Best/Worst - 2024 Round Robin

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Praying you get one that works Susan.

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

As my old one will do straight sewing after the first attempt of about 6 stitches & then is ok while it's turned on, I'm going to use it until I can go to return the 1st one & get another 2nd hand one, I'll do that today. At least it has a built-in bobbin threader lol

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

I took back the sewing machine to the Thrift Shop, and didn't get my $$ back, I got a store credit ($65). I spent $5 to buy a drill, but now have to spend the rest of the $60 by Oct 31st. Not sure what else I can get there. The one thing they don't sell is clothing (always my downfall lol).
I'll send the block next Tues (free shipping) to Betty. I may still get a new-to-me sewing machine, but not necessary just now when I can straight sew with my old one.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Sorry you couldn't get a refund.
Sending photos of my block and Misty's. They will be on the way soon to Pat.

Thank you Susan.

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

Here's my God's Eye block.
I know that I only left a "scant" seam, so I'm hoping that it's ok, Betty.

It's all packaged up, ready to send on "free shipping Tuesday", Oct 8th, to Betty

Thank you, Betty :) Have you figured out your center yet?

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

I've sent the center to you, Betty - should arrive by Oct 16th.

Ok, iPad with all my info, data won’t charge, apple service says because of it being 3 years old they don’t repair but would give me $60 towards new one..nope rather throw it away. Jeff found a company in Toronto that will have a look but in meantime
I have my old iPad you have to keep plugged in to work but it’s working other than my not getting emails

I have 13% of memory left on my newer one gone on fritz, hit me awhile ago that Kyle set it up, yep he used his password so at least I am on DG

Thanks Melody, a, sure you sent me password but can’t get emails, will try to find someone to set email on this this one til mine is fixed or i get another unit, doubtful it will be apple though

Hope all ok

Watching updates on storm, all so very sad
Praying the loss of life is minimal

Our weather here has been changing over last 10 years, i vow I will try and make my footprint on earth less than I’ve been doing

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

sounds like your wi-fi isn't working, Betty, because you have to plug it in, or it's the battery?

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

Betty - I saw in the other chat that yours & Sharon's centers are on their way to me :) Looking forward to seeing them. Do you have a picture of them for here?

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Pat, Misty and my centers were mailed out today. Supposed to arrive on the 15th i believe.

Betty, Canada Post says my center block has been delivered

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

I got Linda's & her DIL's on Wednesday. I thought ONE of them should have had a round already on it, maybe I don't understand. I did add a 2 inch border to each & mail it out with my block to Susan on Thursday. . They told me it would take 2 weeks to 1 month to be received and cost $18 to mail. Ya, I'm rethinking the whole block swap idea.
the pictures make it hard to see. I added a purple border to the Dresdan plate that was almost a match for some of the blades. The Celtic knot, I found a gray/silver print with deeper gray. The black fabric in that block has silver metalic, really pretty. Mine is a simple red, white and blue.
$18 to mail them and the post office said it would take between 2 weeks and 1 month to be received!

wow 2 weeks to a month? Good thing that some of us are doubling up - Betty & Sharon, Linda Kay & Misty.
Pat, your star is lovely! I'm looking forward to receiving the 3 blocks.
I understand about the block swap. Previously the one I was in, we each made 10, kept one & individually sent out the 9 others. I know that the Post Office in Canada is hurting because a lot of people e-transfer $$ rather than send cheques for bill payments & family events (birthdays, Christmas, etc), and texting rather than snail mailing letters but geeze, the price of mailing is getting so expensive. I was told that the center I sent would have been an oversized letter & cost would be under $3. As more borders get added, it will add to the cost. I hope sending to the US won't take so long. Maybe they're giving a "worst case" scenario. Hope so, Pat.

Our Christmas exchange that we used to do through DG isn't something that I would do again because of the size of the parcels (got lots of wonderful goodies!).
I WOULD do an apron exchange, etc, because only one person was sent to.
Even the tote exchange was good, again because we only sent once, to one person. I have the lovely tote that Janice (LadyDragon??? can't remember her screen name lol) made me. I also got a lovely apron from Jaye. It's reversible, too!

Once this Round Robin is done, we'll follow your lead, Pat, as to what you want to do about a block swap. I'm good with what others want.

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

Pat - instructions had Misty putting the 1st border on Linda Kay's (2"), but I neglected to say who put the 1st border on Misty's lol Guess it could have been Linda Kay.
However, it will all work out - I'll put the 2nd border (3") on each of them, and send them on to Betty for the 4" border. Not to worry, it will all sort out in the end.

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

Yes, Misty & Linda will be putting a big border on rather than the 2 inch one of them would have had. Like you said, it will sort itself off. As long as each of us put the next border on, 1 inch bigger than the prior, it will work out.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

So sorry, I misunderstood the directions.

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

it's all good, Linda Kay :)
Looking forward to getting my 1st block(s) to add to.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Susan, may I ask are you preferring keeping to blue and blacks?
Searching in my stash while I look to blocks

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

Betty - you can also do golds/dark yellows. The blues can be anything you figure fits. I'm not going to direct what I think "fits". That's the fun of this - someone else sees differently what fits with the center. Have fun with it!!

Beautiful block Betty.

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

Really pretty and I look forward to seeing all the borders as they get applied.

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

That's great, Betty! I'm looking forward to adding a border!

Victoria Harbour, ON

It's recycling 1 of 3 I made during one of our other swap blocks, looked through a tote to find left over strips, ended up with about 4 extra inches. Sharon is going to dog show in Buffalo next week, I will give her a piece to see if she can find a few yards

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Betty, if Sharon will be in the us next week, have her mail the blocks then. It will be cheaper and quicker.

Victoria Harbour, ON

She is coming at 1, I will ask her to mail them, great idea, best I get moving
Quieter now that thanksgiving and all my appointments are done.

I have susan’s Block on coffee table, trying to get a brainstorm as to what to do with first border

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

I have confidence that you'll come up with something great, Betty. You have a good creative mind

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Can you post a photo of her block?

Victoria Harbour, ON

Had an attack while Sharon was here, I will post your block next time I get up to shut everything down for the night I've been in bed since 1:45
