My new phone has not arrived so I still can't make that final transfer. UGH...

I have trying to move minor things around in the sewing room. I need to get the computer stand OUT so I can move IN the filing cabinet and a wooden cabinet that I am going to store my embroidery and other thread. I have a small Steralite drawer that I was able to get all my serger thread in & fit under the serger table.

My brother is going to help me hang the metal peg board I bought. I will hang all my hoops, embroidery machine "extension" and more. There is still way too much clutter for this room to feel "good" in. I need to find a way to weed thru more of the "stuff" and get it gone. I want to pare down to 3 rotary cutters. One for me & another person who might be with me, & one to travel with. Surely that should be enough?? I have too many cutting boards as well and when I am done moving thread to storage space, too many thread racks.

Everyone, does it ever get to the point that you feel satisfied that you have everything, everything in it's place and you are DONE?? Or does this moving & changing go on forever? (I hope not).

Well........

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

As soon as I get my sewing room organized, it last till I pull fabric and equipment to use for the next project.

Beautiful flowers Betty. Don't know what they are.

Victoria Harbour, ON

You are ambitious enough for all of us Pat, bought wood peg board for back room but never did put it up..your metal one sounds like it will be a godsend of an organizing tool..how to heck do we accumulation so much

Neighbour was just here to check up on me and water my hanging basket and we were saying how beautiful with sun setting are my gardens, what to heck will my kids do with all my sewing and garden treasures

don’t know why I didn’t lay in the lounger all day vs the couch..head still aching...

Long weekend almost at an end, find these long weekends are when I get lonesome..

Know what Pat did today but what did the rest of you do today?

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Still at quilting class, learning to make one block wonder quilts. Slow process, but I love how the blocks are coming out.

Verona, ON

Well it was 90* on Sat., then 67* on Sun and today it is high 70's but with a lovely breeze.

Today I cut the lawn, weed whacked, pulled weeds and also clipped back some branches. I think I will sleep tonight. Oh ya and I used a leaf blower. The leaf blower and I have a date tomorrow morning.

Chaos, Kai and I battled the skeeters so we could walk. They are really bad this year but at least we didn't have black flies.

Is Memorial Day in the US not a stat holiday ? We have a 3 day weekend and for once the weather has been fantastic for everyone to enjoy.

The TH are fed now I need to find something for me.

Pat I chuckled about getting everything moved and in place but Karen's comment made me laugh right out loud.

Stay safe and well.

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

We do Memorial Day here it's been moved to a Monday holiday.

I always had to clean my room and machines and put everything away between projects so i could start fresh each time. I have to pack for a trip the same way. Launder everything and put it all away and then get out what I want to pack.
Does that make me super organized or super disorganized???

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Memorial day is a national holiday for the U.S.
Karen, I wish I was half that organized.

Newcastle, ON(Zone 5a)

Good Morning all,
I have some of the tall Yellow flowers that Betty posted. They are called Rudbeckia Golden Glow.
I just got a small Cushion Spurge. I had never had one before. It forms a lovely mound. A lady was selling plants from her garden with the proceeds going to the Lions club. She had some big beautiful mounds of it in her front garden. I did way too much over the weekend and moving very slowly today.

My phone arrived about 3PM yesterday and I immediately went to the new server to have the phone switched. The old phone would NOT cooperate and I ended up having to go to one of the corporate stores to have them access the phone to retrieve the transfer pin number. It took me over 3 hours between going back to the new server twice & corporate once. I ordered a new phone case online. Now to get used to a new phone. I am NOT good with change!! Especially technology! "Techno Zero" is my superhero name. Yep, NO skill with technology!
-
My sister bought me a funky storage cabinet. It had 10 shallow drawers with NO sides on the drawers, with a hole in each drawer on the bottom. the original purpose was to store sheet music. Yesterday, I made sides out of cardboard and glued them in. I hope to get that in place soon. I am going to take my regular thread and embroidery thread and store in them. I won't get rid of my thread racks until I know whether I like this method of storage or not. Right now the racks sit on the back of one of my sewing desks. I want to get able to eliminate the clutter on the desks and be able to move the desk to a different location in the sewing room..

I got my hearing aids serviced this morning and some of my annuals planted. So at least I have something to show for today.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Evening all, don’t know where the day went but it went

Glad to see you all kept busy, hope your weather was like mine..overcast but hot and muggy so I have a/c on.

