Thank you lk
Betty this is my 3rd minicus surgery, this one i was on a 2 step ladder the steps gave out i went straight down, no twisting or turning, it was the impact i tore it down to the root, any closer to blood supply would of been knee replacement, so im very thankful!!!! Yep sitting doing knitting, and hand sewing, i have a great orthopedic surgeon, no pain. I feel good but know not to push it lol,
Love all your st pattys decor.
Best/Worse/What did I learn today? Chat with friends, old and new..come sit a spell!
Liz, my family has forbid me from even getting on a step stool. And I have than same instruction for myself. I have a problem staying upright just walking. It has been close to a year since I have fallen but I do walk the dogs twice a day and just try to stay away form areas not level. That is so unfortunate that the ladder steps collapsed. Please share what went through your mind as you were going down. When I fall my mind always has the same thought. Oh No, I am falling.
Betty, that is a lot of snow. Where have you been all day. I am on the Board of the HOA. Last night's meeting went on until 10:30 via zoom. Then more HOA problems today with one board member. Wind and cold this morning but nothing like your area or Texas.
Linda, I heard your Governor, several mayors and so on and so forth all day on my i phone alerts. What a mess. So many people being injured. I can take the heat but th cold, no way. That is why I live in Las Vegas.
Pat, how is your weather and day. Everyone has been really quiet.
Welcome home Debbie girl, just like a mom I’m smiling from ear to ear..
Liz was this at work? How long will you be off?knew you would be doing something with your hands to pass away the day..when I’m sitting upstairs I’ve been knitting large dishcloths, starting to get tired of them lol. How is your weather?
Lindakay I’m hoping you are un bed, toasty as can be and that through the night hydro has been restored to many homes. Are they saying storms soon over?
Was listening to news last night Pat and they were saying so many areas could not get vaccines or locations were turned into shelters for those out in the cold to come in and warm up.
It’s early, have a few things I must do in town this morning,, must get sticker for my car plates, pick up replacement renewal cc card, groceries, hadn’t snowed so I haven’t to shovel so that is a good thing.
Another coffee and relax til I have to leave at 8
I'm up too Betty. It's snowing here and will continue all day. So Betty you finally did send the snow to me..
Took my Escape into the body shop and it will be out of commission for 7 - 14 days. Problem getting parts. So the dealership drove me into Kingston to get a rental. It's a new Jeep Cherokee with all the bells and whistles. My old Escape will never hold up to this.....but I won't be trading it in. I put so few miles on the Escape every year. Probably less than 5,000 km.
Oh Liz I can so feel your knee. My right knee has been operated on either 7 or 8 times starting when I was 11. The last surgery was a partial knee replacement which in hindsight should have been a full replacement.
Sharon I have a problem with balance too and often walk the woods with a cane. The TH are not on a leash so I can move freely. I never had a problem with my balance until after my DH died. Weird eh ?
LK thinking of you and your DH. Do you have a fireplace ? I saw on the news that there is a shortage of fire wood in Texas right now.
Karen how are you feeling ? I hope you got some good sleep under your belt.
Stay safe and well.
Thursday Stanley was sick after all his shots at the vet on Wednesday. He did not leave his room more than a few minutes @ 11 AM, to see who came to the front door. He said hello and went back to his bed until 4 PM. He vomited during the night for the first & only time since I have had him (adopted in May).
Stanley is SOOOOooo much better today!!! After 4 PM, he came onto my lap and we basically didn't move much! I read on my Kindle and just stroked his head and body.
We got more snow yesterday although the temperate is not terrible, about 20 F and it got up to 41 at the high yesterday.
I am supposed to have my step daughter here this weekend but we will ultimately make that decision Saturday morning. It's 4 hour drive and one mountain pass. The good news (in my opinion) is the mountain pass is within the first 1 hour of her drive and that should be the worst of it. Of course she will check traffic cameras, highway patrol etc before setting out but you still never know!
Stanley is DEMANDING attention so I will come back later.
Afternoon..
Sharon, guess it all evens out, during summer your temperatures are so high you have to stay in while here we stay in during winter months. Sounds like the HOA is a full time job, I’d be dozing off on the phone at that time.
