Sitting here playing with paper lol, Ziggy is on coffee table as though to say it’s bedtime

So sad to hear of that accident Betty.
Yesterday police got a call to an apartment where 3 people were unresponsive. 2 females, 1 male. The 2 femawere dead on arrival, the young man was sent to the hospital. Don't know if he will make it. They bought and used vocalize, didn't know it was laced with fentanyl. So sad.
Yes, Uvalde is the city where the young kids were shot at the school. Thst school is to be torn down, and they are building a new.
Can't wait to see what you are doing with that paper.

Verona, ON

Can't sleep... sigh. I fell asleep around 7 pm woke up at 8:30 and now am paying the price. I was so tired but was hoping to make it to 8 or 9 so I wouldn't be sitting here like a hoot owl now.

Betty on the news they showed the families looking at the hole that the car with the young people fell into. They must have been distracted to go past the barricade. I know unfortunately drug/alcohol tests will be made. You could see all the Lookie Lous standing behind the police barricade that was set up several yards from the scene. I don't understand why people have to gather and gawk at such sights. Although that being said my mother and her family always chased after fire engines as they streaked by sirens blaring.

Chaos is in his ninth year. I swear Zeke is keeping him moving. It's a delight to see. Chaos made sure he got up on the bed and sprawled out as far as he could so there would be very little room for Zeke after I got in the bed. The vet wanted Chaos to lose 20 lb - 10 I can see but not 20. He is on Senior kibble and I make up a mixture of chicken or hamburger with lots of veggies. Lots of times he doesn't finish his bowl so he is not over eating.

Fantasy in the Forest is a wonderful outdoor Art/Artisan show. The organizer Jamie Brick ( I think both the event and Jamie are on FB). I am hoping for everyone it doesn't rain all day. The Weather Liars are predicting rain for part of the day both days. Little early to predict the weather for the weekend though.

We got all of about 3 min of rain. We really need it. There was a powerful T&L show for about an hour around 4 pm. Zeke was looking out the window to see where the noise was coming from.

While I don't sew or quilt I sure enjoy reading and seeing your photos of those who do. When I graduated from university my parents gave me a sewing machine. Way back then I used to make most of my clothes so it was an appreciated gift. Life just got in the way so I donated the machine to an outreach program for mental health clients.

Liz how are you doing ? I hope you pop in soon and let us know how you are doing.

LK I just saw on the news that the students in Uvalde start back to school this week. What a heart wrenching time for all involved. Wonder where they are going to hold school.

Hoping even though I am not you are all asleep in your beds although I bet Betty is stirring right about now.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Most of the parents will be homeschooling, due to the trauma the little ones went through. Uvalde said they will create make shift schools for those that want to go to school.
Hope you get some sleep.
It's raining here this morning. Started about an hour ago.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Evening girls, already had my supper and laying on the couch.

Dianne, nothing more annoying than laying there watching the clock..i try to not fall asleep til 8 or 9 bur regardless what time it is I’m up around 6. So ghoulish to want to see where the accident occurred, maybe relatives/friends there in disbelief.. would imagine we will hear more soon.

Had similar day Dianne, they called for heavy rainfall, only a few drops, when I got home the wing was up and black sky, hadn’t unpacked groceries from car and sun was back up. Do hope it’s a nice long weekend for everyone seeing it will be last before school starts.

Chaos eats better than most people. Hope you get the Jamie Brick piece.

Lindakay, can’t even imagine any of those school children would ever want to go school or anywhere for that matter. Those people involved ways will never be the same.how isTodd today?

Wish i lived closer, think Fantasy in the Forest would be a lovely venue to attend

This morning Pat/June and I chatted up a storm, then while they did criss cross diamond shapes on their Christmas panel i decided to pull all the fabric out of one of the cupboards to see what i had and did not have, bet is on with the girls, by Tuesday it will end a mess again..I am the one betting it will be a mess.got all the totes with specific projects nicely set in woodworking room. Was pleased with my morning!

Called fabricland in Barrie to see how long their buy one get 2 Xmas fabric was on for..tomorrow last day so off Sharon and I went..mad at myself, last week i bough off whit with lighter doves, thought all the same. WELL what I did not see was the rest of Xmas fabric was $24.-$28-$38 a meter..i bought a few third, didn’t even need a bag and it was $78.49 grrr

When we got to Sharon’s all 3 dogs were having a great time playing on their new play feature.

