Best,Worse,What did I learn today? A place to chat with friends, newcomers always welcome…

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

Linda I saw on the news that 3 men overpowered a bus driver & escaped but were caught and jailed. I am so sorry your town is being overrun & it's scary.

My Aunt passed away today in the Adult Family Home, NOT covid. My mother has ONE living sibling left, Uncle Wilbur is 102 years old and walks with a walker. Last I knew still pretty sharp mentally! Glady Mae had no children and she was very close to my sister, Marie. I will help Marie take care of the arrangements. Aunt had prepaid for Neptune Society cremation, not sure what else. We have 5 days to collect her stuff from the AFH.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Sorry to hear that Pat.
Sending our condolences and prayers.

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

Hugs Pat, so sorry. Every loss is a hard one.

Victoria Harbour, ON

My condolences Pat, am sure Marie will appreciate the help. 102, your uncle had lived a full life, you come from a long lifeline..

Lindakay, thank goodness the police caught these people before the got into local area..likely it’s a bonus fir them if they get to stay in prison, better than living in their own country.

Deb, how are the dogs doing? I wanted to go to a sewing store about 1 1/2 hr drive from here on Saturday but Sharon’s poppy starts obedience school Saturday mornings for 10 weeks..there goes that idea.

Rainy day here..just had a bath and now thinking of staying in my p.j.’s, watch me get company, said i wanted a lazy day today. Bernie said he was making pancakes, sounds yummy, maybe i should try making some, mouth watering now.

A breakfast house just opened in midland 7-9 Monday to Friday for $4.99
Have to do that next week

Ziggy walking from room to room, guess he wants to make sure Bella is really gone.

Just called my brother Bernie, he turns 72 today..

Off to put a few more pieces of glass on the window pane

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

Betty did you say, how are you attaching the glass? It's really pretty.

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

Thank you all, my Aunt was an interesting lady. Yes, my mom's family tendency to have long lives. There are days when I miss my mom so much.

LOL.... Ziggy sounds like he is doing a good job of rooting out the enemy. Stanley is not quite as jumpy around the noises of the dogs in the next room. TWICE I have had to remind my 13 YO grandson to SHUT the door after he came into my area. I do not think this should be such a hard concept. 2 in 2 days... really? I am not willing to risk the safety of my cat. When it was JUST Nova, I wasn't as concerned, but now that there are 2 dogs, I think the dogs would be bolder and Stanley less able to defend himself if it came to that.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Karen i use e-6000,because of size if window it takes 3 per window..the one on back porch i did about a decade i grouted, won’t to these, like the effect of more light.

Poor Stanley, must frighten him, he was so used to having the house like Ziggy on his own..Bella and he stay away from each other but i do not think he is comfortable with hiding 8n bedroom.

Still pouring not sure what has been making it’s way through back deck screen, either raccoon or skunk, come fall i put up a canvas closure so think i might go through tarps and look for the right one hoping it might deter what is getting in..guess i should get up off the couch and get it done

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

I wonder if any of those electronic critter repellant things work.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Not sure but doing to have to come up with something..

Victoria Harbour, ON

On the flood watch, torrential rain all day
Pump running every 20 seconds
Long night ahead

Victoria Harbour, ON

Survived the night, pump running without stopping, ground saturated and calling for rain 4-5 more days

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Oh my
Glad to hear you had no flooding.

Verona, ON

Hasn't stopped raining here for over 24 hours .WLs say we have a few more days of rain. I just pray it is not a continuous rainfall.

Betty we have the same weather. I am so glad your pump didn't act up. I hope you can get some rest and sleep these next few days as I know you will be on high alert.

Friend coming for dinner tonight and I hate to say it but I just don't feel up to it. That's terrible of me !! I'm sure once I get things started I will be happy. Lemon pie for dessert. I was going to make peanut butter cookies to have with ice cream but remembered how much he likes my very tart lemon pie.

LK saw more news footage from Del Rio. Hoping you are still feeling safe and well.

Watched the Masked Singer last night. I enjoy the show and other than Dionne Warwick 1 season I have never been able to guess who is under the mask.

Need to get going and vacuum so the floors aren't spotted with black hair.

Stay safe and well.

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

It's been quite rainy here too. The weeds are really enjoying it and thriving.

I had seen Gastro last week and he said it was close to time to do another EGD as my numbers are dropping again. BUT, hospital has stopped all but what they consider emergency surgeries and procedures. Yesterday I was at Oncologist, He didn't like my numbers at all, called gastro right then and told him to tell hospital I should not wait. Got a call from hospital in just a few minutes scheduling me for Mon. I still feel good and don't see the urgency but they ganged up on me.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Dianne, if we get what they are calling for I’m sure i will be taxed for waterfront property lol isn’t that always the away, feel social and up to company when we invite then comes the day, rainy cold day at that and we would rather just cozy up with a blanket..am sure once your company comes you will enjoy.

