LK are you feeling safe ? I just watched your mayor on GMA. Sending positive thoughts and prayers you will be safe and stay well. I can just see Covid germs marching across the border.
Betty take care of yourself don't push too hard. You want to be able to enjoy the party. Is anyone else giving you a hand ?
Just had a weird call from someone claiming to be Amazon. Heavens there are scammers out there everywhere.
OK need to get the TH walked if I can wake them up. lol
BBL
Best,Worse,What did I learn today? A place to chat with friends, newcomers always welcome…
Kills me, pres is saying he is going to force all of us to get vaccine but allowing thousands per day to just pop in. When he can guarantee me that all present and former illegals are fully vaccinated, I'll think about it.
Well it’s been a long day although i kept busy from this morning to now, i just now stopped..no, doesn’t seem to be a shortage Lindakay out all pricy, especially wood, about 3-4 times regular price, gasoline.,mums right now are about $20 a plant.
Mom just told me she is depressed today, Lordy, Lordy, got her hair done, had visitors to celebrate today her 90th..maybe it’s the 3/4 bottle of wine lol
Tomorrow will be a long day,did hemming of jeans for Bernie, 2 pairs yet to go,
won’t be tonight..had hoped it would be but not.
Tomorrow an early run to town then last minute things sooo going to bed early.
Susan you are made of better stuff than i, couldn’t take it..big sigh
Off to bed
So far we are safe. There have been several breaking and entering in town. Bicycles disappear from the yards.
Our house is locked and loaded if needed.
Morning all, promising to be a sunshine day, all i asked for..
Need to make one quick trip to midland at 8, mom wants to go and she it still sleeping..I’ll call out and ask if she would rather to tomorrow and i will take her. Shortened one pair of Bernie’s jeans, i would like to get the other 2 done so he can take them home with him this afternoon.
Lindakay sure hope you will never have to use those arms..
I hadn’t seen Ray who dies my ditches in 5 weeks, i thought it was just because grass wasn’t growing, when i saw him working i went out to gab and hardly recognized him..lost 50 lbs..had Covid, no shot, was was was going to get one but didn’t..he is now improving he says but long haul, pneumonia and glands still giving him the what for.
Said likely one more ditch cutting then fall cleanup, will cut a few limbs that hang over the roof
Kyle and Destiny went to the movies, Mel wad Grayson..Greg had worked all not so was sleeping, told her she best wake him so he too could visit with Grayson.
Think i said i got one window done with old windows..next week I’ll get the 2nd one done.
Best i get a move on
Enjoy your day
Betty, love the stained glass window. Bet it's pretty if the sun shines through.
Betty it looks like you will have a lovely day for your party. I hope some of the people there will lend you an hand with things and more especially your mom will be grateful for what a lovely daughter she has.
My cut and split 2 bush cords of wood arrived at 8 am this morning. Now I have to stack it inside the TH's enclosure. Keiran works after school and on weekends so I am on my own with the stacking.
Promptly went back to bed to sleep after Tim left. I was still awake at 5 am so even with a couple of hours of sleep I feel dreadful. Just groggy and achy.. I probably ache in anticipation of how I will be feeling after I get the wood moved.
LK I hope you are still feeling safe. That's a long walk from Haiti for those migrants and they can't be too healthy considering the conditions they live in.
Karen how is the foot ?
Well, taking 10 minutes to get myself into gear..
Jeff and boys were going to help me get a few 6’ sewing tables out but he is in bumper to bumper traffic on 400, says at least 2 hrs before he gets here.. nope i am not going to do it myself..my brothers should be here before one, Greg has enough to do with set up of the wood burning pizza until.
Sharon is crying, Inuk she believes has had a stroke, she will bring cake and meat platter near one and leave, just picked up cake amd said it’s awful, they did terrible job, well, likely more that she is upset.
Mom,is all dolly up, lipstick on, nails done and says she wonders if anyone will come, if not we will have to eat like crazy. lol
I haven’t stopped since this morning, just took meds, sprayed pain reliever on shoulder and am ready for what comes..maybe I’ll take my pop and sit by the pond listening to the music i set up..
