oh Linda Kay - you'll be waiting a LONG time to see it. I can take pictures of the blocks I have finished, but the others will have to wait. Probably start it in earnest in the new year. I've just gotten to the point where I look how I pieced in 2009 and not pleased with my work. I am a lot more precise now, that's for sure. Not perfect even yet lol
I found the magazine that I picture from to do that quilt I finished last spring. The date on it is Winter 1983 lol Remember this one? Here's the picture that got me to buy the magazine, and here's the article "I know who the witches were..." - no directions at all lol
I'm getting better at finishing things, but right now I have a lot of "irons in the fire".

Afternoon

One step forward and two back. Grrr
Sooo glad tomorrow is injection day, now if it can only help

Susan, sounds nice, best of all you have what you need to finish it

Ohh carolling, don’t know if the group with Greg/Mel are doing it this year, i will have to ask. Enjoy seeing everyone excited to see you all.

Storm brewing, major snow storms, will they hit you Susan?

Lindakay, how are Todd and you doing?

Victoria Harbour, ON

Lindakay, watching cnn, warnings Re tornadoes in Texas, La etc.
Keep safe

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Loved that article Susan.
Betty, we are doing ok. He is down to 133 pounds. Appointment got moved to January 18th. So one more month to wait.
Keeping you in our prayers Betty. Hopefully the doctor giving you injection today will suggest other meds to help you heal.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Omg Lindakay, we are about same weight, that is terrible you have to wait so long.

Hardly a muscle on left side that didn’t get an injection..talk about painful..think they went into spasms

Calling for a major snowstorm tomorrow

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Glad you got your injections. Now settle in somewhere and let them work.
Did he say anything about your coughing? Do you have the flu?

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

yeah, what about that cough??

Well, did something stupid in the early hours of the morning when I was heading off to sleep. I turned off all the lights (bedroom light was on) and my left big toe found the wooden leg of my couch - ow ow ow! It was bleeding under the nail & the nailbed turned blue. According to the paramedics I called, I'll likely lose the nail, but they wouldn't be able to do anything for it. My foot care lady (Lisa) offered to take the nail off, but it's tender so I opted to wait for it to fall off. It stopped bleeding pretty quickly, so the paramedics weren't very concerned about it. It's not broken, or it would hurt a lot more than it does. I'm walking pretty comfortably on it & I have it thoroughly bandaged. Should be interesting bowling tomorrow lol I've been driving (I use my right foot, driving, so my left isn't impacted) and walking around with no discomfort.
OH, remember my upper dentures that I lost in June? Found them in my knitting needle bag tonight. I'll have to see if they fit better than the new ones. lol

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Ouch! Be careful. I know those toe injuries hurt like the dickens. Glad you found your dentures.

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

LOL... Susan, I am glad you found your dentures, I never did find my missing hearing aid! I opted to have them replaced with better ones.
Betty, I hope the injections bring you relief.
Karen, have you had a chance to decorate for Christmas yet? With the recent move I am sure it's hard!
Sharon, what are your Christmas plans?
Dianne, you staying safe & sane with your dogs?
I have ONE more load of toys to deliver and we will be done for the year. Packed up all the doll stuff, did a count and we have enough for 25 more dolls, beyond the 25 dolls we kept, without having to sew more. I went thru all our resources and pared them down from 3 bins to 1. At one point Marie said she wasn't doing dolls anymore, I got all excited to get RID of everything. She changed her mind, I knew it was too good to be true. *sigh*
I will return to Marie's on Friday, we will bake cookies and prepare to drop off goody plates at various houses.
LOTS to do today so I best get on it.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Late afternoon “hi”

Blizzard here, crazy weather, here is hoping Dianne you aren’t getting it. The guy that usually does my back, steps and cleans my car has been having issues..still not well from his stay at hospital for breakdown so won’t pressure him..tried finding someone else but there are so few people who do plowing and shovelling sooo have to come up with something...right now Marie is doing it, saw her with runners the other day, says she doesn’t like lace up boots but likes slip ins, she has offered, thinking of asking her to go shopping with me next week and i will buy her boots, think her resources are limited..if she ends up doing my area I’ll pay her.

