Moved us over seeing February is at our doorstep..
We came from here:

Best/Worse/What did I learn today? A blessing room for friends of old to Chat and a group that ALWAYS welcomes newcomers..come sit a spell!
Thanks fir the new room.
Sure can tell she is your sister. Both of you keep very busy.
Love those giraffes.
Betty, you and Sharon both wear me out.
LOL, that was what I was thinking as I read Betty's post. "Yep, those 2 are sisters!"
I was frustrated with grandson, Aiden, he did not come over Friday for our homework session. Then I learned he DID have homework and he put me off until Sunday afternoon. He worked a while "took a break"., said he wanted to do more of it in his bedroom. When I tracked him down, at 9, he was NOT done & was going to bed. I sat him down & we discussed the outcome of his not following thru and coming over as agreed. This assignment is big part of his grade.
It's been "14 weeks" (per Aiden & I think he is right!) and Aiden STILL has no appointment. I am going to ask son to get referral to Spokane MD. If the closer one won't schedule, fine. We will go seek appointment with someone else. The untreated ADD is simply making school so much harder for him then necessary. A drive to Spokane in the winter is not my idea of a good time but something has to be done.
Be back in a sec
Testing dryer..he came in and cut a bunch of hose from the back, took screen out and scrubbed and scrubbed, he think although i took lint out I should be scrubbing screen at least once a week or air can’t get thru so motor overheats and can’t get air..
Took lid off, says nice and clean, so that wasn’t the problem..says he can’t fix what isn’t broken..imagine
He just left $101.60 later, now to see if it shuts off or not
So far so good
Will call and cancel new one
Back to your post..
You have no idea, my siblings and my kids at NO time can just sit, if we do sit it’s because we can have something to do with our hands..right now I’m siting on heating pad, hand sewing binding..still more quilting to do but can do it with binding on.
Pat, must be frustrating to see a clear route and not see them follow suite.. did your grandson after your talk take in what you were trying to get him to understand the importance? smart idea to look for an appointment sooner..how far is Spokane from you? Toronto is 1 1/2 hrs from me, would it be same?
Debbie, Sharon booked appointment with new vet, 45 minute drive away vs 2 hr drive to her regular vet to have do-claws?? taken off..her regular vet charged $30 per dog..she did not ask how much at this vet, when she went to pay the bill it was $100+tax per dog..she wasn’t impressed.
Well best go check and see if dryer is still working
Wow!! $100 each?? That's ridiculous!! My vet charges vary depending on the size of the litter, but, it's 2 or 3 is one price total, 4 - 7 is another slightly higher price, they don't charge per pup. I assume a larger than 7 litter is a bit more.
Bet she'll be driving the 2 hours now!
Yes Debbie she says she will but i tried to make her feel better about it, said she saved 2 h D’s if her time and 1/2 tank of gas which at today’s prices is a lot..she best ask for an approximate quote next time.
Just put my bedding in washer, time for testing dryer again.. here is hoping
meanwhile I’ve 1 side of the throw to hand stitch and binding done..
Pat and June are coming in the morning if all is ok so will finish more of the quilting in the afternoon.
Mom hasn’t been well, I finally talked her into going to doctors..she has had a bad cough since Christmas, of course she doesn’t dress well when outside..she has X-ray this morning at 10, got a call from her doctor’s secretary saying doctor would call her late afternoon, he just called, she has pneumonia, has to go to his office at 9am.
When Nova had her puppies, Adam continued with his vet out of Dayton, an an hour away, it was only 20 or 30 pre dog, VS $100. With hunting dogs, it is a necessity to have those claws removed, they are an injury risk out in the brush.
Aiden did seem to take in what I was saying, and we'll do the best we can to get done today & take a hit for the penalty for being late. He's sad, he KNOWS he has difficulty concentrating and WANTS help. Spokane is more than 2 hours away but at least there are no mountain passes to worry about.
I had a co-worker on my lunch say to me "Don't you EVER just sit and do nothing?" I told her "no, not if I can help it!" I used to bring the doll clothes to cut out, elastic to string thru waistbands etc, That said, I can JUST SIT and READ. That has recently been taking WAY MORE TIME than I should allow.
