How did you pick your DG name? Part 3

Newark, OH(Zone 5b)

This is a continuation of http://davesgarden.com/showthread/161863.html

I just liked the sound of Gardenwife because it kind of sums up how I feel about myself. Gardenhubby was born of Gardenwife, LOL. I didn't act quickly enough to register gardenwife.com, but I registered gardenwife.net and hope to things set up soon as I can get the URL forwarding set up.

I think my DG name is pretty self explanatory and is also part of my email address. This is fun getting to know you by your DG name and real names.

Seward, AK(Zone 3b)

For years I've held a business license for various endeavours under the name Weezinbiznus. When we started selling plants, we called the nursery Weezingreens. It just seemed like a logical choice. I've noticed that some posters refer to me as wheez.. they must think I have a lung problem!

Belfield, ND(Zone 4a)

LOL! I've referred to you as Weeze, but I've since discovered what your real name is. I still like weeze though. Ü

Seward, AK(Zone 3b)

Heck, JoanJ, you can call me anything you like, and I'll still answer!

Newark, OH(Zone 5b)

Like Weezy on the Jeffersons. :)

Helsinki, Finland(Zone 4b)

I don't like nicknames so much it gets confusing remember who is who when you get emails and things you know.. =) Anyway in Finnish gardening discus forum I am Huuhkaja. Evert is my second name (I have 3 names) and I've always known as Evert so it was easy to choose. Hehe.

Lewis Center, OH(Zone 6a)

welp, my name is angie, and i suppose i could've just picked that, but i was in a nickname sort of mood, so i went with pangie. also, just minutes before i signed up on dg, i had been working on my website (angiepangie.com) and pangie was still in my head.

Troy, VA(Zone 7a)

Easy!! I had a wonderful aunt called Louise and last year finally, after roaming the world, put down roots in Louisa County!! I'm Margaret, mags, maggie, meg and lots more that I don't care to reveal :-)

Jesteburg-Wiedenhof, Germany(Zone 8a)

Wintermoor is a lovely little village on the North-German-Heath, close to where my wife was brought up, and next to where her father bred his Hannover horses. I just liked the name since it sounded so peaceful and tranquil.
I thought, first of all, of Highlander (as I was born on The Isle of Skye)for a general internet name, but decided against it when I found out that 1 million others had already registered the name in just about every chat, forum et al.
I've never had a problem with Wintermoor.
I'm Barry.

All the best

Wintermoor (aka Barry)

I was watching dear maratha one day-she had a new potting shed built for her. Jealousy sunk in very deep!!!! I already wanted her latin gardener now a potting shed too!!!! ;] I was told about davesgarden and I needed a nickname....hmmmmmm...
It was either Notmartha OR Martha Martha Martha(like marsha brady) I figured it was easier to type Notmartha, hince I became-Notmartha. I was going to change it to dori-but it kinda grew on me!
Im dori and thats short for Dor____________? Gardenwife is still wondering what goes in that blank! LOL

Troy, VA(Zone 7a)

I love the name Wintermoor - sort of reminds me of the Yorkshire moors and yes, Wuthering Heights!!! Come to think of it, you could have been Heathcliff :-)

Jesteburg-Wiedenhof, Germany(Zone 8a)

You would also like the village and the area. Some beautiful gardens, and heather blooming for miles. If you ever get a chance to see a map of Germany, the part north of Hanover to just south of Hamburg, is the Heath (Heide),
Wanda came from the North-Heath (Nord Heide), and slap-bang in the middle is Wintermoor.

All the best

Wintermoor

Troy, VA(Zone 7a)

It sounds delightful - I would roll in that heather if I could!!

Jerome, MI(Zone 5b)

Dor______? sheesh...I'm still scratching my head bald figgering it out too. Doreen? Dorothy? Dory...like a little boat that follows a bigger boat, and you were named after your big mama? (er, am I thinking that's called a dingy?) (well, I know your Notdingy Notmartha). Oh well, here comes another long nite of sleeplessness trying to solve this puzzle.

Newark, OH(Zone 5b)

Wicked, Wicked, Dori_________. This quest will undoubtably follow me to my grave!

Bay City, MI(Zone 6a)

Dorince?

Spicewood, TX(Zone 8b)

I gotta' get in on this! I thought and thought and thought some more and took a whole bunch of stabs at it on your other thread, GW.

As for my name, it's a family nickname. When my two nephews were younger and the youngest was learning to talk, "Aunt Linda" came out "Anwinga", so the older one said, "It sounds like he's saying "Aunt Wingnut!" I was driving in demolition derbies at the time, so it stuck. I haven't driven in two years, but they still call me "Wingnut." It's good to use on the 'net ~ if I stick to garden sites and avoid hot rod car sites, it's not usually taken. *grin!* In that case, if you ever see "Aunt Wingnut" in there, talking car talk, it's probably me. LOL!

