Good morning.
That's a lot of tape.
I am getting ready to go to the quilt shop. Going to work on my quilts.
Best/Worse/Whar did I learn Today? Chat with friends newcomers always welcome..come sit a spell!!
Sounds like fun Lindakay, how many do you have to do..am sure clients are resting for a tad so best get yours done
Karen and Dianne how are you both?
still blowing out, Marie came to visit and she helped me wrap the 3 tree sections..no Christmas left uptakes..maybe 5 totes downstairs to fill..sure feels good
That big coleus could pass as a Christmas tree in front window..
Sharon is working on winter Xmas panels while i am making tomato/rice/macaroni turkey soup, sure smells nice
Think I’m going to get cozy on the couch and just relax
Soup sounds good.
Glad you had help with the totes.
I have 2 quilts to get finished for belated Christmas gifts. I have 5 tops that are at the local quilt dhow. I pick them up next week.
I am here and still sick with a sinus infection. I will try and say hello tomorrow.
Morning,
Sorry to hear you’ve been ill Sharon, terrible time to be under the weather..we’re you sick Christmas Day?
Pat are the others at the show spoken for as well?
Sharon put one of the Christmas throws on the frame, i should do the same.
Should not be more than three totes left to fill, I’ll get them sone this morning, no tape left, will have to wait til next i go to town or someone picks some up for me.
We didn’t get a lot of snow yesterday, perhaps 2-3 inches, more today though.
I will have to find a project today.
Ziggy crying to go out, don’t like letting him out in the dark but he wants out now, I’ll throw on a coat and watch him
Sun s shinning as i lay with feet up on couch taking it all in.
Was so beautiful out that i got a whole of the wheel barrel and got all the Christmas totes in the shed on shelves, even tidied it up a bit..only Christmas left in the house is the snowman tree..left that for tomorrow
started on Grayson’s growth chart, not the easiest when you are trying to make it with what you have.
Suzanne came yesterday at 3:30pm, because of packing up totes and going to bed 2:30-3:00 i must have fallen in a deep sleep. Sorry i missed her!
Well I’m debating wether or not to have a bowl of soup then nap, or have a nap then soup.
Kind of comfy having this sun shine on me
What are you all doing today?
I will try to clean up a few projects. Marie's daughter & family leave tomorrow. I am staying home and giving them space & privacy. Geneviene is still not feeling great. So sad to come from New York from 10 days and lose much of it to sickness.
Adam started truck driving school yesterday. The kids go back to school next Monday. Maybe soon we can settle into a pattern/schedule again. I am not sure when Andrea's classes start or her schedule.
My block of the month embroidery class ended in December, and we meet together 2/16 and everyone is encouraged to have at least 1 of the tops pieced together to show. We each have 4 sets of 10 blocks now that our group has finished meeting & exchanging blocks. Pics of are of 2 of my participants blocks. I am struggling with #2 as she combined cool & warm colors and I just don't "like" the combination very much. I have chosen that inspiration word fabric to combine it with. Just never found fabric that I loved. I've shown pics of Marie & mine blocks earlier.
Was it the flu she had Pat? Likely never gets to visit much then to get sick, how sad.
Very difficult trying to find the right fabrics for a piece, i prefer buying a pattern then find a pattern..they are lovely so am sure you will be excited with finished product.
Nothing like having a schedule..was the truck driving course something he had planned for or decided to give it a try? It is doubtful that our schools in my region will go back next week as the new variant keeps on increasing.
Got heck, Greg and family came for a visit, all except Kyle who had a cold, called hospital, they told him to stay home and quarantine..Greg asked me where all the totes were, did the man come?? I didn’t answer, asked again and i said i put them away. Got loud, he said he almost begged me to let him put them away and i said no only to do it myself.. he wasn’t happy..
Got USA $$ for shopping..all my fists were $$$, added them up,$1,350 so i did well.
In bed, going to relax
Beside me is a box of cherry chocolates, a pop, a bag of chips and a pain killer and sleeping pill, which will come 1st
Beautiful blocks Pat. Can't wait to see it together.
Happy birthday Dianne. Hope you have a wonderful day!
Betty, you need to listen to your boys and let them help.
Will when i no longer can Lindakay..anxious for Jan 7th mri
Happy birthday Dianne, if your weather is like ours you’ve had a grand day!