Pat, lot going on, in your life, I’m with you, not good with technology..waiting for someone to pair my printer with computer..changed ink cartridge and now says no go! You cabinet sounds like you will be able to organize yourself, threads take so much table space. When John came yesterday he brought me a box of embroidery thread black/white, thing Darlene forgot she had already ordered a box, these are 2 extra large spool, mesh cover ad even 2 bobbins..she spoils me..John has 2 young grandchildren, when they sell towels again I’ll buy some and make them bath towels peepers like you did Karen, so many designs to pick from.

Carole thanks for the name of those tall yellow flowers, omg roots same as carrot, been pulling them out like crazy..not so sure I didn’t pull out phlox..I have spurge in bloom as well, will have to look to see if like yours... can empathize with you, bones don’t move like they used to.

A lady posted on our local thread that her mother’s yard looks like a dump and people have thrown garbage bags on the yard, likely to say ‘ your yard is a dump’
If it’s the place I’m thinking of it’s a disaster but I can see the Beaty it once was, weeds took over even over the garden art..I’ll see if Ann, Marie might want to join me and pick a little area and see if it makes a difference..few hours here and there, offered, we will see if they take me up on it.

Karen you are supper organized..you know if I were to leave for town and bed or dishes in zinc I’d have to turn around to get them down

Lindakay, are they blocks within blocks?

Greg and Mel and Kyle will start coming over Wednesday nights vs Tuesday..Greg belongs to a baseball team and games are Tuesday’s.

Kyle 2as over this afternoon, brought pizza so I think I’ll have toast and hot chocolate

Looked like rain was moving in this afternoon, lots of rumbling but still no rain..are calling for early morning storm, don’t want storm but would like rain, would save me watering..getting lazy 8n my old age!! 🥰

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

We got a lovely little hard rain this evening. I appreciate the extra watering without effort like you do Betty! d

My Bishop and his sons are going to come and put up my chain link fence in the next couple of weeks. I have told him I am not comfortable with him doing it for free but is not being very open to being paid. He said to just cook burgers with sodas & chips and his boys will be happy campers. We'll see... I don't want to feel like I have taken advantage of their help.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

I was at the quilt shop for a bit this morning. Dropped of face masks, then at noon went to nail technician and got my nails done.
2 weeks ago, my sister in law posted on Facebook that my brother was having chest pains, so she called 911. The hospital checked him out, and she was told he had aspiration pneumonia, as well as a large mass in his left lung. Today the specialist to her its cancer, and very large. She was advised to take him home where family is. They live in Colorado, and they are now packing things up, to move back home in Michigan.
I will be flying there in the next week, maybe 2 to see him. So sad to hear the news.
Please keep the family in your prayers.

Oh Linda, I'm so sorry for your family.

Verona, ON

Oh Linda my heart aches for your family. I am so happy you are going to visit him Enjoy every second with him.

Yesterday Dawn had to dig out a tick from a spot I couldn't reach. I'll keep an eye on it with hopes she got it out in time. I bought her a plant when I went out as a thank you. The house always looks and smells so good after she is here.

I am not in a very good mind state right now. I have no bedding plants in the ground and have no desire to put any in. Yesterday I bought 4 gorgeous hanging baskets and that will have to do.

Geesh not having my American neighbours here for 2 years has skewed my mind. For some reason I thought Memorial Day and Victoria Day weekends were at the same time. Thanks Karen as soon as I read your post my brain went ting 'you knew that'.

Betty that is very kind of you to offer to help clean up the yard. I hope your offer is well received.

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

So sad that a previously well loved garden has fallen victim to dumping. Hopefully with help it will at least be partially restored.
Linda, how sad to find that it's cancer. I am glad you are going to see him.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Morning, sky is so heavy but so far we’ve had but a few drops ..

Lindakay it has to be so difficult on both sides .. knowing he has cancer and the visitors not really wanting to talk about final days..Roger got sick so quickly he didn’t know, at least I don’t think he did that he had but days and we offered support about plans for future. He told me the minute he was out of the hospital we would go on a very long trip...your brother will appreciate your visit..are they going back to same community where your dad lived? Lots of relations you can visit. Masks are lovely..

Dianne, overwhelming when you have loads of annuals in the gardens to not feel up to doing it..if only we lived closer..did you have trouble finding nice hanging baskets at a reasonable precise?

I will take time when I go to foodland to pass by and check the address out and see if indeed it’s where I think..got an email thanking me from the lady, she has appointments today so maybe I can make arrangement to go early morning.

