New thread ...who is in on MG War???

Hey now I never said I couldn't be bribed!!! lol I think this will be fun and may the best or worst morning glory win. lol

Guess I'd better get my MGs planted..I have never grown them before but got lots of seeds.. have one arbor setup but need more..count me in.

OK...Windsurffer sent me a pack of seed....so I'm a gonna get in this here contest....how do you plant these things anyhow? How long does it take for them to come up? Is there gonna be a Color Classification? I wouldn't stoop so low as to bribe a judge! Besides, they want too much...I think I'll win this thing hands down....well...just as soon as I learn how to plant it! WHOOOPPEEEE....Jo

I have never grown any but sure have plans to this year.
BTW some of U experts.. what is the smallest container that I can get good blooms (winning blooms) from. I plan on putting about 6 or 7 containes to grow in a barbed wire fence.

Nana, I think "gluing" blooms would definitely win "most creative cheater" category!! Maybe we should have a category for "goofiest" entry!!!
BTW, bribes will be accepted at any time, but my short term memory isn't so good, so I may forget who sent them!!

Hey Jo, You need some of those CHOCOLATE morning Glories!
Maybe even a catagory for the deadest morning glory plant? Some of my seedlings are falling over and its still too cold to put them out! I can hear you all, "Good, less competition!!!"

Ok...now u ppl in the south got a head start, but this year's winner is going to be a Canuck. I got my seeds soaking, sprouting, popping and doing all kinds of things.

I will give them "Jack-in-the-Morning-Glory-fertilizer" so they can grow and touch heaven. Just wait until you see my babies blooming.

I think there should be a category for the "Best Bribe too".

Deadline for pictures Sept 30 th 2002...

5 Categories are as follows...

(1) Most blooms
(2) Prettiest flower
(3) Best ugliest LOL
(4) Biggest bloom
(5) Best combination

BOY, Have I better get busy & plant my seeds.. It is gonna rain all week. Will I ever get them planted?? I do have the pots & dirt ready. Now if I just had some fancy seeds but maybe common is better. Any MG is pretty & can be a winner I'm sure :) I KNOW mine will (maybe at least the ugliest category) Now let me see.. what have I got to bribe with & which judge will be the easiest *LOL*

I've got 2 hanging baskets of mini-blue-morning-glories started. Seeds came from Coco about a year and a half ago, and they all germinated, even at their advanced age. :-)
I never have trouble growing MGs directly in the ground here. I just have trouble tearing out the wild ones before they choke other things.

MG seeds are viable to 7 years as I have read...and probably lots of others, I wonder if there is a book or documentation on the viability of seeds...

Okay, you all sucked me in. I nicked some seeds tonight and have them soaking. I also have a very nice person here sending me more seeds. Thanks Poppysue! Now, I need to get DH off the couch and into the shop to build me some more trellises. Is there a "first time MG grower" category?
