Best/Worst - 2024 Round Robin

Victoria Harbour, ON

Same here will play havoc with people sending a Christmas cards, gifts etc

I have 2 special Christmas quilts/throws, well maybe 3, one I did that was the 12 days of Christmas heirloom quilt, favoured was the snowflake blocks, i know where mine is in the quilt, if you participated can you find yours, most would have same blocks.

I remember doing that swap, but I don't know which block is mine.

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

I didn't take part in that one, sorry. How long ago was it?

Victoria Harbour, ON

Lordy it must be almost a decade or so

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

Maybe I took part, but you only show 9 blocks, not 12..............?!?!?!

Victoria Harbour, ON

That’s what it was and nine block exchange

I made nine blocks kept one for myself and sent the other eight along route as did all the other purchase sentence ended up making a beautiful Quilt size

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

Ok, then I didn't take part. I confused myself re: 12 days of Christmas and seeing 9 blocks lol. Was it a throw quilt, or lap quilt?

Beautiful Linda Kay!
Negotiations between the Union & Canada Post are looking worse. I'm hoping that we can send these blocks within Canada SOON! Frankly, I don't have much belief that this will be solved quickly or easily.

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

Oh well, nothing any of us can do but wait for it to be resolved. When possible, go over border to mail. When I get the rest of the blocks, I'll work on them. Until then... we wait.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Glad you got them Pat, Sharon kept asking

From my end Susan I heard either yesterday the gmt was putting a cease to the strike, an impass, and government checked that get mailed would likely get them before Christmas, will have to researcj

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

Betty - my friend Dianne said the same thing - ending strike on Monday. I looked it up & the laid off workers are getting their jobs back - illegal to lay anyone off during a legal strike. On that, the union is getting their way, but apparently they are further apart in agreements to the demands.
Here's what was posted:
"Canada Postal Strike 2024
As of November 15, 2024, a nationwide strike by the Canadian Union of Postal Workers (CUPW) against Canada Post is ongoing. The strike, which affects approximately 55,000 workers, began after negotiations for a new contract stalled. The union’s demands include:

Wage increases of 24% over four years
A cost-of-living allowance
Better job security
Canada Post has rejected the union’s demands, citing unaffordability and unsustainable costs. The company claims the union’s proposals would add more than $3 billion in expenses over four years, exacerbating its financial struggles. Canada Post has reported seven consecutive annual losses, with a total loss of over $3 billion since 2018.

Key Developments
Federal mediation was attempted but ultimately unsuccessful.
The strike has entered its fourth week, with no end in sight.
Canada Post has reiterated its proposal to create new jobs to support an expansion into weekend delivery, which the union has rejected.
The union has accused Canada Post of trying to undermine its demands and has pushed back on the company’s claims about the financial impact of the union’s proposals.
Impact
Mail services across Canada have been disrupted, with delays and interruptions reported.
The strike has affected not only mail delivery but also parcel services and other postal operations.
Current Status
The strike remains ongoing, with no resolution in sight. The situation continues to evolve, and updates will be provided as more information becomes available."

Linda Kay - as you're sending to Pat, and she sends to me, you can take your time with the centers you have.
It's a shame that Pat can't send to me at the moment, but it will happen.......... eventually lol

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

No, other than those 3 that I sent to Susan, I have NOT received any others. I think there was a misunderstanding Betty.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Oh oh, was I suppose to send the 3 I had to you Pat? Knew I’d screw up, maybe then l8ndakay could send the 3 to you and i will reimburse her.
Thought i had asked where to send them but guess i didn’t

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

No Betty, you will ALWAYS send to Linda K. The ONLY difference is how big the border is that you sew on. You are doing fine.

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

Betty, in the very 1st post on the 1st page, it says who sends to whom (as a reminder). You are always, as Pat said, to send to Linda Kay.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Quote from taters55 :
I feel sorry for those that get their meds through the mail.
Susan, Betty will mail the blocks from you, Pat, Betty and Sharon. Misty and I will get them done quickly, and sent on to Pat.

Think Igot that I was suppose to send to Lindakay from this post

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

Yes Betty, you & Sharon send all the time to Linda Kay & Misty, and they send all the time to Pat. Pat sends all the time to me, and I send all the time to you & Sharon.

It's all good, Betty

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

Now that the Cdn Postal strike is over, how's it going for sending to me, Pat?
No rush, just curious.

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

I already mailed to you everything I had. I have not gotten any more. Linda & her DIL and my own. I have not received any more.

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

ok, I mailed to Betty, and she's sent to Linda Kay. I sent on LK's, Misty's, and Pat's centers with my additions. I've seen what Betty added to Pat's & my centers & she forwarded them on to LK

Well, I'd better get back to Michelle & Lonnie's quilt. I had to take a lot of handstitching out - buckline. It's better now.
I'm taking the time out from coffeetime at Silver Willow, crib & Games Night so not doing any of it until the New Year. I need the break to do stuff at home.
The quilt I donated to Wellness went for the top bid of $150. The woman is considering asking for 2 pillow shams. If she's thinking this is a queen quilt, she's wrong. It's 66" x 67". I'll find out on Tues if she wants the two shams. I have SOME of the fabric, most importantly the center panel x 2. Ah well, it will be similar, but not the same. Some of the fabric came from a Round Robin that the quilt was in.

Back to Michelle & Lonnie's quilt lol

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

We are almost done with the blocks, so sorry, we just got really busy here getting ready for Christmas, then my son from San Antonio calls yesterday to tell us he will be here Tuesday night. So like everyone else, we are scrambling too.

Victoria Harbour, ON

No hurry with Sharon and mine

Been getting regular mail for a few days so guess they have gotten caught yo.

I was thinking of looking for a patter using 5” block, buy it online and sit this afternoon and cut out blocks needed and put a kit together for Sharon, bought her a gift certificate for Shannon's restaurant for Xmas but not same just getting a piece of paper so off onl8ne to see what I can download and cut

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

Linda, I did not mean to sound upset or impatient. I just didn't want to think Susan to think she was expecting blocks from me soon. Depending on when they get here, it might be AFTER I get back from the cruise before they can go out.

We have 16 for Christmas, we've prepred as much as possible and have an easy menu. A ham & box scalloped potatoes so no potatoes to peel & gravy to make etc.
Marie has a small gathering with her BIL & wife, couple of their kids this afternoon.

Our brother & wife had a gorgeous floral arrangement delivered. It looks AWFUL this morning. The florist is going to have to deliver a new one today BEFORE the buyers/brother & wife can see the wilted mess.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Pat, i did think that at all.

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

Pat, I'm just pleased that we have mail service in Canada again! It's SO nice to be getting mail again, even junk mail from the government LOL
The blocks come, when the blocks come. I have other sewing to do (the successful bidder of the quilt does want pillow shams, after all, so I have that to do, after Michelle & Lonnie's quilt is done)

the "best" would be the group or player with the most wins against any remaining members, while "just terrible" would be the group or player with the least wins, basically having the most awful record in the cooperative rivalry

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

I have no idea what that last post is about.

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

nor do I, LK............ gibberish. Maybe it refers to the name of this post "best/worst", but it really doesn't matter, it's gibberish

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

Ah, found the thread. :)

I'll be looking for them and try to get RIGHT on them~

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

it's all good, Pat - whenever they're ready, they're ready.
I'm just tickled pink that we CAN send via mail again :)