No flooding yet l8ndakay but still 3-4 days rain in my region yet to come.

Well Karen, for them to get you in so quickly they must feel you need it immediately and thank goodness you are scheduled..will you be in hospital for a few days?

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

No Betty, It's outpatient. I'll be there an hour at most unless he is delayed starting.

Victoria Harbour, ON

That is not too bad then Karen, any procedure is worrisome though but if it gives you answers then good!

Victoria Harbour, ON

Friend Sharon just sent me this message..she and 1st hubby were great friends of ours..Trevor died and she remarried about 10 years later..happily remarried…

Just got home from London an HE IS NOT GOINNG TO MAKE IT..Nothing that they can do for him. Pallative Care called me just as we were geting into Wallaceburg to start seeing him but could not speak to them so I asked them to call me back in 15 minutes

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

Sounds like I should NOT complain about the little rain we got over the weekend!

I got a call today, my nephew's friend (his wife's cousin) died today. He had been in medically induced coma for 2 weeks trying to fight Covid. Chris (my nephew) had 102 degree temperature for 8 days and finally is well and back to work.

It's been a miserable week. tomorrow Marie & I go and clean out our Aunt's room at the AFH.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Betty, sorry to hear about your friend.

Pat, sorry to hear about your nephews friend passing.

Sending prayers for all.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Lordy i wrote such a long post and was sure i pressed send but it’s not here so prayers for all.

Finished the 2nd glass window, next time someone comes in I’ll have them help me put it up..

Not sure why i wanted to get the dishwasher out RIGHT NOW but i did..wasn’t an easy task, think it was put in before the new counter top. With a bit of metal bending etc it out..vacuumed and cleaned the flooring, dirt and dust bunnies but after 18 years not bad.. all cleaned up. It’s out, could disconnect water hose, that is easy but not going to play with electrical wire unless i want to give the kids an accidental death insurance policy 😜

Feels like a long day, just might go sew a bit..feel agitated today, so best i keep busy.

Greg just emailed that he will come after work and disconnect..should take l9ng to install new one if it sores in today or tomorrow, at least it will be open area to set in

Lordy I’m hard on myself but some things should be done..

What a mess I’m in…while dishwasher is out it’s time to cut linoleum and give underneath cupboards a new flooring.. had a big piece of linoleum from basement floor so cut 8’ x 22” and layer it…nice and clean..now to put all the junk back in minus a few things…

Body says enough so taking 10 then all back in and no more for today..promised by body!!!

Had a surprise, couldn’t find raffia anywhere, even in Barrie at michaels, Linda ordered from Amazon and it just arrived..surprise,surprise..Lordy I’m spoilt

Marie's refrigerator went out and created a lovely mess. We shopped yesterday for a new frig. There are NO white refrigerators in this town!!! Refrigerators are one of those things that are in great shortage and so the manufacturers are pretty much only producing in stainless steel & black stainless, with white not being as popular any more, they are taking a break from them. Marie has a SS coming Sunday.

We pack up my Aunt's this afternoon.

Victoria Harbour, ON

From shopping for this dishwasher Pat, the salesman sooo tried to talk me into a stainless steel, told me if appliances were all bought at same time I’d have to replace with stainless so why not start prices..nope , find white easier to clean.

Greg is coming to disconnect the dishwasher after work and picking up the new, hmmm wonder if he will have time to connect the other..just did the few dishes of today, not my thing 😜

Just what Marie needed at this time… what does ss mean?

Will it take you both more than a day to clear out Aunty’s things?

Took meds, sprayed myself down with “that pain stuff” and sitting on couch relaxing…ok so I’m knitting while resting lol

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Betty, I hope you took measurements to make sure the new dishwasher will fit.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Yes i did lindakay, went to several places to find one with right height..

Greg is having pizza night at his trailer, he took time to take old one out and brought to roadside, usually metal guys pick them up fairly quickly..hope they do..
He didn’t have time to put new one in,set it on back deck, guess i can do dishes till Sunday when he comes..

Kept saying, bet i can fix it mom, well too late now, i bent the frame in several places lol

Saw Kyle posted he sold his travel trailer, goes tomorrow..guess when you are a family man that is the way it is….nope, he messaged me that he bought one already set on lot where they and Greg camp a lot, needs work but has a large lot and right near the water..good for him..i don’t feel bad now..told him in a few years Grayson will love it.

