GOODNESS! Look at those adorable puppies grow!!
Marie's previously lined up help to stay with Phil bailed and I will be going over to wrap & unwrap him. Tentative date 6/13 to 6/25, she does not have the plane tickets yet. I know how much I would have benefitted from a break like that, so it's important that Marie get one. Later, we might find a way to get away together for a couple of days.
Awwwww I could spend a lot of time with puppies. They are beautiful. One of the prettiest I ever saw was an Afghan running on the beach.
I got the last of the flowers planted. I have 3 BIG wheeled garbage cans and if they are not full, I frequently go ahead and prune something. I did one of the flowering plum bushes yesterday.
I don't expect to plant any annuals in my back flowerbed. Maybe I'll try some in ground seeds. I rarely have had much luck and haven't tried in years. I don't want to take on too much this summer in the way of maintenance.
Been quite a morning..sunshine city..
Pat, I don’t do well with ground seed, jim sent me 100+ (4o’clock) and I see a few popping out of the pots, maybe rather than set seeds in pits should have put them directly in the ground. We can’t put what you are saying you put in your bins, must take to landfill site or burn in pit..it’s been so dry no can burn..hope we can rain just so I can burn what is there from before plus what I just cut.
Very kind of you to help with Marie, am sure she needs the break.
Karen, you sitting on that nicely finished deck??
whole neighbourhood has sounds..across the street he is working on deck and wood gazebo, corner they are staring the siding, on my right side where secret garden is they cut two humongous trees down, wood not split yet but a company is there doing the roof..
I did recycle at 6:30am and was at h9me Depot for 7, then to home hardware builders..painted the trim white, was already basecoated, took out the dining room painted linoleum out for washing, had rolled it up while floors were being done, not so sure I will put it down under dining table, painted door trim, cut ooohh so many branches of the trees where patio is, much more cutting and there would be no trees lol
Just sat down, tummy is hungry and shoulder/back says pain med time..
Did a lot of deck sitting today, so glad it warmed up again. Always fun visiting with friends. My friend bought all my Accuquilt cutter and dies. She may want my QOV fabrics too as she is planning to get into making them.
Beautiful puppies indeed.
Karen, so sad to see you selling things, but totally understand. Glad a friend bought them from you.
When we trim trees, we just make a pile on the curb, and every 3rd Thursday of the month, a crew comes with big trucks, and picks them up.
Karen, enjoy the sunshine on your new deck.
Susan, how are you doing.?
We were 100 today and will be 106 for the next four days. Dangerous day of heat for gardening. I had my hair cut today. Then went to Trader Jo's for my eggs. Also got my Thai chili/lime almonds.
Betty I saw your video on Facebook. Loved hearing your voice.
Our state is 100% open. Every place I went today did not require masks. I've had my 2 vaccines, so I was not concerned. There were still quite a few individuals wearing masks.
Susan, Susan, are you in jail????
Pat, I have some marigold plants that I have been dead heading and spreading the seeds. They are now coming up. I have 4 tomato plants and they all self sowed from the compost pile. Even getting tomatoes but our soil might be a "little" warmer than yours.
Morning, sunshine day and loving it but we sure need rain..this no watering at all, fire ban, then add Covid it starts to take a tole.
Lindaykay they allow bags of leaves and twigs if you bundle them but nothing else..I found an area in the back and am just going to pile them there until
Karen, must have made you sad selling the accuquilt and dies, but if a friend bought them perhaps she can cut some for you when you are up to doing the off piece.glad you are enjoying the deck and weather..
Sharon, those temps would do me in, surely you don’t work out 8n the gardens but enjoy reading time inside.
Only plants I’m not fond of is marigolds.
Marie brought me 2 nice tomatoes yesterday afternoon, made 2 sandwhiches and there came nausea. Maybe butter on sandwhiches or acid in the tomatoes..so hope not..I can live on cucumber/tomato sandwhiches and corn.
Was hoping Susan had posted so we know she is doing ok..
