Feucht), at times pronounced somewhat profanely by telemarketers that get hung up on promptly - now honestly, don't you think they could figure out it wouldn't be pronounced that way? - I don't use it a lot for on line things. I always liked my maiden name - so do our kids, they use it more and more for the same reason stated above! I'm Dutch but DH is German - to pronounce it in German or Dutch you would do the gutteral, throat clearing noise (euch) with a 't' at the end. Means damp in both languages. We have gotten lazy and just rhyme it with bike now. MIL still says Fikt.
Read on the net that some Feuchts have changed it to reflect more closely the pronunciation and now are Foyts, as in A.J. Now, I have no clue if he is related, actually don't really care if he is related, just repeating what I read. :)
My brother found a book that has the families of Texel (largest island off the coast of the Netherlands) listed back hundreds of years. He found our dad's family back to 1630. Isn't that neat? Our original last name was Stoelmatter or caner of chairs. This couple had 2 boys who were orphaned at 6 and 8 yrs. old. They were from De Koog, on the western side of the island. They were sent to an orphanage in Den Burg, the largest town where over time, they were known as the boys from De Koog because of their long last name. Eventually they became Koogers and that's how it came to be! Now, wake up everybody, the story's over!! :)
And I am from Anna Paulowna, just across the water from De Koog. It used to be a 45 minute boat ride....now it takes all of about 15 minutes. Visited quite a few times....they grow a lot of Daffodils there now and are specialized in Yellow Crocus. Good to read about a neighbor. De Groeten.
The Netherlands mean Holland right? And which other countries are included in the N'lands?
I just stumbled on this thread. We always have beeh CG.
Easier for people writing us checks!
As for Shoe, there was something one time about a trip into a store & some duck tape or something. It's in DG's somewhere for those that need to know. I can't remember for sure if it
has to do with the nickname.
Bernie