It was not COVID, as she was tested & was negative, so I guess Flu is as likely DX as any.
Having my 13 YO grandson in the house means some of the little things I hate to do, he does for me. Carrying stuff can be very painful so I am grateful I can just ask him.
Truck driving is what he decided to do when given an option of schooling, college or training of some kind. I have my concerns. His wife is not very "independent" and having him out of town sometimes will be challenge. I will hope and pray for the best. He needs a skill that pays well enough to support his family. He REALLY wanted to learn and take over a taxidermy business. There was an opportunity, and it just didn't work out, I know he is resentful of that lost opportunity.
Morning, sun is not shinning, not overly cold ..
Pat you don’t really hear of many taxidermists anymore do you? How did he lose out on it? Wonderful you have a little one to help you out. Today Noah and Mel were heading to Medford to see her biological mom, while she was visiting here Janet said she had a room to paint. Both Noah and Mel said likely not go, not that they don’t want to help but she has a list and shames them if they don’t fir a few days to do it. That is why unless it’s absolutely imperative i will ask for help, rather than that i want to enjoy siting, gabbing and everyone enjoying each other’s company..
I decided i would go order my glasses…with some of the manufacturers a tad behind Michelle said likely 3-4 weeks before they are in..at least they are ordered.
She is a good friend of my kids so that took $$$ off the bill, that is always nice.
Was busy in town but i took enough time To buy a set of fluffy white towels/hand towels and washcloths to embroider for Rita..still can’t believe I made an error with first set, making them a C rather than D.. I will send her a few embroidery options to see what else she might like..hope i come across someone with c as last name lol
Have about an hour to vacuum and wash the floors downstairs and i am all caught up… hurrah. Maybe i will have lunch before i move on with last of the cleaning.
When Andrea was working as a Park Ranger, Adam was taking care of the kids (Andrea could earn more than him). They lived in a fairly remote area, Adam had to drive almost 30 minutes away to take the older kids to the closest bus stop. Adam was working with Taxidermist that wanted to retire. Unfortunately, the guy had a heart attack and needed to sell THEN!! Another guy was ready to buy and did. Adam was pretty bummed out.
Not a wonder, likely feels it was his dream job
Has anyone heard from Karen?
Susan?
Betty could you show towels with "C" ? My sis is moving into new house initial fits. I could buy them from you.
Karen, so glad to see you posting, had me married..are you feeling better?
Wish I could send then Karen but cost of shipping mega $$$
I can send you what font i used in juju though
Betty, it's amazing how much a pair of glasses cost these days.
I have been brain storming about anyone with a last name that started with a "C". I forgot about your postage Betty. Karen, so happy you are feeling better.
Pat, I did not know there was any calling for taxidermy any more. My father had a jacket made one time from several deer hides he had one winter. What does a taxidermist do? My brother got a deer this year and I told hm I needed a deer bone for Emma. At the pet store they are about $40. And the younger generation goes out and collects deer horns. A company comes once a year, with a hugh truck, and pays them for the horns. My brother's youngest grandson earned over $600.
I have been having problems with my eyesight since I got thus sinus infection. Finally getting better. It was like my eye balls were full of water. I told myself if it wasn't better soon, I was going to go to the eye specialist.
My children always help me but it is their idea. Some people just do not get it. Shame on her. My daughter-in-law told my daughter that the sheets on the guest bed were like sleeping on sand paper. So I am ordering new sheets. They are 20 years old and due for a change. My son and daughter got together when he was here for Thanksgiving. I am sure they had a long talk about "Mom".
We are suppose to get rain/snow later tonight. I am close enough to the mountains, that I might get snow.
My garden is not doing well in our freezing temperatures. Have not had a freeze in over 2 years.
Well... you know those "deer heads" and "moose heads" or big mounts of a bear standing up, those are the work of a taxidermist. Also, if you have ever seen a HUGE swordfish mounted over a couch or in a bait shop, those are also the work of taxidermist. Hunters (and fishermen) spend BIG bucks to get their prey immortalized in a "mount". The hide is removed from the animal, very carefully and worked over a pre-cast form. A GOOD pair of eyes alone can be $100.