N.C. Mts., NC(Zone 6b)

Elizabeth is my middle name and h for my last name..

Bay City, MI(Zone 6a)

we use to refer to Dennis Rodman(basketball)as wing nut-becuz his ears stuck out like wingnuts! lol I is a stinker!

I like your reason to be called wingnut much better! =]

Antrim, Northern Ire, United Kingdom(Zone 8b)

I was born with mine! LOL

Mark

Spicewood, TX(Zone 8b)

LOL, Dor_______! (That's driving me crazy now! LOL!) Ol' Dennis and me, well, we're quite different ~ about two feet and three pounds of pigment ~ I can't even get a tan in the summer! Yep, still glow in the dark in July.

Grand Prairie, TX

Well, my mom is COCO on here and since i am her daughter (her SEED) well, i am COCOSEED :-)

Mount Prospect, IL(Zone 5a)

O.K. Dori. could it be Dorcas? My grandfather used to call me that. My name, djm906 was given to me when I signed up to get the internet through NWU. I probably should have changed the 906 part to 908 as thats my birthdate. Doris

Thanks Kimberly for bumping this up, i am not a newbie, but apparently i missed this thread so many times before. sometime ago, GrannyLois ask me if i came from another country. it did not give me no alternative but to explain what my name meant or what it stood for. here's the url, somewhere in the middle of the thread is the explanation ... http://davesgarden.com/showthread/162571.html. i didn't want to be repetitious, thereby referring back to the thread.... ma vie

Lincoln City, OR(Zone 9a)

LOL Don't feel bad, Ma Vie, I missed this thread too. I am Ponditis because I have always had the itch to have lots of ponds. Now I have two and am digging number three and plan on digging four, five and six this fall so I guess my itch is getting scratched. I also go by part of my Hawaiian middle name, Leilani, shortened to Lani. Lani

High Desert, CA(Zone 8a)

Lani... i like ur name, reminds me of my daughter. her name is Mei Lani, meaning my little flower. she is beautiful like a lovely and colorful flower herself. My, my, u must have a big space to garden and build all those ponds. do u also have different fishes on ur pond?

Toadsuck, TX(Zone 7a)

Well, the cat is outta the bag........I'm a retired Certified Optician, from North Texas!!!

"eyes"

Versailles, CT(Zone 7a)

My name, Mandy, was taken so I used the Welsh for gardens instead because I was trying to learn Welsh at the time and because Wales has a new Botanical garden, the Aberglasney medieval garden, Bodnant garden and lots and lots of others. Wonderful place.

By the way, my 'name' is pronounced Gairthi

Gerddi (Mandy)

This has been quite the trip down these threads. Not very creative - mine are my initials.

Loretta

Newark, OH(Zone 5b)

What, L C? I think Elsie is pretty darned creative for that!

Montgomery Center, VT(Zone 3b)

You all have wonderful names and it is interesting to read about them. Myself, I picked a name to challenge your spelling skills..........No!...ok then my parents forced it on me to enhance my spelling skills? Well it didn't work as I still feel lost without spell check...lol!!!

Happy gardening!
Jerry G

Tokyo, Japan

BTW Jerry - how do you pronounce it???

Tokyo, Japan

In my case, back when I was an occaisional lurker in the rec.gardens usenet groups, esp. .cacti, it was somewhat fashionable to take the name of your favorite genus or species.

I started out as "Echinofossulocactuszacatecasensis"..... but soon gave that up.

(BTW, you'd be surprised at how many people elsewhere, seeing that I post from Asia, assume that it is my real name; ie. Lop-hop Hora :D

Laurel, DE(Zone 7a)

Okay, DH's last name is Haigh (no not as in Alexander). I kept my maiden name when we got married only because I didn't want to answer the phone saying "Hello, Candee Gaye Haigh". Old college friends always called him haighr rather than Steve and it stuck. Now that we live in Hagerstown I stole his nickname and have used it for years, hence "haighr"

Morro Bay, CA

Hi Everyone,

I'm fairly new to the site...just a month here...but I'm loving it already!

I've used this name on a few chat boards, so it gives me some continuity to use it here too. The name is descriptive of me...I live in a fairly bohemian part of CA and read everything I can get my hands on! =)

Now for the question: Dor____?

I'm not sure if this has been said before, but here's my guess. Is it Dorthea?

Best to all of you,

Jen
