Quote from taters55 :
Betty, check out this fabric shop in Canada. They have some great prices.
https://www.dinkydoo.com/collections/sale-fabric
They are just above Washington state. I believe that is where Susan is?

I actually live above Montana, and the border is 3 hours from me. Washington state is above BC.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Thanks for clearing that up Susan.
Betty, sorry to hear your legs were bothering you. I hope you call and tell your doctor.

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

I wish I were right above Washington State. Bellingham is there, and I know a lot of Canadians would go there for shopping, once upon a time. Not sure if that's the case now though. Southern BC is lovely this time of year, I hear.

Betty - how are your legs now? I'll bet you were frightened when you couldn't move, no phone nearby & no one there! You really need some kind of lifeline, even if you can't wear one around your neck. I worry about you, as does everyone else here, I know.

Well, today was our Open House at our senior's centre, and with our MP coming, it was lovely. Unfortunately we had a poor attendance with the residents. Only 9 of us showed up, and only one wasn't a regular. He just moved into the area 9 days ago, and isn't quite a senior, but is a very nice fellow.
Our MP, Damien, was very personable, and we had a lovely chat with him. He said he could only stay 1/2 hour, but ended up staying an hour :)
A poor showing, but we got a picture with him and we seniors, and I will keep trying to get the people of our hamlet to sit up & take notice. It may take quite awhile, but I'm up to the challenge.

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

Forgot the picture. I'me the one immediately to his left, in the black, white & blue dress.

All groups start out small. You have done a wonderful job.

Surgeon was in this morning, he is going to talk to the GI surgeon, and if he agrees, we might be able to go home tomorrow. They are going to change his meds for his stomach to see if it works better than what he has been on.
Please say your prayers, that the new meds work.

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

Lovely picture Susan, it was shame there were not more people in attendance but hang in there, "They will come".

Linda, Yes, lets hope & pray new meds will do the trick for Todd. I am praying that Todd's doctors will be lead to the right treatment for him, that he will heal quickly.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Afternoon, sunny day here although wind cools things down.

Was up at 6:00 this morning, set alarm to make sure I did not sleep in..
A few weeks ago Linda asked me if I would make her 3 pillows that she wants to send to her grandson out west..he just got married and passed, now an RCMP officer, of course I wasn’t sick when I asked, she got here at 7:30am, we stopped for lunch and had them done by 2pm. What a bit of luck, i was showing Linda the bag of teddies still with tags on that Darlene gave me, well didn’t Linda find amongst the teddies an rcmp teddy, she was thrilled.

Just took meds so it’s couch day for me, eyes are heavy!

Lindakay, Todd isn’t eating though is he? Know you both want to be home but with his body levels out of whack it sounds dangerous. I’m sure doctor knows best. Think i i asked before, are there good doctors close to you that you can make regular visits should he need care?

Susan, being recreation co ordinator for over 20 years that was the hardest part, working so hard and the expense to have so few attend. I always said, i could do my monthly newsletter and list dozens of events and activities and everyone would be happy but few attend.

Does look like those in attendance enjoyed it..you look spiffy..the Banner looked professionally done.See you snuggled next to Damien.

Kitted up and braved the mosquitoes. The lawn is finally completely cut and all the weed whacking is done. Tomorrow I will take the leaf blower and tidy up plus I have an area that I didn't get cleaned up in the fall. I looked like a dork but was able to not get bit. I sure was sweaty by the time I was done but a cool shower fixed that. What a relief as I am still covered in bites some the size of my thumb nail. Benadryl isn't working either orally or by spray. Sorry for moaning so much about the bites.

Guess I could have gone for a swim but didn't even think of it.

Pat I forgot to mention what a good laugh I had about your dad's saying about the mosquitoes in Alaska. I'll remember that. I am positive there will be a time I can use that here. I'll give your dad credit for it though.

Betty did the hydrocone cough syrup help ? For years I had a bottle of it in the cupboard as I was the bronchitis queen. It was the only thing that helped. Sure hope it worked for you.

Any news from Judy ? Wonder how she is feeling.

Chaos and I are having a great time doing and going places together.

LK any update on Todd ? Sending positive thoughts and prayers.

Susan I am so glad you are keeping busy.

Finally got a Bell rep who could help me this morning. I haven't been able to access my email for a few weeks. I've talked to a couple of supervisors but I think the agents I had been speaking to just swiveled their chair around and renamed themselves as supervisor.

Deb how are you doing ?

My back is really aching this afternoon so I think I will go lay down on the floor for awhile. It helps ease the pain.

Stay safe and well.