We have a winter storm advisory, not sure where we will put all this snow, already banks are over 5’..had a good laugh, got the municipal booklet that gives info re garbage/recycle dates etc, well here in April they’ve scheduled in leaf pickup, we will be lucky if snow is off the ground let alone being out raking leaves.nice that you were able to get a rental while yours is in the shop, hope not at your cost??
Poor Stanley, glad his tummy has settled..omg when I hear pass I think of the one when I was going to Luz’s, detour because of fires..frightening to say the least..maybe her trip should be in the spring.
Laying here, tummy a tad upset...likely fried food I had awhile ago which was dinner/supper all rolled into one.
I was up early, did some of shovelling, only a few inches, headed to medical centre, doctor they say didn’t send in requisition, office closed til Tuesday so that was a waste of time...did groceries, Home Depot, went to dealership and bought a small suv, Buick Encore (black), to me same size as my hatchback cruise just higher...like you Dianne the mileage I’m doing doesn’t warrant buying another but I did..
Tempted to have a hot bath and soap... know I will be out shovelling early in the a.m.
My suv is 5 years on in June and has 8900 miles. I should have not gotten car and just use UBER. Insurance costs me $100 a month, because of my age and all of the car wrecks in my close area.
Weather here today is nice and I am going to water some propagation plants in the garage and probably start on my taxes.
Garden helper will be here Monday and Tuesday. Next week is suppose to be nice.
I watched a news report this morning while curling my hair on Texas. A total mess. Milk being dumped because it can't be pasteurized because they have no electricity. Chicks dying because they cannot keep them warm and the loss just keeps on going.
So sad. Linda, how are you doing.
Betty, I cannot believe you bought a new car that fast. You made that salesman's day. Dianne is like me, no reason with the little we drive to buy a new car.
I have not eaten yet. I must do so soon. I just wanted to check on you guys.
I will return later.
That is no miles at all Sharon, I say this will likely be my last vehicle..I have 49,980 kl
Was tired, tummy upset so I decided to crawl into bed, turned covers over, went to kitchen to get a drink for meds..climbed into bed, knee first, couch, there went my iPad screen..left upper right hand screen, wonder if I bought a screen protector if that would hold t yogether til I get a new one??
Feeling for all southern states being affected by the storm
Weather watch here tonight, goodness know what I will wake up to
I got a call today that one of my rentals water heater went out. I told management people it seems like I just bought a new one. They checked, warranty expired November 2020. $1100.
Texas looks bad. what a mess. And everyone is blaming someone else. Quit the blame game and get on fixing it.
I am going to garden in my garage tomorrow. Didn't make it there today. Too many people from the neighborhood stopped by when thy saw the garage door open.
The guard stopped by with the security cart and delivered me to pick up girl scout cookies and deliver a birthday card to a young girl down the street. I gave the cookies to my grandson and that made him very happy. Little brat is about 6'1" and weights about 160. He is 24 and in his senior year of college. Came home from Provo because he was getting anxiety attacks and his doctor thought he better come home. He was doing on line classes anyway. I told him I would teach him how to garden. He is all for that right now but wait until he has to get his hands dirty, Never happen. He has not liked his hands dirty since he was a toddler.
I was hoping to hear from Karen. I hope all is well.
Betty, you need to send us photos of your new car.
If you look real close, you will see blooms on the flowering plum tree in the greenbelt.
Darn lost a big post. Gist of it was. I'm still having a lot of swelling in my lower legs and feet. I'm trying to get out and walk to see if it helps. If not better by Monday, I will call Dr. Our street is a steep hill, no flat areas. I know I'm not up to that as yet so doing our drive way. It's long and fairly flat so 4 round trips is close to a block. Hoping to get out there at least a couple times a day. Would help if it was a wee bit warmer.
LK I hope you can soon be able to check in. Please know you are in my thoughts and prayers. Del Rio was featured again on the 11 pm news last night. You sure got a lot of snow. Have they opened up warming shelters for you all ? Were you in 1 of those long lines for water ?
My niece in Seattle is residing in a hotel room at the moment. The ice, no power and no water just proved too much for them. Laura has 2 boys under 6 plus her DH is working 24/7 with the city so the hotel seemed the best answer to some of their needs. She is a teacher so all the schools are closed too. They tried for the first couple of days staying home and used a Coleman camping stove but it just got
too cold.