Sharon, I would say if the DIL was complaining about the sheets she knew EXACTLY what would be great gift for you!!! My oldest son, Dana, bought a kingsized bed for the guest room to replace the Queen size when they moved away from this area. They took my Queen for their guest room. He knew that he & his wife would be more comfortable on King.
Dana also needs LOTS of high-end pillows to support his neck and shoulder. They bought them and I store them here, in garbage sacks under the guest bed. Pillows are difficult for me to put in pillowcases due to my hand issues. I don't leave his pillows on the bed (eliminating the need to wash & change all those pillowcases for guests that don't need the extra 4 pillows!!) They also bought, and I store for their visits, a portable fan.
Afternoon everyone, I’ve been up kept busy and decided that I might save washing all the floors till tomorrow morning! My house no longer houses Christmas peace, seems so big and sparse, kind of nice though.
Marie came and I decided that the big coleus that’s in the front window was starting to droop a bit I think it was just for it…it’s now on dining room counter..Ziggy can have his bench back however i think he is loving laying amongst the pillows on my bed lol.
Lindakay, one thing that is extremely expensive here is glasses, easily between more than $500-depending on your needs.. i was thrilled when she said she would give me a deal at $300..now if only the lawyer would say same nextThursday lol
Sharon, hard to believe that you might get snow, Las Vegas will surely come to a halt
Only kind of sheets I’m not fond of is silk..the ones i have are getting old, almost fleece like… can’t find them anywhere so off the bed and right back on once washed.. pillowcases have to be cotton though as i sweat too much.
Nothing worse than a sinus headache, what kind of meds are you taking meds?
Hospital just called as I’m typing to confirm my Friday at 7pm MRI, i hate the thought.
Poor gardens, won’t be long you will be having sunshine and they will prosper.
Pat, never hear of anyone getting animal done anymore, at one time that was the thing, maybe he is lucky he didn’t go in that field..lots of high end cottages have animals carved in their cottages, godson Paul has done many.
Well i was busy calling a few cousins ( same age group) re donating to Sandra to help her Re Gary’s death..Gary was cremated yesterday at 2 and will be buried in the spring, if Covid relaxes I’ll have a celebration of life here..did good, waiting on 3 more
to respond, collected $700 which will help…
Spoke with my boys this morning, they are heading to Cochran’s, almost to the mouth of Hudson Bay (6hr drive) snowmobiling..my brother Mike as well, glad they are spending time together..hope driving weather ok
Was hoping to see Susan post.
Sharon just finished a Xmas throw she started boxing-day, I have 2 of those panels yet to be done .. i went through my embroidery toggles and found the kitty pattern and embroidery for each block, as Darlene was 8n Florida i didn’t rush to get her gift done, must look to see what i need and start.
Already had hot hot bath, tea and cheesecake, now to decide what i want to do
Is the pic the pattern you will use? I thought for a moment it was Sharon's finished quilt and then reread your post, Her's was a Xmas throw. I REALLY like that pattern!!
Here in this neck of the woods, people still want to have some taxidermy done and there are few people who do it. Primarily the Red-neck element of society, of which I have a few family members (including son Adam).
Beautiful quilt Betty.
It looks cold, where ever they are.
Little further they be at the fur trade post, Hudson Bay..not quite as far as going to Newfoundland but far..they have fingers/toes crossed that the province will be out of Covid lockdown and can go
Morning all, mild out, calling for light snow and rain..
How the years have changed, Christmas was for the Children but New Years Eve was for we grown ups..hair appointment, new dress and shoes, out to dine and dance, i so feel for the young ones of today, home it is! Don’t even hear of house parties going on…
Will any of you do anything to bring in 2022?
The best i will do is perhaps make a cheese/crackers/ kolbassa and grapes, have mega little party.
Greg is away for his birthday, he, Jeff and I usually try to go to the cemetary, this New Years Day will be 31 years, perhaps we will go when they get back Sunday or Monday.
Not much to report, if i was ambitious I’d take a run to Barrie to buy background fabric for the kitty quilt, I’m going Friday fir my mri so best i save gas and time and wait til Friday.
hook those of you who are under the weather are feeling a tad better…
Sharon, did you get the snow
Dianne are you enjoying not shovelling like we normally are doing? Oops just look out and snow is falling at quite a pace, those big heavy flakes…big sigh
Deb how are you doing, know it’s been difficult without your Sissy..hugs
Karen are you able to get around..