Verona, ON

Sharon I forgot to mention LV is featured a lot on the news. I'm a newsie so the TV is almost always on a news channel. You really are in a crisis situation.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Could cry, just lost a long post to Dianne

I’ll highlight..drats

You must’ve kept all the mosquitoes to yourself because there’s barely any here, lucky me

There are some people skaters seem to attack more than others, Roger had a heckuva time with mosquitoes and yet they hardly bit me. Jeff is like me rarelybitten and Greg’s like Roger can’t be out anywhere where there’s bugs because they’ll go to him right away

Does chaos seem calmer of late?

Lordy, lake must be really cold

As for Hydrocone I only took it a few times because I’m worried what it might do when I’m taking all my regular pain meds, likely why I still Have the cold.Did you say to leave it out of the refrigerator so should I get another cold I’ll have some meds rather than bothering the doctors. I’ll post a photo of a post that came in with regards to our hospital.

There were so many people at the butter tart festival Saturday, not sure why the only thing being sold were butter tarts and I’m sure in this area all the farming people make butter tarts but I guess it was an outing after Covid

LINDA and I were grounded in front of the TV as well this morning watching the news, terrible situation.

Singing Happy Birthday Lindakay..

Best gift you can get is getting Todd home.

Hope there is something in your day that brings sunshine and enjoyment

Happy Birthday, LindaKay!!

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Betty. No, our town doesn't have any specialty doctors. All are a 3 hour drive. Pretty sad. He hasn't been able to keep any foods down. Just liquids. Tea, juices... I did bring him a vanilla malt this afternoon. He drank a few sips, and it didn't bother his stomach. First time for dairy products, so that is good. Praying the new meds continue to work and we get good news tomorrow.

Thanks for the birthday wishes.
My son sent flowers for me. They are so pretty.

♫♪Happy Birthday, LindaKay! Lovely flowers :)

Rec Director for 20 years, Betty? Wow! It was raining yesterday at the beginning of the Open House, so "maybe" that's why more didn't come? Today one of our members returned home & came for coffee - she said this is what she expected, hardly any showing up. Oh well, I will soldier on and have more outtings, etc. MAYBE that will draw some more. I won't give up.
I finally got out & mowed my lawn, front, side & most of the back. I say most, because the gas mower decided to conk out when I had a 6ft strip left lol I have some long clippers & used them for the 6ft, then for trimming all my shrubs and lawn pots. Quite the job. I didn't get it raked, but I was DONE IN, so put away the lawnmower & was gathering up stuff to bring in when I felt a few drops. I was inside when the heavens opened up & let down a downpour! Seems to be over now, but what timing, eh?
Bob's court date was today, and he's gotten a lawyer. They've remanded it to June 20th (next Monday) when a trial date SHOULD be set.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Lindakay, did he go to San Antonio Hospital by ambulance? Is it be easy to get an appointment should Todd need one? So many questions but I ask because I worry about you getting help should you need one..you are brave to take him home without being able to eat solids. Great he held down dairy products..

Love the flowers, favourite colours are purple and yellow, bet it warmed your heart.you sure deserve them..hope Todd didn’t think they were get well flowers lol

Susan, thank goodness he finally got a lawyer..now comes the remands… does the court provide you with the info?

Nothing worse than getting 3/4 done when the lawnmower gives out. Is your trimmer gas or battery.. i can no longer use my gas one, wayyy too heavy. I try to cut grass right near the beginning of spring so i don’t have to rake. Do you still have the rv in your drive? Don’t doubt you will give up on trying to bring the group numbers up.

Yes, think it was 24 yrs being rec coordinator, the township was one of the largest and had 6 cottage associations i had to plan for summer programs..don’t know how i did it..likely why i never stop.

Speaking of flowers i could not believe Linda went out and bought 10 hostas as she had someone come make a side bed along walkway to back yard..here most of mine need dividing.. needn’t have cost for $140. ..shaking my head.

Came to bed for a few hours when my tummy said it was hungry, took Bagel and hot chocolate outside, walked gardens and picked some weeds and imagining how pretty it will be when they open. So peaceful this time of year.. am hoping to work most of the day outside.. that cement piece i made with the laying down gnome is a lot bigger than i thought..i made it far too deep, pretty but where will it go?? Want to Ho out when it darkens to see if this beads. Light up like they are suppose to.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Betty, we drove to San Antonio. We have surgeons and family doctors, and they can take care of what may pop up, but if it's serious, we will have to drive to San Antonio. He will be on a liquid diet for a few weeks, and some soft foods as tolerated. Peaches, applesauce...
Susan, sounds like you over did yourself. That was a lot of work.
Thanks for the birthday wishes.
Judy just called me to say happy birthday. She is doing ok. Still having problems walking. Still seeing specialists to figure it out.