After saying about time i go to sleep my eyes are heavy.

Your prices for fabric are scary high Betty!!! How does that compare with ordering from Keepsake Fabric? I know the postage is higher to Canada but it is clearly stated. By the time you calculate the exchange rate, how does that work out? I have had GREAT luck with Keepsake. https://www.keepsakequilting.com/shipping-information
Canadian Shipments
Purchases up to $10.00 = $11.99
from $10.01 to $20.00 = $12.99
$20.01 to $30.00 = $13.99
$30.01 to $40.00 = $14.99
$40.01 to $60.00 = $15.99
$60.01 to $74.99 = $16.99
Over $75.00 = $17.99

My carpenter texted me that he could not come this week to put the new door in. My DIL told son, "not to bother" she expected they would find housing later this month. That would be wonderful but highly unlikely. I feel bad for my son. That is one messed up marriage.

I had decided that it was PAST time to pump out the septic tank & called a company. I explained that I had no idea where the tank was. They suggested I call county health department, but they did not have a record of it. I mentioned to my neighbor I was going to try to locate the septic lid with metal detector. She said her husband Jack would find it for me with "water witching".

Jack has tentatively located the septic tank; grandkids are going to dig down to the lid and expose it. By having the tank found & lid dug, I could save probably about $300. Lets hope it goes well!

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Incredible how much fabric is in Canada. I thought $12.00 per yard was expensive at the quilt shops. At Walmart, its about $7.00.
Todd is holding on. Still losing weight. Told me yesterday his legs are weak. That could be a side effect from the cancer pills, as well as his weight loss. Will ask the doc on the 8th.

Las Vegas, NV(Zone 9a)

All is well here in Las Vegas but it is really hot. We have had a delightful August until Sunday. Then our real August showed up. Our temps will be between 104 and 110 for the next 10 days. My plumeria think I moved them to he**. We have been so cloudy and that was a very welcome change. September is usually a wonderful temperature month. I went out yesterday and my pepper plants looked like they had been blasted with something very hot< I washed them down. I have tomatoes ripening on the vine but they have no taste.

Betty, that was quite a party for your adorable great-grandson. That is such a sad story about all those young adults losing their lives. I cannot believe that material cost that much.

Pat, that would be such good news if you got your home and your life back. You will probably have items that will need repair with all of those dogs.

Everyone you talk to here is having problems with sick dogs. Upset stomachs and diarrhea. They just released a warning from the Vets. With our rains, bacteria was being washed from the bird nests and trees. Dogs were walking in the rain puddles and getting the bacteria on their paws and maybe licking their paws. Who would think?? The rain has also brought out the tiny ants. They are everywhere.

Linda, I am praying Todd finds someway to encourage himself to eat. I have never had that problem.

Diane, that festival sound perfect. Have a good time.

I have a problem right now. Emma want to go for her walk and it is still to hot. She must be able to tell time.

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

There will be a significant amount of repair (walls & hardwood floors ), replace (curtains & more) & repaint etc. I dread the cleaning but would hire some of it done. Everything is such a mess, I am appalled.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Morning, nice sunrise this morning, calling for rain but i will not get too excited about that as the are wrong most of the time.i have one of the young girls coming at 9, that will get my mojo going.

Pat,tad of a saving but not much. The girls want to go to Buffalo in November so will start making a list. Yesterday Sharon said maybe we could leave early early and go for the day..at onetime you went to fabricland because it was cheaper than the smaller fabric stores but that is no longer.

Lindakay they just made mega changes at our Walmart, was hoping to get fabric but they made it smaller, more childrens craft..boo hoo..sending prayers

Pat, I so hope you can get your house back and in once piece, sounds like it will be a costly fix.be a blessing for them to get their own place..hope you can get your septic cleaned..think they say pumping should be done every few years.

Sharon, never thought about how dogs are being affected..great the Vets are making it known.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Hey Sharon, glad to hear from you. Keep your dogs safe. hope you get cooler weather soon.
Todd is eating, anything he wants, but still losing weight. Praying the doctor has an answer n3ext week.
Still raining here. About 8 inches so far, from yesterday and today. Lower parts of Del Rio are flooding. We are on the outskirts of town and on higher ground. So far we are good. Just lots of mud from the dog going in and out.
Betty, I hope you can make a trip state side.

Verona, ON

Just stopping in to read and say Hi. I need to get the garbage up the lane.