My BIL Lenny, Suzanne’s hubby found out he has lung cancer today, smokes like a fiend..He will go to Toronto for more tests to see if it’s anywhere else. Prayers please..

Susan, that hurts like the dickens, i had same, similar, what they did was release the pressure..doctor fired a rod, pushed end into nail and talk about blood splattering all over but it felt great afterwards.

Pat, quite an accomplishment you and Marie have done, I know it’s a lot of work but i think you would miss it.

Linda Kay are you still meeting up with your quilting group?

Still in pain just not as emotional today..although i am just siting 75% of the day, i brought out this afternoon Jeff’s kayak stained glass, out wax on it and got my electric butter out, looks good..maybe I’ll put it in Xmas bag tonight, bought humongous bags for all the pieces so will see if it fits… then on to the ones I haven’t waxed.. still have a week.

I spoke with Jeff to to get ideas for boys, I’ve got $150 now in all grands socks but I want something for them to open..as for Jeff he is a watch collector and loves gadgets so he sent me a photo of something he would use..he will order and I’ll send funds lol.

Mel told me that Kyle wants one of the good robot vacuums so guess instead of buying a gift I’ll add the other $50 in his stash, am sure Greg and Mel will help out with is wish item..the others who knows.

When i feel better might stop in to the snowmobile dealership, might be something for Noah and Greg..

I need a few what I call ‘drop in’ gifts, have quite a few of those Xmas hat kits, brought the fur part upstairs to grunge..maybe tonight I’ll give them a little brush of grunge that way that part will be done… the hat painting part i could do next week, let paint dry then another day decorate..know it sounds a lot but it’s not, mostly sitting on the couch using right arm..will use my shoulder support so i cannot use my left arm.

Looking forward to updates from others..so enjoy the read.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Thanks for checking in Betty. We do worry about you.
What did the doc say about your cough? Do/did you have the flu?

Yes, I still meet the quilting ladies for lunch on Wed. I enjoy chatting with them.
I picked up my quilts from the show.
None of them sold. Back in totes, till I figure out what to do with them.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Sorry to hear that none of the quilt sold..hard times for many..would have been nice even if it was just to cover cost of fabrics so you could do more but then again it’s therapy.

Not Covid, not flu, just that cold virus that is going around that affects breathing..dangerous if it gets out of control, I’ve meds for tonight and tomorrow then it’s back to Tylenol cold meds..today was a good couch day so maybe tomorrow better yet...when you get appointment for injections it’s injections only grrrr

I will call for telephone appointment because i wanted to ask that when I have been coughing so much near belly button it’s almost like , gee forgot the name, usually occurs when you lift a lot lol. Know it will come to me

What a blizzard, now it’s almost like freezing rain.

Cut the tags off those dusters for the Santa hats to grunge and placed on tin foil trays so i didn’t get grunge all over the place but it won’t be tonight.

I’ve 8 kits, thought I had less so I decided if I was going to make a mess might as well do them all.

Ziggy just jumped up beside me..i didn’t have ham for him but bought some when I was in town yesterday so it’s treat time for him.. hoping he can sleep with me tonight, hasn’t been..as soon as i cough off he goes to spare room

Was there any damage to that storm in your region Lindakay? Horrible/horrible

Verona, ON

Oh Betty we are getting blasted. It is supposed to continue overnight and into tomorrow. Sleet is on the agenda as well as snow. Oh joy !! I am ready - generator is filled up, lots of flashlights set to go. Have enough human and dog food plus treats on hand. Brought in enough wood to last 48 hours.

Went to Foodland as I forgot to get water yesterday. It was packed and everyone was in a tizzy.

Oh Pat I am staying safe and sane here with the TH. It has been pleasant walking but I expect tomorrow it will be a challenge. I'll know as soon as I let the TH out in the morning. I put them out the downstairs door and there is a hill sloping down to the lake. If they slide down the hill it will be difficult to walk. I'll just walk them on the lane.

