So glad to hear he's doing better today. I hope you get a chance to get some rest, though.
Best, Worse & what did I learn today?come sit and chat for awhile..newcomers always welcome!
You must be exhausted, glad to hear Todd is better. So wish they could keep him in San Antonio hospital till they find all that is wrong and get him all fixed up as the little ones would say
Prayers continuing
Freezing rain
I'm glad you could get all your stuff & had the good sense to do so. It will make the stay there less stressful. I am glad to hear Todd is feeling better.
How far is your son from hospital Lindakay? How is Todd doing today
Wicked wind/rain out there
so happy to hear that Todd's doing better. I'm praying that they keep him there until they find out what's wrong. Linda Kay - are you using a geri-chair to sleep in, or do they have a cot for you? Those geri-chairs can be quite comfortable.
Checking in with prayers
Walt and I are doing fine. Send all your hugs and prayers for Linda and Todd.
My son is30 minutes away. They can only treat him for what he was brought in for. The coma and heart attack. The cancer is a completely set of different doctors and needs to be scheduled as soon as he is stable.
I am scared to death, as I think we all know that when cancer starts spreading, it's not good news. The tumor in his liver is 18 cm. The one in his kidney is 5cm. Others cyst are in his spleen, and pancreas. Cancer doctors want to start him out with strong Chem to try and shrink the tumors. Then they will do biopsies on the cyst to see exactly what they are.
Susan, these recliners in the room are very comfortable. Todd has asked me to stay with him, I sleep in the recliner.
Not a wonder you are scarred to death Lindakay, , brings many a memory back for some of us. And so we are here praying for miracles. Take time to look afte you please.
Morning, wicked out there, snow has stopped for now but am sure not for long, perhaps this is the “in like a lion” as April is only a few days away.
Of course my morning thoughts are on all of you, seems we all need arm wraps and prayers.
Will check back in soon
Linda, of course if at all possible stay with Todd. Every second is precious. I do hope the drs. get their heads out of where ever they are stuck and start treating Todd. He needs all the help he can get. Many, many hugs to you my friend.
I'll wait until you tell me to send the fabric, you are dealing with enough right now.
Before starting to do anything thought I’d check in..so wish I lived closer so I could maybe do something to help out, but I’ve prayers, mega prayers for all.
Back from town, haven’t treated myself to unnecessary item since before Covid
.
Got my picture canvas, will look lovely when above the bed, an outdoor rug for back sun room, soon winter cover will be off and I want a new look, a couple of fire alarms, Lordy, not cheap, seed packets and more seed packets, a beautiful fake greenery plant, looks so nice in its white dish, costly but looks real, might find it’s home on front deck, tools for my seed startup and of course the regular groceries, much more than I usually buy but I was in no hurry so it got me in trouble. Will have lunch then off to plant seeds.
Hang in there Linda. Be sure to eat as healthy as possible & take some breaks from the room. You need to take care of you. Praying for you both.
Karen, I am happy to hear you & Walt are on a good road to recovery.
Buying seeds is money well spent for most people. It is effort in filiality for me! I bought ONE packet, and I would not put money on getting that ONE planted!!! LOL
Oh Betty, those will be beautiful when they start blooming. Even the vegetables have pretty blooms.
Thank you Karen. I don't know when we will be home. I will let you know.
He was developing a bedsore on his backside, so they gave me some special cream, and brought in an aired for him. 10 minutes later he was snoring.
Thank you all very much for the thoughts and prayers. They appreciated very much.
Glad there was salve to take the soreness away and that Todd is sleeping. Do hope you nap at same time. Are you leaving the hospital at all?
Sure hope Pat this isn’t a wasted venture because there is mega $$$ invested by me and Darlene/John.
I was all hung ho to get the containers planted and Greg/Mel and Grayson came for a visit which is far more fun, looked like Grayson was feverish before leaving but could be his playing around..he lives the little waterfall on bench, there was water all over lol
I did forget a watering can today but am wondering is spritzing would be as good, maybe someone here would know..i will say one thing, a couple of packets had 12 seeds in them, tiny little things.put 2 per 4” container.. not sure I will go back and finish planting..always tomorrow..
If I do go downstairs think I will do packets that have big seeds so I don’t drop them before planting.
As always you are all in my prayers
Betty, go on to Goggle and ask them how to grow plants from seeds. They will have many U tube videos to watch. You should do that before you start the seed. The soil should be moist but not to moist. Some seeds you can start within a moist paper towel and then transplant. Some seeds do better if you soak them. Some do better if you nick them. You also need a light fan in the room with your garden system, so when the plants come up, the slight breeze will help strengthen the stems. I have seed warming pads under mine that help the seeds to germinate. Also plastic covers.
