Best/Worse/Whar did I learn Today? Chat with friends newcomers always welcome..come sit a spell!!

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

Bedtime is every man (or woman!) for him/herself!! YOU know what YOU need. Company or not, listen to your own tired body! Leave her a nice snack prepared in the frig in case she has the munchies after you go to bed and don't feel guilty. I doubt she will be getting up when you are LOL! Of course, this advice comes LONG after it would have done any good but ... next time??

I am grateful that as different as Marie & my natural body rhyme is, we have always just done what we each need. Admittedly, I do stay up later WITH her that I normally would have on my own, but not what she would do without me! I swear there have been times in our life when she was GOING to bed as I was getting UP!

I caught up with a longtime friend today and we set a date to get together after New Years. She just started quilting a couple of years ago and her mother just passed away. June actually started long arming BEFORE she started quilting! Her mother and her sister both quilted and did longarm and got her hooked on doing the longarm, THEN learning to sew quilt tops (kind of backwards of what most of us do!) Now she has her own longarm machine. She has invited me to come over use hers. She does only pantograms & I never have. It will be a fun learning experience.

I found out that Bob's trial date is April 7th (likely in Calgary). Because I said I would testify, I will get a subpoena to appear & Victim Services will attend with me, for support. It could have been a lot longer until the trial date.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Morning, early morning it is
Was up working since 4am, time for a coffee and porridge..

Thought is i got what i needed done for today done, then i can sit with mom and hand sew.

She wanted to go to midland shopping but weather warning on so i will encourage her to stay home

Maybe Rita who was coming this afternoon from the North will cancel coming..my niece was also dropping in, she would be coming from midland, an acquaintance ran out of a few supplies to finish some of her gifts so she said she would be here first thing this morning but my first thing in the morning it’s not everybody’s morning lol

My cousin Sandra has to travel to Windsor which is right near Detroit in the Canadian side to get everything out of her brothers senior room, they sure don’t give you much time to grieve it out with one body and in with the new person sure hope she doesn’t have bad weather all the way

Susan in this day and age I would say April is very, you will be glad to see that over and done with

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

Susan, good to see you post. Getting the trial over with will be a big help I am sure.

I think Marie & I had 2 days to clear out our Aunt's room. And it took for FOREVER for the refund to come since she had paid for the next month before she died.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Well it’s been quite the few days,,cried a good hour last night while talking to his,sister..he had no $$ no insurance and no will..here she is about 4-5 hrs from where died, he was still in hospital morgue last night..city of windsor waiting for $2,500 gmt pays out. I call the cousins who were closest to him, we offered to pay but Sandra said then gmt would keep the $2,500 because of no will

Was stormy today, hope she got there without mishap.

Waiting to hear of outcome

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

Yes, seems when we are at our lowest dealing with death, the blows just keep coming.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Full day with company, all bedrooms full
Long time u..4am-11:30pm..hoping i can sleep till 6;lol

Drats, Rita drove in around 4, i went out the front door to tell her to park behind mom’s car so plow can clean half the yard, as i was coming in i notice a Christmas arrangement, hmm didn’t put one there?? Here my godson and his wife sent me a beautiful bouquet, had been there since Monday, florist saw lights on, knocked and left it at front door which nobody uses..

it was owner/manager who delivered it and left at front door, who does that in
winter?? Called, they are delivering another tomorrow grrr
Paul said he wondered if i liked it, $125 for dead plant is too much he said.

If you see a pie in background it not mine..mom went to town, thought she would save me baking..noy

Off to see if i can sleep

I had to send Sissy over the rainbow bridge on Tuesday. It's been hard, but, it was time. She lost interest in food and was just miserable.

My daughter went for a covid test yesterday. One of her co workers, who she has been working closely with just tested positive earlier this week. She says she feels like she's starting to come down with a cold or flu. She had a mild case of covid last year, if it is covid, hoping it is a mild case again.

Still running to try and finish things up for Christmas.

Verona, ON

Sunny but very cold here. Freezing rain in the forecast for Christmas Day.

I need to pick up a Rx in the morning and am hoping I can get my booster shot then.

Deb my sincerest condolences on the loss of Sissy. Your love for her is reflected in your decision to send her across the bridge. How are the rest of the dogs acting ?