I saw a great idea posted from someone in Texas. They had a tent they had never used. The put it up in the living room and filled it with lots of blankets and sleeping bags - it is as warm as toast for them to sleep in. Just wonder how they spend the rest of the day.
Oh Betty a new SUV - good for you. When do you take possession ? I hope it is 4 wheel drive and not just AWD.
Karen sending huge gentle hugs and positive thoughts you will start feeling chipper soon.
Gotta go Kai is tossing his food bowl around the kitchen. I forgot to pick it up after his breakfast.
Stay safe, well and warm.
LOl, tent was a good idea. The electrician is late, he was to finish the job he started in December.
I have not heard from my stepdaughter. assuming she is coming.
It's going to be one of those days!
Morning, well almost afternoon
Difficult waiting that long Pat for your electrician and then he is late.
Are you hoping you will get company or would you rather just mellow out this weekend?
Karen, likely a good idea to see your doctor anyway..even walking in the drive is a good thing..are you eating? Still feeling nauseated?
I too Dianne hope that all s ok with Lindakay..tent idea was smart thinking..could pretend they were camping out..I likely will get it Wednesday, have appt. Tuesday to take off winter tires and put the regular ones on.no just all wheel drive like all my other cars, snows does the trick, if it’s bad enough I stay home.
Extremely cold but sun beaming through window, showing all the dust and cat hair on coffee table t along with washing floors it’s the next to do. They had a weather warning for here last night and today but missed us do hope it didn’t end up on your neck of the woods.
So wanted to put my today’s pull back in jar but a commitment is a commitment, didn’t and thank goodness refrigerator was on wheels, got sides done and floor washed underneath, talk about dust bunnies.
Still angry with myself for smashing the iPad screen, all taped up..apparently there s a man on midland who replaces them but at what cost..he is closed until Tuesday so trying to make due..who knows maybe a trip to midland and buy a new one grrrr
Sharon , miss girl guide cooking..maple is my favourite..were you able to get all the branches out of the pond? Do the furries bother with the koi? How deep is your pond. Was wondering if koi could survive our winter?
Well, floor washing time..eyes hurting trying to see iPad screen with all the tape..have to smile , thought oh there are more cracked lines but Ziggy s next to me and it’s his hair lol
Floor washing time then I should go downstairs and tidy up my craft room
Good afternoon everyone.
Betty, can't wait to see your new car.
We are doing fine. We have had power and water since yesterday morning. Took almost all day to get the house warm. Finally about 7 last night, we both had our turn to take a nice hot shower. That felt so good. Got into our jammies, watched tv for a bit. We were in bed by 9.
Am sure the entire experience was overwhelming..bet you appreciated getting a hot shower.. do you still have the snow and cold temps?
Linda, so very thankful all seems to be getting better in your part of the world. Hoping it's all upward from here.
Waiting for a call back from a guy in barrie, apparently screen replacement is between $150-250 with 2 day turn around
Linda so pleased your power and water are back on and kudos to the hot shower.
Karen, good job on the driveway walk. That will help immensely. Moving those muscles and lungs are very important.
Pat, did your electrician show up. Waiting sucks.
Dianne, sounds like your niece and family made the right decision.
So Betty, how much is a new I Pad. I am with you on moving the fridge and cleaning that area. I think I would have cheated and put the slip back in the jar.
We didn't do much today. Walked the dogs twice, gave them a bath after first walk and i finally watered the propagation plants in the garage. It was very windy today and cold, for us, so we didn't venture out much. Tomorrow looks like the weather is going to be better. I have some trees in pots that blown over. That usually means they are dry. So I will go out tomorrow, put them back where they belong and then water.
Take care everyone. Hugs, Sharon
Sharon, likely an $800 purchase with having all information transferred.
As for jar tasks, I’d love to put some back in jar but think they would always stay at bottom of jar so I get them done...
That’s a big undertaking the washing of the dogs...never thought about pots rolling from being dry, we usually get enough rain that it’s not an issue.
Hope you are all in a deep sleep, thinking of getting up as I’ve been watching movie for past hour and wad awake..amber alert n my head bad last few days grr
Good morning everyone.
