Best, Worse, What did I learn today? Come take a chair and chat a bit! newcomers alway welcomed!

Linda Kay - so glad that you've got meds to take care of those infections. They can become serious.
Betty - you talk about ME being beyond busy? I could never keep up with YOU lol
Light show was to be on the 21st, but it wasn't a good day for me. Turned out that it was a good thing I stayed home - that's when it was found out that Randy had passed away, and I had to find another chip runner for casino the next day. Between the news about Randy (sad), my car door handle breaking and Bob's trespassing, I just wanted to stay home & rest up. I didn't do that, but it was nice to stay home anyway.
Last night went to Maureen & Greg's and "grazed" on food lol We played "tens" a card game & I enjoyed the evening thoroughly.
Today I went to the Wellness credit union & have some funds in the account to pay for the casino meals. Still have some stuff to do to have it ready for our fundraising $$ to come in. One thing that people don't understand (I don't either!!) is why the credit union gave us one account #, but split it into a General account & a Casino account. Once we get our funds in February, I'll see about getting 2 different account #s and find out why it was done this way. Maybe it saved money? It was set up in 2009 by someone else.

The house inspection went well, I will call a pro to look at the roof. The inspector found a few minor issues to address. Yes, the house is "near" stores. Just minutes away.
We took measurements and I took a sketch as best I could. You can not imagine how small this "yard" is. I had more when I was in a mobile home park in Boise! That's OK, I likely won't try to change any of the "landscaping" the first year. I did not find any irrigation lines (although there is a water spigot) in the inner circle next to the house but there is an electrical outlet. I will see if I can find a really nice water feature to put there.
We came home and tackled the utility room closet, all 6' x 7' & 30":deep shelves. . I am so proud of Marie, she really dug in & got rid of stuff! I was afraid it was not going to go well. We left less than a 1/3 of what we started with.
Off to take son to orthopedic for his arm. His appt is an hour away.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Morning, milder than yesterday
Mom left with Sharon at 11 to go to Norms garden, i am to sore to go
Took down and wrapped the big tree in 3 sections, a lot of pulling duct tape tight, i did myself in
Going to take some gummies Jeff gave me and hope they dull this pain.its so bad the water is pouring out of me

You’ve known me a long time, think Iwill ever learn?

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

Pat - glad the house inspection went well. There's always something that's not perfect about every home. Glad to hear that you & Marie are working to downsize so you can comfortably fit your combined stuff in the new home. Less thank 1/3 is a GREAT achievement. Is Marie pleased with your choice?
Betty - of course we know you, Miss "do everything myself" lol You really need to slow down so you're not too sore to do fun things & go places.

Victoria Harbour, ON

That is a lot of work behind you Pat and good news about the house and possible repair needs. Now that you got 1/3rd done I’m sure the next bit will be easier on her. Smaller garden, less work right?

Susan, fell asleep and just woke up from dream, so real, Greg and Mel dropped in, we sat at the table and they had lemon meringue pie while talking about my health problems, Mel asked wouldn’t i consider a home? Before they left I asked Greg if he would come to next Tuesdays chiropractor meeting as per the letter i had?? So real

Guess that means i will have to ask Greg to attend as per their suggestion on the 2nd lol

Victoria Harbour, ON

Morning, if this weather keeps up I will be looking for summer clothes to wear.
Light rain, perfect day for me to pick up extension cords for all the outdoor lighting

Seems so much more work that when i put it up.

