Best/Worse/What did I learn today?? Chat with friends old and new..come pull up a chair and know you will be welcomed!!!

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Sounds like you have over done it again.
I love those photos. So precious.

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

Awesome photos Betty, What a cutie.
Walt saved me coffee grounds from work. I froze and in early spring I put them liberally where the new hosta sprouts were coming up. Never had a problem with slugs. They don't like the feel of the grounds.

Oh dear Pat. Cats will chew up hearing aids if they get a chance. We were warned if we had a cat to be sure they were in a drawer if not in use.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Raining…guess t will play with setting my gnomes and camper on the pieces i painted, should put in the day

Thanks KAREN, dont drink coffee with grounds, will have to ask around to see who does.hmm will keep in mind what i set down, never saw Ziggy at anything but just incase.

Lindakay, although i got so much work done i wasn’t lifting my arms much above my waist, most bent down chopping with clipper o hurrah only took meds twice yesterday vs 4 times

What did you all get up to?

Betty, don't you have a little restaurant next door?? Ask them to keep the coffee grounds for you. I have heard of many gardeners asking Starbucks and other coffee shops to save the grounds for them.

The photos are awesome!!! I especially liked #1.His baby sure looks likes him.

Marie & I had a nice day together, but we always do. I am so lucky to have a sister as a best friend. No, my Aunt & Uncle had no children of their own and my Uncle only had 1 sister. Marie is 8 years older than me and was actually a flower girl at their wedding. She spent FAR more time with them than any of us younger kids. She would sometimes go and spend a week at a time with them as a little girl. I never knew if my Aunt & Uncle had no children by choice or circumstances. They were certainly close to Marie & if something would have happened to my parents, Marie would have gone to them. HOWEVER, when us 3 came along, uh no!! hehehe. My brother was 1 year & 4 days older than my twin brother and I. One well behaved little girl is VASTLY different than a litter of 3 ragamuffins! .

Our weather has certainly made a cold turn. 27 last night & highs are not projected to get above 63 during the days.

I did a brief look at homes for sale yesterday online, HOLY COW!! Literally houses have DOUBLED in price over the last 3 years in our area. Marie & Phil have nearly a full acre and live out on the river, quite a ways out of town. When Phil passes away, she will likely sell the place and move to town. We talked about that quite a bit yesterday, what that might look like.

Marie & I are enrolled in a 2 day event beginning Friday and then have Tues & Thursday evening quilting classes for 2 weeks, a binding class mid November. That ought to keep us busy.

Victoria Harbour, ON

How blessed you and Marie are to have same interests..she doesn’t live far from you now does she? Can’t recall. They were just saying on the radio while i was driving to town fir zip lock bags that someone just got $120,000 over asking..imagine..kids like Kyle will never be able to afford a home.

27, that is freezing right! Wow, your weather is lower than mine..
It goes from cloudy to sunshine,Sharon is hoping it rains more as she just set down grub killer on her lawns.

Thought i had nothing to do other than make homemade turkey tomatoe noodle soup but have to go through refrigerator freezer and downstairs small freezer unit to i can find room for soup, this soup will be put in zip lock but still needs to have room for them
Marie and Ted are out planting tulip bulbs but with the number of squirrels not many i would say will survive.

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

Big eye opener when sis was house hunting here. There is such a demand, houses are selling almost instantly. Most now are giving a window of 3-5 days that they will accept bids and then notify the winning bidder. You need an agent so they can see the listings before they are public. Some never get posted before they are snapped up. No rentals to be had and the rents have gone sky high. Nearly $2000. for a fairly small house.

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

Good morning, everyone. Been really busy lately
going backwards - yesterday it was Tuesday Social Group & they were thinking of putting "teeth" to the newest regulation of requiring "passports" of vaccination & masks to go to it, and before Catherine & Naomi arrived the consensus was those without proof of vaccination were to be told they couldn't come. Both of them refuse to be vaccinated, so won't be allowed to come, which means I CAN return to the group - HURRAY! About bleeding time! My dear friend Dianne said she would monitor, so I won't end up being the butt of Catherine's bullying because it's me. Oh, and after it was mentioned several times, she said "Happy Anniversary" as she was leaving at the end of the afternoon. This, btw, after Naomi had gone.
Thanksgiving was very nice had 2 friends join us - happened to be Dianne & another friend from crib, Bill. We played 4 games of crib after dinner. No one went away hungry & we sent some leftovers home with both.
Sunday, our anniversary - we dressed up in our Celtic outfits & went to church. Had our transfer of membership ceremony, I read scriptures, and took a prayer shawl for them. Afterwards we went out to lunch - wonderful turkey etc buffet!
I have been working on the organization of our Silver Willows Silent Auction (it's on FB, under that name, if you'd like to check it out). Lots of donations from businesses & individuals. Now, to finish advertising it!
I'm knitting a shortie kimono, in red. Using the eyelet stitch. Had made one before, but it was too small, so will donate it to the Silent Auction. This one will fit, I'm sure. No closures, so it drapes.
Well, back to busy work :) Have to print more ads for Crib and the Silent Auction

Susan, I am happy to hear you can attend again without the presence of Naomi.