Lindakay has anyone brought out quilt tops to be quilted?
Susan, update please..
I just have to do something, can’t just lay here..maybe i will go look a the Valentine’s Day bin, almost sure i used most of it up last year, must be something!
Going out to lunch with a couple of friends today, that's as much New Years celebrating as I'll do. I'll be back before dark, then watch movies until I fall asleep. I'll probably hear the neighbors at midnight.
Klaus, my 7 year old ripped out a nail, and with everything going on with Sissy, I didn't notice how bad he was. Spent most of yesterday at the vet, he's got a lot of infection going on in that foot. He's upset that he's crated and the others are loose in the house, lots of barking and growling when the nosy ones stop to look at him. The pup pesters one of Sissy's brothers constantly, Dillon isn't amused, and barks non stop at the pup. The more Dillon barks, the more JohnJohn thinks he's playing. I know he needs to burn some energy, but he will be going into time out shortly.
They're predicting up to 7 inches of snow between New Years day afternoon and Sunday morning. My daughter has decided that she's leaving tomorrow afternoon, right when the snow is supposed to hit, to drive to Minnesota to visit a friend for a few days. High temps in MN are supposed to be -15, I've been trying to talk her out of going, but, she's determined. She's made the drive many times before, but, not in weather like they're predicting. It's an 8-9 hour drive in good weather.
Wishing everyone a Happy and Healthy 2022!!
8 to 9 in good weather, YIKES, it could be a REALLY long trip (OR SHORT) in bad weather.
I might visit my SIL Sharon sometime today during the daylight, but I will be home for the evening. New Year's celebrations are not my thing. Too many drunks on the road. I have plenty to keep me busy.
Is the 4 patch on the border printed on or seamed? Cute throw.
Deb, hope you are enjoying your lunch with friends, most restaurants because of Covid variant are doing take-out. What did you treat yourself to?
Riding a nail is very painful, Noah’s dog did the same and had to take him to vets..
Is it the same there with so many people getting dogs during Covid they can’t take on anymore furry patients? Time out lol
Perhaps Deb when she sees the weather she will think twice..hope so… so many bad things can happen! Guess when we were younger we may not have thought it hazardous driving, we are wiser now.
Same storm hitting here and i am worried about the boys driving through it, not sure we will get the deep freeze though.I’m feeling better about the snow now that i have my guy to do drive and other young man to do back area and steeps
June just called, with Alex failing daily and the variant spreading to rapidly their family didn’t come up for Christmas, so sad.. many senior homes on lockdown.,terrible way to end your years
Pat do you think there are as many drinking and driving? Enjoy your visit with Sharon, i wished my Sharon Happy New Year and she didn’t even realize it was New Years Eve.
Eating my New Year’s Eve plate I made, forgot i them away all the crackers except one box, not fond of them..dropped into Foodland after making my trek to graveyard, had a few things i wanted, mostly grapes, bought bread forgot the grapes.not going out now.
Par, the panels have that border on them..Sharon took another up and will cut in squares., all the while mine sit in a tote.
Got some beautiful gray fabric for the kitty throw for Darlene..brought up cutting board and ruler, might see if there is enough fabric to do squares, will entertain me for awhile..
Drats, nose running like crazy, chapped lips..i will finish my eats then a bath and neocitron.
If i don’t get back Happy New Year Everyone..
.with Greg out of town Mel is look8ng for prime rib dinner.
Sad Betty White died..didn’t make her 100th
Happy new year everyone!
Yes, I have 2 customers quilt tops they dropped off yesterday.
My son surprised us yesterday. Him and his wife drove in from Amarillo. 7 hour drive for them. We went to Applebee's for dinner, came home and popped off a few fireworks.
Today is our 23rd anniversary. Not for sure what the plans are.
We had a beautiful sunrise this morning.
So sad about Betty White. She would have been 100 on the 17th.

Happy New Year everyone.
Yes Betty, still here. I've been busy planning the turkey dinner on Dec 30, the NYE party on the 31st (that was a bust. I worked SO hard on it and made such a lot of food, and 3 showed up). Two of the three showed up without their husbands, and the 4 of them were supposed to come to NYD ham dinner, but one household had to call it off - someone's coming to see their house for sale, and the other one decided to come last night instead sans husband. Oh well, it was the 4 of us, with a lot of food.