I am really upset and shed some tears for some friends. They lost their Rotti Roscoe to cancer in September and now Keiva. This couple take stellar care of their pack. They raise a lot of eye brows when they go on holiday. They have special crates for the dogs in their van. They will walk down the street in their holiday village with all the Rottis off leash. It is a sight to behold.

Wow Betty that is a lot of company. I don't think I know that many people.

Has anyone heard from Judy ?

Need to get more wood inside. The wood stove is smacking its lips saying feed me.

Kai is at my feet snoring loudly. Diesel used to snore but Chaos doesn't.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Condolences Deb, difficult to make that decision..big hugs
Bet the other dogs are mourning her loss
Guess all depends how your daughter is feeling wether you hat her or not? Do you have time off?

people around here are being very cautious. Hope your daughter is getting cold/flu only,

I’ve had the sniffles and lips are chapped, nothing more than that..

My house has been so busy with people coming in and out, florist just delivered flowers from my godson..beautiful

Some artificial, stunning, going to keep it one flowers die.
I asked if they wanted the frozen flowers, said no so tonight I’ll bring container in and take the glass balls from it and salvage the vase

Keep looking at the clock, niece will be here around 4 then bedtime for me.. been hard on myself

Made pies, cranberry sauce, was going to cut up/cook my turnip tonight but no can do
Will set alarm in the morning.. supper at 4 then off to Kyle’s so it will be a long day.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Deb, sending our condolence for you and Sissy, So hard to do.

Betty, yikes on the flowers. Glad you got it replaced.

Sounds like everyone is busy.

I have not heard from Judy in several weeks, I will call her tomorrow.

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

You will have to post a picture of your new arrangement Betty.

Deb, Sissy was well loved in your home. That is all any of our pets desire and deserve. I know it was a hard decision.

Dianne, there is something comforting to me about listening to a pet GENTLY snoring (notice I did NOT say rattling the shutters!)

I am still working on the serger cover, day 3. LOL.. I hope to finish tonight before midnight.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Christmas Eve Day, few flurries in the air, door squeaking when i open it, Santa won’t be able to sneak in that is for sure.

Lindakay, will keep watching for your update on Judy, wisher the best from me please.

Right to the very last minute Pat, that is a sewing trooper

Turkey just got put in the oven, now let’s hope i can fall back to sleep.should make for easier day putting it on so early.

Ziggy is liking me, wants attention so best i cuddle him

Beautiful quilt Betty. I love how it turned out.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Thanks Lindakay, hope he likes it somewhat lol

We eat at 4, made 5 pies because of all the other baking goods,
Turkey comes out of the oven in an hour then ham/meat pies go in
Have timer for everything, last is the bread rolls

Sharon will not have Christmas dinner tomorrow as planned, i told her it was silly to cook a big meal for just mom and I..Brian is in the city, Nikki will leave in the morning fir her dads and Terry has been in contact with someone who has Covid soooo she will come here tonight, mom will go there tomorrow for a few hours.

My crowd will leave in the morning and the next will come in the afternoon. Still not decided if we will go to Kyle’s tonight..

Will try to have an hours nap..if i can..mom goes on and on about what I’m doing, why do i need to do these things etc etc etc..wears me out

Told Sharon to have her go to her house tomorrow for a few hours so i can get caught up on energy.

Had moms gift, she fell in love with that lantern that i got as a gift from the woman i made memory quilts for, i bought one for Sharon for Christmas. All I’ve been hearing is how she wants one so at 7am i went to town and bought her one..keeps the piece.
Also emailed Jeff and Greg and said to make sure to bring something, a word search book or chocolates, that way there will be no war

How are you all doing..when will you celebrate.

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

Sucks when you have to treat your mother like a toddler and make sure she gets what she wants AND EVERYBODY brings her something. YIKES. Please Lord, never let me get that needy and cranky as I age!

I really like the guitar quilt. Really a unique piece.

Linda, did you finish all YOUR own quilts?

Made a mistake or 2 last night so I gave up working on the cover until today. I am telling myself it is no big deal if it isn't done. I have other gifts for Marie. I REALLY would like to be able to give her the serger cover Christmas day. I still expect to finish.