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

!happy Birthday LindaK, happy to hear Todd kept some malt down, that's a start.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Sunshine day in my neighborhood,

Lindakay, hope today is the day Todd can keep all down, he must have lost more weight. Glad you got to talk to Judy, thought after her last operation she would be running around the block by now. Is Steve’s mom still living with them?

Think I will just putz around and sit and enjoy the gardens, still didn’t wash the umbrella, hoping this morning I can scratch it of my list.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Good morning. Yes, Steve's mom is still there.
My birthday surprise when I got to my son's last night.

Well it's official, we listed our home last night. Agent is optimistic that it will sell for even higher than listed.
I've been sick since last Friday. No clue what is going on. Started by throwing up and never had a desire to eat more. Just wanted to sleep. Finally Sun. Walt coaxed me into eating a bit of orange sherbet. Yesterday he made a pot of soup and I got down about half a cup.
We will be going to MI next week and do some house looking. Plus it's the party for Brendan before he's deployed and the first I get to see him in over a year.

Todd won't be going home anytime soon. Lab work is still critically low. Don't know what else they can do.
Karen, are you selling your home in Tennessee?
Moving back to Michigan?
Praying you are feeling better soon.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Prayers for bothTodd and Karen, always add their spouses.may God grant them well deserved miracles…amen

Sorry Karen to hear that you’ve been unwell, hope you are up to travelling. Are you wanting to buy North again, remember those winters..guess you miss your family!
Will the kids living with you move North as well. Do properties sell quickly i your region?

In a way Lindakay it’s better getting the news than thinking you will be going home any day. Are you getting your meals from hospital? Don't want you getting sick on
us, hugs

Love the cake, very creative.

Would be difficult for Judy feeling unwell and looking after Steve’s mom..

Don’t know if it did any good washing the trio umbrella but it’s done..hot here and yet cool inside and ac not on. Sat outside for an hour, Dianne your skitters found my place.

Off to cook supper

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

Kids will be staying here, They love it and her ex would never let the kids move even though he barely sees them. They are still in High school so they want to keep in district.
I like it here. I just fee to far from my family. I worry we won't be able to travel as much whit Walt getting older and now a problem with his vision.

Linda, I do hope they get Todd on the road to mending. Some of that can be very frustrating to treat. Sometimes the body just refuses to maintain good levels of needed vitamins and minerals. I know it's hard for you to be away from your family now too.
I really need my family for the time I have.

Victoria Harbour, ON

I totally understand Karen, worth dealing with winter to get to see family more often.hope it sells quickly..to bad the kids couldn’t purchase it, would make life simpler.

Kyle dropped in for lunch today, was nice seeing him..now he has the trailer at the lake and Greg and Melanie also at their trailer don’t get to see them as much…i certainly understand, had my days to enjoy such things, now it’s theirs.

Must take a ride and see if the cemetery took out those 2 shrubs/trees out from side of Rogers tombstone..need a tombstone wreath for Sunday

Did a bit more work on the Xmas pressie

Wow! looks like it could get exciting. Maybe find something to do downstairs for a while.

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

Betty - every time he has a court case I don't need to go, but Victim Services calls me same day to let me know what's happened. I only go to his trial dates, not the court dates. I hope he has a trial date SOON. It takes it out of me for a day & a half after another postponement, so I'm feeling quiet today.
LindaKay - it's the up & down of Bob's showing/not showing that wears me out, more than the work at Silver Willow and at Wellness. I'm a rather intense person, so work at those two groups is very therapeutic for me, and I sleep well at night lol
I just want this whole thing wih Bob OVER and done with. I need to move on with my life, and he keeps stalling me. Mind you, my daughter who was a paralegal in a criminal law firm says "welcome to the world of criminal law" when I say how things are moving so slowly. I just want him out of my life, and to get mandated anger management.

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

It's been crazy here with the rain. Calgary is in a state of emergency from so much rain, and Olds (nearest town to me) says no unnecessary use of water - no showers, laundry or running the dishwasher, until at least noon tomorrow because their grey water tanks are maxed out. And the WIND! Blew my car door out of my hand when I was getting out. I was glad I wasn't too close to the car next to me in the parking lot. Just putting plants into the trunk, and my hands were red with the cold wind. And this is the middle of JUNE! Ah well, the farmers are glad of the rain, I'm sure. It actually stops for a bit & I'm hoping that's enough to let the water soak into the ground before it pours again!

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

I don't eat at the hospital cafeteria. I did the first day he was admitted. I ate a salad, and 3 hours later I spent the next 30 minutes in the restroom. I do get a sweet roll and coffee in the morning, but my meals I find something nearby.