Yes Dianne, we likely have same weather…don’t envy you trying to pile the wood..mega rest and don’t overdo
Won’t let me post photo
Betty I bet this fabulous weather has people heading up the 400 to cottages and beaches. The traffic will be like it is all summer. Someone will come along and help with the table.
I so feel for Sharon. I have been there and it just rips your heart out
Just had my dessert first so I will probably call it dinner and good. A few days ago I found a huge fuzzless peach at Foodland. I have let it sit to ripen with some oranges and bananas It's perfect so I cut it up and added some vanilla ice cream .Delicious !!
Betty don't forget to enjoy your party - ask for help .
Susan how are things in the west ? I understand the covid cases are through the roof.
I hope I don't have to use the weapons either. As of midnight there were 13,000 immigrants under the bridge. Border patrol shut the border down. Biden finally spoke up and said the will fly them all back to Haiti.
Betty, none of them walked from any country they came from. Rich people like George Soros and Bill Gates are paying for them to fly to Mexico, then get busses to take them to the borders. Now the US tax payers have to pay to send them back.
Sending birthday wishes to your Mom. Hope everyone has a great day.
Dianne, weather was spectacular..
My 2 grandkids Caleb and Braedon were angels, helped with moving tables, chairs etc.my kitchen is a disaster but it will wait until tomorrow.i did very well today, think it’s the adrenaline, even mom enjoyed herself
So tired so calling it a night
5 generationns
Glad you got a photo of 5 generations. That's awesome.
Always a special occasion when you can get 5 generations together. Looked like a great party. I hope your mom enjoyed herself.
She did enjoy..tired today..wants to help clean but rather so myself
Wouldn’t you know, filled dishwasher and now is won’t start..guess i need a new one..out came the dishes so just got them done then head outside to do garbage, recycle and compost bin..
I was vacuuming and mom told me it was ok, leave it alone, no need…because i did the glass window I’m still worried might be a sliver of glass so best i do.
Tomorrow when i wake i don’t want to have any chores ahead of me.
I had given her in a White sewing machine about 30 years ago, she had it serviced an never used it…she brought it up for me, needs to be wiped down, tried it before i spent time cleaning it, sooo quiet, good stitches. I’m still thinking in the fall to do a sewing class for kids and sure don’t want to be using my machines.
I had asked Jeff if he had an extra cutting Matt, he bought 6 a few years ago, said he would br8ng me one, must have used them so stopped a Michaels and picked me up a new one..now if i sharpen my Olaf blades it should be good cutting lol
Just finished my soup, best i push myself off the couch and keep on tracking..
Dianne - living in rural Alberta, we're not a touched by the virus as those in large cities. No one I know has had it.
Betty - we all have our strengths. Since 2019 when I almost died, I learned to let go of stuff. This is just one more toxin to release from my life. The worst part of it is how it's affecting Bob & his mood. When he's clearer, he thanks me for standing by him, and helping him. Other times it's more than he can take.
Tomorrow he's to get a call from the court. He can't attend in person.
Great Susan that Covid numbers are lower in your area..rising here so still watchful.
Is Bob’s mood swing because of charges? Or loss of relationship? He sure is lucky to have you stand by him.. will never be over until one of you move..sure wish there would be other trailer parks in region but i know to have all moved over and set up would be so expensive, but then piece of mind would be well worth it.
Still putting things in order, making spaghetti for supper then bedtime..between meds and spray I’m almost pain free, thrilled about that..it’s because of the injections i got, he’ll for part of a week then manageable fir good month.
Yawning as i type
Betty thanks for posting the photos. It sure looked like a good time.
I remember when my dad turned 90. His birthday was March 10. My brother, his wife and kids plus Warren and I battled the horrendous condition on the 401 heading west from Toronto. That was the year the road cleaning crews were on strike. I have a photo of him blowing out the candles with all his grands surrounding him - it's up on my fridge.
