Thanks for the new room Betty.
82 today. Not too hot yet. But they are predicting our first 100 temp day for middle of next week.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Good morning everyone.
Weather man says it will be close to 100 today.
Guess we had a very short spring and jumped right into summer.
Betty, I hope you are doing better today.
A couple of my latest quilt tops. Completely scrappy quilts.

Light rain here, 41f

Pat isn’t coming today as she is still unwell, her 2nd week, June takes it day by day and said this morning she had tipi try and getting paper work done for the lawyers. Regardless if one thinks they have all in order re death the government comes up with new requirements.

Called doctors office yesterday to make appt for my injections next month, asked about where the specialist office is, she said she saw no note of one being requested for me grrrr

I did get off that pill that was causing me problems but i guess I’ve learned that pain is much worse so started taking it this morning.
Will have to see wha t doctor recommends on the 22nd.

Also am down from something mom did at Sharon’s birthday party at the Mandarin..I am still angry about it..have to keep saying she is 90 why argue but it’s really made me ill..evil person

Posted before I said how lovely those quilts are, great to make something with one has, decrease the scrap pile while making a treasure. i especially like the heart..was this a pattern or did you create it?

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

Me too!!! That heart is a VERY

unique and I REALLY like it. I have never seen one with the tiny 9 patch bordering the heart, very clever. I may have to try something similar one of these days. BEAUTIFUL Linda! I don't have the patience for the itty bitty squares, I admire your devotion Linda.

We have had wind warnings and Adam dogs have gotten out TWICE, 3 times if you count when they got out of the kennel but did not leave the yard! I hope he is out there fixing fence and doing WHATEVER it takes. We live less than one house from busy street and they have NO traffic sense.

I spend all day yesterday piecing together a quilt back. I was trying to follow the suggestion of Karen Brown's "After quilt" of the "Just get it done quilts" and making a back out of all the leftover quilt fabric. I will try ONE more today for the dinosaur quilt and if it does not go a WHOLE lot faster than the last one, I will go back to buying 108 wide backings!

Keepsake quilts had 3 yards of 108 camouflage for just $23!!! Since I did not know what I was going to use it on, I did not order any. It would make good backing for jean quilts so I may have to rethink that.

Our weather has been crazy, gets into the 70s and drops to mid-30s at night. The new area I was developing has bulbs in blooms. My tulips out front are in bloom too and the clematis is growing like CRAZY putting on new growth. I have not yet clipped the dead foliage from last year.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Beautiful tulips Pat. They don't grow here. Not cold enough.
The heart quilt is just from a picture I found.
Betty, I would have given that person an earful for not having the specialist lined up.

Granddaughter has ducklings hatching in her incubator.
First just one and then a bunch,

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Awe! They are so cute.

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

Ohhhhhhhhh.... look at the little sweeties!!

OK, am I totally nuts for considering turning the "After Quilt" that I have been making for the dinosaur quilt into a quilt top instead? Keepsake Quilting had some camouflage print 3-yard 108 wide fabric on clearance for $24 and then had a promo for 30% off of clearance!!! So I could back this for just $16. I want to make some quilts for the homeless shelter for teens. I want the quilts to be dark enough to not easily show dirt. I LIKE bright colors and prints but I am afraid that some teens might shy away from my design as too juvenile. My guys have never minded juvenile prints. It is not quite big enough, it will have more areas of solid black above and below the current strips of print. The black/gray fabric is not nearly as "patterned" in person, it looks black/black, not gray.

NEED YOUR OPINION!!! Finish it and use as the backing of the original dinosaur quilt, or use it as it's own top of new quilt??

Thumbnail by psychw2
Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

I vote "own top new quilt. Too nice for a backing.

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

Those tiny scrap quilts.......... couldn't they just be strip sewn, then sewn together, and then cut again? You'd then "jog" them over by one colour (square) and keep doing that until you had a large piece & then cut into squares. That's how I was taught to do "Quilt in a day" in my 20's

Tomorrow is Bob's trial & I have to be in town for 9:00. I didn't sleep well last night. Finally got to sleep at 4:30 & woke up at 7:40. I had sat & read a book and had a glass of wine to calm my racing mind. Didn't work very well, even with sleeping pills.......

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

Hang in there Susan, I know we are all praying for this to be resolved and you get EXTRA peace & serenity, complete with restful, restorative sleep.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

I vote for new quilt top.

Susan, the scrappy quilt was made from scraps cut down that we have had for years. Save your scraps, cut them down to usable sizes. When you have enough, we made them into 16 patches. I put a sashing around each of mine.
The purple heart quilt is the same way. All from scraps saved for years.