Greg and Mel cannot come this evening, Greg has to go to the city and with Kyle just moving into his house he is quite busy..will let me know what day they can come
Going to work on back gardens, wanted to move some plants to that area but with no watering best I not do it today so I’ll just today up area.
Betty, I'm with you on Marigolds. Also Zinnias and mums. Do not like the smell.
When we lived in Warren, they were the official city flower. I was probably the only one with nary a one in my yard.
Awww lucky you Karen, he is a cutie..another Babe to hug, love the name Roland, have a few friends with same..
Karen, much the same here for flowers..
Darts, day did not go as planned..Brian got trim 3/4 of the way, knew I wasn't pleased with one area, not his fault, old houses, knew it would slump as it’s the main walkway from kitchen to living room gets so much traffic so he lifted about 1/3 of the floor, used the floor leveller, big sigh, he is away tomorrow so here is what I will be stuck with
Exhausted so think I will just soak in a hot tub and relax..not the end of the world
Congratulations on the new grandson Karen. How many does that make?
Sorry about your flooring set back Betty. Hopefully it will be done soon.
Have you had your gallbladder checked? That will make your tummy upset.
Well it was brutal here today, 106. 94 by 10 o'clock. We went for very short walks twice in the Greenbelt because it is shady. On the second walk the clouds were protecting us from the direct sun so we made it. Today is the first day I turned on the air conditioning in the kitchen living area of the house. I usually have the doors open and only turn on the air conditioning in my bedroom at night. But dogs were panting so I had to close the doors and turn on the AC.
Betty it is a great thing that your Nephew knew how to fix the problem so you didn't have to look at it wrong. Not too many people these days have that kind of knowledge. Tell him I said knowledge is king.
Karen another cute great grandson. God bless you and your family. Because I'm not a quilter or or a seamstress I do not have a clue what you're selling.
Did a little bit of deadheading on snap dragons this afternoon when I was walking by them on my way to our walk. I did water a few pots because they looked dry. Neighbor across the street had a major irrigation problem and crew was there for three days fixing it and he came over to borrow a sprayer to hook to his hose so he could water his grass. One thing you don't want to do in Las Vegas what is 106 is not water your grass.
The sun is behind the mountains so I think I am going to go into the front landscape and dead head some more flowers and water plants in the courtyard.
Betty I only used marigolds because they can take the heat and I needed that yellow in the area I planted them. I will take a photo. You will then understand.
You all have a wonderful Thursday.
Hi - sorry that I haven't been posting. 1. I'm getting over the post 1st shot side-effects. I was ok on Friday & Saturday, then on Sunday, Mon & Tues I was feeling SO run down. This morning I woke up feeling unsteady on my feet, with a swollen sore throat & not swallowing well. Pharmacist said it's normal after Pfizer shot, and that I should stay home & not to worry. Keeping hydrated, staying inside (it was 30c today, and supposed to be 32c tomorrow - too hot when I'm not feeling well) sleeping lots too.
2. No,I'm not in jail, nor am I likely to be. Court date is June 14, via phone. I'll find out on June 8th what Legal Aid has recommended to the Crown about conditions for me - counselling every week for a year, for certain, but whether it's "no contact" or "contact" between Bob & I, I won't know until June 8th what they've agreed to.
I've been watching The Crown on Netflix, and working on a puzzle. (here's the picture of it)
A friend came & cut my lawn with his riding mower, now I can use the push mower I got on Friday. Tonight Bob had our gas mower that wouldn't work brought over by a neighbour, fixed after working on it for a week.
Morning..imagine I’m going to say ‘hurrah it’s raining’ so many people have lost their green lawn, mega burning..lots of dead grass in my back yard...maybe I can spray earth green lol what do you think of that idea?
As for Brian he is going to pick up a sea doo about 4 hrs north today by the time he is back likely will want to try it out so no floors touched I imagine till weekend...
Must be patient.