Linda, I am relieved that Todd is at the hospital but spots in that many areas is worrisome. But it is wonderful that you are able to be in the room with Todd. That way you are aware what is going on. I am so pleased your son is close by.
Karen, sounds like Walt is doing good. And you know to take care of yourself.
Pat, buying seeds is one thing. Getting them in the ground is another. How is Marie's DH doing?
Betty, I can see you are so ready for Spring. After this week of cold weather, we will probably warm up. Jet stream moved South and brought us a bunch of your cold weather. You can have it back. i am planting my store bought tomato plants this week. But I have not purchased them yet. But garden bed is ready.
I did not go to daughter's home for dinner tonight. Great-grandbabies have colds along with their father. So I am staying away. I have another ham shank out of the freezer and I am making a pot of pinto beans tomorrow.
Just lost LONG post (thank you Stanley). Short version, Phil was told by his son Chris if he wanted to be able to go home he had better work his A$$ off in rehab and EAT. I hear that Phil is doing that now! Even drinking the Ensure that he refused before.
GOOD FOR PHIL'S SON!!! About time Phil does what he needs to, to go home. Guess he needed to be told by a man, to "man-up" lol
Morning, dull day, inclement weather on its way… a lot of snow has already been washed away so imagine by next weekend most will be gone unless more snow falls.
Hope you and Todd were able to get some rest last night and today a better day..prayers
Karen how are things with you and Walt?
Thanks Sharon, being doing all of those things..so much time looking at videos, one said, just have fun and learn. What type of tomatoes do you plant.i have an area around the side of back shed that could be tilled, will check how much to rent a gas tiller and have it tilled if not all root bound and let Marie and Ted make a little garden, would work as I would spite some eats. Schools around here are having outbreaks not of Covid but worse fly/cold ever..Linda had had it for a week and says worse ever, especially the headaches so you are wise to stay home and visit another day. Bet your gardens right now are looking so fresh and ready to bloom.
Pat, glad Phil’s son spoke up, hope his listening lasts..is Marie getting some well deserved rest..
Checking in in on Dianne/Deb
Haven’t heard from Sharon’s son Brian, said he would be here today and tomorrow, coming from city and one never knows if he does what he says..hate inconsiderate people who make plans but don’t confirm and leave people wondering..makes me think my time isn’t worth anything.
Several projects i would like to do but things if Brian comes I will be doing for nothing.
Betty, I agree with you there!! I have gotten so I call myself and confirm on "the unreliable". I hate staying home or not registering for a class because company is scheduled for then & they don't show up.
Erin went home early this morning, her brother Chris took her the airport on his way to work. Marie & I have a "preplanning" appointment with a funeral home for later this week. I will finish off my own plans as well. Phil's care plan team meets Thursday and Marie has asked me to go with her. She feels like her retention and understanding of some of this stuff is compromised. Haircuts and our weight loss meeting on Friday. Somewhere in there I need to do laundry.
I've heard that "RSV" has been really bad this year. https://www.cdc.gov/rsv/about/symptoms.html
Glad you will be with Marie, she will feel more able to cope, not t “to do” one wants to do alone, sooo glad you have each other.spent 2 hrs outside with Marie picking up limbs and burning what was in the fire pit..barely any wind, we sat and chatted.. shoulders are paining so it’s ready time until sewing class at 3:30.
I decided to call Dr.Jones, be proactive to see if she was accepting me as a client, never got referral.
Called my Dr’s office after I got email from Dr.Jones office, asked my doctor’s nurse if she could send referral again, she said no, she wasn’t a doctor and would have the doctor call me Wednesday night.
Guess he will be mad i called Re appt for my injections
LET him be mad - it's your health you're concerned about, not his!
Hope Dr Jones will accept you as a patient.
gosh, RSV sounds serious in infants & older adults! I don't know of anyone with this, but thanks for the heads-up.
I have heard of a few people here that got RSV and it REALLY knocked them for a loop. They said it was worse than when they got Covid.
Betty, NEVER be apologetic for following up on your own health care. The professionals are overwhelmed and not always as diligent as they should be. YOU are the one in pain & in charge of your own health.
.
I am going to have to have just liquids..minute I eat anything pain in chest, food feels like it wants to come back up..been like that since January, my notes say Jan 20th I mentioned it to doc, he said in 2018 scope showed hiatus hernia… grrr
Turned out to be nice day but tonight i can’t warm up so up to get wool sock lol
Hope today was a good day
Pyarers for all
Debbie gets her surgery tomorrow morning at 9
You had a class today didn't you? I hope it went well. Are you considering hernia surgery?
Update on Todd.
Angiogram shows all.if his arteries are at least 70% blocked. If he does surgery, hevwill be on blood thinners all his life.
