Victoria Harbour, ON

Ok, haven’t had time Lindakay to go to link so won’t until there is a post that makes it seem more plausible they want to jump in and join us.

Been at it all day, young Peighton was here for her lesson, her mom just picked her, had ordered pizza from Bubba next for (2 restaurants next to me) and brought 2 slices, Lordy that was a treat

Now to clean up my mess, shut down everything downstairs' freeze banana muffins I made and call it a day

Tomorrow will be a long day, so much to prepare for Sunday’s class, thought I’d be done today, chiro appt first thing so won’t hurt me to have an early night.

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

I agree, Linda Kay - can't be assured that it's not a scammer. Sure looks like one. People don't just jump in new to the group & post links unless they're "click bait".
yum, Pizza - nice treat for you, Betty :)
Difficult day for you, being the 59th anniversary. Glad that you had something to occupy your mind today. How's Peighton doing?

I went to the County Office & got an application for a Grant for the Robbie Burns Night. They told me that this is just the sort of thing they like to give grants for - Community events within the County that raise awareness of the town/hamlet & involve the residents.

Happy Thanksgiving everyone…hope you are all spending it with family!

Morning, cold one out there, have to leave in 20 minutes so just warming up my car, it hasn’t moved in a week.

Now wouldn’t that be grand Susan is they gave you a grant to help out. Peighton did fine, made her ornaments, 2 gnomes, 2 cinnamon stick Xmas trees and wool fabric wreath, her sister just got married so she hopes her sister will love putting it on her tree.

Lots of running around this morning, pain 5 more wood backgrounds and am ready for Sunday.

Sharon finished a wall hanging so am sure she will drop it off for me to hand sew the binding, today she is quilting her last one, maybe she will wait and bring both at same time.

Best i start my day

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Susan, we are praying you get that grant.

Happy Thanksgiving everyone.

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

I've asked for $600. I got an email back saying that it will be brought to the Council on Dec 10th, and they'll let me know after the meeting. On a separate sheet I outlaid all the expenses I'll incur (like for the piper - $200), and who (within the County) I've asked for food donations. I'm hoping that the local butcher will reopen & provide the haggis, but if not I'll go to Calgary & get it. It's an hour drive, but I know the quality of their haggis. I'm not going to get frozen haggis from a supermarket. I want to win people over with quality, not skimp & turn people off of it. I may be part Scottish and thrifty, but quallity always tells.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Just did my first shovelling for beginning of this winter. I’m sure it’s not going to be the last now but it started calling for three miserable snowy stormy days. Susan and I do hope you get the grant you always put so much effort in everything you do I know will be a success. Don’t know if I live in the wrong area or it’s not my nationality but I don’t think I’ve ever heard of haggis is being sold around here.

Are you all exhausted from your Thanksgiving yesterday
I’ve decided it’s going to be a PJ day I’m slicing up vegetables for soup chicken soup and that’s about the extent other than here and they’re tying up my craft room
All in all a quiet day

northeast, IL(Zone 5a)

Had a nice Thanksgiving yesterday. It was hectic, but, all turned out well.

Ran out this morning, I'm supposed to get fasting blood work done, but, the lab didn't have the order from my doctor. They're closed for the weekend, so will try again next week. I'm having gallbladder surgery the day after Christmas. Got my tree up and lights done, will try to decorate it later. Not feeling 100% at the moment. Think I'll stick close to home today and tomorrow. I need to drive to Lansing MI on Sunday to pick up Luca from the handler. He'll be coming home after this weekend of shows.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Sorry to hear you need surgery Deb, bet you are not looking forward to it. Will you be in hospital for a few days?here is hoping you aren’t in line for the snow squall region, you would be following the lake, it’s what about 3-4 hr drive one way? Long trip when you are unwell.

Once the tree is up you can take your time working on the ornaments.
You won’t be doing Christmas though? Glad you had f7n at Thanksgiving, takes a it to recoup from that.

It’s not sure if it wants to snow or rain right now. Needed meds and wasn’t about to get out of my nighty so off I drove, all bundled up and nobody noticed.