Company for dinner tomorrow. Decided to do pork back ribs in the slow cooker I think I will make tea biscuits to have with fresh fruit or maybe lemon pie for dessert. I just checked my fridge and need to head out to Foodland in the morning and get a couple of things. I should have decided on which recipe I was going to do before I went this morning.
Worked outside all day and didn't get any wood moved. lol I needed to do 1 thing first that led to another and another. I'll get started.
Hope everyone is getting the fantastic weather I am. It's around 66* and perfect for working outside.
I typed a book yesterday and sent it and it went by by. So irritating.
Betty the party looks like a wonderful success. Love your five generation photo. Unless I live to be 90, I do not think that photo is available in my life.
Weather here has finally cooled down to the lower to mid 90s. I cleaned windows on Friday and Saturday. I have about 8 more to do and I will tackle that tomorrow. Window washer I think is in Germany visiting family. Yesterday I did the three large ones in the garage. They have shutters so I had to clean the shutters, window sills and then the windows. They is a lower range of cabinets below the windows, so I have to put items away that had congregated on those before I could even get near the windows. Took me about 2 1/2 hours but I was very pleased with the results. I just get in a zone and go from there.
Dianne, I used to help my father sack wood when I was a teenager. I always was the one he chose out of the 4 kids. I guess that is why I do not sky away from work now.
Karen, I am with you and the area where Linda lives. I just watch in shock and ask, shy is this still happening and where are the people in charge that are letting this go on. I just saw a highlight on my i phone where Texas has moved in some Texas Rangers or something of that source to stop them from crossing over. If they cross over, we have to pay to send them back.
Betty, you guys are getting ready for an election. I saw that on the news this morning while I was curling my hair.
Cecil is still having a problem. I have been feeding him ensure just to make sure he gets some protein and calories. The photo I am attaching was him yesterday. He has a treat, very expensive, for digestion, prescription, and he loves it. He can have one a day. I was outside rearranging some plants on the patio and this is what I discovered when I walked back into the house.
You should have seen the look on his face when he knew he had been caught.
My grandson Jacob is a Freshman and BYU Idaho which is in Rexburg, Idaho. You must keep in mind Jacob was born and raised in Las Vegas. Only been to San Diego, Hawaii and parts of Utah. The high in Rexburg yesterday was around 47 and he is in shock. But thy did plan ahead and stopped off in Salt Lake City and purchased him some warm clothing. So besides the cold, he was driving a girl'scr yesterday and they go rear ended. He is fine, just a stiff neck.
Susan, that woman is lucky she is dealing with you and not me. I think what I would do is sue her. She is a constant irritation. How far is her home from yours? Bob should tell the court that she is trying to contact him.
Karen is your toe/foot still getting better.
One of guards that work security at the front gate wife got Covid. She has the first shot but not the second shot. Her daughter is a school teacher and vaccinated but got it at school and husband and oldest son got it. So wife went over to take care of them. She caught it and ended up in the hospital. She was in hospital for 6 days and released back to home. Was perfectly fine for 3 days, cooked, cleaned, partied, BBQ'd and such. He went to work Monday and when he got home at 4 she was mentally gone. He has two of the grown children come over and they decided together they needed to call 911. Police showed up, said she was unstable and placed her in a mental 70 hold at the hospital. Now she has been transferred to a mental health rehab under observation. They stated that what she is experiencing has shown up with many Covid patients.
I was going to take coleus cutting today but it looks like more likely will be tomorrow.
Everyone, please take care of yourself. Betty, get some rest, you did a wonderful job for your mother's birthday now you deserve a few days of rest. How is Sharon's dog doing.
Hgs, Sharon
Heading to bed,
Dianne, nothing like a blizzard on 401..yikes
You wouldn’t have wanted to miss it though..what we don’t do for loved ones.
Well if you are having company tomorrow could you not company to pile a few logs lol
Don’t envy you.
our weather s at its best, a week of rain coming though..is your wood covered.