Susan my biggest fear with my dentures is Zeke will drag them off of the bathroom counter and once they hit the tile floor will be toast. I now put them on the third shelf of the upper bathroom cabinet. I also make sure he doesn't see me do it...lol

Stay safe everyone.

Verona, ON

Double post.

Iron infusion tomorrow. They just called to tell me. I had postponed it twice.

Betty are you worried that coughing has caused a hernia? I'll tell you I had those thoughts my self. At times I was in a lot of pain from coughing so hard for so long. I would end up totally out of breath.
We are both feeling much better now. Did laundry and some badly needed cleaning. Floors wanted moping and were making me crazy.
Iron infusions are long drawn out affairs. so most of tomorrow will be just sitting. I'll take a book and as it's close I told Walt he can drop me off and get me later no sense in him just sitting around there..

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Storms were 8 hours north. None here.
Are you thinking hernia near your belly button? That doesn't sound good.

sending prayers for Lenny.

oh my........... what to do........
In my "finds" last night when going through quilting material, I found a whole bunch of 3" squares cut. Some are white (25), some are flowered (140'ish - may be more), and some triangles made into squares of the white & flowered pieces (10).
I have no idea what I cut these up for as there is no pattern with them.
This is the fabric. The white is a good quilting cotton, but the flowered pieces are thinner. Any suggestion as to what I can make with these? Sorry for the shadows in the pictures :)

btw - as to my dentures, they cost $365 to ge the replacement and I figure that was a price well worth it for 6 months worth of the new denture uppers! I obviously was not going to go without uppers for 6 months lol

Glad it’s infusion day, might give you mega energy for Christmas visits..will you be going to the kids or they to you?

Ahhh, yep that was the word I was searching for..quite a size..

Susan you will be able to have a nice sized quilt with that amount of fabric..
I am missing making quilts.

Might look for a valentine design for a throw after Christmas.

I was up at 2am, could hear the drizzle, more freezing than anything else starting so got the snow off windshield and the front and back steps, because if that snow froze what a mess it would’ve.

Usually I keep front steps/deck shovelled because mom comes for Christmas and front is her was of letting Bella out. Must put salt for steps on my list.

Marie was out about 4:30am..thought she might come 8n for coffee but didn’t.

Coffee time again

Verona, ON

Grrr just lost my post. When will I learn to post before I go back up on the thread to edit something ???

Karen will you be able to get to your infusion today ? Did you get this storm ?

BBL

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Betty, make sure you let the doctor know about your hernia.

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

Our weather is fine. Just above freezing and cloudy but nothing bad expected.
Betty my younger daughter has the Christmas celebration. We all bring something to contribute. Most of us will be there but her two sons out of state aren't able to come. I'm going to miss them and also Navy grand who is in Japan at the moment.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Dianne, my problem is normally going back to look at a photo and seems i never learn that post goes puff.. our snow storm is now turning from a freezing rain to rain..Mother Nature sure is confused

Yes, will mention the hernia

Got a call that i am getting a florist visit this afternoon, likely from my godson Paul and his wife Penny. Remember last year they delivered it and left it outside on front step and had to make another for me?

Hard getting families together, wether out of state/country or next block with all the illnesses etc.

Wanted cereal for breakfast, finally hungry but had to pour 1 1/2 bags of milk out, once they deliver flowers i will go get milk..in meantime another coffee, lucky I have powdered milk for such cases.

So this morning I did the dust pieces, all 26 grounded, slept for a few hours and am polishing another stained glass, thought majority of them were done but not so.

I’ve added red paint to the grunge so am thinking here and there i will paint the 8hats and 1 baby hat (starting a collection of Xmas things for Grayson).

Sure wished I could add video here, Destiny was at her moms, they were celebrating her moms birthday, Grayson who just started walking list his balance when he saw the cake and ran for it..guess you know what happened. All were laughing but not as much as he.