I marked all the totes and what was in them but what I did wrong was instead of saying “mantle, kitchen, bedroom mantle etc” i should have put them in the totes as being only things i want to take out next year which is minimal

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

Betty, I have had a few of those "so real" dreams. Even when over, it was tough to convince myself it was not real!
Susan, at times Marie gets a little upset about the volume of stuff going out but mostly embarrassed that she has let all this stuff accumulate. I have reminded her she took care of Dad & right after Dad passed; Phil went downhill. She has had her hands FULL. PLUS, she was a schoolteacher! In my experience they save everyting! LOL
Linda, how are you feeling?
Today will be all about getting all the stuff we have already culled OUT of the house and donated to the various people and organizations that will benefit. We collected a box of dog treats (MANY different kinds, opened and not finished), dog harnesses and leashes, even a few bark collars. She has NEVER used a bark collar on this dog or the one before so who knows where they came from! I'll make all the pits stops while Marie is home taking the decorations off the tree & all the other decorations put away. We need to move on to the living room repair post sewing room/ return to real living room complete with new paint & carpet. We would have liked to leave Christmas up longer, but we need the room to bring in the stuff that is currently in the sewing room.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Pat Just so nice hearing you pleased with what you are accomplishing,Lordy you’ve come a long way, lots of work and changes in this past year.

Lindakay, have the meds started to work? Hope so..

I would say i am on a very thin line, overdoing or quitting so decided to quit for the day.kept last 2 days telling myself walking floors could wait until mom left but i just couldn’t, no sooner did she go for a visit to a Sharon’s that i got my mop out, cannot stand a dirty floor, am now on the couch with Ziggy laying on pillows watching me, sometimes think he is saying ‘give up?’

I wasn't planning on having Games Night tonight at the Senior Centre, but 3 others said "yes", so I will open up for games.
Pat - that's always the way. When your hands are FULL, you can only do so much. Congratulations to the both of you for clearing & downsizing.
Betty - having him with you at the chiropractors seems like a good idea.

Has anyone here watched Christmas music lyrics on YouTube? SO funny. People who don't have a grasp on English language putting the lyrics up. Example - God Rest You Merry Gentlemen - did you realize that the "cattle feed on him" (meaning the baby Jesus)? Should be "they found him in a manger, where cattle feed on hay" LMAO They have so many mistakes that it makes me wonder, AND laugh.

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

I took a needed nap this afternoon. I hope it doesn't mess up my sleep tonight!

I bought my first items for the new house;- a handheld shower head. Marie has a curved shower rod so I didn't have to buy that. I also bought a stainless steel 1/2 circle garbage can for the kitchen, it was on sale at Costco. We are looking at area rugs and a statement art piece for over the fireplace. It's a challenge! Our tastes are different but we are committed to finding something we BOTH like.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Morning, but not for long

Pat, when is closing? How much fun you will have looking to decorate some of the rooms. Will you be on same floor as Marie or it’s possible to each have your own space?

Drats Susan, did you have to stay and close up? I just love Christmas lyrics, guess i don’t spend time to take in the words.

I was out very early this morning and froze however it has warmed up enough that poor young Evan who came to put the bins away didn’t freeze to death. I am so happy to have that behind me, 90% will NOT come out next year i can guarantee you.

Mom left at 10:30a.m., she honestly was no trouble but I love being just me, once Evan and mom left I got back into my nighty and as I lay on the couch the sun is now shinning through, could lose my eyes and pretend i am on a beach.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Meds aren't working yet. I have an appointment with family doctor Monday.

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

Hope the meds work soon, Linda Kay. You have an appointment on New Year's Day?
Betty - it is nice to have a home to yourself, isn't it :) Rest well. It's 0c here now, and it's been really nice out. It's only 1pm, so will warm up.
Yes, Pat, when's the closing on the house?
I slept until 12:15pm! Guess I needed the sleep. Never catch up, but I do feel better. Yesterday I got woken up at 11am by Dianne dropping by. I got dressed & made coffee for us. People are telling me that they've started to take down the Christmas decorations. When does everyone here undecorate? I'll have to haul the boxes in from the shed. Not my favourite work day, but there are very few days that I have the whole day at home.... so, maybe I should get to it. Thinking about it.

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

We used to tease Marie that if she didn't get a move on she would have to change the decorations on the tree to Valentines. NOT this year. We needed to get everything down so we could move the furniture from the sewing room/ new living room out to the family room to get the wall repair, painting & new carpet put in. All the undecorating is not quite done yet.