Marie only lives about 20 minutes from me.

A friend had surgery and was looking to hire someone to make a "doll wig" for the granddaughter's Halloween costume. I volunteered to make it as a gift. I'll post better picture when she is actually dressed in the costume. My DIL said "Let me get this straight, you are dressing HUMANS to look like DOLLS now??? LOL

You sure are doing one heck of a job, she will be so pleased.

So she would be interested in living closer to you Pat?

I’ve made farrrr too much soup, could feed a community centre so called Sharon, Marie & Ted, too many bags to freeze.

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

When the time comes, Marie & I are discussing moving in together. We have discussed our concerns. She is financially better off than me & I do NOT want her to have "to carry me". I am concerned about sorting out how that would affect each of our kids inheritance etc. Neither of us want there to be any problems / hostility between our grown children. Phil is NOT in good health but none of us know when our time is up. Phil could live for years more, or not. We won't do anything before Phil passes.
Marie has always said she would likely move after Phil's passing. It's only been the last couple of years she & I have explored the option of living together, and never with any real detail until now.

Victoria Harbour, ON

That would be a concern.. I’m sure you will come up with an answer.
Sharon keeps telling me to move in with her but nope.. my next move will be a seniors home

Sure wish Rita would move back in with me, was perfect

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

Yes, there are NOT a lot of people that make good long term house mates. Kevin was easy. Adam wasn't bad alone, even Sam & Adam, but the whole family and dogs are another story.

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

Pat, I made a doll wig for Jessica when she was little. I made her a Rainbow Bright costume. BTW Never again it was a real pain in the patoot to make. However Jess is nearing 40 and the costume is still going around in the family so I guess it was worth the aggravation.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Love it when costumes get passed around Karen, know just how much time and $$ you put into them.memory of Rainbow Bright will always be with Jessica, she will be telling her grands of Halloween’s past.

Will be hard to make those decisions Pat with already sharing accommodations.

Susan, let’s hope they decide not to get the vaccines, sure would make it easier for you to move on..glad after all you went thru you got to celebrate another anniversary..those sales take mega amount of energy..hope you do well

Sharon how is the condo situation going..any news wether it will be repaired or demolished.

Dianne how are you doing?

Lindakay any news on Judy? How is the quilting on your quilts going.

Deb, are back to being settled in since your return? When/where is the next next dog show?

I’m settled in bed, early night

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

Having a costume be passed from family member to family member is the greatest compliment that can be given a sewer!! When you look at it as over 30 years of service, doesn't it make it worth while Karen???

When I was 35 and went back to school, I used up a BUNCH of my fabric making clown costumes and donating them to the kid's school. Kindergarten always had an annual "Play" that featured either a zoo or a circus theme. I wanted to give them a "leg up" by having some costumes available for kids to borrow. I also made strong man costumes.

I do not anticipate needing to make the decision and move with Marie before the obligation here has ended. Frankly, my obligation here HAS ended if they don't get off their rea rends and get enrolled in school or trade training.

I am not going to waste a lot of time and energy worrying about the fine points of sharing a home with Marie. It is just something to really THINK and PLAN for. Way too many questions & considerations to be worked out before jumping into.

Betty, can you tell me the name of the gnome pillow. I would like to try and find one here in the US.

Pat, I love that wig.

Susan, glad to hear things are going good for you. Any update on hubby's court date?

Praying it all goes good for you both.
I am in San Antonio. I see my specialist for my pancreas tomorrow morning.

Las Vegas, NV(Zone 9a)

I am here. Good morning Betty.

Condo is still just sitting there waiting on HOA insurance determination. Brian is not to much trouble because he stays out of my way and I spend a lot of time outside and he stays in his room. His room is about the size of the downstairs of his condo.

Cecil is still the same. I am feeding him cream of wheat, ensure and mashed baked potato. I give that to him with a syringe. Then I cook some hamburger and that is his meat. He spits out the chicken. He used to love eggs but will not eat them now.

Garden helper will be here tomorrow and we will be removing all the annul plants out of the pots and rehabbing the soil. Will plant next week.

Susan, sound like things are calming down.

Supposedly letting us cross the border if we are vaccinated.

Pat, my sister talked about moving in with me and I was OK with it but she changed her mind. She wanted to stay close to her grandchildren. She will be here for a visit on Oct. 26th.

