LindaKay - prayers for the family 🙏
Best/Worse/What did I learn today? Come sit, share laughter/Shed a tear with friends, newcomers always welcome!
Very pretty Susan, you did a wonderful job..now to frame it..
Pat, I’m my own worse enemy, aren’t we all lol
This morning with the help of drugs, salves I felt human..
My nephew who is doing my floors said he could come for a few days at beginning of week so to help out I decided I would take the day in taking out the old flooring..I know that my shoulder will be beyond paining tomorrow but it will done and rather than brian spending 4hours doing it, this way he can tackle another project I want done.
from a clean house to a disaster area in a few hours..omg been moving furniture to take up the laminate flooring.
Suzanne and Lenny said they would try and come first thing in the morning and take laminate planking to the dump.
Break is over, time to sweep up then hot bath, meds and nightIe
Calling it a day!!
Oh Betty... yep, you are going to be hurting tomorrow.
My son Kevin texted me last night, he & his fiancé Gloria & her 6 YO daughter will come tomorrow in the afternoon & leave Sunday afternoon. I need to get to the store to buy groceries. There are a LOT of things I no longer stock in the house that company will need! Fruit, milk, bread etc, not to mention more breakfast options. I eat the same things most days so there isn't much in the house to feed company. I use almond milk (no cows milk) and I have no bread products or fruits in the house normally.
the wind has been just roaring lately. And of course this is when I have been trying to get chemicals applied. Murphy's law.
Hard to believe you did that by yourself Betty.
Pat, enjoy your visit with the family.
Susan, that painting came out nice. I agree with Betty, you need to frame it.
Thought this would be the last day of deck rebuilding. Almost made it, one more board and it's pouring rain.
Sorry it's raining. Hope he can get it finished soon.
Tomorrow is supposed to rain all day. Oh well no other plans this weekend.
Arrg Karen! SO CLOSE ! LOL.... I got the chemicals on, let's hope my neighbors don't water or it rains.... I have sent a message to neighbor asking to please NOT water so the blow back doesn't wash off my chemicals.
Miracle of miracles, my BIL Phil has agreed to let me take care of him so Marie can go for a visit to grandkids in New York. Now to just get it booked and happening before something comes along that preventing HER from being willing to leave. If she doesn't do something to unwind and destress she is going to BURST.
The deck is done!!! rain delayed it a bit but all hubby's part is done. If anyone wants more painted, they will be the ones to do it.
I am back. Family visit was great. Was suppose to have outside party near the community tennis courts in the garden area but high winds and cold weather moved in and we moved the party to my home. Good think I have a large home and landscape. Total back patio is covered and a nice fire pit so everyone was able to stay warm. Wind came and went which made it easier and some older individuals stayed in the house. The food was catered and everything else was handled by the graduates parents.
I have been pulling out the spring flowers and replanting the summer flowers, and deadheading is my middle name.
Betty, I hope you can move your body today after doing all of that work. Worries me when you do not post.
I will return tomorrow. Tomorrow is the 2nd anniversary of Vern's death.
Hugs to you all.
Carol, the honeysuckle is pretty.
Karen, YEP, they wanted painted, THEY can pick up a brush!!!
Sharon, luck indeed to have a home and yard that can accommodate a large gathering. Catering makes it even easier!
Son and family out running a few errands and they will come back briefly and then leave for home in Portland. It's been nice. Stanley has been such a trooper!!! He has tolerated Karina packing him around with no complaints. My poor ears are ready for the quiet!
Carol, I love your blooms. I don't think the rhododendron will bloom here in Texas. I never see them anywhere blooming.
Pat, sounds like you had a good visit.
I too love having my kids come to visit, but so glad to get my house back.
Sharon, sounds like your party went well. I hope you had help cleaning up.
Betty, where are you?
Morning, afternoon, evening all rolled into one..
Kare, nice to have the deck done, now you can enjoy..
Carole, think I have a honeysuckle tree as well, isn’t the aroma very sweet smelling?
Sharon, 2 years already? Hard to believe. Hugs..was nice you had a contingency plan, am sure everyone especially the graduates had a wonderful time.love when I’ve been to dg friends, can mentally see where all would be.
Pat, looks like Stanley just moves with the flow..I’m with you, love company but also enjoy my quiet time.