Morning, 43f, rain started just as Greg,Mel and Noah came for a visit last night and just let up, thrilled to see the grass showing shades of green. Sun is doing its best to come out so i might go out when it warms up a tad and try to rake the front gardens, won’t be a lot to it because I had fall yard work done.

Linda Kay are you still getting 100 degree weather? Darlene said they are all packed up and coming home tomorrow morning, can’t take the heat..are they in for a shock here..not really, next week although rain most days it will be in high 50’s

Oh Karen look at those Easter ducklings, so cute..special time in little ones life to be able to see the birth. You feeling better.

Susan, not a wonder you could not sleep..prayers are with you today, won’t be an easy time for you..it’s hard to believe a marriage with a man whom you loves so much could end up in a court room. We will be waiting to hear you are ok, sure hope it’s not remanded. Hugs

Hate to think Linda Kay all those totes of scraps with such quilts will ever get used up, can hear my kids no when they have to clean up,’what to heck did she think keeping all this crap’ lol. I made one years year ago, forget the name, maybe Film at Nine? Pretty

Maybe I could have my little boys make a Christmas throw, first maybe check out my fall scraps.

I would use it on back of quilt if for someone special but it would make a beautiful top for sure.

Deb, did you have your test yet, any results?

Dianne are you getting the sunshine today, TH will be loving it.

Sharon haven’t seen you post in quit a bit, how are you doing?

Taking it easy, small bites into different projects..

Hoping to finish about 4 rolls on Suzanne’s quilt and off the frame it comes, border I will design and do on my regular machine

Have my black metal paint so I can paint the came on the stained glass piece

The gardens 3 in front ✅ but going to pay, sitting with Dr, Ho..feels great to be gardening

see if i can finish the last mini pieces on the Georgian bay scene

Sounds like a lot, we will see, could result in nothing

Want to look through what I do not have backing for and other needs as I might finally get to Joanns on Wednesday

Already have my booklet out adding “Mother’s Day “to do”list

I am rambling, just took some heavy meds, making me ramble on and maybe thinking i can accomplish much more than i can

Enjoy your day

Good morning.
No our 100 temp was only the one day. Our Temps are in the 80's and 90's now.
Beautiful quilt. Scraps never seem to end.

Verona, ON

Sending positive thoughts and prayers to Susan today. We're all here supporting you.

It's chilly here and lots and lots of rain. No sign of the sun Betty.

The TH are begging for a walk but I know once I get kitted up and we start out they will run home.

Just moved to another room. I was sitting in the recliner by the wood stove and started to get sleepy. Certainly will need to get wood for next year. If this weather keeps up I will have very little wood left.

Stay safe and well.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Susan, keeping you in our thoughts as well.
Keeping us updated please.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Drats, wrote a post then went out to pick last wheel barrels of leaves and acorns, the didn’t send..big sigh

Your rain came hereDianne for all but 2-3 minutes, sun is back out.
You had a lot of cords of wood Dianne, did you use more than in previous years?
Is your ice out? Always worry about dogs being caught on ice breaking off.

Have a 12 year old coming to sew after class tonight, wants to do bowl cozy’s so best I go look what fabric I have for her and clean up my glass cutting table

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

Court was a non-event. Bob didn't show up. His lawyer told the Crown Prosecutor that Bob had the dates mixed up & didn't realize that court was today. His lawyer has "fired" Bob. The CP said it's very unusual for a lawyer to fire his client. If neither of us had shown up, the Crown would have thrown the case out & dismissed the charges. Because *I* showed up, the Crown will go forward & schedule another trial date. There is now a warrant out for Bob because he didn't attend the Court. Perhaps he thought I wouldn't attend, I don't know. The warrant isn't one where they'll track him down, but if they see him (like out in his car, driving), they'll pull him over & arrest him. This isn't the first time he's missed a court date.
The Crown Prosecutor showed me the courtroom, and where I'd be sitting, etc.
LOL I got lost trying to find the town, but it was easier to find the courthouse once I got there. Small town, and all the streets are #d. It took me 1 hour, when it should have been 1/2 hour. Good thing I left at 7:50am, to be there for 9am. I arrived at 8:50 & court was at 9:00. I met Haley from Victim Services in the parking lot & we sat in the Witness' Room while waiting. I will get reimbursed for all my fuel costs for as many times as I have to show up. Bob had trouble getting a lawyer in the first place (4 firms turned this case down) so I doubt he'll get another.
I don't know (or care, actually) how the rape charge *she* laid on him went, but I'm not going to let him get away with assault on me.
I have NO idea when they'll reschedule his next trial date. All depends on the court calendar.

Well Susan that is the pits, hope someone is watching where he is and calls police. I so hoped it would be over and give you peace of mind…likely that is why he didn’t show up, thought you wouldn’t and he would get off scot free..wrong!