Stay safe everyone with those storms

Victoria Harbour, ON

Stormy morning..didn’t get the storm last night but it’s here this morning..says over next few days so maybe i will get to finish the stained glass piece.

Susan, guess ground can only take so much water, in a way worse than no water,
Now if all the rain doesn’t rot the grain for them.

Court system is endless, can’t imagine how it weighs heavy on your heart, here is hoping it will soon be behind you and you can totally get on with what the future will bring.

Lindakay, how is Todd this morning? Not the best place to eat, glad you are getting meals off grounds, an hours from the hospital a few times a day will give you some you time which you need.

Have heat and ac off and finding it’s cold in here, yawning away..perhaps I’ll grab a blanket and nap

Victoria Harbour, ON

Hope you all enjoyed the day..

I just went and out the umbrellas down as the wind is picking up and they are calling for bad weather..

Prayers for all in need..big arm wraps as Judy would say..

Las Vegas, NV(Zone 9a)

Still working on the house the DGD and honey are moving into July 4th. This should be the last day of fixing the landscape irrigation and grass. Still need to lay pavers next to veg garden beds. i also need to start a list of food they will need for first couple of days.

We are 99 today and no clouds in sight. We will be working in the back landscape, which faces East and has shade from 3 very large fruit trees. We finished last night at 9pm because it got dark. We would have finished but we found a broken irrigation line way deep in the back and we were not up to digging any more last night.

Betty,at least when you get a large storm you are forced to take it easy. We have a very large dumpster in front of the other house and it is full. Neighbors two houses down put some of their garbage in it.

Our neighborhood had 6 cars broken into late last week. 4 were unlocked and two had windows broken to get into them. We have security paroling the neighborhood 24/7 but they know how to hide.

Susan, I hope your book on this disaster has a happy ending.

Karen, I am pleased for you that you are moving closer to family and doctors. My granddaughter put their condo on the market Saturday in St Louis and it sold that day. Only problem is they want to move in July 24, which will not be easy for her with two young babies and husband on rotation to determine where he will do his residency. They may end up in St Louis but said condo was to small, so they needed to move even if it is in the same city.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Today was pretty rough.
I had to go home yesterday, as I had to bury one of our dogs that passed. He was 14. Then came back to the hospital this morning. Todd was really confused and angry. Wanted to know why he hasn't seen me in days. Doctors said it's because he is still critically low on potassium. They had to give him a sedative to calm him down. He wanted to leave the hospital and go home now! So sad to see him this way.

Verona, ON

Oh LK sending huge hugs. What a lot to go through!! My deepest sympathy on the loss of your dog. Your heart already heavy must be breaking.

Sending positive thoughts and prayers that today will be better for Todd and yourself.

Betty did the storm hit you ? I was already - generator gassed up, Coleman lamps ready, bathtub full of water and nothing other than some rain. Not even enough rain to leave puddles. Not complaining though. Ontario Hydro even sent out an alert to expect power outages. If the storm did hit it was nowhere near me.

My fingers are not managing to hit the keys they are supposed to so will be back later.

Thank you.
I have had enough of these emotional roller coaster rides. I will be glad when it's over

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

Oh Linda, huge hugs. Just when you think it can't get worse, something else slams you. You have been so very strong my friend.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

It's been a long tough 4 weeks.
Only God has given me the strength.
Thank you all for the prayers.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Morning, looked at the clock, yes still morning..

Linda Kay there are no words, condolences on the passing of you dog, hard to take for sure..exactly what I called December of 1990, largest roller coaster ride I would never want to take..one morning on a high all doing well, by mid afternoon , the lowest one can get, up again etc etc..Don’t even was to think about that time..a few of us have been through similar, all similar but same if that makes sense. Arm wraps..praying that things get better for you. it will get more difficult when all you want to do is put your arms around them and they make you feel it’s all your fault..such hard times…. In the Lord’s hands,he does work in mysterious ways..may he give you strength.

Dianne we did have quite the thunderstorm early yesterday morning..so loud.. all for about a half an hour. I was up at 6:30am, wanted to get some chores done seeing as my cousin Breda and her disband are coming tomorrow morning..the have a travelling camper so we’re coming my way..we were raised on same block..me, Linda and Brenda..anyway didn’t want to cut grass till 8:30am, didn’t want to disturb neighbours..just got grass cut and down came the rain. An hour later sun came out.. got trimming done and down came the rain…warning I’m told for our region, sooo muggy, hoping no damage. Marie who lives right next door had no tv/internet yet I did.
Like you Dianne generator is ready should I need it.

Didn’t have breakfast but should have lunch seeing I have a 10 yr old coming nation 2-4 and one at 5-7 so need some energy food..