I used to put my tree up the weekend of our Thanksgiving & take the tree down the day after Christmas because those were the days I knew I would have time to do it!

the house is scheduled to close 1/21.

Victoria Harbour, ON

I’m with susan Lindakay, rare you can get an appointment on weekend let alone New Year’s Day, could they not have written a stronger script for you. Has it entered your lungs??

Joanne and Henri came for a visit this afternoon which was really nice, her son and his fiancé just left for BC, he will spend 2 days with Chasey & new baby Mason on Vancouver island then back to Australia. Difficult parting when your kids lives i far away.

Hmmm, New Year’s Day has reminded me i best get out and get Greg a birthday gift, no clue as to what get.

Thumbnail by Bettypauze
(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Sorry, that should have said Wed. Not Monday.
Yes, the congestion has gone to my chest. Lots of coughing.
We used to put our decorations up day after Thanksgiving, and take them down, day after new years.

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

Linda Kay - lots of rest & liquids, as my mom used to say. Ok, Wednesday then.
Then I'd be putting them up in Oct - not happening for this Canuck lol
Betty - how nice that they could visit, even though not for very long. Tears at the heart strings to be so far away.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Clear but colder today, was nice getting up to the quietness of the house this morning.

We must have cross posted Pat, January 21st, not a wonder you are now on the run, 3 weeks will come quickly.will you have a moving company do the main move? Are there still viewings on your home? Did you get feedback from your realtor?

Lindakay, Wednesday can’t come quick enough I bet. Hope the meds you have are helping somewhat. Where did i hear just in last couple of days that they put a peeled onion on the pillow and it helped greatly, that and whiskey, brown sugar honey in a mug then add boiling water and drink as hot as you can. Wish i had written down old remedies my grandmother and her grandmother had.

Susan, you must know the feeling of living so far away from your family.

Dianne, likely you are not using upas much wood as you normally are? How are the TH doing? With weather just a bit colder the fog is no longer, guess you can go for more walks with them if you are now up to it.

Everything looks bare here and more to my liking. I am curling my hair and Ziggy I think is wondering where Bella went.

My goal today isn’t much in comparison to Pat but still enough. I picked my ‘to do’ slip this morning and it is wash floors in basement, i might add trying to take light off the 4 outdoor trees and get electrical cords off the ground. If I got that down I’d be more than thrilled with my day but if it doesn’t I’ve accomplished so much this past 3-4 days that it won’t matter.

Waving to those reading but too busy to post

An early Happy New Year to you all. Nothing planned here. I'll be in bed early just to read.

Frank had picked me up to go get fish and chips at The Cove in Westport. Delicious!! On the way home he was sneezing. He called me yesterday to tell me he had covid. I feel fine but he was concerned I didn't have my shots. He was fully covered with both flu and covid shots. I didn't get the shots as I react so badly to them. I wear a mask when I go into the village which is usually once a week.

I find it interesting to see where and when you all take down and put up your Christmas decorations.

A Rotti breeder called me to see if I would take on an unruly male pup - no one wanted him. I didn't say but I didn't say no. I'll think on it.

Betty I let the wood stove die out when it was really warm over Christmas and Boxing days. The house had a really damp feeling so I started it up again.

Think I will have a nap - this waking up at 3 is a pain.

Stay safe and well.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Happy New Years Eve everyone!

Dianne, it has been damp, affects me more than severe cold, old bones can’t take it but a nice heating blanket helps make everything right 😜

Nothing like goldfish and chips mega vinegar for me. Wonderful you got out but Lordy hope you don’t get Covid, has enough days passed since your outing that it’s unlikely?

Which way are you leaning about adding a puppy to the TH mix? how would Zeke and Chaos adjust?

Did sweep downstairs but didn’t wash the floors, maybe later.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Praying you don't get covid Dianne.

Happy New Year everyone. I will most likely be in bed as well.

Victoria Harbour, ON

How are you feeling this evening Lindakay?a

In bed watching movies since this afternoon, thought I’d drop in with a Happy New Year.