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

Sharing a house is not the easiest no matter how much you love each other. We have found it works better if we have our own spaces for when we need the room apart. We share dinner and then all separate for the evening unless we have a planned event.

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

I agree Karen, everybody NEEDS some separate space. We are considering a duplex with a door added between them. One side living room used as sewing room and the other side would function as regular living room. My only concern about that is that I don't want to live in "rental areas". One side could have guest room and the other our office space, assuming both sides have 2 bedrooms.

My friend Mary sent me a picture of the granddaughter trying on the wig (and jumper I passed on with a few other clothes). Marie & I frequently buy used clothes and repurpose/cut them into doll clothes but there were a few just too pretty to cut, like that jumper!

That is an adorable dress and what a hairdo. She looks just like a doll.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Dull outside, likely rain

Not up to getting out of bed today so here i will stay

Lindakay, imagine you are on your way to San Antonio, please update when you get back..are there any fabric shops along the way..
Think I’m going to get southern map of Texas and see your travel route.

Likely Sharon Brian is not to concerned about the condo seeing he has a beautiful home to live in til all is decided..sure know i would?you will be glad to see spring planting behind you..I’m sure you always have colour in the gardens. Yes about the border, can even cross without doing all testing i believe…think i heard both governments are working on what to do with those who have 2 different vaccines, even talk about a booster shot, Darlene and John are anxiously waiting to hear..keep asking me to come for 2-3 weeks at Christmas but doubtful…here is hoping Cecil improves..

Bernie got new meds for his heart yesterday, says A ok to spend winter in Florida.

That photo is the cutest..something to be treasured.what did you use as the base to attach wool? For some reason think i used a bathing cap…

As for sharing accommodations it worked so well,,,i am an early to bed person, she was a nighthawk, I’d be up at crack of dawn and she until 8-9..because she works from home she would work all day upstairs and i would play in craft room..

Thank you, she is an adorable little girl. The little jumper was something Marie picked up to cut up for doll clothes but the design would not have worked (too long, no good place to cut). Later, the family sent me a video of the little girl wearing it.

SHE loves it!! She was sitting there with HUGE smile shaking her head to feel the "hair" move. It was the most satisfying craft/sewing that I have done in AGES!! I was afraid she would hate it, and not be willing to wear it. You know how kids can be about hats. The "hair" (yarn) is wrapped around a 4 inch acrylic ruler, slid off & then sewn along the edge. The rows of hair are then tacked on to a knit beanie that I folded back from the face.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

I love that photo too.
She is so precious.
I am in San Antonio. Saw my doctor.
I come back next week for endoscopy and mri.
Then wait for the results.

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

I am hoping all goes well for you Linda. Sounds like you have been making steady progress. Where are you in the whole "eating" program? Are you are on your "new normal" for now?

Victoria Harbour, ON

Very quick to get your testing, got my mri booked last month and i don’t go til January 6th.
Looks like you will soon have some answers..it’s the unknown isn’t it..was twondering same as Pat, are you still on special diet?

Still in bed..

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

You did not get up this morning Betty? Are you hurting too much?

Las Vegas, NV(Zone 9a)

Yes Betty, confess. What did you do to your body.

Vet called today and Cecil and i are seeing an internist tomorrow at 10:30am. We had a good day and i really fooled him. I cooked some chicken thighs in some chicken bone broth in the instapot. When it was done I made myself a sandwich. Soaked one side of the bread in the broth. Then I got a plate and sat down at the dining table. Scene all set. I took a bite, but really didn't. Then I tore him off a bite. He gobbled it down and wanted another. Slowly but sure he ate the majority of the soaked bread with the boiled chicken. That was two hours ago and he has kept it down.

Linda, I missed you were again not feeling well. So sorry and I wish you wellness and high spirits.

Pat the little girl and her outfit are adorable. You win the price.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

I also saw my heart Dr this afternoon for a normal check up.
They always ask for a complete list of meds. When he saw that I take prilosec daily, he asked why. Told him because of my pancreatitus. He told me to stop taking my Pravastatin for cholesterol, as well as my daily aspirin. Both of those can cause pancreatitus.
Now we have to wait for the endoscopy to see what damage has been done, and what they can do about it.
Yes, I am still on bland foods. I have lost 23 pounds since the end of August.

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

Pat, she's an adorable little cabbage Patch.

I refuse to take statins. One cousin died of complications from it and my aunt nearly did. She needs constant care as a result. Drs. never gave me any argument about it so I think they know the possibility is there.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Evening..

Lindakay, bet you can’t wait til next week..that is a lot of weight you have lost..too much I’m sure.

Did not know Karen about the statins..how is Walt doing today?

