The twins......... how great is it that they're doing so well! I remember how worried everyone was when they were born!

Sure hope it’s a sunshine day tomorrow for Kyle andDestiny, nothing worse than preparing an outdoor party and it rain.

Lots of bear warnings in our area as well as fox, seems the dry season is bringing wildlife out looking for eats. Omg, we have miles and miles of trails, virtually you can walk to 4 towns, anyway here on our trail a man was walking nude..police has picked him up..i heard there is a nudist camp around, maybe he got lost..didn’t know there was such a camp, not that i am going to join. Lol

Our house is not listed at an inflated price. It was at this value long before it all went so crazy. My feeling is maybe people think the price is crazy but we had that talk with our agent who is a long time friend and also helped us buy this place so she is well aware of the value. It has increased in value but mostly because we did the work to improve it. Problem is some it was necessary but doesn't show. Like the basement water proofing. It's guaranteed for life but not something people can see. Also the driveway. You can see it but they don't realize it was impassable mud until we paved it. Two new bathrooms, cost a bunch and added value. We got this house at a good price because of all that needed done.

Verona, ON

Good morning. Waiting for Betty's weather from last night to hit me. I got our first walk in at dawn just in case but think I will get the boys out for another one.

Woke up thinking that it was the long weekend and couldn't understand why my American neighbours were heading out. They always give a honk when they leave so I know to make sure I walk the TH down by their cabin. I don't walk that way when they are here.

Oh my Grayson is a cutie. Betty I hope you feel well enough to enjoy the party.

Still haven't ordered my winter wood. I have no idea why I am procrastinating but I am. I'll start cutting up the fallen wood tomorrow that is a distance from the house. I'll take the Escape down to load the wood into to bring home. I'll leave the TH behind as Zeke has no fear of power tools. I can only work for 60 - 90 minutes at a time before my knee really starts hurting. To quote my sweet dad "this getting old is for the birds."

Pat did the bathtub get unplugged ? I always swore I would never rent a property we owned but I just couldn't give up the farm house when we moved here. So we rented it for a couple of years. Our renters always paid on time in cash. One of the renters came banging on the door saying there was a chimney fire and she had called the fire department. There was no chimney fire but because they were called out they shut down the woodstove. Grrrr.

LK how are you and Todd doing today ?

Stay safe, well and hydrated.

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

Betty the photos are so cute!

Karen, I feel your pain!!! It's agony to have a house on the market. Our first home was on the market for a full year with 4 kids at home 19, 15, 13 & 11, it was a NIGHTMARE. It was a split-level house with 1 acre. 1 acre was more than most people wanted and not enough for those that wanted more pasture/horse property.

Yes, $238 later, the plumber confessed HE was beginning to doubt his ability to unclog it!! The sink & bathtub out- flow are connected; he found a cheap necklace with LOTS of hair etc caught on it that caused the clog. The plumber recommended the fine strainers like things to put in tub & sink (they had the plunger cap completely off the sink).. I bought them yesterday, I will follow up if "renters" installed them.

I quickly answered a post about FREE kitchen cabinets & grabbed my neighbor Gabe, (12 YO helper), we took my truck and loaded them all up! I have them in the garage, we will put one large cabinet over 1 of my desks (that will serve as my "kitchen". 2 small ones will be stacked & become my pantry. That leaves what would normally be put above a refrigerator & 1 more overhead & 2 other that are spare & need to find new homes. I had been SERIOUSLY shopping on Marketplace & online, even had a few things in my "cart", making a decision when these became available. SOOOOO very blessed.

I was supposed to go to Portland this weekend to visit Kevin (son) and fiancée etc but he called earlier this week & said they were coming down sick, not a good idea. He called this morning & stated he tested positive for Covid. I am glad we backed out earlier, before booking hotel. I considered going to Sumner to see Dana (another son) but they have not had working AC in 2 months while they fight with insurance & try to get new unit. Yeah, NOT going there! LOL LOTS to do at home so I guess I should do it.

northeast, IL(Zone 5a)

Lots to catch up on! It was so nice to see photos of the twins!