Greg turns 55 tomorrow, 33 years since Roger’s death as well, always mixed emotions.

Can’t get any quieter for Jeff, he headed for the forest and set up camp for the night

Been watching fireworks from across the street, just ended so maybe I will get some shut eye

I got an offer on my house today! We are finalizing the negotiations and will schedule the inspection. We are plugging along with getting Marie's house ready.

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

HURRAY, and Happy New Year, Pat!!! What a way to bring in the New Year, eh?

Happy New Year to one & all :)

Pat, will it be a short closing period?

We expect 1/31, not bad.

Las Vegas, NV(Zone 9a)

I am finally here the first day of the year and looking back on 2023. I had a pretty good year some of you on here. Had some pretty horrendous things happen and I pray for all of you that 2024 will be a wonderful year.

Pat, that is great news about your house being sold and close of escrow to be on January 31. Everything is coming together for you and Marie what a way to start the new year.

Linda, I hope you're lungs are getting clear and you're feeling better. My family has had colds go through the whole family and so far I have avoided it I do take zinc and two other strange things they suggested when Covid was running around, but I also don't go too many places. I am looking forward to hearing that your home is sold and closed so you can move on also.

Susan, 2023 was a doozy for you, but 2024 is going to be wonderful. Especially without Bob.

Diane that new puppy would be so lucky if he moved into your family but that is also a lot for you to take on so I am waiting your decision. Your fish and chips sounded wonderful. That was one of Vern's favorite dishes.

Betty. I am so praying that this new doctor will help with your pain. My sister has a very bad neck pain and they've tried everything and now they're going to give her a epidural shot in her neck. Looks from the weather. I'm getting from your area, you were on my weather report, you are having a very mild winter. We have had beautiful days today we had no clouds I 59 and it was just lovely. I kind of laugh when I saw everything you had to put away, the only thing I had to put away was the two things somebody purchased for me that were decorations and I placed them in the kitchen when I received them they were put away today. My daughter spent two full days on decorating her home seems hard to believe that our children are getting that old, my daughter will be 63 tomorrow. I finally looked up how I could dictate the comments on here because the arthritis in my left index finger is starting to bother me. I have a dermatologist appointment tomorrow, but will be gardening Wednesday and Thursday if the weather stays. I loved looking at all of your beautiful Christmas decorations throughout your home.

We had a lovely family dinner last night and the grandson. Who is just back from his mission heads off to BYU Idaho Friday. The other grandson. who has been back from his mission from Florida for over two years announce last night at dinner that he and his girlfriend of over a year will be getting married sometime in December of this year.

They have finally started rebuilding Brian's condo units so he will probably only be here another year. Should be interesting. The homeless moved in and destroyed the whole inside of all the units so there's gonna be a battle with the insurance to see who pays what. Brian just turned 59.

All is well. Hugs to all of you.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Still really congested. Just waiting for my appointment Wed. Going to call in the morning to see if I can get in sooner.
Pat, congratulations on your house selling.

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

The buyer has accepted my counter offer and now to get an inspection.

Marie submitted her proposal of repairs she is requesting based on the inspection of the house she is buying, now to wait for. 3 days deadline.... So we are both moving forward.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Brrrr it’s a cold one

Yes Sharon it’s been a Horrific time for many and 2023 won’t be missed.

Lindakay, I sure hope they can move up your appointment up, horrible to feel so unwell and know a script could make things better and put you on road of recovery.

As i woke this morning Pat my thoughts went to you and thought of a juggler, so many things on your plate but FINALLY it’s coming full circle, I am so excited for you and Marie. Will you now be closer to or further away from family? The way time is passing in no time you will be saying ‘tomorrow I move’

Sharon, has it been 3 years since Brian has been staying with you? I am sure he is more than comfy but will be excited to be in his own home. Starting new at 59 wont be easy. Dictating works well, i always forget about it, should try as well and see if all those i’s that get typed that turn int’s that i have to keep correcting. We don’t always feel, other than our bodies telling us, that we are in the elderly group, then to think our kids are nearing seniors, mind boggling. Greg turned 55 yesterday. How lovely that will be, December wedding, congratulations to them both. Epidural? Wonder how much difference there is in the med they inject? I go for my injections tomorrow morning and will ask.

