Wind is up this morning with rain soon joining it..kind of day you want to stay in but i have a perm this morning at 9..waiting to hear if Sharon is going to her vet this morning and if Nikki her daughter can’t go i will cancel my appointment and go with her..
Hope you do make these frying pan ballot one to bake cookies , pies are my thing so i would like to make some, anyone have an easy non fail recipe? Dianne, which were you going to make for your exchange?
Susan you are indeed brave going into court..perhaps with omicron virus they may only do this via zoom etc.
Best i make my coffee and organize the quilt top to see how much i can get done today
Best/Worse/Whar did I learn Today? Chat with friends newcomers always welcome..come sit a spell!!
Stay strong Susan. You can do this. Keeping you in our prayers.
Thanks for the new thread Betty. Love that photo.
Got my perm, yikes, have a bit of vertigo, don’t know how Dianne survives it.. mine is just fleeting.
Wind is up, Rogers tv reception is horrible..
Sharon just left for the city to her vets, wanted to go along..not sure what outcome will be.
Ready to spend rest of day on this quilt..if it soon doesn’t come together I’ll go shopping for something else for Jeff
Betty I wouldn't wish vertigo on my worst enemy. I hope yours completely passed before it took hold.
Thinking of Sharon and Inuk.
Fell asleep shortly after 10 pm. Kai woke me up around 11:30 to go outside. I have been awake ever since. Torn between do I nap or just tough it out.
Jeff will be happy with whatever you give him. When do he and Greg leave for Nfld?
I need to renew my license plate sticker but with the new shut downs and the VERY confusing info from the government I am not sure if I can postpone it until Feb. Geesh it must be very difficult for many to decipher.
Still need to get into my bank in Kingston. Weather sounds lovely tomorrow so I think I will go then.
Has everybody finished their Christmas shopping ? GC are my answer. I do have a large box full of things for my 2 adult nephews (They are both over 60) but I won't mail it until after Christmas. When anyone sends them a parcel once the parcel is picked up by a volunteer it has to sit in a shed for at least a week to get any smells off of it. Don't ask - it is insane.
If Kai will let me a nap has won out.
My shopping is all done.
No shopping this year, no trip home.
Sorry to hear that Karen. Are you feeling better?
Morning all,
From 63 yesterday to 31 today, mind boggling, not a wonder everyone is coming down with colds.
Karen, hugs my friend, perhaps some if the children could come visit with you this year, perhaps rake turns with visiting..sure hope you do not decide because you have a few days of feeling good you do not decide to make the trip.
Dianne, the vertigo is so very little compared to you, just if i turn suddenly, someone asked if it could be due to booster, not likely..am sure that in a few days it will be gone.
Sharon did take trip to Toronto with Inuk, she called me and said the reason this time was because the vet that did procedure a few weeks ago nicked a tag and it was all infected.. the x rays show that bowels are fun of oil, he got rid of obstruction, she provided her with meds..Sharon has to get a muscle as the area is so sore he wants to nip..she stopped at 3 pet stores, none has muzzles.
Dianne can you renew on website, i did that when Covid first started?? Did you get the high winds yesterday?
Lindakay are you now working on your projects..
Sharon, what are your plans for Christmas..have they started condo repair yet
Yes ready for Christmas, all except the guitar throw
Can’t find the tree for gifts..
Sharon wanted some 3D FLS angels..once fully dried i can glue diachronic diamonds to it..if i have time i will do her a few others.
Housework done, am hoping i can spend the day playing with this guitar puzzle..so many mini pieces
Good Morning. I don't think I am in Kansas anymore. Wow is it windy. The temperature has really dropped here as well.
Betty the notice I got from the government is almost double talk. It is the most recent document sent out. I've called my insurance company and they emailed me a copy of my insurance form. I have to print it off then I will have it done.
Stay safe and well.
That is a huge temperature drop.
Praying this procedure helps Inuk.
All customer quilts are done. Going to put one of mine on the frame today.
Reading but will comment later, on to the next appointment!
Good morning, 30° with a few flurries today, doesn’t sound like a heavy fall though but they have been wrong before right?
As soon as the light hits Diane I’ll be out lifting anything that has been thrown I saw my beautiful easel frame that I thought was secure over in one of the other gardens and I really need to buy rope for the riding lawnmower tote still better though than all that shoveling.
The little ones come for their last day of sewing until after New Year’s, I’ll miss the little ones they’ve been a pleasure and I look forward to their coming.
My mom is coming up today but staying at aunt Muriel‘s for a few days so I imagine she will come Monday or Tuesday and stay until after Christmas..
She said she will take aunt Mary or back with her for a week or two and make arrangements for herself to fly to Vancouver to see her brother providing they allow plane flights with the new variant moving as quickly as it is.
I had hoped that I would visit with Debbie in Buffalo one day after Christmas but it sounds like the borders could be close to again.