Back on couch but I have to make an effort to clean my craft room so i can set up for Sunday. Should set alarm for every hour and make myself do something even for 15 minutes, have you tried that?

Chatham, ON

Hello everyone,
I am unsure where to start a new post? So I'm here and hope that's ok. I wanted to thank everyone for voting in the calendar contest. The photos were stunning. Congrats to all the winners
Sue

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

Of course it's OK, Sue.
btw - I'm Susan, nice to meet you

I hope to have some time to myself after tomorrow's Christmas Market at the Community Centre here in town. I'll have to take over boxes of books, and set up a Christmas tree to put the ornaments on for sale at it.
Maybe then I'll be able to work on Michelle & Lonnie's throw quilt, and actually send it to them when the strike's over.

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

We had 16 for dinner Thursday and it was nice. Adam & his family came. I am hopeful this will be a continuation of the improvement in Andrea & my relationship.

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

That's great, Pat - so pleased for you that your relationship with Andrea is looking up.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Morning

Welcome Sue, love looking at photo’s during these contests, everyone so creative.

Susan, let’s hope you get the quilt done and that our mail strike is done. Sharon is hoping to go stateside next weekend this the reason I’m working on gett8ng all her quilts done so she can post them along with our blocks.

Pat, sounds like some headway was made, but like with Mel I have to be guarded with all I i say,ni don’t worry about it much anymore, was decades ago when the first married.

Nap time

5-6” if not ,ore of snow, went outside at 2am and just came in 3:30am, a heavy wet snow so hard going.running my bath, bath and hot chocolate should help then I might sit for an hour and unwind and do more hand sewing on Sharon’s quilt.
Managed to do a wall hanging binding yesterday and 90% of another so will finish it and grab an hour or 2 sleep before Raina comes for her lesson.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Just getting ready to leave for chiro, sometimes I wonder why I take first appt of the day but like getting it over with.

We had a blizzard here Friday eve and all day Saturday, i would venture to say we had 2’+,

Ithought my children’s craft workshop would have to be cancel, was nice then at 8 it started up again but nobody cancelled, by noon it was blue skies so had full house

23 kids, 1 picked up her kit at 4:30
3 more kits will be picked up today or tomorrow.

I closed the craft area door last night and said to self it wan wait until tomorrow.

So all and all I had quite the weekend

Hmm do any of you have trouble accessing DG, I have to log in each time!

Well best I drink my coffee and go see if I can get out and get more of the snow off my roof/hood, it has a crust on it and difficult to do, it’s running so hope with a bit more scrapping i can leave on time

Gab later

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

I managed to get one "before picture" in there. I would definitely do the fireplace garland again. That was the cheapest, easiest decorating. A plain garland, add a set of lights and balls all in silver, then wind a BIG mesh blue ribbon thru it. The only blue is the mesh, so VERY easy to change to another color later. SOOOOOO cheap! The balls were all leftovers from other projects I took apart, the garland less than $6 and the mesh from the dollar store.
We found the sled and stuffed animals at various thrift stores and I drilled wood and added doweling to "control" the placement of the stuffies. The dog & cat have left the stuffies alone, a Christmas miracle! LOL

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

This is the coolest nativity! The pieces all fit within the "building" when it's time to pack it away. Our corner was too dark so it has a standing Ott light to illuminate it. So far Stanley has got up on the buffet and looked at it but left it alone. We're grateful, we didn't know how that would go.
The Tall Boy antique without decorations and then you can just make it out in the 4th picture with "presents" on top. The last picture, my least favorite decoration, the wreath. Marie paid $20 for those light up blue ornaments, everything else was stuff I repurposed from an old wreath she had. She says I am FINALLY have as many decorations out as she wants. I would have stopped sooner! LOL

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

TWO feet of snow overnight Betty! You are made of hardier stuff than me! And no one canceled!!! Ya, you can tell your community is used to snow! Ours would have been paralyzed!

Victoria Harbour, ON

Finally able to get on but not without mega trouble grrr

Now I have to sign in, go to my account, looked for threads started tmr and here i is.

Pat, love your decorations, you certainly have a talent, love the Blue. Did you happen to make your sleigh? Mega work isn’t it to look festive. I’ve 2 bins of lights for inside the windows and outside but with this snow I am not going to look for them.