Deb, how are you and the dogs doing? Is your weather as crazy as ours are?
Sharon had 3 does spoken for and deposits on all, the lady from New Brunswick rubbed her the wrong way, she wanted the male that was already spoken for, told Sharon she would give her $1,000 more if she told the lady she had made an error and would she take a female? Sharon emailed her 10 minutes later and said to look at her bank account, the deposit was returned.she thought someone who felt entitled because she has $$$ didn’t deserve her dog.

With getting all my work done yesterday I do not have a long list of to do’s so I think I will bring up the tote with the seasonal pillow inserts and play with it.

I have never seen a chiropractor before now so don’t know what more they could do that the doctors and tests have done and shown, they are not really seen as doctors, can’t prescribe so i guess they suggest exercises of sorts, guess I will find out tonight.

Going to walk around and see if I’ve any bits and pieces I can wash so I can test if my dryer I fixed works lol

Victoria Harbour, ON

Susan, are you well rested now, quiet week ahead?

Boy in the middle

Thumbnail by Bettypauze
(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Betty, if you get a good chiropractor, he can adjust and realign joints that are out of place. I have seen chiropractor for more than 25 years. He helped me avoid several surgeries. You will most likely be asked to come back several times the next week or two, but once he gets you lined up, then you just need routine adjustments to keep it straight.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Hope this is so Lindakay.

Were you able to get your appointment earlier.

Darn, last Christmas Greg and Melanie got my an electric throw, was so comfy, wouldn’t you know it went on the fritz. I bought one for mom for Christmas, hope hers last longer than mine did.

Wonder if I opened it up a tad I might see a loosened connection!

Usually not far from thinking about going to bed at this time and here I am waiting til 5:30 to head into town earlier but decided what shopping needs to be done can be done in the morning before or after my injections

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

I'll bet the New Brunswick lady is stunned that her $$$ didn't get her what she wanted!! She got her deposit back!!!! I would love to be a fly on the wall when she gets THAT information!!

My Ex was a chiropractor, he was a much better doctor than he ever was husband or father. There are as many different treatments and techniques as there are chiropractors. I am praying you find the right one for you Betty.

Sold and closed are not the same thing. Of course we all hope "sold" becomes "closed" and it's all wrapped up.

Sharon, I hope Brian doesn't decide he likes it BETTER with you than on his own!!! He has had LOTS of time to become accustomed to all the perks of sharing your home. You might want to start talking up all the perks of his living alone again and that you are looking forward to it too
.
Linda, Wednesday is tomorrow.... hang in there!

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

"sold" and "closed" I thought were the same. What's the difference?

Betty - I went for my last follow-up on my new hearing aids, and while I was in town I went to the pharmacist to get more cough syrup because my cold has gone into my chest. They recomended seeing the Dr. Happened to be a cancellation, so I went in. Verdict - not pneumonia (I knew it wasn't, it's bronchitis). Dr sent the script over, & I went to get it. I was there from 10:30 to 12:15 and it hadn't arrived at the pharmacy, so I went to the Dr's office & got the hard copy. It was 1:20 before I got the puffer & antibiotics. Sick person, waiting for technical difficulties, and it was easier to drive to the Dr's office & hand deliver it to the pharmacy. I've been having splitting headaches since the 26th, every day. I guess the stresses of the 21st, then working 4 shifts at the casino on the 23 & 24 ran me down, and I had no resistance.
Yesterday I cooked a turkey dinner & Dianne joined me. I'd also taken down all the decorations & tree & packed them all up. Still in the den, haven't taken them to the shed yet. I suppose I over-did it (shades of BETTY!) and was ripe to get sick.
Having hot drinks & soup, plus the meds. Hope it helps soon.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Hope you are feeling better soon Susan.
I did see the doctor this afternoon. I have the same thing..sinus infection as well as bronchitis. CVS pharmacy must be busy, as my script for amoxacillan still isn't ready. I will try in the morning.