Had the sniffles this morning I don’t know what’s up with that?
I worked about seven hours on that quilt yesterday and still 1 guitar to go before quilting
Next week is a busy busy week, with mom here Rita coming for a night, Niece coming to do a craft getting my shopping done, pies on Thursday and likely my meal on Friday fest I take some pep pills. Lol
Got Sharon’s 2 free standing angels done, Hoping to get a few other ornaments embroidered while I putter around the basement working on other things. Those memory quilt sure put me behind.
What’s the weather like in your neighbourhood and what’s on your agenda
Meant to add, yesterday afternoon I was on my way to put recycle in the bin and I noticed something in my left corner of my eye, Lordy if it wasn’t the biggest raccoon I had ever seen, he had moved cushions around making himself comfy on the patio chair thinking he owned the world, by the time I got in and got my camera he was waddling to the backyard
Best I keep that back door closed
Good morning. Our weather is really nice. Sunday will be cool, but it warms up again.
Sat Partly cloudy 64°38°
Sun Scattered showers 50°35°
Mon Sunny 64°40°
Tue Partly cloudy 66°43°
Wed Mostly sunny 70°50°
Thu Partly cloudy 77°55°
Fri Partly cloudy 80°55°
Sat Sunny 80°57°
Sounds like you are almost done with Christmas.
No plans for Christmas. As far as I know it will be just Todd and I.
Nice weather Lindakay..so much for ours, snow storm coming 8n.,i have to go get my prescriptions, might as well go shopping while I’m out..that being said it i can’t see i will soon turn back and wait until Monday
Kids done fir this year..they enjoyed sewing hat and mitts then creative with Christmas arrangement
The boys look so cute with their finished projects.
I will try to get a few things done around, I still have 2 gifts left to finish, Marie's serger cover and Paula's mixer cover. My grandson Aiden finished the 2 grocery bags he made for his mother, he already had the fleece pants done for his 1/2 brother & coordinating Tshirt, I mailed them off yesterday. He has 2 more grocery bags to finish up for his maternal grandmother. If he gets them done today, I will drive him to deliver.
SOME of the kids managed to get head lice. The daycare grandchild at Andrea's EX managed to give it to the teens. I gave A&A some cash and told them take ALL the bedding to the laundry mat, I did not want that heavy stuff being washed in my washer & dryer, not to mention how hard all that laundry would be on septic tank & drain field, load after load for days... NO thank you. Laundry mat and being able to wash many loads at once seemed like a logical choice to me. Adam said they spend $140 and STILL didn't get it all done, brought home a lot of the drying to do since they ran out of time.
They did an awesome job on their projects.
Pat, that is a lot of laundry. Praying they got proper treatments to get rid of the lice too.
Holy wah Pat, could have almost bought bottom of the line washer.
Only once did my kids get lice from school, remember buying some sort of shampoo that got rid of it..now why did i think the only lived in your hair and once dealt with shampoo it wouldn’t spread..must be thinking of something else.
Yes, one little one said this project was the best he has done yet.
Am sure they are displayed by their moms with a lot oh ohhhs and ahhhs.
Wasn’t the best to go to town but am glad a did. Those who recommended moustache clipper for embroidery thread removal I did buy one.. think i will embroider a little something and test it out tomorrow, if not what i need i will return it so when i open it must be very careful 8n taking out of package.
Now i was fretting about going to town this afternoon and my mom 90 takes the road to drive 100 miles..shaking my head!
Snowy day here. The snow started this morning and is not letting up. Betty unless we get a very warm day or rain we just might get a white Christmas. It is beautiful outside. I expect the plow guy to be in overnight.
Long range forecast calls for snow Christmas Day.
Winter driving warning out here. Hope your mom has a safe uneventful drive Betty.
Ewww on the lice. I was blessed not having anyone I taught have them. In 1 school I taught in 1 whole wing was shut down because of cases of lice. In the winter it is hard to control especially if the kids are bused. Plus their hats are thrown around. I did a lice check every morning for weeks.
Stay safe and warm.
Just let up Dianne but more tomorrow…the young man has been..i was in bed and dead a noise, went to check and he had his shovel out. No sooner climbed to bed that Cathy phoned, she was at my back door, visited for awhile, just climbed back to bed now here is hoping i can fall asleep..still have a faint touch of your vertigo
You were indeed lucky not to have had lice
I thought of your cookie exchange being cancelled, will you still bake? After buying the ingredients weeks ago for those frying pan cookies and running out of time i decided Togo to bakery and buy .. one less thing on my list
Betty - there's 2 kinds of lice, head lice & regular. All lice will go from the "victim" onto the bedding you sleep on (pillowcases, etc), therefore - washing thoroughly is necessary.