All is good here. Snow is all gone. It was 63 degrees yesterday.
Morning, -9 but so far sun s shinning,,should get out and do back deck steps, front gets mega sun so they are dry.
Great new Lindakay, a few days after the storm you are in the 60’s, mind boggling.
Didn’t sleep well so m slow moving this morning, still in nighty, more for comfort than anything else, dishwasher/washing machine going and I’m ready to do my to do..clean tracking on chairlift..only a few minutes for that job.
Put messenger and Facebook on my lap top seeing greg will pick up my I pad later, didn’t want to feel I couldn’t be in touch with anyone, that way should something go wrong all is not lost
Enjoying sunshine, wish I had more cotton for dishcloths, that would occupy my time while sitting here but all used up, will have to pick some up. When SHARON and don dropped in yesterday she went to sit on the black and white throw with pink flowers, noticed one of the centres was half lifted, took t downstairs and appliqué’d it, messaged her and sad next time she visits don’t look so close lol
So as you can seem boring day for me..
Sure hope you all have something more exciting going on
LK I am so glad to read all the snow is gone. Someone from Del Rio needs to tell the national news that as they are still showing clips of snow, traffic stuck in snow, line ups of people for water - probably just old clips but I was worrying for you and your DH. What did you do with the dogs during this time ?
Well Mr Kai is just too smart for me. I just whisked into the village for something yesterday - I wasn't gone 40 min. Thought I had Kai proofed the house. Came home and found 2 remotes in pieces on the LR floor. Forgot Kai now knows how to open drawers.
How is Stanley now Pat? You've got yourself a real companion with him.
Karen good for you on your walking. How did you fare overnight?
Betty I am with Sharon - I might have cheated and put the slip back in the jar.
Come out of hiding Debbie. We missed you.
Shower time. I walked the TH after we got up this morning. Well Kai had been up for ages but Chaos and I ignored him for a bit. I dressed too warmly for our walk so needed to cool down a bit before I showered.
Stay safe and well
Electrician did come & finished 30 minutes before my stepdaughter, Rebecca, got here. We ate a quick bowl of homemade stew and then our hired help showed up to load the desk & secretary. The roll top desk is a BEAST. I am sure that my helpers were grateful that is the LAST time they will ever have to move to that! Rebecca and I have 3 boxes & one satchel to load up before she leaves. I would have loved to have the guys put those in the cab of the truck but Rebecca needed to move some stuff around first.
The restaurants have opened and Rebecca took me out to eat. There was only one other table occupied. Other than when I took Marie to Idaho, that is the first time I have been IN anywhere to eat in a year.
Stanley is feeling much better and I am grateful. This is the first time in a year that I have seen Rebecca due to Covid, so this is her meet & greet with Stanley. She & her husband have 2 15 YO cats.
LindaK, so glad to hear you have electricity & water!!! YEAH!!! Rebecca was supposed to be "loaned" the Texas site beginning in January but Boeing postponed the transfer, she dodged that bullet!!! Each of the engineers on her team have been loaned to Texas for 1 year, she has not yet done her stint there.
I had a good night, only up twice. Today it's almost nice out so I walked twice as far. I still have the swelling but I feel better for it.
Bryan was out tinkering with his new Harley. I guess even new ones require tinkering. He and the neighbor were talking a ride and I just heard him pull out.
Snow is gone, but there are lots of lines for free food and water, as our faucet water is not safe to drink. Food in grocery stores is all gone. Everyone here lost power, so all the food in the fridge and freezers spoiled. We were told it might be days before the stores are stocked again.
Sounds like you are well on your way Karen..did you make a doctors appointment?
Boys and there toys
Pat, nice to get out, where the eats delicious, when will Rebecca leave for home? Does she not want to relocate for a year?
Hope you have a lot of dry foods Lindakay? I imagine restaurants although open would have difficulty getting supplies.. must be difficult standing in a line up to get food.
Wonder where our Susan is..anybody heard from her..hope she and bob are ok
Debbie and Dianne, did you get this beautiful sunshine day?
Dianne, hope the remotes weren’t damaged beyond use..Mr. Kia is one smart puppy..
And Deb was your area struck by storms as well?