Figured i worked hard enough ordered hot hammer sand which and fries..45 minute wait…they are so busy

Las Vegas, NV(Zone 9a)

Our weather is finally cooling down and I am back working in the garden. Cecil is still sick. But only getting me up abut 3 times a night. I have not fallen in months and had two falls last week. One trying to avoid a Razor scooter and one trying t get Cecil outside before he threw up on my bedroom floor. Tripped over door step. Bedroom floor is wood so I have decided cleaning up wood floor is easier than falling.

Linda, watching your area on TV is so frustrating I do not watch it anymore.

Betty, you will be amazed with your new dishwasher. Probably will make your meal and then wash your dishes. I am so sorry you have to be on alert for your pumps at night. We sure could use that rain in the southwest. Sounds like you are feeling better. Sorry for your loss of friends and relatives Betty.

Karen, at least the two doctors are thinking alike and acting on your behalf.

Pat, cleaning out your Aunt's things will bring back memories. Sorry for your loss.

I had lunch with a friend down the street with another friend that brought lunch. We had a nice visit. From the side gate to the back patio i picked two hands full of weeds and debris. She know that is what I do and she is on oxygen so she is not able to do so. Shame on her gardener. My front landscape looks like a jungle. It is the time of year we pull summer annuals and get ready to plant spring flowers.

Hannah, oldest granddaughter's husband is in his last year of residency as an ER doctor and local hospital flew him out here and offered him a job and he accepted. It will be so fun to have them back in town. They will move back here in July.

All is well and I pray all is well with all of you. Where is Susan....

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

Sharon, poor Cecil, still not feeling well. It will be nice to have your granddaughter & family closer again.

Too bad we can't spread that rain around to where it is needed!

ss = Stainless steel.

My Aunt's room was ONLY 1 room at an Adult family home, the worst part was they had just delivered a month's worth of incontinence supplies!! Oh my.... Between Marie & I we got it everything loaded into her van & my car. I will give away all the incontinence supplies. Marie will donate all the clothes to the St Vincent de Paul that she does volunteer work for every Wednesday. That gives us 2 curios & all their contents to deal with. When we moved her from her home of 50 years to the Tri-Cities, THAT was the REAL work!!

I am headed to the recliner, read my book and just sit with Stanley.

Victoria Harbour, ON

On pump watch, rain next 2 days won’t be as heavy so can sleep..I’m thankful for MarieTed next door as the are clearing ditch debris daily, lawn cutting from all those citing their ditches and some recycle bottles.

Sharon, thank God you are not breaking bones in your falls..likely bruises though.
Perhaps your friend should change to youtpr Gardner. Great news about Hannah moving closer. Did Vet say why Cecil has been having issues?

Pat will you be keeping one of the curios? Am sure Stanley will enjoy your full attention in the recliner.

Going to try this sleep thing, if i can’t I’ll get up and sew

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

Betty, I did not understand your post, people are dumping lawn clippings in the ditches? .

No curio cabinets for me. I don't collect any "pretties" and have no interest in them. I have a FEW ceramic frogs that are on my buffet, that is more than sufficient for my needs. My decorations tend to be larger and of the practical kind. My frog salt & pepper holder, frog napkin dispenser. I have 2 large (14 inches maybe? ) frogs in yoga poses that serve to hold my remotes & keys etc.

The neighbors are replacing their 4 foot chain link fence with 6 foot wood fence. It makes pottying our dogs a hassle right now, but neighbors claim their dogs are "very visual" and expect this will cut down on a lot of the barking. I hope so. There are few animals in my life I have disliked as much as their Jack Russel terrier. He is a major pain. I have trained their prior dogs to not bark but this one....

Be safe all!! later

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

As of yesterday, all illegal immigrants have been removed. Very few were shipped back to Haiti. Others were shipped to other Texas locations for processing. Most will stay somewhere in the U.S. with relatives.
They made such a disgusting mess under the bridge.. Bull dozens had to come and scoop it all up.. then hazmat had to come and make sure it was safe. There were lots of port a potties provided, but they preferred going to the bathroom where they felt like. Even in the river. Nasty people.
They just announced the bridge will be open again this afternoon.

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

Linda, I am so sorry your community had to endure this.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Evening all, pouring all day,big sigh..

I’m thinking after working all day to have a nap as i am sure I’ll be “pump” sitting all night as heavier rain is yet to come.

Pat, my neighbour and i have ditches but the rest going up this side of the road over the years have partially filled them in and the township have not maintain digging them back up.. as for the recycle things like water / pop bottles are because when it’s recycle they fill the bins and some fall out and not picked up so when it rains down my end they come.

I spoke to Jamie next door and he said our ditches were brimming flooding conditions and he put a temporary pump with hose through window just incase. I have to be thankful to Ted and Marie next door for raking and unplugging the grid.