Lindakay, do you have a date to fly home?
Started my day by cleaning all the plastic chairs, why I don’t know, likely will go under the storage deck. Sharon got here around 10am as I told her the rhubarb leaves likely wouldn’t be any good tomorrow, already 3 days old..think she thought 2 bags of cement would go a long way, nope did the smaller leaves and just enough..some of the large leaves I have done took 2 bags each..anyway we got that done.
Brian worked til 4:30, few planks the has to cut on a ban saw so he will do that tomorrow..I’ll order trim, in the meantime there are a few other jobs he can do until they call to say pick up is ready..
I’ll go out and put the chairs away if I can find some energy.
Just ran the tub, hot bath will do me good.
I got on here early to make sure everyone, especially Betty, was OK. It is hot today and the dogs and I have already had our first walk. I cannot find their water bottle so had to stop at the tennis courts so they could have a cold drink. Water there is ice cold and that always worries me when they get to hot and the water is too cold but they did alright.
Carol, I cannot grow honeysuckle here because it just takes over. But yours is really pretty.
Same here Linda, no Rhododendrons here. won't gro here. My son took me to a auditorium when I was in Cleveland years ago and they had beautiful rhododendrons. They was a caregiver there and his total job was to remove spent blooms. He had a large golf cart type of truck and the back was full of spent blossoms. I talked to him for quite some time. Being raised in the west, you never meet a stranger, just another person to talk to.
First photo is new greenhouse and and second is new oxalis. I order from Wayside Gardens.
Pat your Stanley did just like my Emma and Cecil did at the party. They barked at the fist two arrivals and after that they just followed people around, hoping hey would drop some food. That night they were so tired, Emma was snoring.
Karen, so happy you deck is finished. I am i the middle of getting rid of two small greenhouses and replacing with two new ones I just purchased. First one is put together so the second one will be a snap. The ones I replaced, the zippers failed in less than a year but company I purchased I purchased them from had a computer glitch and had no records for 2020. I do a lot of succulent and other plant propagation's in these small greenhouses.
I love Oxalis, can't believe I only have one.
I cannot believe how cold it is here now. Sure hope the warm comes back soon.
Karen, I have a yellow one that only comes up in the winter. It blooms all winter aand as soon as the warmth hits, it goes back underground. I have a dark pink, heavy pink, this new one is suppose to be red but closer to pink/orange. I also have a white one and another white one with the purple leaves. I can get them to grow in areas I cannot get any other ground cover to fill in so I just let it go. It is easy to control as long as you do so.
Having those three large sumac trees has cut my garden clean up by at least 75%. And neighbor pine trees have finally rid themselves of everything they needed to drop.
Morning, Mia was 62f in here this morning, I was frozen..had shut the heat off as Brian said it was way to warm for him to work, forgot to turn it up. Brrr
Rain Wednesday so hoping that my baseboard order and paint email comes to let me know it’s ready for pick up, otherwise I’ll be bringing all the wood in and doing it on craft room floor.
Sharon, cutest little plant, reminds me of 4 leaf clover..I have found quite a few plants I’ve bought over the years that come invasive, so much work pulling them out,,there is one that looks so much like phlox that I’ll wait a bit before I just might pull out phlox. Love your greenhouses..could they not backtrack the purchase if you bought it on your credit card? We have sumac that cause blisters just like poison oak, hope not your kind. You have have to pack that bag I gave you when you go on walks with the dogs..you would think cold water would be good but as you say ice cold not good.
Karen, we go from above normal to below normal in days..how are your gardens doing, you had cut back quite a bit hadn’t you?
My Ziggy has been going MIA when anyone comes in..rather strange, he use to be out wanting them to pet him but not of late..
Time to work, best I get a move on..
I am flying to Michigan on the 1oth, returning on the 25th.
Betty, we basically just have the front flower bed. Other than that some flowering shrubs here and there. Not much I can do with them any more. A friend is bringing me a few varieties of phlox. Those will go in the front and hopefully spill over the RR ties we have there to hold the good dirt in place. Elsewhere we just have that ole rock hard red clay so planting is futile.
2 weeks will be a good amount of time to have with your brother..how is he coping right now? Don’t know how people cope with the knowledge their days are few..
Not a wonder, I’d rather be playing with these pups than trim