HEY, at least I will not be up ALL night Christmas EVE finishing gifts. There have been years past that I have been, usually wanting to get ONE more homemade gift made that "wasn't necessary". Many times, it has been for Marie. I am NOT happy if I only give her purchased gifts although I do also have another one of the theme organizers made for her already and waiting.

Loreli had their "scrap box" available and I ordered one.(total about 20 yards, it is sold by the pound) I now have her Bday gift ready MONTHS early. I am so excited!!! I tease her unmercifully about her love of grab bags. THS box will contain nothing but under 1-yard cuts of their beautiful fabrics. The company's color of fabrics mixes well across all the different collections.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Never heard of Loreli Pat, is it a local company.lam sureMarie knows all you put into her gifts.will you be eating at homeorMarie’s?

Lordy we are hard on ourselves, last i posted i was about to doze off, just went into a sleep and Marie came for a visit..big sigh

Talked to Greg, instead of coming here tomorrow they want me to go there..not sure what mom will do

Jeff called, he is about 15 minutes away, Sharon will be here any moment

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

Happy Christmas Eve everyone!
yesterday I went to Olds to Choir practice, then on the way home, I thought "I was going to get gas in Olds..........." Oh well, pointed towards home, so will continue past & go to Three Hills. Got gas, did some shopping (last bits for NYE house party), then stopped at a restaurant for a small pizza & take most home for snacking (like I Need to snack this time of year? NOT!). After eating my dinner I noticed that it was close to dusk & I needed to go NOW. It was blizzard-y out. The highway has no lights, so I scooted out & got home Just before it got dark. It was really nasty out. I was SO glad to get home.
I'm not going to the Christmas Eve service. The snow is deep & it's COLD. It's not snowing at the moment, but it really snowed overnight. Winter Wonderland....... yeah, wondering when half this snow will go away to a normal amount.
Carol is nervous about going to the Christmas dinner in Olds tomorrow. She's going to Cuba to be with her husband, in February. Doesn't want to get sick again. Not sure what she had (likely an overdose of drinking & marijuana gummies). She's been doing this since May when she was unresponsive & had to be taken into Emerg. She gets so depressed being away from her husband. She's also got Lupus & Diverticulosious so takes meds for that. She's 73 and married Filo 3 1/2 years ago. She's all set to move to Cuba permanently, when the communist gov't will let her.
Ah well, I hope the weather gets nicer for me to drive into Olds for the Legion turkey dinner tomorrow at noon.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Do hope your weather takes a turn for the better Susan and you get to have turkey dinner..keep busy, enjoy beauty of the snow..know its a hard one, hugs
Amazing how storms come up so quickly..
people keep bringing chocolates and cookies and need them i do NOT., I’ve list 22lbs so no need for me to put it all back on

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

I got 1 if my quilts, quilted but still needs to be trimmed and binded. Shop has been so busy, then the longarm kept breaking thread. Not for sure why. Maybe older thread? My family has been told they will be late.
Glad to hear from you Susan. Enjoy your Christmas. Praying the weather clears up a bit.
Still 82 in Texas today.

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

82? Linda, THAT was just MEAN!!! LOL

Better home & warm than stuck in a snow drift or slipped of the road somewhere!!

I will go to Marie's.

Haven't heard from Karen in a bit. I hope everything is OK and she is just super busy.

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

Not busy. Nothing going on.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Nothing worse than having the thread keep breaking, i had that trouble doing a set of towels, threw it away and new spool worked just fine… am sure your family understands.

It will be quieter in the New Year, fewer quilts to do at the shop so you will have more time to quilt them..would you have left the quilt on the frame?

Drizzle, almost freezing rain, boys all left, great meal, wayyy too much food as always.
Though Greg and family were coming her for eats tomorrow but apparently I’m to go there..i will at least drop off gifts

Jeff seemed overly pleased with his quilt, trying to decide if he will hang it on the wall behind his collection of guitars or draped over one of the guitars.lathe 3 guitars on the quilt he has so that was nice

These are some of them

Thumbnail by Bettypauze
(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Quilt is off the frame, waiting to be binded.

That is an impressive guitar collection. Didn't know he collected them.