I hope your dryer fix WORKS and you can afford the purchase of another. I had heard that certain dryer sheets create a coating on the screen that prevents the airflow even when it looks clean. That may be while the tech suggested you WASH that screen frequently.
Didn’t know the purpose of taking off the do claws..yes, Sharon thought it was way too expensive..they use laser and she said one needed 1 stitch which has never happened at her vet.
That is quite a hike but if it makes the driving test easier we’ll worth it..does he have a transport to take the test if he goes to Spokane?
Poor little one, hard when they have to struggle to get grades. Jeff did no studying, always clowning around in class and got A’s while Greg studied hard and ended up with B’s..in life they’ve both done well and both top of the line in their fields. It will work out, just need encouragement and help from grandma!
Think Pat that is why i don’t enjoy visiting, can’t just sit and do nothing so we are alike lol
I’ve just crawled into a fresh set of sheets, dryer worked
, here is hoping.
Could have bought a new one but I’m saving, want to put a new roof on the house this spring..am sure price of dryer would have paid almost 1/2 the price of shingles..
Pleased with my day, got all floors vacuumed downstairs, did a bit of quilting on the throw and hand sewed the border, made another heart so bed is well deserved..
When i had y bath and took off my slacks i checked mileage, unusually i do about 4-5 miles and today over 13
Love these kind of days..Sharon, my coleus is growing far more than I would like.read the label on calla lily box, says it will take 12 week for it to grow, seems a long time.
My angel trumpet starters are doing well
I offered to be the one that takes Aiden to Spokane. His Dad hopefully will be working full time driving and his step mom is in school. Add in the responsibility of kindergartener and the dogs needing to be let out, she really can't be gone ALL day. . I just want Aiden to get the evaluation and if it means me being the transport, I can live with that.
That Coleus is a MONSTER! WOW
I don't use softener sheets in the dryer. I use wool balls. They soften the clothes without leaving a residue. Softener is actually bad for towels. It makes them less absorbent. I have to keep them out of the reach of dogs as they think the balls are great toys. The ones I got were kind of expensive as they were from one of those home party things. However I have been using them for many years so all things considered not so costy after all. I know they are more available more places now too. I believe even Walmart has them. They also do not gunk up the filter screen on dryers.
I bought the wool balls and they worked fine but they only work if you have access to them. Sharing the house has its drawbacks, including members who don't return the wood balls to the dryer or place them on the shelf for reuse. Oh well.
Morning, getting warmer-11, cannot believe they are calling for rain tonight, that will be terrible..
Don’t think I’ve heard of wooden balls Pat..was up at 5:30, put garbage bins to roadside, did my daily to do, was stove drawer, luckily just after Christmas as i did it so only took 5 minutes..wanted to check dryer so seeing as i did sheets last night i did the quilt..yippee it worked.
I have a gnome embroidery perfect for a little girls door hanging like Pat wanted to do this morning but i found the cutest embroidery, will do a pillow with the once I’m doing right now..was hoping to have it done by 9 to show her, won’t happen?
Pat, I have a drawstring bag i keep the wool balls in. I do my laundry a separate day of the week. I use them and then put them back on the shelf. Nobody else can be bothered with them so they are safe there. Sharing a house is not easy at times. It takes consideration on everyone's part.
LOL, not wood, WOOL. Karen, I think you are right, just buying them again and only taking them with me & then storing them in my room would be the only way it would work. I don't do my laundry on a "separate day" but only do it when I can be here thru ALL the cycles, from wash to dry & return to my room. I also note whose clothes/what was washed BEFORE I wash. Their clothes are so full of dog hair, and in spite of me cleaning the washer & dryer, if I am not careful it transfers to my clothes. For a while I was so disgusted, I was doing my laundry at Marie's to avoid the issues.
More i think of it more i think I will live alone…lol
I do a load every morning, might only be the 1/4 load but do it anyway…this morning after dry8ng my bedspread i took out the lint trap, got rid of long and washed the screen.. go8ng to be a good girls.
Was helping the girls with manoeuvring the quilt while sewing and did a bit of mine, doesn’t take long for neck to act up so it’s upstairs to watch t,v for awhile.;want to fill 8n a few block on the white fabric so maybe once I’ve had lunch i will bring rulers and throw upstairs and play.