Las Vegas, NV(Zone 9a)

I am here and it's already 8 o'clock here in the southwest desert of Nevada went over to my daughters today for her 63rd birthday. I had my granddaughter in Scottsdale pick up a cake and fresh fruit for the two little ones so they got cake the same time their grandma got a cake and that was a big hit.

I went to the dermatologist this afternoon, and he looked at my back where he cut out of chunk. set all looked well and then he used some nitrogen on a few spots on my forehead. Couple of my hands. Couple of my arms said I'll see you in six months and happy new year. I am doing the 12 1212 get rid of 12 things donate 12 things and put 12 things where they belong, we'll see how long that last. We're supposed to get rain tomorrow and I was going to garden tomorrow so I will work on my 12 1212 tomorrow and garden on Thursday.

Yes Betty Brian has become very comfortable here and there's always food in the fridge. He has no bills to pay. Occasionally he complains that I do not have ESPN on my TV and I told him if he wanted it, he could order it and pay the extra that was the last time I heard about that, then a couple weeks ago he told me he needed tires on his car and I told him I thought he could probably get a pretty good deal at Costco. Haven't heard more about that either. He would stay here forever if he could but that's not gonna happen

Susan, sold means your property has a contract on it and people are interested in buying it. Close means all conditions have been met. Financing have approvals have been granted if there is financing involved, and the deed has been transferred to the new owners. When you get your check in your hand, you usually know it's closed.

Linda, I'm glad you're feeling a little bit better and hopefully the new beds will kick it in the butt. My grandson law that works here in the ER said there are a lot of people younger than me coming in with a really bad long problems because of this cold going around so please be careful.

Betty, Sharon's pups are beautiful. And good for her with the woman who waned hr o be unethical. I ran to a few of those Wallen business doing mortgages, and I just basically stood up and walked out of my office very nicely. One was a gentleman who said he lived in North Las Vegas, which is a cheaper part of town in Las Vegas, and had tax return so he made over $300,000 a year building yachts, I basically told him that nobody in Las Vegas built yachts, I had been here since 1960 and just about everyone and every business and I think he was in the wrong place to be asking for mortgage he needed to go somewhere else. About 12 months later the FBI came to my office, handed me the loan application I filled out by hand, which I handed to the borrower when he left, which saved me a whole bunch of reporting, and wanted to know about that application. I told him I had turned him down. He was trying to buy a four Plex and I knew his income was bogus. Then the FBI asked me why I knew it was bogus and would I know why the other company did a mortgage loan on him I explained to him about knowing the area I did mortgages in and that it was a last place you would be building yachts. And as far as the other mortgage banker, you would have to ask them.

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

Betty - just saw your post about the entitlement. Wrong-o............ $$ doesn't equal entitlement.Glad that Sharon returned the funds. She's ethical, not the money'd woman, that's for sure.
Linda Kay - sorry to hear that you're sick. Bronchitis I know, but a sinus infection is nasty. Hope you feel better soon. I'm taking Azithromycin and a puffer.
I've been feeding Dave & Linda's cat Digby (previous neighbours, who want him back).Naomi (Bob's girlfriend) had taken him in & caged him, as well as caging her 2 dogs & her budgies (of course lol), but Digby got away and has been coming around here. I feel sorry for him, and Dave & Linda. They want to sneak him into their apartment. It's up to them. I know they'll be coming by, because they're going to buy my compressor, and they love Digby.

I've been without internet access all day yesterday. The joys of living in a rural area.

I am fine. Frank didn't pass it

Have things to do so will BBL to read and catchup.

Those puppies are so cute! Glad Sharon put that woman in her place. These are her babies, she gets to decide which puppy goes where.