Pacifica, CA

Evening all,
Wishing you all a merry christmas!
Linda i talked to judy last week shes good able to take her walks a little further next surgery in january

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Merry Christmas everyone.
Liz, thanks for the update on Judy. Glad to hear she is on the mend.

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

Merry Christmas, one & all!
May your Christmas be the blessed holiday you wish it to be.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Merry Christmas everyone..may your day be filled with joy and special in every way.

Thank you Liz for the update, glad she is gaining strength.

Lindakay he bought another a few months ago, when i asked how much he said same price as my car. They must have looked ok as he named each one and said he had all 3.

He also collects watches, without my mom knowing if gave him mom’s mom watch, she died months before i was born at 36. Aunt Muriel had given me the watch as it was engraved Bessie and i was her namesake. It was in a drawer,, better with him than me. When he got home he took back if, got serial # and found it was made in 1932.. i wouldn’t have thought that. Mechanisms were all wIrking, he wound it and hopes it keeps time..will bring it in for a cleaning. I also had my grandfather that raised me collection of pipes and stand, leather pouch and tobacco inside… he was over the moon to get them Ashe was with his guitar throw, he caught one errors there was one dot on a guitar that i put in the wrong place..while we gabbed before he left i managed to pick it out and fix. lol.

Today i go to Greg’s and do Christmas and eats.. think mom is going to Sharon’s at noon unless it’s freezing rain..right now just raining.

If i have some time today just might bring in some bins to fill with Christmas .. i thought Jeff and the boys were staying the night and by the time i heard they were going home it was dark. They wanted to go in the back shed to get them but the shed is a disaster so told them no.

With little snow on the ground i could use wheel barrel to bring them to the house in preparation of getting all of Christmas back in shed and bring in the Valentine’s Day totes (only 2)

Still laying in bed, best i get up and cook Christmas breakfast

Again, Merry Christmas

Merry Christmas everyone !!! Freezing rain overnight and off and on this morning.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Watch no falls Dianne..Merry Christmas to you as well

It is icy here, temps is higher so some slush, yikes, slippery when it freezes.

Because of how warm it is i brought in all the toes

Victoria Harbour, ON

Tried to sle but get Xmas calls so giving that up lol

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

Merry Christmas to all. I hope it is a beautiful day with freinds and family.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Did Marie like her gift Pat?

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

Yes, although I think maybe she had a different vision of how she wanted a cover...

Verona, ON

Good morning.

Treacherous walking out there. You be careful M and Betty if you have to go out.

The TH and I started for a walk but only got a few steps in before I decided to turn back. I can fall easily enough on just a flat, clear surface. I will have Kai run up and down on the stairs a few times or maybe on the treadmill. He has a new toy - a stuffed banana that is his favourite at the moment and likes to terrorizes it every chance he gets.

Stay safe warm/cool

Thanks for the update on Judy Liz.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Morning, wrote a post, guess i didn’t press send..

I’m sure yours was more creative, perhaps she can make one of different design and use both on different occasions.

Dianne we must have not got the freezing rain you did..our was a slight rain, this morning you have to watch but not treacherous. Mom is not sure what she is doing today..makes me mad, Brian has been at her house since she left last Saturday, he called to tell her he has a friend coming for supper tonight, she will cook, in other wards do not come home..mom is tired and wants to go home..while she was talking to him i belted out ‘it’s her home, she wants to go home so there”…so she may spend another day.

I’m puddling around, with names of what is in totes already i am picking one and filling it..4 done so far
Will be glad when everything is back in order

Time to make mom breakfast

Victoria Harbour, ON

Everyone busy?? Or exhausted??

I got 10 totes filled, getting sore so hot bath and relax.

2 totes of tree ornaments..tomorrow that tree will be out away

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Just being lazy today. Had to run to Walmart for a few things. Was going to see what was left of Christmas items on clearance.
All Christmas items were gone, shelves were cleared, and they are already putting up valentine's days stuff.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Morning everyone, so far it’s not snowing out. Left bedroom window open , brr hate to get out.

Have to smile Lindakay, i must be like Walmart, Valentine’s Day totes will come in today..not set out inside.

Was laying here quietly not to wake mom, force of habit, she is gone so guess i can get up and relax until i can go to $$$ store, need at least 20 rolls of duct tape.

What do you all have planned today?