A hint Pat about the septic - when I first had mine cleaned I was in the same dilemma so I added some good soil to what I had dug up and put a 2X4 frame around it. Then I plant annuals there every year. Your water witcher might find your well but maybe you are on town water so no worries. I scoffed at the thought of someone who was witching for water until I saw it for my own eyes.

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

Linda, 8 inches in 2 days, oh my. No wonder you have flooding! I am glad you are on high ground. Is there any danger to roads OUT of your area, could you be isolated? Are there things you need to do "just in case"?

We are on city water & it appears the grandkids have hit cement, not yet completely uncovered the septic lid but they will finish the job. Yes, it was VERY cool to watch the witching rods move in Jack's hands. I have no problem with believing that the water has a "magnetic-like pull", if that what you want to call it.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

No danger of us getting stuck here. We are at one of the highest places in Del Rio. Getting into town may be difficult, because of low areas and rising creeks, but we have plenty of supplies here.

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

Well all parties are in agreement and hoping all continues smoothly to a closing.

Linda, so worried about Todd continuing to lose weight. Hoping Dr. can find a way to reverse that.

Victoria Harbour, ON

I will save doing the happy dance Karen till the closing date.. when will that be..praying it goes through without any hiccups.

Lindakay' how i wish i had been smart enough to buy on top of the hill instead of the bottom..are they calling for more rain? guess the clay like earth doesn’t absorb the rain.has Todd been sleeping well?

Water witching is an art..had our farmhouse done and you could just see the pull,of the rods towards water.

Had 2 young ones today, Peighton went home with her throw, happy camper as was her mom. Brittany is doing a fall table top, it’s sandwiched and ready to quilt. I took out the textured clear glass hanging back out, hoping tomorrow it will be ready to take to Gayle’s.

Ziggy has had his ham and laying next to me sound asleep.
Just before i came to bed i turned my block calendar piece over to have 01, there are 3 strips with4 sides with months painted on it, rearranged to last strip..boy won’t be long before we are into yet another year.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Peighton

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Sleeping is about all he does. He is up and down all night, and takes several naps during the day.
My grandfather used to use willow tree limbs for witching. Worked every time for him.
Amazing how fast this year has shooshed by.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Big sigh, that doesn’t sound good Lindakay, you must be beyond worried..Hope you can sew or do something while he sleeps otherwise you will have too much time to think..are any of the kids close and/or visiting?

Now you mention it Lindakay it was willow tree branches..remember him saying never plant a willow tree near septic nd water because it’s root system will grow tenfold and have mega trouble.

I finished the glass piece, pleased with that.
Didn’t get downstairs to finish the cupboard cleaning, perhaps later

Keep look8ng at spice cake, chocolate dressing and the chocolate ice cream but will hold off..

Off to look for my cbd shoulder cream and rest a bit.

Trees are turning and it’s about 5 weeks til Thanksgiving…me and my planning, always need a plan

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Sound a little earlier for the trees to turn colors.
I have bern sewing. I made the turquoise carpenters star, and what was left I am make these blocks from 2 & 1½ inch strips. It's called a strip tube. You can find videos on YouTube. I have 34 blocks sewn, need to press them, then put together with sashing.

Thumbnail by taters55
Victoria Harbour, ON

It is early, gardens are all but done, usually they are beautiful til end of September.

Glad you have your sewing, love turquoise, not sure why i don’t do more with it.

When does extreme heat start lowering that you can spend some time outside.
How are you feeling today Karen? does the potential closing allow you to move north before the snow moves in

Deb how are you feeling? Are there any sob shows coming up?

How did the meal go Susan, did they enjoy it.

Dianne if you have the same weather as I bet you got a few walks in..notice colour change in trees yet in your region?

Sharon, you were saying you are soon planting your winter gardens, we’re you able to get it done

Think I am forgetting someone?

I should have been outside today but not, actually going to bed..hard day and not work wise… this old body..drats

Wish I could think of what to take to bed to fill a few hours, one thought was the fixings for a Penny rug, maybe I could try that.had a picture for Sharon, now if I can find it…hope I did not already post it

Thumbnail by Bettypauze
(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

I have been meaning to try a strip tube but so far just have not done it. I want to try a kaleidoscope block too and have not started that either!

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

That saying is so true. Todd and I have been sort things out, going through boxes we have stored for years. Quite often one of says, why were we saving this? Out it goes.
Temps have been in the high 80's to mid 90's. Not too bad. Just the rain we've had the last few days makes it very humid. Need to find someone to get the grass and weeds cut back. Amazing how fast they grow when it rains.