He sure brightens up our lives

Adam told me his dog Nova is pregnant. I know it was not intentional. They had her locked in the kennel, but I think Alex (their 6 YO) let her out. I remember seeing her "loose" in the house and bringing it to Andrea's attention. I guess Thaddeous (their male dog) was quicker than us! That was several weeks ago. I have told him to start looking for a rental or house to buy in EARNST. He told me that he has gone back to the original lender that he had approval from when he was a "yard dog" (moving trucks within the warehouse yard), before he was on the road.

Yikes,that is not good news..
Sounds like that is what they say ‘the straw that broke the camels back’ sorry to hear!
I’ve accomplished much today, thinking of running in to town to do a few things before the weather turns tomorrow, now had I gotten dressed 1st thing this morning I’d be more tempted..

Beautiful floral arrangement…

Good news or bad news, it is what it is. Adam would not have chosen to have her bred at this time but oh well. If I thought it was intentional, well.... I don't want to consider what my response would have been!!! LOL. If there is a yellow female in the litter, he will want to keep it and have Thaddeous neutered finally. I told him IF he is seriously, earnestly attempting to find new housing, we can discuss it then.
VERY pretty arrangement.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Just what you don't need right now.

Beautiful flowers Betty.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Thank you, they spoil me every year!

Pat did you get your cookies made or is that tomorrow?

I did go to town this afternoon, had everything but I usually gave them pj sets so 9 came home with me..forgot to buy money cards but decided the Christmas mitt I’m giving them can hold the $$$.Feel much better being in control of myself and my ‘to do’s.

I bought the cutest p.j.’s for Kyle, Grayson and Destiny..all match
Nothing like having new pjs Christmas Eve to lounge in.

Mason and Evan are coming tomorrow to wax their pieces and they are done..they can do that while I’m at the other end of the craft room doing my thing..all wearing masks of course.

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

Carolling with the seniors & the Fire Dept & the Lions club - it was fun. We were on a flat bed truck seated on hay bales. It was +4c so not cold, but after 1 1/2 hours we were getting cold. BIG fluffy snowflakes. Awfully pretty but difficult to read our song sheets with snow falling on the pages lol
Afterwards we went back to Silver Willow to have hot chocolate. I'd made some Mug Huggers (Sugar cookies) and that went over well. So did the marshmallows lol
I took some lap blankets to keep warm, but of course the other ladies thought they didn't need 'em. I had one for under me, when sitting on the hay bales, and one for my lap. Had to give it up for "someone" who needed one, once we were carolling lol Figures......... hahahaha The firemen went to every house & took bags of goodies - candy canes, packets of hot chocolate & tea. I came home to find one on my doorknob :)
btw - found another fabric to go with the pieces I found for "a" quilt. The fabric is some that my mom picked out for her Around the World (quilt in a day) that was started by her & finished by me. When she passed away, I got that quilt & it's on my bed now. I have the left over material (there's quite a bit of it) and I will add those 5 prints - all light blues. What do you think - compatible?

Thumbnail by Tallulah_B Thumbnail by Tallulah_B
(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Sounds like you all had a good time caroling.
I like those fabrics together.

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

Susan, those fabrics will be great together, are you going to look for another yellow & blue print to add? More yellow than blue? I am not a fan of giving up blankets for people that pass up opportunities to provide for themselves.... but like you, I would do it.
We baked more cookies yesterday, made up the plates. I delivered 2 last night. The rest will go out today.

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

Yes, Linda Kay - I did enjoy carolling, but then......... I knew I would lol
Pat - I'll have to see if I have a small print of yellow in my stash. Don't want something to overpower the delicate blue prints though. I'm Not going to buy more fabric. This is going to be a stash-buster lol
I Could have told them to go back to the hall & get more blankets. After all, our hamlet is only 3 streets & 3 avenues LOL The driver of the truck had some blankets to lend them (and me, now that I was missing one for my knees!)
Looking forward to next year's carolling!

Victoria Harbour, ON

Sounds as though you had a great time Susan..great way to get into the quilt using up what you have..stash breakers are the best.. do you have the batting and backing?