Wish I was more like you Pat and not having collections, mine are seasonal decor. My aunt was quite a collector of frogs..i have a few that i cherish.

For you to say it’s a dog you are not fond of is quite something..he must be quite the barker. Do yours bark? Just think Pat if you are friends with them you can hang some garden art lol

Mind boggling Lindakay Re the border situation. Thank goodness they’ve cleaned the area up.not sure where i heard that the USA were not allowing the border from Mexico to open therefore until they do Canada will remain closed..

Just today i spoke to about 4;couples chomping at the bit to go to Florida. Darlene and John would fly but they have a dog and kitty that aren’t well so they won’t. She was saying how much in Canadian funds it costs her for monthly park fees and can’t use it..would think a lot of Canadians will walk away from their trailers.

Pat no sure you read my Facebook post but i recycled something from the dishwasher..will have them attached to wall when someone can help..now I’m looking for another upper tray lol

I was pleased with working in craft room all day that i still had 1/2 of my hot Hamburg dinner i got from restaurant last night, means no cooking and no dishes to wash..sure hope when Greg comes there are no issues in installing.

Eyes are heavy, must be bad time…

Ted made muffins and cookies this morning, they were hot when Marie brought them here so guess that will be my bedtime treat.

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

Betty, their dog "Will" is a nasty little obnoxious barker that does NOT shut up. IF anybody, or any animal, is within sight, he is barking. School kids for the bus, people walking, me gardening... Non-stop barking. He attempts to incite riots with all the dogs and just is rotten!!! The owner has expressed regret over ever getting him. (So, get RID of him, PLEASE!)
YES, our dogs will bark on occasion. They generally do a good job of ignoring the neighbors dogs, even when Will is right there at the fence trying to provoke them. If I tell our dogs to stop, they do a good job of listening & obeying. Will does not mind ANYBODY.
That said, I talked with Adam today and told him THEY (he and wife) must do a better job of LISTENING for the dogs. If the dogs are barking, THEY must deal with it immediately. It is not fair to go into the master bedroom and "not hear" their own dogs. Adam & Andrea generally let the dogs out for 15 minute potty breaks and then return into the house. The dogs are NOT just put out and left out.
The neighbors added a 3rd dog, a lab puppy, several weeks ago. The Lab is picking up the barking habit from Will. Neighbor says the puppy is destructive in the house unsupervised, so she is closing the dog door with all 3 dogs locked outside Monday thru Friday for 7 hours a day.
It is what it is. I hope the wood fence helps. If not, then I guess I have another chat with the neighbors about Will. Perhaps give them a brochure on "de-barking" their dog (cutting the vocal cords).

Victoria Harbour, ON

Yikes..
Aunt,Murielmhadba dog that was debarked..he was months old when they got him..a Pom,yapping sucker, worked out well as my uncle worked shifts

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

EXACTLY!!! lol

Victoria Harbour, ON

Morning, will be overcast for most of the day then rain..wl say a week with no rain..
Imag8ne another few weeks and it will be time to start potting thing away..usually done at Thanksgiving only 2 weeks away..best i start checking with kids as to what they are planning.

Las Vegas, NV(Zone 9a)

We are finally in the low 90s heading to the high 80s. Thank you Heavenly Father.

Had an upheaval Friday night. Step son called and the condo next to his was on fire and fire department came in and poked holes in the walls and ceiling to find if the fire had spread to his unit. He has suffered a lot of smoke an water damage. My daughter, her husband and myself went over there to assist. What a mess. Firemen were very nice and helped us get some of the items they had thrown outside into the garage. From the looks of it he will be staying here for several months. Funny story. Brian is autistic, born with cerebral palsy and very hard to communicate with but I am the best at it than any of the other family members. I have been praying that Heavenly Father and I could figure out a way to get him out of his condo and back into life and activities. He would just sit in his chair and watch TV or be on his computer. My housekeeper gives me reports weekly because she cleans his condo for me. Well, he is out of his condo......Yesterday at 3pm I made him something to eat. And then we had a short meeting f what I expected of hm and one was to prepare his own meals and clean up after himself. He is 56 and graduated from college so he is aple to take care of himself. He receives SS disability. I have food in the fridge cooked and all he has to do is heat it up. Thought of Pat and thought I would jump on it going out the gate.

Betty, you are so blessed with your new neighbors helping remove the debris from the drain. i love your stained glass windows. They are really special.

My son, his wife and Luke will be here for thanksgiving. They are coming for a Gonsaga basketball game and it just happens to fall on Thanksgiving weekend. So that will be fun.

My housekeeper will be here tomorrow and I will be gardening. Have to get beds ready for spring flowers.