SHaron, did you get outside to play
Imagine, I’ve been in bed since 4, not feeling good, can’t put my finger on it..not really sick but sick if you know what I mean
Using iPad until greg gets here to pick it up, I’ll miss it..left all lights on and door unlocked..greg is out snowmobiling so not sure what time he will be here, didn’t feel like staying up waiting so if I fall asleep he will just have to wake me
Rebecca left this morning. She will stop off & see more family on the way back to Seattle. It was so good to see her. I was very blessed with the family I married into. She has mixed feeling about the "loan" to Texas. It just keeps getting rescheduled, she doesn't like having her life on hold, I understand that! She really wants to purchase a different home, rather than the 3 story beautiful home they are in. The stairs are killing her! The entry level only has the garage, guest bedroom and a full bathroom, middle floor the living room, dining area & huge open kitchen, 1/2 bath. The 3rd has nice Master bedroom & master bathroom, laundry room, another bedroom & full bath. It's a beautiful and unique home but not one I would want!
When I said Rebecca "dodged that bullet" I meant she had missed the Texas storms. Boeing would love to transfer her there permanently but she won't agree to that. She does have to take her 1 year rotation there. She just wants to get it over with so it's not hanging over her head, never knowing when it will be.
Unfortunately, with the stores emptied, it will be a while to get restocked and it becomes a "scarcity" mentality where people buy up all they can because they are afraid, which only triggers MORE empty shelves. I do hope the stores are "rationing" what they have so everybody gets "some", not just the first in line!
Our temperature is up, the snow is melting like crazy. I am just praying no flooding.
Had a great day. No wind, sunny and high 50s. I back washed the Koi pond, turned my compost pile, waters all the pots in the back and then headed to the front and courtyard. Hand watered all the dry areas and pots. Then moved a few items in the garage so I could get water to some pots on the shelf in the font window of the garage.
Then I made a quick trip to Costco to exchange some pants. I got a size 10 and they were too big. I purchased some 8's but have not tried them on yet. Wish me luck.
a bunch of neighbors having a ball game in the green bowl and stopped and talked to them.
Betty, I wish we could come up with a solution of your ear alert. Glad you listened to your body and rested.
Linda, so happy your weather has decided to back off.
Pat, sounds like you had a wonderful visit. I am so pleased Stanley is feeling better. My animals do that very once in a while. And it is usually a weekend so you have no hope for a vet. You have waited for the electrician since December and it only took 30 minutes.
Karen, good that you are still making progress. My son, the doctor in Spokane, says motorcycles keep them in business. And the smartest thing I ever did as a mother was not allow him to buy one when he was underage.
Dianne, dogs are so smart. And fully of mischief. While my son was here, we went out sushi. Came home to a roll of toilet paper scattered all over the great room and hallway. I have been leaving the toilet paper on the back of the toilet because the cat has been shredding it and then lying on it. The cat must have knocked it off and then they, the cat and dogs tore it up and scattered it.
Tomorrow and Tuesday my garden worker will be here and we hope to get our hill done. Suppose to be great weather for two days.
Hugs to all of you. Be safe. Sharon
Then I came home and walked the dogs for the second time.
LK glad to hear that you have power, and Karen, happy you're feeling better. Congrats on the new car, Betty.
It's been a busy week here. We got the snow and frigid temps, which were bad enough. Last Monday I got the call from the nursing home that my 97 year old Aunt died. My brother and I are her only relatives, so, a lot to deal with.
One of my girls that I wanted to breed last year came in season. Last Thursday we made the drive to the vet in Shawnee, OK. It was interesting, driving through St Louis about 5am, I picked up a Toronto radio station for almost a half hour. 740AM, I think it was. Got the breeding done Saturday, and drove home yesterday. Still exhausted, but, back at work.
Interesting, after only ever living in this area to see how what would be a little snow for us can shut down a city. Just never thought about it before. Lots of Texas folks at the motel.
Yes, when an area that does NOT get snow, gets it, the area does not have the equipment to handle it or the experienced drivers! Our area here doesn't get LOTS of it normally but we are not completely helpless (We do have some snow plows) and our school buses have chains if needed. .