Greg/Mel/Kyle coming for supper tonight, had taken out meat for souvlaki dinner yesterday when greg called to say it would now be Wednesday I put back in freezer.. this morning I took pork chops for all of 5 minutes then back into freezer and took out stewing beef so have to make quick run to foodland for veggies..

Did another edging on back patio, if it stays like it is now I should be able to get them finished and off my list of to do’s

Time to sweep front deck again, be glad then leaves are fully open and there is no more coverings all over the deck

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Thanks everyone. It will be a sad visit, knowing possibility I am saying goodbye. But I need to see him, and give him long gentle hugs.
Dianne, I hope you got the tick out in time. I hate those little buggers.

Verona, ON

Betty I got my hanging plants at Foodland. 2 for $55.00 I gasped but they were so pretty and I needed some cheering up.

No rain yet but it sure feels like it is coming. We need it badly. My Hosta are thriving. I found 2 volunteer Hostas quite a ways from my gardens. I think I will leave them there.

Have my appointment for my first vax on Tues at the local drug store. I wouldn't have known but Steve stopped in and said he had just booked his for Sat.

Safe travels LK.

Pat I so enjoy you telling us about your activities with your sister. I sure miss mine.

Betty I have used the leaf blower on my deck and steps every other day. We have a Gypsy moth invasion. As well as destroying their nests I have been killing the actual caterpillars. I will pressure wash the house and hope that will get rid of many.

Stay safe and well.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Will be difficult for sure..how long will you stay..last time was before your dad passed was it not?

Ziggy is beside me, 1st time this year he has spent most of the day out and tired him out, was 7pm I started calling him and he just came to the door.

Greg,Mel and Kyle left, their night was just starting, Kyle is moving over next few days so Mel took a few days off and Greg will help. Yesterday Greg went to the city on his spider, then to Oshawa to bring Noah to pick up his new motorcycle, rode for the day then came home..I could see total exhaustion, he beat start taking it easier. I sure don’t like the idea of Noah having a motorcycle, something else to worry about grrr.

Took a walk in that lady’s garden, just me looking around, what I saw were gardens so loved, garden art cherished, overgrown..made me so sad..if it doesn’t rain tomorrow I will go work in them for a bit..was funny, when I spoke to Mel about the gardens, she said “at that place filled with junk”, funny how I saw what was beauty and someone else a junk yard.. big sigh

Verona, ON

Yesterday when I was walking the TH I saw 2 huge patches of lily of the valley. I love them but I can't grow them. Both down here and at the farm house I transplanted several times and something comes during the night and digs them up. Weird eh ?

Sure hope the rain forecasted for here tomorrow hits. We have had no rain for days on end. The farmers sure need it.

Stay safe and well. To quote Whoopi "remember to wash your hands".

Victoria Harbour, ON

Morning, brrrr 49F with a feel like 41F..sun but calling for rain end of day..

Dianne all the storms hovering over my region must have made their way to your neck of the woods, no more then a few drops, not even enough to wet the ground.
, so who knows about the rain later today, we are in need of it.

Love lily of the valley, my favourite flower fragrance..I’ve a few growing, they seem to like the shade/damp places..was going to bring a few in so I could enjoy but because they are few thought it might be better to leave them get to healthy patches..odd indeed, wonder what animal likes them enough to keep digging them up? Maybe this time you will be lucky..

waiting for 8am to leave to work for a few hours at that lady’s house..didn’t want to go too early and have neighbours complain about weeder noise..think Marie is coming with me. If I remember to take my iPad I will take before and after of the area we tackle today..likely a bigger task than we can do but will try!!

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Good morning.

Betty, it's so nice of you to help that lady clear her yard.
I know better than to say, don't over do it. 😊

Will be going to the quilt shop today, to work on a customer quilt.

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

Lily of the valley does indeed love shade. It was one flower I could get to thrive up north. It was fine with the poor sandy soil too.

Victoria Harbour, ON

I’m back, 1 1/2 hrs Marie and I worked, would have been longer but both our batteries on trimmers died out..they worked hard, was tall grass..

We started with this..see the arch and how tall the grass was

Victoria Harbour, ON

wouldnt let me post photo but here was our starting point

Thumbnail by Bettypauze
Victoria Harbour, ON

Great progress I think..Marie and I worked our butts off lol

See the arch in this one...we moved a few things around as well..there was a bag of mulch in middle walkway of arch so spread it around...