Morning all, -2 this morning with rain..rain hasn’t stopped Ziggy to go out and finally get some fresh air. Storm moving in later
Happy Ground Hog Day where everyday is the same, same day and same outcome.
Have my housework done, my ‘to do’ pick for the day is cleaning the 4 drawers in my coffee table so rather than get them done now I will do one on each of my breaks..Lordy amazing what one finds..maybe i will tidy it up, left the top of the coffee table and out the junk in the storage area lol
Will make another cup of coffee, have some porridge then head downstairs
What do you all have planned??
Been listening to dire warnings about snow, 12 inches plus. Looks like it will all go south of me. Some areas 30-40 miles south of Chicago have 7-8 inches from overnight, I've got maybe an inch. They're saying this morning maybe 3 inches more.
Good morning everyone. Dull gray day here. Waiting for the predicted snow storm to hit. Looks like a miserable 2 days weather wise.
I don't think Wiraton Willie will see his shadow. What do you think Betty?
Deb I hope the storm does miss you. It sounds like a doozy.
Get my booster at 10:30 so I hope the freezing rain doesn't hit us.
Stay safe, warm and well.
Deb, seems they are forecasting much same weather, hope the majority of the storm misses you.. did you have a difficult drive into work? So if you do get this snow are you able to work from home? How did you daughters trip go when weather was so bad and she was adamant to visit friends?
funny, now that Joe does everything for me I don’t worry about the amount of snow I get..i forgot to say I met his wife last weekend, nice lady…got to smile, he sent me a message yesterday, i will include.
Although the yard is like a skating rink they were out several times sanding so i decided to go to Home Depot and pick up a shower curtain rod, Lordy $41 and change, tad much..should charge Ziggy.
Cleaned the 4 drawers of coffee table and found some projects lol
Found the graph for q quilter with quilt block behind her, must be 30+ years old, didn’t find the canvas, think it was petit point I bought to do when I had my hysterectomy, something light to keep me busy, now to see if I kept the canvas which looks like I had done a good portion of the quilter…would mean searching all over for it, worth it you think? Then found some Penny rug circles ready for a rug, I will have to get Zip lock bag and store them as Ziggy is being mischievous, flicking them all over the place, found directions for quilted sweater, know I did knit 2/3 sets of sleeves, band and front button portion, know there is a ziplock bag with cut stripes for at least 2 sweaters…so tell me is it worth cleaning?? Only find more things to go. Grrrr
Took out spaghetti sauce, ‘now what is for supper..
Off to play, NO more cleaning
Looks like Ziggy is napping after this harrowing experience fighting with the shower curtain, poor kitty (NOT!).
I studied a few tutorials about the no-waste method of flying geese, my first attempt was not stellar. I will try again. I was hoping for a good chart that stated exactly the math for to determine ANY size block.
I am going to do the no-waste method for the star points on the Stargazer quilt. I think it is one of the projects I will take with me to Prosser. The stars are HUGE but I just think the quilt is so cute. My first will be Red/ white / blue.
He will sleep all day and play all night..he took a look at the blizzard outside and climbed on back of couch to make himself comfy.
I love that quilt design..if that is the block you say isn’t stellar I beg to differ..how is the EQ8 (??) going?
Dianne, don’t know if it made it to your area but a blizzard here..nope says 6 more weeks of winter..Marie was here the other day, we were talking about last years weather, imagine, i was out raking and burning branches in the middle of March from our conversations on here, heck it was April 7th when I did my pond….says we had a lot of 50’s and 60’s in March..hard to believe.
Best you get those heaters out then LindaKay..hooe you enjoyed you afternoon at church..is it 8n your town?
I’m sure with all the ice under this snow it will be treacherous.. hankering for poutine for supper but means I would have to walk to Pizza Palace, not worth my breaking a hip.
Odd, can’t find my sewing thread anywhere, sure hope i didn’t post something they didn’t want and cancel the thread?
I saw it the sewing thread, https://davesgarden.com/community/forums/t/1553933/ I assume you did find it as I did see a recent post from you.
Yes, Cats sleep more than 70% of any 24 hour period. Stanley likes it best if he can get to sit down so he can sleep ON me. 2nd best is RIGHT on top of what I am working on.