Sharon how did the appointment with Cecil do..hmmm never thought about dipping bread in the juice..have to remember that

Did not get up yesterday, forced myself today and played at ironing cut out pieces for the 2 gnome trailer pillows, I’d say I’m 3/4 done the tops, then onwards to appliqué and edge sewing…

Not in pain, more mentally unstable, just not myself..did have a bowl of turkey soup, more than I’ve had a few days, delicious

Sharon just called, Nikki her daughter came home yesterday from Mexico, guess the nurse in airport in Mexico slipped with testing mechanism and there is damage in her throat, right now she is in Collingwood hospital.

Mom called, she got her flu shot this morning, she is breaking out in blisters..she thinks it’s her shingles coming back, pharmacy she saw said she thought it was shingles..i say it’s quite the coincidence having flu shot and shingles is unlikely but what do i know, i think it’s a reaction to flu shot..she will go to doctor at 9am, in the meantime she is worried.,he last bought was really painful and lasted a tad over 6 months

Las Vegas, NV(Zone 9a)

Cecil's new internist vet was very through and explained everything. She wanted to check his pancreas because Schnauzers are prone to pancreatitis. She ordered an extensive b,ood test and a appetite enhancer and some psyillum for fiber. Wants to try that for a few weeks and wait fo the blood test results. She said not to worry until she is worried.

Betty, I can understand how you are feeling. I have to stay away from TV or I get so depressed. The whole world has gone crazy.

Linda, that would infuriate me if one doctors caused my problem another doctor was treating. And the doctor treating me did not know the medicine I was taking could make my condition worse.

My daughter came over this afternoon and give the dogs a bath. She is such a sweet daughter. She delivered my weekly Costco food. She says my list gets shorter every week.

So sorry about Sharon's daughter accident with the test. Crazy.

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

Medically caused accidents are certainly possible! Nasty for sure to be the victim of that.

OESD class started today, all of tomorrow as well. Marie & I are taking it together.

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

Oh Betty, I so so hope your mom doesn't have shingles. I think it's the single most painful thing I've ever had. Lots of things are painful but with most you can get some relief at times. Shingles is just constant pain.

I believe the Drs. do know the harm statins can do but they consider it a calculated risk. They think it might help and maybe do not much harm.

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

I agree Karen, MDs usually are aware of the risks, but it is a calculated risk. Ben had the brain bleed, but also had heart issues. ONE dx calls for blood thinners, the other absolutely counter indicated for thinners. You make a choice and hope you made the right one.
Shingles caught EARLY at least can be minimized. It is a nasty disease and I hope if it is shingles this time for your Mom, it is being treated early enough.

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

You're right about early treatment for shingles, Pat. Mine weren't caught early because the Dr. kept insisting it was the flu...No idea where that came from, but I did pay for it.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Betty, sending prayers that Sharon's daughter can me fixed easily. A shame someone slipped and caused injury.
Praying for your mom as well.
Sharon, praying for Cecil as well. I know pancreas problems are painful.
Pat, enjoy your class.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Evening, rained all day, worked on the pillow tops, something to occupy my mind and hands..

Mom’s doctor was not in the office tis morning, even though Saturday he always in so she went to a clinic.. he said it does resemble shingles but more inclined because her immune system is so poor that it could be from having flu shop..basically told her she would know in the next few days and if so to see her doctor..

As for Sharon’s Nikki these are photo’s of last 2 posts..easier to post photo rather than type it incorrectly.

Can’t believe it’s almost five, my lunch soup is sitting her as is my morning coffee will warm them up and that will be evening eats..

Omg it smells so bad in here..just can’t f8nd the mice Ziggy caught. Grrrr
Photo of Sharon and i much younger days at my dads….not sure why we had same outfit on unless we had bikini’s on and these were white wrap around i would have made lol

Leaking spinal fluid is not good. Sounds like she should be in the hospital.
She should also be looking for a lawyer to sue that lady that did the damage.
Love the photo.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Pretty difficult when it was done in Mexico in order to fly home.
Sharon will make sure she is in bed for the next week..she was in hospital til this morning, can’t do more than rest and wait and see once meds have been taken..praying it does

Las Vegas, NV(Zone 9a)

Betty, you were and still are adorable. I pray Sharon's daughter heals and has no repercussions.

Our weather here is beautiful. Had a birthday party in the park I was invited to for a little girl, 9, who lives two houses down. They had a great salad bar and a taco bar. So I got salad an then made a taco salad. Really hit the spot and they had everything you would need to make a great salad because there over 100 people and children there.

Cecil got me up about 9 times last night. Hopefully tonight will e better. I got the psyillum today and mixed it with pork light gravy and made it into form of biscuits. he ate it all. I fed it to him before his dinner and he was really hungry. He ate a little bit of his dinner, but not much. I forgot to tell you the vet specialist checked his lymph nodes and says they are not swollen. She said that is a really good sign. She thinks we are dealing with the pancreas. An enzyme missing like JFK had and csn be treated with medicine.