In my jammies and can’t move my left arm, 3 Tylenol 3 and pain still as bad.

Took some banana muffins out of the freezer but decided I would make a chocolate pie, it will have to set so maybe it will be a midnight snack 😜

Jules who plows just came, said he came to do drive again yesterday but full of cars, understandable for sure.

Pat, about 40 miles north of us they got more than double what we got

Thumbnail by Bettypauze
(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

No, I found the sled JUST like that at the thrift store. I can't remember how much I paid for it, maybe $12? When we decided to decorate Christmas in blue, I assured Marie she could choose something different next year if she wanted. I am hoping she will like the blue well enough to agree to STAY with blue so I can weed out the rest of the red stuff and not have to keep it.
YIKES, 4 feet, I am grateful we don't get that much snow but, we get brutal summers with temps frequently in 100s.
Yeah, I don't like this "new" set up either! I liked going right to the thread notification so we could get to our forums.

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

Pat - I agree, those big blue light up balls are too much for the size of the rest of the wreath. That being said, I bought a HUGE wreath at the Christmas Market in town on Saturday. It's a bit wider than my front door, so I put it inside where the door swings inward. Near the end of the sales, the vendor (friend of mine) sold it to me for 1/2 price - $30. I also got a large snowman for my front deck box. It's under the overhang so it's good outside. Mostly made of felt - about 3ft tall.
A friend of mine plowed my driveway. I'd shovelled the side my car's on, but I didn't have it cleared for anyone to park next to me, only behind me. There is room for 4 vehicles in my driveway. He also fixed my Christmas lights outside - the ones in front came down & took my Christmas boxes out to the shed. He & his wife wouldn't take any $$ for him doing this. I'm SO happy. They're a really nice couple of people.

I didn't like the new front page, either. I didn't have to log in, but did have to search for this thread. However, I'm happy that I can "return to post". That's been broken for a long time.

Took forever to get to this page, big sigh

Let’s hope amarie falls in love with the blue. I’ll go back and look at the sleigh, maybe i can duplicate ☺️

Like me Susan, you are blessed with great neighbours.

Forced myself to go get tylenol3 in town pharmacy then went to get the rest of what i needed for a stew, smells yummy

Going to give another try at cleaning craft room, sooo much glitter, trying to do 15 minute intervals asI can hardly move arm, think idid number on that bad shoulder

GiorGia comes at 4, hoping room is clean andI can have early meal.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

I finally found you all.
I don't like the new layout.
I drove to Del Rio, 7 hour trip, Friday. On my way back.to Amarillo now. My old quilting group had thier Christmas party yesterday. It was nice seeing all my friends.
I will catch up later tonight when I get home.

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

Yes, I have good neighbours. Some younger people who still have the "oompf" to do what I get tired doing - shovelling a driveway for 4 vehicles.
Looking forward to Saturday's (Silver Willow) & Sunday's (Camping with New Friends, in Red Deer) Christmas dinners. Still need to get a $10 gift for Saturday. Not much can be bought for a generic present for $10. Sunday's easier - one of my fruitcakes ($25).
7 days to go, to find out if I get the grant for the Robbie Burns dinner. I put up posters, so hopefully I get it. I'll still go ahead whether I get it or not. I'll just have to use my Personal Line of Credit.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Not a good thing to use your pesonal line of credit Susan, so many things can go wrong, ie freed blizzard that shuts everything dow, etc

Calling for more snow, doubtful I’d be able to shovel if we do
Greg just left with enough stew p, hot rolls and chocolate pie to fill them all

Now if only i can find a comfy position to fall asleep

Victoria Harbour, ON

Hope you made it safely home Lindakay

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

Susan, I hope you get your grant. Community activity is a GOOD thing! This will be PARTY with your camping friends, not CAMPING in this weather, right?

Betty, you are so lucky to see your family so often.