Grayson is adorable! Such a cutie. Hard to believe he's a year old already! They grow up way too fast!

Victoria Harbour, ON

Back from Barrie, nice afternoon with Sharon, she is having a hard time of it.

Not sure Dianne if you got the rain?? It’s held up here, but chilly and night winds..gardens are all but done, only thing looking great is the genanium..next year will buy more of those, few really bright coleus, should bring them in the fall but Lordy where do you put them??

Karen maybe with the economy as it is people are more cautious Re buying. Upsetting for sure as you are so looking forward to moving back north, seems like yesterday you were anxious to move south… at least you got the opportunity to try it out. Praying an offer will come in before winter.

Pat, there was also an add on our marketplace Re off white cupboards, free as well, was so tempted then thought no I don’t really need them then it came to me, would have been perfect in back shed..drats. Sorry you aren’t able to get to visit Kevin
, but you sure would want Covid. Suspect you want to do your visit8ng before bad weather, i know I know it’s 3-4 months away but look at august, seems we just started and it’s over..I think Marie bought it more for you than she..you can quilt up her quilts.
Skilled, are you calling your kids “renters” guess the the will stay?

Dianne think you best put ordering wood on your tomorrow’s “to do”..needed to sit and read a good book while TH lay at your feet. I am with you, finding it hard to know what day it is, i have been basing the days by who comes for sewing lessons, will miss them all after next week.

Lindakay, you’ve been quiet, hope all is well

Didn’t buy much in town today but i will take a day next week, the had mega Christmas fabric at Fabricland..when you bought a meter $17.00 you got 2 free..thought I’d check what I have here then stock up.

I found a beautiful cut pumpkin plastic cut out.. I will check how much lumber is for a wide the largest plank I can get and try to see how stencilling it works and maybe i will have a fall craft day. Don’t know about in USA but wood is outrageous here.

I thank you all for the lovely comments Re Grayson, i picked up penguin costume from Cathy, looks so cute..am looking forward to tomorrow’s party.

Ate my fries and gravy, sure were tasty.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Betty, those photos of Grayson are so awesome.
Glad you got the clog fixed Pat. Great deal on the cupboards.
I have finally found the desire to quilt again. I started this back in May, before Todd wentbto the hospital. I dug it out, and got it finished. 74X76. Carpenters whewith piano key border.

Was starting to worry about you and Todd

Glad you have your mojo back for sewing, the colours are so soft. I love doing that pattern… Maybe you can teach Todd to sew? Lol

i felt bad today when i got three meters of fabric when i could have bought so much but with not being able to sew there is no sense, wanted to cry..am sure some understand.

I carried my bag with my walled, inside of 10 minutes i didn’t know what to do with myself, felt like my upper body could hold my arms..got some of the pain pads i couldn’t find all summer, put one on and gave me relief.

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

Betty we do enjoy the weather here. Our own circumstances have changed. My legs aren't working well on one level, stairs just beat me up. The biggest concern is Walt's eyes. He has AMD and it's affecting him already. That means we can't make trips. I still drive but I tire easily. We feel it's better to get back to where most of our family is.

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

Karen, I understand your need to be closer to family and like you said, as your ability to travel becomes less, it become doubly important to be near your loved ones.

Linda, your carpenters star is beautiful, and quilted and bound already?? You go girl! I am sure it feels great to be sewing again. The sewing is essential to what little I have left of my peace of mind!!

Good to see you post Debbie. I hope all is well with you.

Betty, I am so sorry that your arm & neck pain is limiting your sewing. I keep putting off a surgery because it means weeks without sewing, not sure I am up to that! I am grateful that the pain patches provide some relief. I hope you bought LOTS while you could find them.