The electrician was here from 9 to 3, so it took a while to finish! It is so nice to have light switches where I NEED them!!! The sewing area was terrible. The only switch for over 1/2 the lights was next to the front door, which was fine if that area had all been open (like it was before I changed things up). There was NO switch on the far opposite side of the room. That is all changed now & much appreciated. With the construction of the new wall, I added one plug in facing out into the entry of the house & 4 more in the sewing room, 1 of those a dedicated circuit.
Sorry to hear about the death of your aunt, there will be a lot to arrange for I am sure.
Rebecca, my stepdaughter, never made it back to Seattle last night. She stopped to see more family in Yakima and the mountain pass got closed. She had the foresight to pack her work computer with her, and the furniture is well wrapped and tarped, so she will be fine. She will get to enjoy some extra time with family.
My 2nd vaccination is scheduled for Wednesday. That likely will put a kink in my Sewing Expo plans of Thursday since frequently the worse reactions are to the 2nd shot for at least 24 hours. Expo is online this year and I still need to take care of some of the set up.
I am going to go thru the house and move Adam's junk food to a kitchen cabinet, off the kitchen counter. Hopefully out of sight will make it easier to resist. I am eliminating the refined carbohydrates in hopes of reducing some of the inflammation and pain in my knees and ankles.
Karen, I hope you are continuing to improve.
Linda, electricity restored, now to get food and water!!
Be well, be safe!
Psychw. Be reassured about that second shot. Myself, my DH, and my DIL's father all have had good experiences. Sore arms, but that is all. Even that resolved in a day. So a bad experience is not inevitable.
LOL... that is good to know. My niece, who has been scheduling for me, first & second vaccines, said that her friends reported flu-like symptoms after the 2nd shot. What I have read is that the reactions were generally more severe after the 2nd, than the first. Either way, I have already had my first, the 2nd is scheduled and I AM getting the 2nd. My experience is, there is NEVER a good time to schedule something that MAY result in unpleasant side effects so you might as well suck it up, and do it!!
Stillwood, welcome, I don't believe I have met you here before & I hope to "see" more of you here !
Good afternoon, lots of chatter with no ipad it took me forever to get Facebook, Messenger and Daves Garden on my laptop..
Snowing and blowing here, now I see a tad of melting from the roof, worries me because its so heavy at this point, hope those that build it did it to support our amount of snow.
Before I start rambling I want to welcome Stillwood, been quite awhile but think you were posting with us years ago.. am I correct??? If not a special welcome, home to you to chat..can you tell us a bit about yourself??
I DID NOT sleep at all last night, watched movies and Netflix and every movie I watched had areas we the Roadtrip girls had been to, big sigh, will we ever get to travel again..when numbers of Covid diminish maybe a trip out west..thought I would be exhausted but much going on so my adrenaline is going at high speed so here I am wide awake.
Condolences Deb, difficult to lose a loved one, with being her only family you and your brother will have a lot to do..are funerals limited to numbers in your area? Wow that was quite a trip, hope the breeding will be successful. Sharon did 2 breedings, 1 resulted in 1 puppy and the other lost the puppy she was carrying so think until she can safely get to USA for breeding she will not try by semen again.
Nice visit Pat, Rebecca was indeed wise to not push the driving, gives her time with family and she will enjoy that... so with the electrical now done does that finish your room project? Let's hope the 2nd shot doesn't have any after effects..likely I wont have availability of the shot till perhaps late summer so have to stay housebound
Dianne, hope you aren't getting this storm and that Kia isn't getting the best of you lol.
Sharon, I'm at wits end, thought pain was bad but the amber alert noise in my head is getting to me..seems worse when I'm laying down..last night I positioned the bed so I was almost sitting, didn't help a lot... still a few months before I see the specialist. When you say you cleaned the Koi pond, how are you able to do so, am trying to remember, was right in front of where I was sitting I believe..would you have to get in like I do for my pond?? when nursery opens and I get the pond going I'll check about the pro's and con's of getting Koi, would hate to get them if I know this will die during the winter. Size 8, I only wish, lucky you. Wish you lived closer so you could give me points of plants and koi.