Linda, so wonderful to meet up with your friends! My sewing friends are getting together this Saturday afternoon. Then that evening my church is having the Christmas party and the following Saturday another women's group I am in will have their party. I turned down the invitation to Christmas Bingo!
We drove to Spokane (about 2 hours) to get Marie new bras. She feels better in clothes that FIT again. She dropped enough weight that bras no longer fit and I had made all the adjustments to them I could for her.
I spent a lot of yesterday cutting out more of the quilts for the cruise. One instructor finally answered my request for the pattern in advance (I've asked 3 times and she put me off.) NOW she says she doesn't have a printed pattern and to trust the process. RIGHT... so I am paying for a "pattern" she is NOT providing. Marie & I are signed up for a trunk show online this coming Thursday online with this same instructor. We'll see how THAT goes.

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

Pat - yes, our camping friends are getting together for a Christmas end of the year lunch buffet. We're doing a $25 gift exchange, so it's a good thing that I have some fruitcake that I normally sell for $25. No having to shop for a generic gift. We'll be "stealing" gifts, so if someone really wants it, they'll "steal" it. I think I'll take the last 2 I have in case someone wants one.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Morning another night of snow..
was out shovelling at 4:15am and Marie was already out there and had 1/2 done so she finished the back, around my car and garbage binds and pathway to house while I did a front walkway and cleaned front deck, didn’t do it on the weekend so was a good time to do so this morning

Nothing more uncomfortable than a bra that doesn’t fit Pat, I should throw all of m8ne away and then I will be forced to replace them. Are Marie’s specially made? That would be frustrating wanting to be ahead of the same so you can have additional time to relax on the cruise.bet you are getting anxious. Did you have most of the fabric you needed in your stash?

Susan I enjoy the stealing of gifts, so much fun. Have you ever played the Saran Wrap game, thought of making the play “ball” but just don’t know the rules so maybe I will research it.you sure do have a social life lol

Linda Kay bet you are exhausted after your travels, did you check up on your home?

Deb, did you get your pee op tests done?

Dianne, sure wish you would let us know how you and TH are doing

Best I have my bath before the water gets cold, know my shoulder will kill me today.
My goal today

Finish 2 frogs
Find fabric inmy stash to do the bear throw for my godson

I have about 20 gifts to bag or box so would be a plus to do a few

Here is hoping the snow they are calling for in our region misses Maple Street

northeast, IL(Zone 5a)

Went to get pre op blood work done last weekend and the hospital claimed they didn't have the order from my doctor. She gave me the fax number and told me to have them send it again. Called the office, I'll try again on Saturday. It's fasting blood work and I start work too early to go before.

Victoria Harbour, ON

That is a nuisance Deb, would make for one heck of a long day if you had to go after work.Hope Dr.’s office gets requisition form in asap. Are you getting this snow?

I set my alarm and go out and shovel every hour, sky is black so not going to lay up, if the winds comes up watch out as it’s the fluffy stuff.

With being up so early my body is mixed up, just put stew on, mind you didn’t have breakfast, think I will get up and make some cocoanut cream pie pudding except I will put it bowls vs pie crust.

Then I can put eyes on this froggie top, won’t take l9ng to sew a tummy on it then that is 1 of 2 made..have to wait til I go to Midland to buy Iron oats to fill them

Thumbnail by Bettypauze
(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

I got home at 6 last night. My daughter in law had meatloaf and machine and cheese for dinner. I crashed early.
Yes, I checked on my home. Saturday 3 different people looked at the house. Looks like 1 of the offers will go through. I should know by end of the week .

Victoria Harbour, ON

So hoping it does sell Lindakay , do you have all your meals with your son and DIL? Bet puppies were thrilled to see you.

Went to make my pie filling, drats had used most of the bag of milk and not enough to get 3 cups and not going out in this weather. Almost time for next hourly shovel, shoulder done in.

Just got a message that Peighton is com8mg for ger after school lesson at 3:30..drats so wanted night off
Sure hope DG gets the zillion bugs out of the system, hard navigating.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Just when Peighton got here Marie came over to do the shovelling

Peighton left and I went out and did it again, by the time I got to the last area you couldn’t even tell I had done it.