Sorry to hear phizer gave you these after effects, I had an ache in arm for a few days but no more than bruising would have given me. Rest and take it slowly ..know the court date is playing heavy on your mind ..likely they will keep peace bond on for some time, not that under the circumstances you want to have contact with Bob..just so hard to think all this sadness is happening after so many years of marriage.nhugs
Looked at your weather Sharon, Lordy almost Death Valley heat temps..was 116 the day Rita and I were there...would imagine it’s sooo humid that the dampness kind of waters your plants right? Wron
Lindakay when I went through that rough spot a few years ago they did every test and said gallbladder was fine..who knows
Will finish my coffee/cereal and find something I can do,,nothing upstairs for sure, here I thought by today I’d be totally organized...might mean playing in the basement for the next few days
We've had 100 degree weather, the activity this Wednesday night was "Ice Blocking". We have a REALLY steep grass area at a school in town that the kids take ice blocks, sit on them and ride them down the hill. It's fun and inexpensive entertainment. The leaders also brought ice chests full of popsicles with dry ice, cases of chilled water. I was lucky enough to be able to sit under a beach umbrella a friend bought. (I told them they were not allowed to laugh when I hoisted myself up off the ground when the activity was done. My knee caps are completed messed up so I can not put my knees down, too painful. )
I need to make a quick trip into the store & purchase more flavored water.
Oh Lordy, that does sound like a lot of fun, seems everyone is enjoying the high temps, well maybe not totally enjoying lol
I complain in winter and now complaining in summer, poor Mother Nature, always complaints.
My nephew surprised me and came this morning, ran into trouble with flooring, few pieces edging broke from taking apart and resetting them, will do..there is one little area that I might be able to add colouring and touch up..if I put the linoleum piece back under the table I painted to match my living room rug I’d never know lol. Will see, too tired to think about it right now
Will finish putting things back where they belong, vacuum, run a damp mop to grab any dust and call it a day..
Tomorrow it will be outdoor work and I just might relax this weekend..
If I ever talk about remodelling something please please remind me I said never again..
Always seems to be surprises when remodeling. But seeing the finished project is always nice.
Morning all, sun is just starting to come out, because of yesterday’s rain have to wait til mid afternoon to cut grass, my guy should be here to trim the ditches..love having fresh cut and trimmer grounds for the weekend.
Enjoying a coffee, lazing around this morning ..Ziggy must have tired himself watching us work this week, he is snuggled into my side sleeping, the minute a stop petting him he looks up as though to say don’t stop.
Found an unused hand towel, thought I might make one of those bath towel hoodies for something different but before that I should get dressed.
I could also see what time the Penetanguishene landfill site opens/closes and could make a trip, with carrying wood, tools etc my car needs a good vacuuming
What to do what to do
What are you all doing today?
had a major rain storm last night - one "boomer" shook the home - it was loud & must have been Close! It was a welcome relief after the extreme heat of yesterday.
I'm going to head into town this afternoon. Now that the sway bars on my car are replaced, I feel a lot better about it.
Just found out (because I asked) that my Dr may be stepping away from the practice in Canada. Since the Fall I'm felt less sure of his care - doesn't read his online messages from patients, and his "call back" times have been horrible. So, I asked the clinic to switch me to another Dr. They have one in the clinic that is being "assessed". For him to practice in Canada, he has to go through some steps & I would have to be a "patient at large" until he could take me on as a patient.. It's tough to get a Dr in this rural area, so will take what I can. He couldn't be worse than what I've been getting lately.
Almost impossible to get a doctor these days..I’m thankful I’ve no major health issues and when I need my doc he does come to the house. Great news on car back in operation, it’s one think to have a vehicle in the drive and you never use it to having one you can’t drive thinking of a zillion things you want to use if.
I’m so lazy today..still laying on couch, body must be telling me it’s a do nothing kind of day.. I will listen lol
The young women have a sleep over in tents tonight. I said I would come for PART of it, I am too old to be sleeping on the ground & with allergies, I think I will pass!!
Did some sewing, tomorrow we work on the fencing on the yard!
