My son Clayton says he & son Bruce ARE coming for 2 weeks in February. I am hoping his wife doesn't change her mind. Unless she signs her approval, Bruce can not leave China for the visit. She told Clayton that she has filed the paperwork. I'm afraid to be too confident that it really is going to happen.
Best, Worse, What did I learn today? Come take a chair and chat a bit! newcomers alway welcomed!
Morning, hard to believe it’s still morning, woke at 5am as i wasn’t sure if I would have to shovel or be able to get out for my 7:30am chiropractor appointment. When i went to bed there was a blizzard going on, looked out this morning and the temps had so jumped that it was pouring rain. Getting colder, it’s not sure it wants to turn into freezing rain or snow.
Susan, has Bob been diagnosed with Alzheimers, know you thought he was showing signs though. Nope, no playing in your playpen.
Lordy Pat, that is only 11 days away, you’ve got all well organized so that will help the transition without rushing. Will there be a lot of work scheduled in your new home?
I do hope your son can come, can see though how the mom might be concerned. Too bad she couldn’t come along with them, perhaps sight see and stay elsewhere so she won’t be as worried about his return to China.
Just had coffee break, got the Ninja air cooker out, scanned recipe’s but it seems so big to cook something just for me, smiling as I think those hungry man tv dinners is much simpler.guess i don’t understand the process enough to want to use it.
I have Phoebe coming at 4:30pm, other than that I am free to do something or do nothing. At this point I’m not sure what I might take on.
Hurray, Pat - wouldn't that be great if your son & grandson could come to visit!
Betty, in April 2021 I approached our Dr about him getting tested for dementia, but the Dr only said "Bob won't leave you, not at this age". This was after he literally patted me on the cheek!. May 2023 I asked the court to get him tested for dementia, and they said they can't force him to get treatment HOWEVER, now that he's breached the Peace Bond 3 times, the constable said the judge may give him a couple of days of jail time and/or have him get a mental health check.
It's too cold for my friend to take any of the tools, etc. He'll see about Monday though. It's supposed to warm up. I'll get the bins of clothes out of the shelter though, and take them to a thrift shop.
All so very sad Susan.
Betty, we not sure what we will have done other than close of the space between the 2 car bay & the 3rd. The 3rd will be sealed, insulated, additional electrical outlets and a small heat pump added so we can used that space for the long arm. There is a space off the great room that we going to turn into the sewing room but do not know if we will close it off with French doors. We don't have to decide yet!
That is a great idea Pat,
For entry to my craft room i have a nice 6 pane window door, just pull it to the side and all the mess disappears
I am already in bed and calling it a day
Chiropractor early morning.
Stormy day here
Wasn’t sure I would go for my chiropractor but did, roads were slick, had intended going to far end of Midland, was lots on my list but decided as i was at Walmart I’d get what i absolutely needed and will get what i need next time i am in town.
Said self, look at all the things you can do today lol laying on couch wasn’t one of them. Do any of you get chiro treatment are you suppose end up in pain while the treatments are given?
Of course i bought new liner and shower curtain, just had to put it u, got a 2 step ladder so i would be working my arms above the waist but i did so maybe that is why the pain
As I lay here I see a moondog hidden amongst the clouds,Native Indian weatherman said big big storm comes within 3 days , we will see
What are you all up to?
Betty - I go to a chiropractor & don't feel pain afterwards. If you overdo, then I suppose that's why the pain. You've put something out again.
Pat - the new sewing room idea sounds great :)
on the Bob front..... I called the RCMP & left a message. When he called me back last night they said they couldn't get ahold of him by phone & maybe he changed his #. They're going to arrest Bob & set a court date. They may assign him a lawyer, I don't know. The last time he took 1 1/2 years to get one. On Monday they said he may get a mental health exam, too. I know that if the judge orders it, the mandated anger management counsellor would have to give his assessment to the court.
I'm hand-quilting today (first I have to pin the layers). Doing the 1st of the 5. The rest are ready to have the tops stitched together.
The weather here is terrible It's minus 30 celsius (minus 44c with windchill). That's minus 47F. Lots of snow here. I was supposed to go to a Municipal Development Program tonight, half hour drive away in another town but I'm not. It's too cold and I don't like to be out on the highway at night in the cold, in my older car. It's 18 years old, after all lol I'll stay home & quilt lol

Glad the RCMP Susan are making efforts to get this constant lurking over with. Might be good for Bob to be assessed. At least they would then know should any action have to be taken they would have him in his right mind and not charging someone who is ill.