Betty, you mentioned Sharon is struggling. Having a rough time with the grieving with Inuk's loss, I assume. Or is there more going on?

I am going to encourage Adam & Andrea to find a suitable rental elsewhere. For now, they are scheduled to officially become renters here 9/1. She will be happier away from me (and the feeling is mutual).

Marie is very new to quilting so it takes her a LONG time to make something. She did do some passes on the latest dinosaur quilt. We got it off the longarm today. Maybe I will get lucky and get the binding on tonight. Probably not LOL, I want to get the zippers on the next quilt so it can go on the longarm.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Zippers on the longarm?

No, my quilt is just a top at this stage. Still don't dare leave Todd any longer than I need too. He stepped on the scale today, and has lost another 4 pounds. 151 this afternoon. It is seriously making me nervous and worried.

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

We use a zipper system of putting the quilt to the leaders. We don't pin or baste to the leaders. The 1/2 of the zipper is on each leader, the other half is basted to the top & bottom of the quilt backing, 1/2 zipper is basted to bottom of the quilt flimsy. After zipping it on & laying the batting on the backing, , the top is pulled up & basted to the batting/backing. ,
The zipper system makes it possible to take your quilt on & off & pick up immediately if you want to take a break & quilt a different quilt in- between starting & finishing your other quilt. I'll take pictures next time I am setting up the quilt.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Must be something new. I have never heard that.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Afternoon, just heading out to Grayson’s 1st birthday party..it’s truly a sunshine day, couldn’t ask for better..why i decided to make a frog for him this morning is beyond me but i am right on target but didn’t cut grass, it’s just drying up now.

Karen, certainly can understand why you need and want to be closer to family

My girlfriend has zippers on her long arm but you know for all the time it takes to pin i don’t know if it’s easier and saves times.

Hope all is going well, with you Debbie.

Sharon is because the loss of Inuk..today Brian is go8ng to her house to make a play unit for her other 3 dogs.

Well if i want to be on times best I get a move on.. still have to go to Gayle’s for solder and lead tape, Walmart for fruit trays, pack up car..if i make it it won’t be minutes early

Verona, ON

Lovely cool day here. It is so refreshing. Makes you want to do more outside.

Betty I no longer carry a purse. I put my license, credit/debit cards and health card in a small change purse in my jean's/short's pocket. I keep my cash in a money clip in another pocket. I can't remember the last time I wore a dress - it is literally years. Once I stopped teaching dresses went to the back of my closet.

LK I am holding you and Todd close to my heart. Watching Todd fade away is scary for you. I know the feeling all too well.

Pat I think you are very wise to suggest another rental place for your son and his wife. You are a very resilient person but you have worked hard and should be enjoying your whole home not a corner of it. As a dog owner and lover I understand how hard it has been for you to adjust to the dogs on top of everything else. Even in my own home if someone is visiting and is leery of dogs mine are put in their enclosure until everyone is settled then the TH can come in politely greet people then lay by my side or beside their crates. I would never think of opening the door with the TH cavorting around if I knew people were leery. That being said there has been a few times when 2 large Rottis by my side when I open the door to strangers that their presence was appreciated. No one should be at my door unless they were invited or a neighbour after all I live a mile in from the township road on a private lane.

Good to see you drop in Deb.

I drove off to the Farmers' Market early this morning only to find there was no market as there is a celebration of some sort at the park. I was very disappointed as I wouldn't get my olive bread and other fresh goodies. There are no longer stands on the side of the road offering fresh produce around me. I might go into the Kingston market tomorrow. There is a Sunday one closer to the 401 and not all the way downtown.

Zeke the little stinker tried to steal Alice's ball when we walked this morning. It got left out when they packed up and left. He loved Alice's so much I went and bought him one.

My left knee is the size of a melon so I think I will go put it up and ice it.

Stay safe, well and hydrated.