Whew, I'm a tired puppy. I did all my cooking for the party with Walt's much appreciated help. Two pineapple upside down cakes, double batch of potato salad, Rhubarb pie for son's b'day. Son was ready to dig in. Only waited for ice cream. While the rest was cooking, we put a big batch of baby back ribs in to have for dinner tonight as we had a big crowd come in. They were very good and only had one small piece left.
Tomorrow, I just sit and enjoy the company.
Clara and Millie reading to new brother Roland
Good morning.
7:30 and 71 degrees. Supposed to be mid 90s today.
Nothing planned.
Morning,
What a lovely gathering Karen, it’s a nice kind of tired, hope you rest
Lindakay it’s 73Fright now, high of 81f and thunderstorms
Plan for the day is stay in bed, didn’t sleep last night, water poured off me and nauseated so like Karen will rest..have such a feeling of doom an gloom
Something not right. Big sigh
Should get up and let Ziggy back in and make toast for my bedside
All my job today is to sit and visit. Son and family are here including Amelia and Lorelei. My cousin from MI also is here and sis from NC is on her way. Makes for a fine day for me.
Oh Betty, I sure hope a day of rest will put you to rights again. Nausea is just the worst feeling.
"Tossed" my breakfast this morning, I don't have time for nausea today! Second time I have vomited this week. I am so tired and the fencing project starts today. Oh well.
Betty & Pat - why feeling so sick? Here's praying the two of you feel better soon 🙏
Off & on rain & thunder - we certainly needed the rain after the heat wave we just suffered through. The farmers need the rain for newly seeded fields.
Our grass is brown & the chokecherry trees' blossoms are all brown & withered.
Very nice and for me a relaxing day today. So enjoying all the company, good food and lots of hugs.
I continued to feel "off" most of the day. I gave up working on the gate that my SIL Sharon & I were working on. I just wasn't thinking as clearly as usual and felt "fuzzy". I did not want to be using the table saw & cutting the wood wrong. I read the instructions 3 times & watched a video and still didn't "get it" about how to install the gate latch. Decided that I was better off hanging up the project for the day.
I am going to take it easy, read with Stanley, go to bed on time, relax and chill.
On the plus size, my Bishop & 2 of his sons helped my son get the fence posts and fence up in 1/2 of the project. Bishop & some of the young men are going to come back on Wednesday and see if they can get the rest of the posts in. Thank goodness for friends.
Pups got their first shots yesterday. The seemed to enjoy themselves there. The vet tech put down a towel for them to lay on, which they thought was a great toy. They were completely worn out by the time they were back in the van for the ride home.
I went out to my son's house in the afternoon. On the way there I had a very minor accident. I was at a stop light in the right turn lane. The car ahead of me started moving, and I took my foot halfway off the brake, my car rolled forward, and she had stopped, so I hit her. I couldn't have been going more than a mile an hour, we exchanged information, and she had already filed a claim with my insurance by the time I got to my sons house, about 15 minutes later. There was no damage to my car, she claimed that a little 2 inch scratch on her bumber was caused by my car, but, I don't understand how you get a sideways scratch, from a straight on tap. I'll call my insurance agent tomorrow and see what's up. I was in the wrong, but, I was under the impression that everything was fine when we parted. I probably should have called the police, but, like I said, I thought this was nothing.
My son had this sprinkler set up on the front lawn. I think this is the cutest thing I've ever seen! The unicorn sprays water out of it's horn. My granddaughter and her friends were running through the water for a while, then it just stayed out and watered the lawn!
Love the puppy photos.
Hope you can get insurance straightened out.
Morning, we did not get rain yes Tera’s as predicted..86f today but overcast.
Those puppies are absolutely the cutest, content with vet visit for sure. Sorry to hear about mishap, likely if her car checked they will be able to determine if it’s an old scratch or new..now that is the cutest water feature I’ve ever seen, must be the envy of your granddaughters friends
Carol, love the flowers, do you cut and fill in a vase? Bet your gardens are coming to life and beautiful.
Hope today is a better day for you Pat..is time you rest..yes it’s wonderful to have great friends and relatives willing to make things easier for your every day living.