Morning, storm has passed, calling for sunshine most of the day with a high of 16 F
Susan i did not know it didn’t remember that there were 2 kinds of lice, think it’s been years since I’ve heard of anyone having it.
Not sure how i thought 4am was 6am on the clock but i did..
Managed to do 2 more ornaments, now to dry so i can put diachronic diamonds in them..hoping i have enough to do a set of 6 ornaments.
Had 2 oasis in a Xmas bowl, had done one for aunt Muriel yesterday, so decided to get the 2 out of my zinc and get them done..took all i had to do 1 of them so guess i will have to get out and get more cedar..they won’t have a home yet but I’m sure I’ll find them one.
I imagine mom will take aunt Muriel shopping today seeing it’s a clear day so she will drop off Bella.
Well back to the guitar quilt
That guitar quilt is an EPIC project!!! Did you know it would be so consuming??
Still working on the mixer cover. Paula has a commercial mixer so there aren't any patterns for it. She wanted it made featuring the Loreli Christmas cats, close to done...
So... the next day my drain lines started backing up into the shower in the master bedroom. It is a walk-in shower so it quickly flooded the bathroom. Poor Adam spent hours and hours working on it, with "snake" chemicals and boiling water. It appears to be working now. I am not sure what it will take for them to HEAR me. Shake out the dog hair before washing, don't wash 100s of loads of laundry back to back. The kitchen, laundry and master bathroom are all on that drain line. Fortunately for me, my bathroom is connected elsewhere. I am NOT on city sewer but septic tank.
Nothing worse than a clogged drain , luckily Adam was able to do the repairs.
I did not think about how many hours it would take, shaking my head..have a thin strip to put along left side of 1st guitar and i can sand which..I’ll start My day tomorrow with doing the edge and sandwiches, hopefully I can start to quilt it, at least I can see an end to it..photo i took is it sitting on the floor so crumpled up, guitar arm looks crooked but not. Quilts- always look terrible before the Quilting, sure hope it turns out better than what it looks.
Hope you made a pattern as you went along, she may want another..lol
Just got a call that my cousin passed away he was about 45 years younger than me but had COPD and had just moved into a seniors home. He is the one I had done the hockey Quilts- for a few years ago. He only had one sibling and she lives about 5 miles from me.
I quilted a few of his quilts 4-5 years ago
The full moon is amazing tonight. I don't need a light on as it is so bright.
Condolences on the loss of your cousin Betty. While they never diagnosed DH with COPD he had been a heavy smoker and had all the indications.
Had 1 of my favourites tonight - liver and onions. The way I do it you don't even need a knife to cut the liver. I cook it exactly like my mother did except I don't put peas in the gravy. Not interested in a repeat so the TH will be happy tomorrow.
Oh Pat you are really having a time with your new house mates. Sure glad Adam was there to fix the problem they caused. I supposed they are still washing things because of the lice.
Betty the quilt is amazing. Jeff will really appreciate it especially since his mom made it.
We are plowed. Dave said his phone has been ringing continuously since last night. He is not taking any new customers and is dropping some of his old ones. The ones he has to hound to pay. I always pay him when he is here. I put money aside in my sock drawer so I have cash to pay him. He calls my payment his gas money.
The TH and I had a lovely walk this afternoon. They love the snow. I was worried about Kai trying to go out onto the lake. It is just starting to ice up but he was too busy playing in the snow.
Susan it was good to see you drop in.
LK I am sure you and your DH will enjoy each others company on Christmas Day.
Deb how are you doing ? All ready for Christmas ?
I pulled out a box of Christmas cards as I need to send a couple and in the box was a card from Barb and Norm. Barb keeps popping up and I am glad she does.
Sweet dreams everyone.
I have a cold from the devil. I had a Covid test and no Covid.
Dianne, Liver and Onions is on of my favorite meals. I am going to make a special trip to a butcher to pick some up. I can't seem to find it in my regular grocery stores. So pleased you still have your plow person. National news here said there is a shortage. Partly due to new required insurance.
We had another freeze last night and somethings are not happy Barely froze but did some major damage.
Betty that quilt is priceless. What a work from the heart.. I am so looking forward to the finished project.
Pat you have such patience. It is just one thing after another. I have never know anyone with lice but that is probably because they cannot live in our dryness. Jut a guess on my part.
Betty, according to my weather tracker, you are going to get snow tonight and the majority of the week.
I especially like the guitar on the left, the brown in the batik makes "the wood" look so real.
Dianne, do your dogs go a little nutty with the full moon? Or do you not notice any difference? We used to notice the change in our mental health clients! Crisis work was ALWAY busier during that phase.
LOL... people who think they can keep a contractor when they need to be chased down for money are foolish!!! Same with co-workers who say they want "IN" on a joint gift to purchase, and then don't pay their share. Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on ME!
Morning..