I was lucky, no trips to Foodland today, had homemade soup for lunch and spaghetti tonight..thank goodness for micro defrost. Your meal sounds delicious..enjoy!
Sharon, my foot is much better. No pain and just a little swelling left. Hard to believe, all that from just a blister.
Awful about the guards wife. I had not heard about a mental complication. Poor soul, I hope she can get past it.
Sharon, our Governor finally had enough, told Biden, you authorize the border to shutdown or he would. Border is now closed, but we still have thousands under the international bridge. They are slowly getting them to the airport to fly them back to Haiti, and they are not happy campers.
Yes, the US tax payers are paying that cost. We have Texas rangers, Texas state troopers as well as the military heavily patrolling the border. No one is allowed in.
Bob's mood changes are because of the impending court case. He won't tell the police or the court that she's trying to contact him, but I made him promise to tell the lawyer. They'll phone him tomorrow, for court, but it will be postponed until the lawyer has a chance to talk to both of them and get their stories. I don't know how long it will be postponed for - 2 weeks, 1 month. Not sure. I can't blame him for his mood swings, but it's hard to live with at the moment.
She lives across the street & about 8 homes away. We can't afford to move & we've put SO much work into our home & yard that we don't want to. I know she won't either. Her grandmother gave her the mobile she lives in.
I know that there are some friendships that are now ended, but I'm ok with that. I don't get dictated to who my friends, acquaintances or whom I associate with and I'm OK with that, too. We'll see what tomorrow brings.
Worry: That senseless process of using today to clutter up tomorrow's opportunities with leftover problems from yesterday.
Goodness! I won't even try to comment on everything after reading to catch up!
Betty, I am glad the BDay party is over.
Susan, sorry this mess is still not over for you.
Sharon, Hope grandson is still feeling OK after this car accident.
LindaK, hoping you remain safe. The whole border situation is a mess.
Dianne, I had not heard of the need to allow the dog to mature. It seems like the earlier the better in most cases!
Karen, glad you are doing better.
I know I missed commenting on MANY things, please forgive
The drive to Portland was pretty stressful, the first rain we have had in weeks and it was the whole 3.5 hours. There had been a storm & even had one tree down along the highway at least as far as the fog line.
Gloria, her mother & I plus Karina all went shopping for the wedding gown. She bought gown, veil, & the crown-like thing. Got Karina's dress ordered as well. STILL no firm wedding date!! Many of us are praying that the 11/13 date will become FIRM soon. It will be very small affair if that is the case.
My sewing machine is giving me fits so although I had planned on sewing today, unless I get a different machine from somewhere, it's not happening! Marie has my spare. Our regular sewing machine repairman is out with Covid, their school age child got it from school teacher and EVERYONE in the family now has it including the 2 month old baby. Mom did not have the vaccine because of being pregnant.
BIL is not doing well. His legs look AWFUL, they are weeping again. They can go from "doing OK to awful" so quickly. Marie takes such good care of him and it's such an emotional strain.

Evening all..
Once again it was a gorgeous day..
Pat, I’m sure you are a great support for Marie, overwhelming for sure. How old is Marie’s hubby? How very tragic about the family with Covid. This afternoon i went to pick up my meds, stopped at Foodland for breakfast muffins, when i came out there was a car with a woman who so looked like Helene, for one quick sec i thought I’m going to ask what she is doing in my Foodland then it hit me, a friend so vibrant succumbing to Covid… so very sad. Likely you will only need a regular cleaning and your machine will be sewing up a storm.
Did you have much input of the dress or did Karina have something 8n mind..even mid November it’s right around the corner.
Susan, worry is senseless..I’m great with the what if’s, what if’s.
Lindakay bet you are relieved with the police presence.
Just had roast beef dinner..mom leaves 1st thing in the morning, we are relaxing for a bit then bedtime for me, mom will watch baseball.
While sitting i did do a bit in the other window..must cut more glass tomorrow
Love the way your window is coming along Betty.