Greg was here at 6:30am, was disappointed that he didn't come last night to pick up the ipad to deliver for repair in Barrie only to find out he called several time to say he and Mel were with a bunch snowmobiling only to find out phones weren't working. I called rogers, individual said he would so some work on it, had me do a bunch of things, I asked before he was going to do his process would it mean that I could end up with no internet and t.v.??? won't happen he says, 10 minutes later he is telling me he will have a serviceperson come within 72 hours..told him absolutely not, he worked on it for 20 more minutes and finally I had phone, internet and t.v., just goes to show you..I was just getting off the phone when Greg came.
Spoke to Marc who is doing repairs as I have to do e-transfer when he is done, he said he was working on another this morning and would try to get a new screen on this afternoon and Greg can pick it up, if not tomorrow if all goes well..have no clue how they do repairs of screens, sounds iffy to me
just had chicken alfredo, have enough for supper so no cooking tonight. know Greg and Mel said Tuesday nights they will come for supper every week, before I defrost a turkey..best I check it out, bought it and set it on back deck, looks like its mild enough its melting, front deck is a pool of water, who knows maybe its already defrosting and i'll be cooking it regardless if they are coming.
Have to be in Midland at 8am in the morning, dealership wants regular tires and rims on the car when I turn it in so off they come, hope not stormy tomorrow or Wednesday when I go in the get my Encore. Winter tires won't fit my car so guess come fall I'll have to buy snow tires.
Guess I've chatted enough, between no sleep and eating I could have a nap but want to fight it, would like to do more on penguins, did more this morning and started to randomly sew whatever fabric I have for St. Patricks day into size of a little throw just to get rid of it so nap or go downstairs..ziggy is napping so just maybe I should as well.
Did not mean to intrude. I mostly stick to Coffee and Chair (which is very quiet these days). Do not do much posting at all. Just wanted to offer a bit of reassurance as it is vital for all who medically can to be vaccinated. It is the only path out of this societal nightmare. The virus will never totally disappear (fact of nature) but can be contained over time just as influenza is handled. In the meantime it is comforting to be fully vaccinated although it does not change the need for mitigating behaviors for some time to come. Best wishes to all of you.
I'm glad to hear you didn't have side effects. I have an appointment for my second shot tomorrow.
Stillwood, no intrusion at all, we all love to meet new friends, you would go a long way to find friendlier gals than you will find here..hope you continue to join us.
Appreciate your input on Covid vaccine, the more info we have to make it less worrisome the better. I'd be 1st in line if I was in category to get it..right now front line workers and those in senior facilities. Looking forward to hearing how the ladies here fare with theirs.
Karen, know yesterday you took on a lot with walking quite a bit more, how is it going today? Did you decide to make appointment with the doctor?
Greg just called, he has to work late so he is hoping Marc who is doing repairs to my ipad will call so he can quickly drive over and pick it up and return to work.. crossing my fingers.
Did I mention earlier (guess I could check lol) that I need plate renewal for my vehicle, was dreading going and standing in long lineups in this storm but with technology I did it online..hurrah for me.
I didn't call today Betty, I added one more round trip today. I think it's a bit better. will see in a couple more days. Dogs go out with me when I walk. They must think I'm nuts going up and down the driveway. Each round is 260 steps so not too bad if I can do at least 4 rounds.
My daughter had a fish pond in MI probably close to same weather as you Betty. Her fish survived the winter as long as she had a bubbler to keep a bit of open water. Her pond was 18 inches deep and I think I saw it needed to be that much.
Also made 4 trips on the stairs today. It's still hard but determined to be able to get back to sewing room. I have a few things to finish and then I will make the hard decision about continuing to sew or starting to sell it all.
Please you are up and about Karen and getting yourself fit, likely take you awhile
Oh Lordy, maybe see some equipment but not all, just wouldn’t be you, even if it’s a few seems..you know my love of decorating at Christmas, the year Roger died everyone went and packed up my house seeing as I was with him in hospital at Christmas till his death New Year’s Day, when I got home I gave every bit of it away, never wanted to see decorations ever again, few years went by and I realized not only had I lost Roger bu part of me, look at me now, totes galore for every holiday and festivity, it’s ME..same as sewing with you, mits part of you...one machine, acutter, ruler is all you absolutely need.