I also had a productive day, up early, buffed another stained glass piece, one that will go to Darlene & John..was meant for their trailer in Fort Myers but the storm looked after that place and visit..not sure what they will do with it but it’s a gift, maybe in their garden this summer..

Mason and Evan were here putting the final waxing and buffing to their piece, we’re here about an hour then I decided to finish Xmas hats..all 9 done..at 3 Brianna came for a couple of hours and finished her project so a very productive day.. all the wee ones now have their projects done for Christmas which means next week it will be a me week.

Am hurting but less pressure on me knowing all my commitments are done, tomorrow wrapping.

Think it was Mel who sent me a picture of a project for Greg/Jeff, bag to hold their golf balls..might be a fun project should I feel bored lol

Do any of us ever get bored?

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

Overwhelmed - yes, bored - never lol
I have the batting, Betty, and will have to think about the backing.
The quilt I made for my mom with the 5 blue fabrics - I have a pre-backed piece of one of the same (midrange blue) materials that I will make into a pillowcase. I suppose I could make 2, with different backing. I'll see which material I have the most of when I'm finished the quilt.
My iron died today - power, but no heat. I'm going into Three Hills tomorrow, for church, and thought I'd stop by The Bargain Shop to pick up a new one. Dianne says she thinks she has an old one that I can have. She's been known to burn silks & such and her old workhorse of an iron would do that so she bought a new one and stored the old one away.
In the meantime........... I have a tiny craft iron (no bigger than the palm of my hand. Does anyone know how to fill these with water? I see steam holes at the top of it, but no way that I can see to fill it. The white piece in the 3rd pic doesn't move so I'm supposing it's part of the rest. Nothing else looks movable?!

Thumbnail by Tallulah_B Thumbnail by Tallulah_B Thumbnail by Tallulah_B
(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Maybe you are supposed to slowly pour water over those holes and let it drip in?

Seems I always have something to do. Never bored here.

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

NEVER bored, restless, overwhelmed, even resentful (if what I HAVE to do is overshadowing what I WANT to do LOL).
Google it or search in Utube, someone will tell you how to fill that model!! Mine has a rubber "button" that was to be pried off to fill, it is not as easy to identify as you would think & a little difficult to pry off. .

Victoria Harbour, ON

Afternoon, nearly evening, hope your day is going well.

Woke up at 3am, wasn’t a lot of snow so aI decided I would get the snow shovelled, only 1/2 inch so easy to do.a.started to wraps presses, ean out of supplies so thought it might be a food idea to do some cleaning, that resulted in me folding a piece of painters canvas, not enough todo much with so cut out 2 more hats, 3 sets mitts and a baby set, rather than let them dry on their own I baked them in the oven, will decorate tomorrow.

1st cooked meal in quite some time, roast and scalloped potatoes.

Been laying on couch since 2, had a doze, best i do something now or i will be up all night.

Calling for a big snow storm tomorrow, wish I had gone to town this afternoon so i could finish legit over chores from this morning.

What did you all do today..

Hard to believe Christmas is less than a week to go..

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

Sewing room is getting put together. Then I will be going on a treasure hunt through all the bins I packed. I did find a bunch of machine embroidered ornaments so I finished them up today and will have enough to hand out to those I see. Put together all the kids gift bags. 33 altogether. Only the under 18s get gifts.and candy, the older ones get candy and I think I'll give each and ornament. Just one package to mail to TN. Going tomorrow so I hope it will arrive in time.

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

Betty - wonder if you got the Christmas snow we got here? Big fluffy flakes - it was beautiful, even if it Was a lot lol
I'm going to take the craft iron to Coffeetime tomorrow & see if someone else can figure it out. There is no make or model on it, so Googling it didn't help last night when I first got stymied by it. It's a generic "something".
Dianne's workhorse of an iron works very well. No steam option, made by "General Electric" not GE. Must be from the 50's. It has a fabric wrapped cord. Remember those? Have to spray the clothes manually, so I got a spray bottle for water.