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

I am sure Alice would have wanted to share with Zeke!! LOL

I am NOT terribly brave when it comes to dogs. If they don't bark, and their tails are wagging, the owner says they are "safe", I do ok!! LOL

Victoria Harbour, ON

Evening all

Just got in, was a lovely birthday party..I’m surprise that Grayson stayed up for the entire time..never saw so many gifts and this is his 2nd gathering..he must have gotten over 2 dozen of the cutest outfits, toys galore..lucky little one.

Dianne we had same kind of weather, love fall weather. I don’t know that i would enter
a home there are dogs in without the home owner advising me it’s ok to come in. Our farmers market didn’t happen this year, is one on the way to midland, i buy a lot there. They are open early in the morning right? Might be a nice drive for you.

Some great pictures!

I got the binding on the dinosaur quilt today. Moving on....

Betty, I can't remember if the penguin SS was a surprise or not. It seemed to me it wasn't based on the background was 'their choice" and not what you would have picked out if my memory serves me right. Is this the first time they got to see the finished product? You put a lot of work into it.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Thanks for the photos Betty. Looks like it was an awesome party.

Victoria Harbour, ON

No Pat, that was Sharon’s piece, i had bought a beautiful blue with that had wispy clouds, she wanted lighter blue…i don’t like it..

They loved the penguins

Victoria Harbour, ON

Morning all, coffee and cereal for breakfast and I’m needing to get grass cut but way to wet, maybe around 10-11 I’ll get it done..in the meanwhile I’m thinking of taking out some fall totes..can use wheel barrel to take them to house..I’d like to say I’ll get my windows done with that hose spray winder but that is staring to be overkill for the days

What are your plans for the day?

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Good morning.
Not doing much, other than mop the floors, and dust. Staying close to hubby. All he wants to do is sleep.

Victoria Harbour, ON

That is not good news Lindakay, has his blood been checked recently? With so mush weight loss you must be beside yourselves.prayers coming and arm wraps for you as Judy would say.

Brought in 7 totes of fall, can barely find a place for it all..found 2 pieces I had been working on and never finished..room is colourful though

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

He just did blood work. Teleconference with doctor is the 1st.
Amazing how much we accumulate through the years.

Victoria Harbour, ON

You would think an off of earth visit would be needed, can’t see how a phone/video consultation could give them accurate diagnosis.

Greg & Noah were here for a visit, gorgeous day to be ridding, Greg on his spider and Noah on his motorcycle, had been to Bala, bracebride and gravenhurst, you would know the region, beautiful cottage country..couldn’t talk them into staying as they had eaten at a roadside food truck and they were off to clean their swimming pool and hot tub the off to their trailer for a swim and bbq. Don’t understand it, have everything at home!

Didn’t catch me taking 7 fall totes in, didn’t even comment on why I’m already decorated for fall…i will wait til next week to tackle outside..did do the porches though.

Marie just brought me peaches and tomatoes just turning red , the way i like them so 2 sandwiches later I’m guessing I’ll not need supper.

Got to say to me yesterday and today were the most perfect of days, suppose to have a few feel like 100°f days this week.

Spray painted and rusted 3 metal pie plates this morning, should be dry, best i go get them and hope the squirrels didn’t run away with the cinnamon

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Lab work and teleconference is with his kidney doctor on the 1st.
On the 8th, we have to go to Uvalde, an hour away for more thorough lab work and office visits for his oncologist.
Pretty sad, I keep adding more and more doctors numbers to my phone. Specialists for everything.

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

Yes, you & Todd are NOT that old, but as we age it seems our whole calendar fills with MD appointments. This year it was the dentist for me.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

I am 67, Todd will be 66 in November.

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

omgoodness....... we're all "of an age". I turned 68 last March!

Victoria Harbour, ON

Morning, storm is brewing, torrential rain, say it could be a dilly so Dianne batten down might be heading your way.