Not going to make the ham today, not for 3 people. Instead, I have chicken wings, swedish meatballs, and all the cheeses & meats & desserts from last night.
Susan (Georgia) went home from the hospital on Christmas Eve, and is on oxygen & a walker. Her leg pains her terribly after her car accident, but she'll be ok. This morning she told me that her mother passed away at 2:30am this morning. She wouldn't go into hospice (cancer) but the hospice folks were coming to see her every day. Susan's been through a lot., lately.
As for updates on me, it's the same every day - quiet. On Tues I will bring a bunch of cupcakes to our Tuesday Social Group, and I'll "teach" them cake decorating. Should be fun. lol I'm just learning how, myself! I have all the tools, and desire, is all.
Susan, sounds like you are staying busy and doing some good things!
Thanks for the info Betty, those panels are sure cute.
Happy New Year everyone,
Finally sitting for a few minutes, had a busy day..
Sharon came over for a visit with Sandra, she was overwhelmed that i had collected $900, was so trying for the $1,000…guess i could have tried a few more cousins but we are divided into 2 groups, younger ones and older ones and didn’t feel i should ask.
Having coffee with cheesecake, Ziggy who cuddled with me this morning but went downstairs while company was here just came back..he is as comfy as can be, grand having a furry .. 4pm wayyy after our bedtime lol. Don’t you find you just don’t know what day it is??
Happy Anniversary Lindakay, love eating at Applebee’s..bet you were excited to see your son..are they spending a few days…love the scenery photo’s. Guess your quilting clients are like some of us, didn’t quite finish their gifts..I’ve a corner yet to be picked up.Today is Greg’s birthday and 31st Anniversary of Rogers death..always ina funk but today i felt better being able to help Sandra out.
Susan how disappointing with the turnout..did they have to get tickets to go? Guess most are worried about the variants..are your numbers high? How about your weather. Sorry to hear about Susan, know you are such good friends..condolences on the passing of her mother. Cake decorating, believe I have the tools and wanted to take up cake decorating when my friend Barb took it up years ago but never did..now there is a thought, with so many tutorials on it but then if i take it up I’d have to eat them right?? Don’t want the pounds so might have to pass..good luck.
Pat did you get to see your sister in law Sharon? Yes we both fell in love with the panels, guess i should start quilting so i don’t have to rush Christmas 2022.
I did circular motion on one of the front pieces i will make a pillow with..once washed and dried they take on a different look..tomorrow I’ll do the 2nd one but won’t be able to finish them until i can find nice red ribbon for bottom..Mike a lot to do so no rush
What are you collecting money for Betty/ Was it Christmas gifts?
My son and his wife left to go back home. It was such a nice visit!
I love those pillows!
My cousin Gray 68 passed away a few weeks ago, had just cancelled his insurance policy as he entered a care home and couldn’t afford to keep premiums up
No will, gmt seized his account, not sure how much was in it as he sold his vehicle when he went into a home.
His only sibling Sandra had a lot of expense and it’s not over yet.. a few of us thought we would help
Nice of you all to help.
Morning, expecting snow today
How did all your New Year’s Day go?
Was up early, sat upstairs cutting fabric for kitty blocks, not enough of my pretty grey with a spec in it but that is ok, can easily incorporate another grey
Feel like tummy is saying lunch time but i think I’ll have porridge and make another coffee, moved my coffee off the table when i started cutting, drats hit it with my foot..just had to mop it up..will have another
Feel like i should go out, do something but the stay at home me and relax will win out.
Sharon wants to make a valentine day quilt, who knows, maybe a quick trek to Barrie.
My jar pick to do wasn’t difficult, closet in the hallway, rarely go in it so took all of 10 minutes, my craft to do will make an official list of what is left in my 2022 bins
What is in your plans
Good morning. It's 32 degrees here this morning. Pretty cold for Texas.
Not doing much, other getting groceries.
16 F here, and that is COLD for us. I will venture out to church; I've been staying home pretty much. I don't do well in the cold. We still have snow, and it looks like it is here to stay a while. We get "Chinooks" (warm winds) that come and melt everything off, but it doesn't look like that is being forecasted. It's expected to be below freezing the entire week, day & night.