Waiting on Betty's storm to hit here. It looks like we are in for 48 hours of rain, freezing rain and snow. I got the front steps cleared right off and put out salt that is not harmful to the TH.
Got my booster shot this morning. I walked right in early and didn't have to wait. My 3 shots were all Moderna.
Deb I hope this nasty weather misses you entirely. How big are the pups now ?
It's almost 5 pm and it is still light out. Woo hoo !!
I am assuming Willie didn't see his shadow.
Stay safe and warm.
You are lucky Dianne, it’s bad here, can barely see the other side of the street, sure hope it passes you buy..i haven’t bought salt yet this year, with Ziggy not going out I just used table salt a few times. Where do you get your salt. Nope, 6 more weeks of winter but if you think about it our weeks are flying by, will soon be here.
Am sure they will come out with yet a 4th vaccine, i am all fir it if it keeps us well. My 2 are Pfizer..
Called mom, she sounds a tad better…meds are working.
Darlene just messaged me, John tested negative yesterday, plane landed about an hour ago..bet he is glad to be back in Florida. He is hoping his dad stays well over next few months, was an expensive trip to attend his FIL’s funeral, 2 tests, flight, rental car but worth it..he was very close to his deceased wife’s dad.
Awefully Valentines Day looking here
Your throw & table decor look so pretty!!
Thanks Pat
Susan hope you find us here… you are much kinder than I, his things would not have been packed in boxes. Glad to hear you are keeping busy, just don’t take on too much, you are still in the healing
Dianne, are you getting the storm, see they are asking toronto residenrp home tomorrow
Kitty
Just got up to peek outside, Lordy am I thankful i have Joe
Winter wonderland out there, glad I don’t have anywhere to go but know if I were to need to steps, walkways, and drive will be cleared and car will be cleaned snow.
Morning, 18f here this morning, overcast day but doesn’t call for snow, here is hoping?
Dianne and Deb did you get hit?
Jules who does the driveway double width with plow was here at 4am, township plow went by and Jules was back shortly after 5 to take the snow bank that township truck had made..had 5:30am Joe again and got his part done again cleaning my car and garbage bin area, will save Marie some shovelling, wanted to pay him but he said he would come back another time because his day was going to be a long one..
Again ask me if I am a happy camper..🥰
Finish my coffee and head downstairs for the morning, already did my jar ‘to do’ … was medicine cabinet so unless something happens i get to play until one.
Dr. land is suppose to call me at 1:40pm, sure hope he does..made a list of questions for him.
What will entertain you today?
We got maybe 4-5 inches yesterday, there was talk of another 1-4 inches overnight, but that went south of me.
I was out shoveling after work yesterday when two guys in a pickup with a plow stopped and pushed back the snow left at the foot of the driveway by the city plows, waved and went on their way. That was so nice, and saved me from shoveling the heaviest snow.
Oh Betty we are getting this storm. I can't see the lake or the lane.
Deb, don’t you live those random acts of kindness?? With all going on I’m seeing more kindness than I’ve seen in a long time…those banks the truck push into drives are quite heavy…you are blessed…are you going to work today?
Oh Dianne, feel for you..does your plow man come right up to the house on these heavy snow falls? A day to read a story to the TH
Betty, so very fortunate you found Joe and he's so dependable.
We are having rain and supposed to be 63 with flash flood warnings. My family in MI are getting buried in snow. Except for oldest son and family. They are in KY for wedding and hopefully will be here this weekend.
63 Karen is almost perfect weather for me..
Yes, this storm is hitting all over, if forecast is correct another 3-4 day of snow is predicted starting Sunday. Will they be with you more than a few days Karen, know you’ve been missing them. How are you feeling?
Remember me saying i had a hand towel and Saturday embroidered it in the wrong direction? Well before starting the kitty quilt i wanted to tidy up a bit..was in my hand for garbage and thought I would try something..not top notch but not for garbage bin either.
Cool for you, bet your heaters are working O/T
Likely tomorrow it will warm enough to melt ice on windshield? i buy a can of spray from Canadian Tire, spray it on windshield and ice just melts off.
So what project will you take on today?