Las Vegas, NV(Zone 9a)

We are very hot. No clouds anywhere. Emma and I were outside for about 10 minutes with a misting fan and over head fans going and still miserable. We came back into the house and except for a short walk walk around 6pm, we are house bound.

My garden helper is coming tomorrow. I tried to talk to him into taking two weeks off I offered to pay him and he could make up the time when it cooled off by working two days and he said no. We shall see.

I went shopping yesterday for a few new tops. Had a difficult time finding anything I liked and the stores were empty. And after I found something I had a difficult time finding someone to take my money. I actually thought about walking out of the store carrying the tops, so when security stopped me then they could find me somewhere to pay.

Betty, so pleased you are looking for CBD cream. Hope you can find some.

Pat, that is so upsetting to me that your family has allowed your home to be so damaged. Shame on them. But this too shall pass.

Everyone is getting rain except the West.

Linda, let's hope Todd will start gaining some weight back. Sounds like you guys are getting a lot of rain. I laugh every time I read about the mayors of the cities having a meltdown when they get a few illegal immigrants. You should write an editorial and send it to their newspapers and them them the rest of the story.

Karen, so pleased you are in escrow. Good luck on the closing.

I have not planted my winter garden because it is too hot. Think I will need to wait two more weeks. This high heat will be around for at least 10 more days.

Hugs to all of you.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

DC and Chicago mayor's not happy getting bus loads of illegal immigrants. They are being sent to every state, and have been for years. Texas has had more that 1 million illegals active, just this year. And that's not counting the one that didn't get caught. Probably another 500,000. Texas would be in trouble if we were forced to keep them here. Same with other border states.
All because our president won't allow border patrol to enforce the law.

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

Linda, sadly in my opinion this president is not overly concerned with following the law.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Just got my things together, put my grocery list and stops in my bag, so easy to forget then i come home with half.

Gorgeous fall day out there, put all the cushions back on the outdoor sets, been 2 weeks they’ve been in the house because they were calling for rain.

A mother brought her daughter to meet me, she will start sewing next Saturday..i won’t forget her name as I so enjoy history of the south and Selma which i visited will be easy to remember. Selma is interested in an easy throw, think tube design would be ok right Lindakay.

I’d have lots to say who should stay in power but won’t go there. It must be terrible though Lindakay that many coming through your borders.

Sharon find the same in our stores, nobody on the floor to ask for help then the till situation is worse.i don’t go through the self serve at all, I’ve seen me leave without buying what was in my basket.

Get the stained glass piece in my car, go shop and do misc running around and home..as i am typing my eyes are getting heavier…didn’t sleep well at all last night

Oh got an message from Mary from NewOrleans , says to say hello to all

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

Although I don't smell like smoke, our skies are UGLY gray. We are probably getting smoke from fires in Oregon or somewhere else close in WA..

I need to have a quilt done & turned in by 9/16 (36 x 36 minimum). Those interested signed up months ago & were each given a grab bag with scraps & then picked ONE fat quarter (without knowing what was in the bag). I have been debating for days, after thinking for months, WHAT I was going to do with this fabric!! I start today. I bought Farm Girl Vintage by Lori Holt of Bee in my Bonnet and 2 yards of dry brush blue fabric for the background. Attached is a picture of the fabrics that I have to use in the quilt. I don't have to use ALL of every piece, but I have use some of each. The border print floral and the small strip of chicken fabric ought to make it a challenge!

Another glorious day here. I could take this weather year round.

It seems that Mr. Zeke has been pulling the wool over my eyes. I've been giving him a boost up onto the bed. I woke up 1 morning and he was asleep on my feet. I don't remember lifting him up onto the bed. Today he asked for a boost up and I said no. He walked around the bed to the other side, looked me straight in the eye and jumped up onto the bed.

Great to hear from Mary Betty. Lance's restaurant/cafe has a FB page.

Sharon I could never go outside with your temps. Did your garden helper turn up ?

Sounds like there is going to be a huge, very loud party across the lake. I happen to know the parents of the kids in that home are away for the weekend. It will be interesting to see how the party unfolds.

Went out and got my Rx this morning. Our village pharmacy always closes for the whole long weekend so you are out of luck if you don't pick up your drugs today. They close every long weekend. I don't know the owner's logic as he closes the pharmacy for every 3 day weekend.