Yikes, I’m so glad I’m not living where you are, it’s cold but not freezing, i could go out and rake the 2-3 inches of snow that fell from last time, guess it will be coat over nighty.
Took chicken breasts out last night, think I’ll do shake & bake and mashed potatoes which will do me today and tomorrow.
Spoke a half an hour with mom. She fell on Monday night the blanket that Sharon and I bought her that heats up she said was so comfy. She threw it over herself, then got up and forgot that the cord went across the floor tripped in it hit the dresser she’s black and blue, she had just got back from the hospital as they did a scan to make sure she didn’t have a blood bleed and he said had she come that night they would’ve put stitches over her eye, but seeing it was a couple of days old they were just cleaning up and she’s to watch That he gets no infection. She’s a lucky gal one of these days she won’t be so lucky and she’ll break some bones. I told her as one of her concerns is lifting, thought that she boils her food in and then brings it to the sink and then drains it so I told her to leave the pot of veggies and potatoes or whatever she’s cooking. Get one of those big spoons with holes get a bowl and just take out, let pot cool down then empty water… now let’s see if she does it.
Betty - I had chicken tonight, too. I get a 2.5 kg bag containing all the pieces of a whole chicken - breaded with a bit of zing spice. Not much, but very tasty. Costs $31 for the 2.5 kg bag & it lasts me a month, having 1 or 2 pieces at dinner. Do you have Great Canadian Wholesale in your neck of the woods? It's a product by Jane's.
Did your mom drive herself to the hospital? And waited 2 days to go? I'll bet she is very black & blue! She's lucky she didn't break anything.

21°F here this morning, plow just came in to tidy up the drive, i went out last night and shovelled, wasn’t enough snow to bring out that new snowblower.
Susan we do have. Great Canadian Superstore but it’s in Barrie. I don’t eat a lot of chicken so better to buy a few pieces of breasts as that is the only part i like.
Sitting here watching BT Television, iPad says bad storm to hit today so I want to get their weather update.
Enjoying coffee planning out how I will fill my day.
What are your plans
Wonder if it's the storm we're getting here that will head toward you, Betty. We got about 3 inches of snow overnight, supposed to be up to 10 inches total, then temps drop to -3 F on Sunday. Only good thing is my company closed because of the weather, something they never do! Lights have flickered a few times, hope the power stays on, it's windy out, and the house will cool off quickly without power.
We are under a Winter Storm Warning. Deb I think your snow is coming my way. Betty are you expecting this storm? It's hard to believe such a storm is coming as the sun is shining brightly. It's cold out there though.
Deb you have a 'stolen day' as Warren and I used to call it. Enjoy every minute of it.
I've loaded my Kindle with a couple of what I think will be good books based on reading the author's previous novels. So if I am stranded inside I have something to read plus I can work on my latch hook project.
Stay safe and warm everyone. I have everything at the ready if we lose hydro.
Hi all, I'm Jess from NY, and I'm new to having an account here, although I've read a bunch of things on here. I am primarily a dahlia grower, with perennial gardens, but kind of got obsessed with amaryllises this winter. Why did the Hippeastrum/Amaryllis forum die in 2016? There's been nothing posted since 2016, did they go somewhere else to another forum or off of DG?
Hi Dahlialover10, this thread has moved over to another as it got too long, The link is https://davesgarden.com/community/forums/t/1560824/
When Davesgarden changed hands, several of the forum were combined or simply ended. I hope you find a forum that meets your needs. That said, WELCOME! We hope you will join us.
Today, I was thinking about how much I've learned growing Jarrahdale pumpkins. They have this stunning blue-gray skin and sweet, nutty flavor that’s perfect for soups and pies. I found out that they take about 95-110 days to mature, depending on the conditions. When the vine leaves start drying out and the skin feels tough, it’s time to harvest them.
For the best results, use sharp pruning shears and leave a 2-3 inch stem on each pumpkin. After harvesting, just brush off the dirt without washing them. They store well in a cool, dry place for months.
If you’re thinking about growing something unique, Jarrahdale pumpkins are definitely worth a try. They’re easy to manage and look great on the porch. Plus, they’re a tasty addition to your fall recipes!