Chemo can't be done if he is on blood thinners. Both doctors will get together to see what can be done.
I should know more tomorrow.
Sorry to hear your news on Todd, Lindakay. Would be a difficult surgery for h8m to undergo being so I’ll.not the greatest of reports for you..prayers for miracles.
Pat, will have surgery on the hernia near belly button this spring so no attention being given to scope to see how much larger the hiatus hernia seen in scope 2018 7ntil that is done..
I must be confusing you all with all my doctor rankings..
That is such a tough call Linda K. You both continue to be in my prayers.
Thank you everyone.
It's been rough here the past few days. So much to process.
Know where you are coming from, all situations are different and yet similar…hardest time of you life I would say..our prayers go with you.
Before Covid started I had Sharon’s son come and chip rock the laundry room and 8n stall the toilet//vanity..we never got to ceiling. Brian is here, glad much of the materials were already purchased, big saving..one has to be a genius to work in a room that people did plumbing and hydro at such a mishap way, but anything is better than nothing.
I have a lot of little things need fixing as well so here is hoping he will not rush back to city before getting them all done. Or I run out of $$$ lol
It's getting there Betty! One piece of sheetrock at a time.
Linda K. when there is "A Lot wrong" sometimes compromises have to be made. I am sure Todd's doctors will discuss the options, the risks and their opinion on what is the best/safest route to choose. When you & Todd decide the course of action, go forward with faith. Ultimately it IS you & Todd's decision although sometimes the doctors seem to forget that.
How true you are Pat,
my tummy is just churning thinking of the decisions you and Todd have to make Lindakay..
Well ceiling is done, wish who did plumbing before me had thought out what they were doing but it’s nice and clean, all that matters. I will wash flowers and finish cleaning in the morning after I hit Home Depot, had hoped to go tonight but no can do, think I will have hot bath, cover myself with pain meds and relax. Am sure Brian having to take down and put back up all the cupboards he will be sore tonight as well!
Marie and Bill are coming in the morning, she is dropping off boxes of fabric so set my alarm for 6am, as you know I do better early in the morning.
Waiting to see what tomorrow will bring. Walt is having Afib. Dr is talking he might need pacemaker. When I got there Walt was telling me he had a panic attack but Dr. said it was Afib. He ate a little bit today but not nearly enough. 4 or 5 bites a meal seems to be his limit. I'm fearing our anniversary will be spent there too.
All is well here. I wish I could say the same for you guys.
Karen, Vern had Afib and it was an out patient surgery to input the pace maker. I pray it is something simple they can take care of for Walt and you. If you have to spend your anniversary there, I hope they bring out the frills for you two.
Linda, Todd is facing many troubles and hopefully you two will find some medical help that seem to care. You are nightly in my prayers.
Betty, that looked like quite a project. Looks much better. Spring is just around the corner. Have you thought of just buying large 3 cubic ft of soil and split them down the middle. This is after you have laid them where you want to plant. Put about 4and you will have plenty of soil and room to plant some vegs. That way you would not need to dig the roots.
Love to you all. I am just so worried for all of you. Please get well.
Sharon I saw where one family of non-gardeners just bought bags of garden soil, cut round holes and planted directly into the bags. They had some vent holes in the bottom for drainage. Guess it worked for them, lol.
Karen, Ben was in Afib multiple times and could not seem to get a regular heart beat but they never did a pacemaker. I don't know what the deciding factor is.
I hope all is well with you Susan.
Marie & I went to a funeral pre-planning appointment this afternoon. We hope to get all the details worked out for all 3 of us (Phil, Marie & myself). I will get mine prepaid and let my kids know that it is handled.
I went to my first chair yoga class tonight. I enjoyed it but boy did my shoulders grind the whole time!
Thank you for the reassurance. These are things I know nothing about. I'm just hoping they can get him moved out of the ICU. I feel that will be the biggest step up for him. My worry is he is so lacking in strength. Hoping the blood they gave him will help there. I told him to knock it off, the low hemoglobin is my gig.
Sorry to hear about Walt, Karen. Keeping you both in our prayers.
Betty, always seems likecwe all have some sort of home project to do, and like cleaning the fabric room. It gets messy before it gets clean.
All doctors got together yesterday. Told Todd bluntly what his options were. They can do heart surgery, and will be on thinners, and while on thinners you can't have chemo. Or you can not do the heart and try for chemo. But before chemo can start, we have to get his hemoglobin up, and he needs physical therapy ASAP to get strong enough by June. If that doesn't happen, chemo can't happen.
Was also told he can go home possibly today, but not to our home, as I am not physically capable of picking him up if he falls. So it was go to a rehab or move in either family members for help. So Todd decided for us t move to Amarillo with my oldest son.