Enjoy your weekend everyone.

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

Maybe the pharmacy owner closes every 3 day weekend to avoid Burn-Out. How many pharmists do they have total? With the shortage of all employees (PharmMD too), keeping employees happy is a priority!
Yeah, Zeke was playing you!!! LOL, smart puppy and athletic too. What was different about the other side of the bed, more room to maneuver?
How old are kids across the lake? If they are underage, a call to the RMP might be in order if it gets to rowdy.

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

Yes, Betty, they did enjoy the meal. She said it was something she would expect to have at a good restaurant :)

Been very busy lately, and now trying to find a tent for camping next year, planning my trip to GA, and yesterday went with a neighbour to Red Deer. Total trip took 6 hours, 1 hour each way, and her appointment took 3 hours, plus a bit to pick up some frozen fried chicken for the Senior's meeting Sept 15th. We'll be having fried chicken & corn on the cob. I'm instituting a policy of the sending the Agenda & minutes out to the members each month, so everyone is kept up to date on what's going on. Yes, we've lost a secretary, BUT if I have to do it myself I will. Eventually we will find a secretary, but it's going to be "interesting" to find another one.

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

Everyone getting the agenda is great idea. That way, even if they miss the meeting, they have the opportunity to know what is going on. I hope you find a new secretary soon.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Those fabrics will do justice to that pattern .. Sept. 16th isn’t that far away.how big are you making it? Remember when Rita Ana’s I travelled to San Francisco , there were fires all over and when we left hotel in the morning that is all we could smell is smoke..must not be good for lungs

Had the same kind of day here Dianne, i too could do with this year round.
Giggling here about Zeke, where there is a will there is a way.mom says her little pooch can’t do stairs so she Carrie’s Bella, how can she account when she is not here Bella is downstairs when I’m working there.

Hopefully those young ones will behave. Odd that the pharmacist is allowed to close..
Was listening to the news, lots of opportunity out there, shouldn’t be difficult to hire staff.

Susan that is high praise. Not a wonder you’ve not been on DG, just on overload. Hope you can find a tent that is easy to put up.secretary position is time consuming, best you not take over boat.

Drats, put Dr. Ho on, patches on top part of my feet, had it on for an hour and was just about to change to my hips and batteries died.. thank goodness for that junk drawer.

Called mom, she had a procedure done today..she was home and in pain

Falling asleep
Night night

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

I will make it roughly 40 x 40, since that is the size of the wall hanging I need to cover the "window/pass through" from the hall into the kitchen. That way the kitchen is not visible from the entry hall & I don't have to see it.

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

Good for you, Pat - looking forward to seeing what it looks like with its new "cover" :)

Victoria Harbour, ON

Morning all, what a gorgeous day….

It’s 9:00am so waited long enough for the neighbours sleep in..want my grass cut so i can play with a few craft projects

Coffee is finished, might make another in a covered mug that Barb gave me, her Birthday is Tuesday and she has been on my mind

Be back later

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Strip tubes are not that hard to do. Just need to measure twice before you cut.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Think at one point i bought a strip cut ruler, will have to look..

What did you all get into today

My morning went well, around 1 I got company and received mega hugs from nieces, they no sooner left that i fell asleep..nothing like getting up from couch and make your way to bed.

Calling doctor Tuesday, surely they must have something for this pain, entire left side has done me in…complainer aren’t I?

I have to stop playing with the A/c, 79 in the house tonight, Greg always tells me, put temp at a degree you like and leave it but i don’t listen..

Enjoy your evening

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

I learned something NEW to me today.
I didn't know that you could sew without using a foot pedal!
I was asked to do a project, by my friend Pat. She'd gotten a knitted pouch for her phone, and she has a tiny flip phone, so the pouch is too big. She asked me to adjust it. Now, I know you can take in kntting by sewing it, so I brought out my sewing table & machine, and because stuff was in the way I had to rearrange my sewing machine. I unplugged the foot & must have lost a part where it plugs into, in the machine. I couldn't plug the foot pedal in. I went to You Tube to find out why I couldn't plug it in and found a video that said "If you want to use your pedal.........." ??? You can sew without the pedal? YUP - by pushing buttons on the machine. I suppose for people with disabilities that Can't use the pedal, this is great. Well, I can't use my pedal anymore, so this is great. AND now I know how to do free motion sewing lol