Lindakay, glad Todd has these appointments, hopefully it will lead to his gaining more strength. Uvalde, is that the town so many lost their lives?

We had a terrible accident, police found 6 under 20 killed in a car accident outside Barrie. They had posted photos of the kids day before as missing..must have been a back road nobody travelled. Poor parents..

here i am on the couch laying down as though I’ve nothing to do..must get myself off and get something done.

Hmmmm have a fear things that would take little effort, best I find one I can do while sitting upstairs watching t.v.

Betty what is the legal age you have to be to play at the casino ? A couple of reports I saw/read said they were at the casino on Sat. Such a tragedy.

Sun is shining. The humidex is crazy - I have the AC on because of it. Zeke is enjoying laying on the floor vent. Chaos is in a lot of pain today so is sprawled where he landed when we returned from or walk. I've just given him some meds so they will soon kick in. I am going to try and sneak Zeke out for another walk in a few minutes. Wish me luck !! Think we will try and go for a swim. I'll take some shampoo so I can clean Zeke up. He decided to go into 1 of the swamps that has some algae on the surface earlier this morning.

There is the big Garlic Festival this weekend in the village. I might stop in but I want to go to Fantasy in the Forest sometime over the weekend. I want another piece of art from Lisa Ferguson. I have 1 now that is a fox laying in trilliums and want another fox print to join it on the wall. Our fox came by last night. I left some hot dogs out for it and he gobbled them right down. I understand they like eggs too.

My big excursion of the day was to Foodland to get Mango popsicles. I really enjoy them so stocked up as they were on sale.

Sending positive thoughts to you and Todd LK.

Karen I hope you get another offer soon. The housing market has really slowed down here in Ontario with the insane prices people were asking dropping radically.

Had visitors yesterday - 2 ladies who used to work for me when I had the SG business. We hadn't seen each other since Covid started in 2019. We sure had a lot of catching up to do.

Stay safe, well and hydrated.

What's everybody's plans for the long weekend ?

We have had some deaths of pets due to BAD water conditions. I could not find the more recent reports, but I think this article sums it up pretty good, although it relates to 2021. https://www.opb.org/article/2021/09/17/six-dogs-sickened-or-dead-near-the-tri-cities-all-thought-to-have-recent-contact-with-columbia-river/ After those deaths I have been rather nervous about all algae.
Dianne, I can relate, it has been so good to finally catch up with friends we have missed now due to Covid.
from google: How old do you have to be to gamble in Canada? You have to be 19 in most Canadian provinces, regions or cities to bet, except for Alberta, Calgary, Manitoba, Montreal, Ottawa and Quebec where the legal gambling age is 18.

What a tragic loss of life, young adults with so much ahead of them.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Sure is a tragedy, I do believe it’s 19..Barrie news posted a photo of one of them, likely the elder and said he was their sports coach..it also said the township had been working on the road and that when they were found the car was deep in the trench so maybe at 80 clicks the wheel catching the shoulder would certainly cause the deaths..hoping it’s that and not from drink.

What is Fantasy in the Forest Dianne? Did you get the storm? Our stopped about 10:30 and weather liars said it would start up again around 3 but so far looks good.
How old is Chaos? Yep, likely in the heat 2 walks is too much.

Thanks for the link Pat

Well I did good, the 2 throws the little girls are doing has so little left..know they couldn’t do the sewing of the binding so I got it done for them, took good part of the day.

Spaghetti cooking, i will have early supper and maybe work on my swag, don’t want to go to bed to early.

Pat and June come in the morning then a student at 1:00 so it won’t i won’t stay up til 11

Should be like Dianne and turn on A//C,,didn’t feel the heat while in the basement but now i am upstairs i can feel it.

Meant to say I heard of all the tragedy stateside as pray for all those families that lost loved ones..from shoot8ngs to knifing, can’t believe what is happening…we don’t have to start wars, we are killing ourselves.