Thanks for info on koi, have to see how much for bubbler and cost of running it.. sure would hate to take a liking to them and finding them dead come spring
Well I am doing happy dance..greg dropped off my iPad..will get out and get a case for it and screen protector
My daughter's pond did so well that she would have more fish in the spring than she had in the fall. They were busy little buggers under the ice.
Worked on doing the stairs today, made five or six trips and got laundry done. It was hard slow going but maybe in a few days it will get better.
No improvement in the swelling so guess I'd best call in tomorrow. Didn't call today as their Monday phones are hard to get through.
I haven't been here for awhile. Lots going on in our lives.....
Betty - I liked this post:
Quote from Bettypauze :
interesting
Subject: Suggestions from Dr. Bonnie henry on COVID-19 - a worthy read......
For those of us who have gotten a tad paranoid...
A voice of reason. . . . Be Healthy, be happy and be safe. Dr. Henry is the Provincial Health Officer for British Columbia, the first woman in this position. She is also an associate professor at the University of British Columbia. She has a background in epidemiology and is a specialist in public health and preventive medicine. She is also from PEI.
The Wisdom of Dr. Bonnie Henry
1. We may have to live with COVID-19 for months or years. Let's not deny it or panic. Let's not make our lives useless. Let's learn to live with this fact.
2. You can't destroy COVID-19 viruses that have penetrated cell walls, by drinking gallons of hot water you'll just go to the bathroom more often.
3. Washing hands and maintaining a two-meter physical distance is the best method for your protection.
4. If you don't have a COVID-19 patient at home, there's no need to disinfect the surfaces at your house.
5. Packaged cargo, gas pumps, shopping carts and ATMs do not cause infection, if you wash your hands, live your life as usual.
6. COVID-19 is not a food infection. It is associated with drops of infection like the 'flu. There is no demonstrated risk that COVID-19 is transmitted by food.
7. You can lose your sense of smell with a lot of allergies and viral infections. This is only a non-specific symptom of COVID-19.
8. Once at home, you don't need to change your clothes urgently and go shower! Purity is a virtue, paranoia is not!
9. The COVID-19 virus doesn't hang in the air for long. This is a respiratory droplet infection that requires close contact.
10. The air is clean, you can walk through the gardens and through parks (just keeping your physical protection distance).
11. It is sufficient to use normal soap against COVID-19, not antibacterial soap. This is a virus, not a bacteria.
12. You don't have to worry about your food orders. But you can heat it all up in the microwave if you wish.
13. The chances of bringing COVID-19 home with your shoes is like being struck by lightning twice in a day. I've been working against viruses for 20 years — drop infections don't spread like that!
14. You can't be protected from the virus by taking vinegar, sugarcane juice and ginger! These are for immunity not a cure.
15. Wearing a mask for long periods interferes with your breathing and oxygen levels. Wear it only in crowds.
16. Wearing gloves is also a bad idea; the virus can accumulate into the glove and be easily transmitted if you touch your face.
17. Better just to wash your hands regularly.
18. Immunity is greatly weakened by always staying in a sterile environment.
19. Even if you eat immune boosting foods, please go out of your house regularly to any park/beach.
20. Immunity is increased by EXPOSURE TO PATHOGENS, not by sitting at home and consuming fried/spicy/sugary food and aerated drinks.
21. Be smart and stay informed! Live life sensibly and to the fullest.
22. Be Kind, Be Calm and Be Safe!
Sincerely, Dr. Bonnie Henry
Betty - there are a LOT of misinformed people who say the opposite. I keep saying that we Shouldn't be sterile. Always safe, thoughout our whole life, not just this .......... pandemic. Frankly, I think it's way overdone. A whole YEAR to take care of this by being controlled is WAY too much time for the medical community to get Anything under control. And before anyone talks about how some aren't careful enough, remember the days when kids were sent to the neighbourhood kids' place to CATCH diseases? Maybe we need to follow a bit more of #18 in this post.
I have been saying the same as #15 since last April. I hear from friends that relatives are having more gum disease & tooth decay when they are fastidious about mouth care. Too much breathing of Co2 is NOT healthy. As for time of wearing - I heard that 20 min is the maximum, not hours as some people do. Wearing a mask in a vehicle by yourself, or outside with no one within 30 feet of you is too much.
Ok - off my soapbox now.