Think great progress was made

Ohoto’s Attach when they want to. Grrrr

Plants can now breathe..

There has to be 8 of the biggest peony bushes along the property line just laden with buds..will sure look spectacular when in bloom

Nobody came out so we just did our thing, what I would have done had it been my gardens..

She had a corkscrew tree that was cut, part cut is about 6’
Would so love to have it to cement in my gardens

Not sure if we will go tomorrow, all depends on weather

Not sure if Sharon will come to do rhubarb leaves today or not..if she doesn’t means that I’ll have to throw away the rhubarb leaves that are soaking in my zinc because the veins will be soft and not make the imprint

Now it’s time to tackle my own gardens

Victoria Harbour, ON

Don’t think you can see corkscrew limb in photo or how many buds are on the peony bush

Thumbnail by Bettypauze Thumbnail by Bettypauze
(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

That corkscrew is amazing!! I had a friend with a corkscrew willow that was HUGE! It's incredible how much you two ladies got done within 3 hours!! GOODNESS!! It breaks my heart to see a place just get overrun when the gardener can no longer maintain it. We had one like that in Othello. When the gardener died, the family put out the word that anyone who wanted plants or garden art, to help themselves.

Jim Falls, WI(Zone 4a)

Betty maybe others will come and help the more they see you working on it. That was once a beautiful well loved yard.

Victoria Harbour, ON

You are right It was so loved, every time I made the turn it made me sad..
Hopefully it will be easily maintained.

As for the corkscrew piece it’s absolutely amazing..

The daughter messaged me and said that the aunt would come out and introduce herself when next we or me is there..she also said around 10 Saturday she would be there and was going to divide bleeding hearts and if I want some to drop by..

Talked with Greg and Mel last night, she is not a gardener, told them if something were to happen to me to call my friend, relatives that love gardening and let them pick art and plants then open to anyone else who might wasn’t some...

Just talked to June and Pat, we’ve sewn and done crafts for over 30+ years, where I go they go..in ’s, last of the group of girls so I told them knowing they go nowhere that they were welcome to come on Tuesday morning, try to get into a routine.

As well, called mom last night and told her to consider coming up and spending a week..she can go visit aunt Muriel during the day then come back to sleep..she is going to a specialist today so said she would think about it..if she does decide to come I will need Sharon to come help me move those boxes of flooring as they are in her room, she would be tripping on them for sure.

Ran the tub, I’m absolutely frozen..furnace back on but I can’t warm up..a good soak should do the trick.

Imagine, they are talking that we might even get snow tonight so I’ll have to bring all the planters in, that will be a chore.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

That's a lot of work. Hopefully the soak will ease your pain as well.

Verona, ON

Kudos to you and Marie Betty. What a difference already. The house needs a little loving too.

It is so cold here today I could actually have a fire in the wood stove. And just not a pancake fire. I've layered up and actually put socks on as my feet were frozen.

Forecast changed and no rain tomorrow. I'll water in the very early morning. I have been getting up between 4 and 5 am and don't want to walk the TH then. There is quite a bit of wildlife activity overnight and Kai would be running willy nilly chasing down scents.

Betty do you put epsom salts in your bath water ?.

Victoria Harbour, ON

I did Dianne, I usually buy the bags with scent, don’t know if it helps..took 2 Tylenol 3’s, did Dr.Ho for an hour, have shoulder pad holding shoulder into place..spoke with Marie and told her I’d give it a few days before going back..

I have same weather here, Hope we get rain tonight because it’s dry and gardens need it..if no rain then I will be watering tomorrow seeing it’s an even number re date so I can water.

Saw Gillean post that she is back on DG after 8 years, some of you may remember her, she lived wayyy north, had to take a train and for some reason I thing she had to take a boat to get to her place. She now lives in Cardif near Bancroft Dianne, so about 1 1/2 hrs from here. She visited once, her children must be teens now if not married..

Told her we are still here chatting p, hopefully she will drop in.

Sharon dropped in, was in town, Brian her son took a look at what flooring I bough, what he thinks I will need to get all my projects done and may start Monday..what a difference that will make to the house.

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

Betty, I am sorry you are hurting so bad. Our weather has turned cold and boy it sure makes me ache! Sending you prayers and good vibes for a better day.

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

Blessings to you, Betty & Marie, for working on that lovely (soon to be, anyway) garden!

Finished the paint-by-number Won't bear close up viewing, but I'm happy with it. Might get another.