That is it for me for today, i will go out early in a.m.
Calling for several more days like this. Big sigh

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

Yes, I hope Daves Garden gets some of this stuff ironed out. I REALLY don't like having to "find" our forums.
Marie wears a very big bra cup so it's not carried locally and with her weight loss and changing sizes, she REALLY needed to be fitted.
At 8.32 we were notified that the new appliances would be here between 9.00 & 10. I frantically started emptying the frig/freezer and clearing the path.
Then Cameron called & he was coming to install the new drawer support that was faulty from Home Depot.
Meanwhile, Marie has been up with Jenny multiple times during the night with Jenny. Marie is awaiting a call from the vet. Jenny acts like she is constipated. Squats, moves a few more feet, squats & still produces nothing. The vet called back while I am dealing with delivery people. Vet wants to see Jenny this morning at 11.20 to make sure Jenny has not developed colitis.
Now to have Chris, Marie's son pickup our former frig. I need to clean the range, advertise & sell range it. I will research the price today.
All workmen have left... now I get to start transferring food to new frig /freezer.

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

Hope your house sells soon, and well, Linda Kay.
Betty - don't be overdoing it with the shovelling!
Pat - so many changes in your life lately - moving, new appliances, selling appliances, Jenny's problems....... Hopefully things will settle down for you, soon.
Yes, DG has aa lot of changes and too many of them aren't good.
Yes, Betty - I have a social life. It's a good thing. I bought a ticket for the New Year's dinner & evening in the next hamlet. I don't know if many people I know are going, but I want to have some fun anyway.
Saturday our Seniors Society has its Christmas dinner in Olds at the Legion. I have a lot of stuff to prepare for it, including some decorating of the room. We have Santa coming, and I have a Christmas food hamper that's going to be raffled at the dinner.
The furnace at Silver Willow seems to be having problems, because it was cold at the hall. Tomorrow a heating company is coming to look at it. The fan runs but no heat.
Sunday Dianne & I are going to the Camping With New Friends group for our Christmas luncheon.

Morning, snowing and blowing ,everything is closed. Need to call Jules who does the driveway part of the yard to see if his equipment is down. Was out at 4:45am and Marie was out doing her yard, should get winter dressed and go do it again. i could wait but if I do Marie will come over and do it for me and she has enough shovelling she needs not be saddled with mine.

You’ve got a full day for sure Pat, lots of in and outs but you will be thrilled when it’s done..

Hope Susan you schedules some rest t8me 8nthat schedule of yours.p, talk about busy.

Wish the photo’s i posted could better show the depth

Falling asleep here as i am typing, maybe a little nap is in order then outside.

That's a lot of snow Betty. Don't you have a snow blower?
Susan, you have lots on your plate too. Enjoy your time doing it all.
Pat, sounds like your busy too, moving things around to make room for the new.
Betty, yes, I eat all my meals with my son and daughter in law.

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

This is why I do all that I do, because I'm enjoying life more & more all the time. Want to make up for the previous years of negative change. This past year or so has been about positive change - things being arranged the way *I* want to change things. I'm a lot happier this year, especially since I found my "voice" and doing things I want to, rather than the things OTHERS insist I do. Giving up 4 volunteer positions really freed me.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Think I am one of the few braving trying to get on DG from the posts yesterday, think I will give it up as well, just so frustrating.

That it is Lindakay and more to come of same along with strong winds so we will be housebound for a few days.needed a few things so opted to almost pay double in our small Foodland vs going into Midland.

Just finished coffee, pie crust in oven, will wash the upstairs floors then the rest of the day is mine to do as I wish, have no clue what that will be. Guess i could wrap pressies.

Not sure if I mentioned, Johns sister Dian is back from Myrtle Beach as of yesterday, they leave for Scotland Thursday, they are about 10 minutes away from Darlene so picked up another gift for me and delivered it. I always say winter is hard because i have to wear a light sweater hanging off my shoulders so it doesn’t create mega pain, no jacket it the pitz.. Darlene found while shopping a hooded jacket that weighs absolutely nothing, not sure what gives it heat but Lordy it’s a perfect. Can’t wait to spend a day shopping and see how my shoulders react.

Susan, not going to fight trying to find the block thread, just know if there is any way Sharon is go8ng to Buffalo tomorrow and will mail them to Lindakay.

Enjoy your day