Sharon your weather report is likely correct, no snow yet but is coming..let’s hope Dianne and I get just enough to cover ground to look pretty..not sure what Susan’s weather is like..
Couldn’t sleep last night, Gary’s death was bothering me so got up at 4 and started to appliqué the pieces on the quilt..the designer said no appliqué just quilt but couldn’t bring myself to do so.. i glued the small pieces and will include quilting them when i fine tine with clears thread stitching ..please it is going quicker than i thought..
I’m upstairs on couch, so hoping i don’t lose my energy, can’t afford to time wise.
Over a month ago a senior had asked me to pain a wedding cake topper she had tried to do that is over 75 years ago, called me yesterday, she needed it by Wednesday so sat and did it.,thank god i didn’t have to do satin bottom of dress and only had to touch flesh on face and foreheads, certainly would NOT have attempted doing it. She had knee surgery not long ago, will drop in and pick it up tomorrow, she will call me when she is in drive and i will bring it out to her, then one of the moms asked if she could pick up 2 Victorian Santa’s..she will drop in tomorrow
Only other in-house commitment will be my niece who is pick in up a tote full of Christmas projects i had done over the past few years, she is having a rough time this year, felt bad she could buy gifts so she will drop 8n and get them..if time permits she will do a gnome tabletop arrangement.. i will have to go cut cedar this afternoon, will need a break anyway. Pat is also dropping in tomorrow..busy busy..ok as long as they don’t stay long lol
Make sure Pat i pay my guy, word gets around, imagine the shovelling i would have to do.. silly people.
Dianne I pay by the season, usually I get the better of the deal.
Sharon, glad it’s not Covid, new variant is at a higher contact number than the first. You made me chuckle, i also cannot wait until it’s finished and i see end result
Dianne, liver and oni9ns aren’t my thing, you will get a kick out of this, i wouldn’t let Roger make it, once i threw away a pit he cooked it in..silly girl as i eat blood pudding.,never gave a second thought as to why it was called blood pudding.. miss my fil who always made me some for Xmas.
Still working details for Christmas
Looks like i will have Jeff and the boys and mom for supper Christmas Eve supper..then we will go to Kyle’s afterwards..
Jeff will leave around noon and Mel and Greg will comes fir Christmas lunch then i will go to Sharon’s fir Christmas supper..
I will have Jeff’s boys bring in all the empty totes from back shed into basement before they leave..am sure Boxing Day i will be packing up Christmas
Will wait fir mid January to take out Valentine’s Day totes..shaking my head.
Gave my shoulders a rest, took out supper from freezer, best i get back downstairs..
Did Sharon more fsl ornaments, just did a snowflake for me, will put another on the hoop, with the diachronic diamonds how they sparkle on the tree
Meant to ask, how are you doing Karen?
Yes Dianne, i think of Barb often, usually my coffee is in her cup she brought me, a beautiful lighthouse..
Should have asked you all how things are going in your household, all busy with last minute things like me?
Laying low, in a funk.
Sorry to hear that Karen. I have had a few of those days lately. Sending prayers of relief your way.
Sorry to hear that Karen, guess staying home fir Christmas is enough to get you into a funk..getting better is what is important right now..is the pneumonia under control?
Pat, I absolutely love those covers..haven’t seen those panel before, hard to tell if they are embroidered?? Marie will want you to make all season ones.
Easy to get yourself into a job.. she doesn’t know she is getting this gift dies she, how excited she will be.
Think we are all in a bit of a funk, hard time of year for all. Mine is remembering those few weeks when we found out Roger. Was full of cancer, time in hospital and his dying New Year’s Day. You don’t have to consciously think about these times but it surfaces.
Do have a smile for you though
Yes, 2 years Ben entered the hospital 12/23 and was transferred to Skilled Nursing facility until the end of January, home only 2 weeks when he suddenly died. I went to the funeral today of a 26 YO man who has been battling brain cancer for 3 years. He remained so faithful and strong.
This cover was for Paula industrial mixer. I still have Marie's serger cover to make and Marie does not know I am making it. THANKFULLY Marie won't want any seasonal machine covers!!! The Loreli squares are printed. https://www.loraliedesigns.com/collections/christmas but there are embroidery designs out there!
This is the collection Marie is using for her machine covers. https://www.loraliedesigns.com/products/sew-curious-fabric-panel
that picture is adorable!!!
Betty, so glad you could fix the beautiful cake topper. Those free standing lace projects are beautiful. Love that precious grandson too!
Pat, I love her designs, you did a wonderful job on that cover.
Thanks Linda. I HATE trying to "make a pattern". I just hope it looks good ON the mixer & she likes it.
Evening,m8magine it’s 4:330 and i am still up..
Morning was a morning of people dropping in, got lots done on the guitars but not done, need binding.
Mom got here art 1:30:so trying to stay up to keep her company.
So want to go to bed