How to heck did he ever get in this mess?

Doesn’t the government provide you with a lawyer if you don’t have one or money to hire one?

Lily did well, she has sewn before
Made 2 of the set of 4 she wants to do

i will have to make some for myself, always grabbing a hot bowl.
She was please with her bowl cozies because it’s something her mom wanted.

Thumbnail by Bettypauze
(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Sorry to hear about your court today. But I think his lawyer messed up, by not making sure Bob knew about his court date.
Love the bowl cozies Betty.

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

I think Bob wasn't reading his emails from his lawyer. He never was good at checking email. I also think he blew up (yes, Bob has a temper) at the the lawyer, and that's why he "fired" his client, Bob. He showed his temper to the constables. When it dawned on me that this is why he doesn't have a lawyer anymore, I got even more frightened about what could have happened to me, and how alone I am here in my house.
This was his free lawyer, through Legal Aid. This lawyer had to come from Calgary, about 3/4 of an hour drive, to be at Bob's trial.

Playing with courts is not a good thing
Maybe you should get one that notifies you when someone is near your home?
I am sure you are disappointed.

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

Betty, Lily did a fine job with the bowl cozies. I use them a lot. I'm sure her mom will be so pleased with them.

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

yeah, I'm disappointed, and even more so when I don't know when the remand will be for. He'd better not try to stall until he can find a new lawyer............

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

I am sorry to hear that Bob was a no show, so this mess drags on, but not surprising. Is the restraining order still in place?

I have all the stuff to make the cozies & still have not done it... oh well! Maybe this year? (Or maybe not!) I spent the afternoon at Marie's, caught up on my laundry, repair guy said about 7 business days before he can get the parts. Marie & I worked more on sorting her fabric and downsizing. We need to clear enough space in the room for the longarm set up on 4/26.

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

Until his court date, there is to be NO contact and at the court date they will make a further decision. I've told them that I want NO contact at all with him, ever.
I thought I would be better, but today I'm crying. I hope he isn't going to make me wait while he gets a new lawyer.

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

Susan, I don't know what the courts will do. If the judge understands that he CAN'T get & keep a lawyer because he is being such a JERK (I cleaned up my language for this post), maybe they will consider moving forward without a lawyer!

Victoria Harbour, ON

Our courts are so backed up Lord only knows how long it will take…you must be so frustrated, not a wonder you are crying..he is not visiting the she witch in the park is he? Is he suppose to have someone pick up the motor home?

Goes from a light rain and overcast to sunshine, got the side , should go pick them up, keep thinking tomorrow sounds good.

Mom phoned, her neighbour she hangs out with with has Covid, she is quarantined for a bit, here is hopingshewintcomeupforaeaster..aren’t I terrible

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Hang in there Susan. Waiting is the worst thing.
Betty, praying your mom doesn't come down with covid.

northeast, IL(Zone 5a)

I had a doctor's appointment yesterday, and got some good news! Such a relief! The mass on my kidney is a benign cyst. She said there is 0 chance of cancer!! I was a wreck all week, waiting for that news! I was mentally preparing myself for surgery, trying to work out who could take some of the dogs temporarily. It's still there, and I have a large kidney stone on that kidney, but, she said as long as it doesn't bother me, we're not going to mess with it. She wants to do imaging again, in a couple months.

We're getting cold rain, mid 30's, with chance of snow tonight.

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

THAT is GREAT news Deb!

Victoria Harbour, ON

Oh Deb, what great news, many it not bother you..can imagine how difficult it was planning for the dogs, work etc. Bet you wanted to dance all the way home. Good news for sure.

I had a terrible time when i was in my late teens/early adulthood, i have an 1/8th and just under 1/2 of the other..had surgery and they told me they would leave the 1/8th one in so if the stronger one acted up it would support me until they could get me a kidney..well here i am over 50 years and no troubles, may you be same.

Sharon, update please, wondering how you are doing..

Ziggy and I slept all afternoon, now I am thinking I’d how much I could have done..
TV dinner ready to eat then bedtime..maybe read a bit

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

Stanley was not feeling good, he threw up a couple of times on Wednesday morning, didn't eat his food Wednesday or Thursday but is fine today, his normal, crazy self! And hungry!!! LOL
Grandaughter started her yard sale this morning. I hung around and helped set up, etc. I am grateful she got Adam's KEG and kegerator sold among other things!! It's the pits having something like that in your garage when you don't condone drinking at all! LOL LOTS of stuff GONE!!!! I am excited, on to phase #2.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Praise God for the good news Deb.
Pat, I know it feels good to get rid of stuff to free up space.
Betty, take care of yourself. Praying you hear from the specialist soon.
Latest scrappy quilt. Put the squares on point.