Hope today is a better day for you.
Lindakay, how is your brother now he has moved back home, bet you are anxious for your visit. Have you been seeing the grands?
Susan, been listening to the news and hear crops will be hard hit because of lack of rain...will soon have to be like you are doing, many of us will have to plant gardens.
Did not get out of bed yesterday but to use washroom and get juice..will likely be same kind of day today, washed sweats off myself ,washed my hair and back into bed with Ziggy as my nursemaid.
Kyle dropped in for visit yesterday, I called out to him not to come in, he offered to go get anything I need but I was ok..
Back to nap
Betty, my brother has been in the hospital, due to vomiting blood. They found out he has an upper GI bleed. They think it is under control. But when the did the CT scan they found out he has a kidney stone and that his lung cancer has spread to his bones. He is too week for any chemo, so they are sending him home with hospice care. Praying I get there before its too late.
How overwhelmed you must be Lindakay, could you possibly get your flight tickets changed to sooner?
Been in bed all day, well since Friday late afternoon, stepped outside for a few minutes to get Ziggy out of extreme heat, Lordy like the opening of hell..sure is a hot one. Took a walk down drive, Marie was sitting there, the had knocked at the door a few times so I let her know I was alive..she seems to worry big time.
Been watching heartland series, figure I have another 2 days in bed and will have to find another series..
Betty, my family loved Heartland. I hope you are feeling better. Only 100 degrees here today so we are headed for a cool down fo the next week and then back up. You cat and my cat could be twins. Such great company. My weather report shows you will not be getting rain until later in the week.
Pat, my garden helper and I worked on a friends flower pots last week. We planned on being there for about an hour. We were there over 3 hours and did not make a dent. Her husband died about 5 years ago and when he was alive they went to the temple 3 times a week and always helping someone. I told the right people about the problem and the Bishop is getting a crew together of Elders, and such, to help with the landscape. She has been my visiting teacher for over 10 years. Long story why so long a tenure but I am a stubborn lady. Another woman, who is not in my ward is the other visiting teacher.
Pat, I do hope your feeling unwell has passed. So pleased you are getting help with the gate.
I found a rice cauliflower recipe in the latest Costco book that I am going to try. I am going to half the recipe but it has chicken, broccoli, cream cheese and loads of cheese. It sounds like it would even be good cold. I will let you know how it turns out.
Yesterday I made some egg salad, chicken salad, and some tomato/onion/cucumber slaw with an Italian dressing. Just needed to make something that was easy for me because if not, I usually do not eat. I made extra and called Vern's son Brian over to pick up some of both.
I got my other greenhouse ut together, easier than the first one. Why, because I had struggled with the first one so I knew all the mistakes I could make. I also separated the large container of Elephant Food plants into 6 different plants. I shape them into trees. Lots of fun.
My volunteer tomatoes are putting on tomatoes. I have placed two in cages and have two more I will probably do tomorrow. it is not to hot for me but to hot for my dogs an they insist being wherever I am, so we are currently sitting in my bedroom. My bedroom has an extra room attached on that end of the house and has is own AC unit so I do not need to cool the whole house to stay cool. Gives me more money to spend on other important things.
Linda, I am so sorry about your brother. God bless him that his pain will be able to be kept under control. Have a safe trip.
Susan, so pleased to hear you are not in jail. Actually, that was a joke. You are i my thoughts and I am still hoping Bob will come to his senses. And when he does, I hope is not to late.
First photo is showing area where large sumac tree was and was removed and we built a hill in the area. This was done in February. Third photo was taken today. Hill is in direct sun and hanging in there. Second photo id Jade plant I am turning into a tree and lobilia growing up through it.
Betty try Kim's Convenience. On Netflix. Funny and easy to watch.
Betty, praying you are feeling better soon.
I could change my flight, but with so many traveling back home, I didn't want to be there with a big crowd. So I will be there Thursday night and spend time with him Friday.
Sharon, your gardens are beautiful. Wish I had half the energy that you and Betty have.