The stained glass work is so cool. I need another hobby like a hole in the head so I will NOT be looking more at that! LOL
I am 66, Marie is 8 years older 74 and her husband is 12 years older, 87. Right now with Covid, going to the hospital would not make any sense. Phil is in more danger there than at home! With the hospitals under so much stress and demand, the likelihood of getting treatment for a 87 year old man is not good, although he does NOT have Covid. Marie called one of his former MD's for possible evaluation for the swelling etc and was told the next available appt was months out!!!
I did not offer much in the form of suggestions or input on Gloria's wedding dress other than to confirm I really liked the one she ultimately chose. Gloria chose a very pretty flattering dress. I did suggest she might want to consider having straps added as a few hours in a strapless gown can be a challenge. I was concerned... several of the first ones were NOT flattering at all. Some of the prior pictures of dresses she liked were outrageous! LOL Guess I am an old prude. Karina is only 5, she was basically easily pleased, I just offered my opinion that the dress they chose for Karina was a great length. It was about tea-length. She's unlikely to step on the hem and fall. .
Beautiful window Betty.
There are more than 500 state troopers and national guard here. All armed to the teeth. But still, quite a few are sneaking in through other places, and coming to town. Breaking into homes, businesses, churches. Where ever they think there might be money. Our grocery store shelves, look like a tornado went through and cleaned them off. Hardly anything there. Bread, cheese, milk, lunchmeat, diapers....
So far we have not seen any of them out by our place.
Just got back from town, bought a dishwasher, won’t be here til Saturday then i will need it installed… always something to use up what is in the bank account, could have done without but then .i do NOT like dishes..lol heading for hot bath then bed, of course it did not help my watching our elections til wee hours of the morning..house is quiet, rather like it!!
Praying for your safety Lindakay, know it’s your home but would you consider moving
North?
Pat, more likely they are right about him going to the hospital, much more dangerous than being home and dealing health issues. Not sure what channel i was watching earlier this morning but i think it was governor of Hawaii they were talking about, seems a very rich man who started and funded anti Covid injection rally’s spoke a few words, he and his wife are fighting for their lives, he made note that he could not breathe and that the Governor was right in wanting everyone of age to get injections and in fact many were requesting the shots.
Am sure the wedding outfits are adorable, did you also pickiness for you??
Ohh poor kitty, Ziggy knows exactly how he feels, he is on the bed relaxing, glad I’m sure that Bella mom’s dog has gone..
Time to soak
Betty I am with you about doing dishes. Warren promised me a dishwasher if I got a teaching job in TO in the early 70's. Teaching jobs in TO were rarer than hen's teeth. I got the job but didn't see any dishwasher arriving. So I decided not to do the dishes - I hated leaving them but had to prove a point. The first thing Warren did when he got home from school was mix a drink - there were no glasses left and I purposely was very late coming home. I walked in and Warren asked me if white was an OK colour for a dishwasher. It could have been purple as far as I was concerned. Warren said 'good' as it will be delivered here tomorrow between 4 and 5.
Harvest moon last night. It was beautiful.
Decided to set up my 4 ft table in front of the picture window and start a new rug hooking project. It is a big piece so I will need the room. It's SW design so I am looking forward to starting. I'm all set to go in the morning.
Kai dove into a cove that had green algae on the surface. Then he immediately wallowed in the muddy swamp. I was all set to give him a bath before we went in the house but Chaos chased him into the lake. I was able to wade in and and get him all clean. Made a game of it so Kai was all for it.
LK are you still feeling safe ? Del Rio is always featured in the news right now.
Liz have you heard from Judy ?
STty safe and well.
Right now we are safe. No, we won't move. 2 different busses of immigrants were in the process of being transported to the airport. On the way, one of them asked where they were going, and were told back to Haiti. Crowds on both busses got mad and rushed the driver and guard, beat them up pretty bad. Lots of police showed up quickly, and no one escaped. Now they are all in jail of federal charges of assaulted government agents.
