Have someone coming to look at Featherweight in a couple hours. Hoping that will be one gone. We really need to have a garage sale this year. We talk about it every year but there is so much stuff out there that we haven't even looked for let alone unpacked so it can go away.

Victoria Harbour, ON

That is no easy undertaking Karen, garage sales are quite a lot of work..could you not take a box at a time, go through it and put it on your local marketplace or kijiji as you might get more $$ than a garage sale,

Sure wish I lived closer because the Featherweight might have come home with me.

Just finished lunch, couch looking mighty comfy as I sip on another coffee and watch news, could so easily nap but I did finish pinning the flange binding on Santa quilt so should push myself to go sew it, then decide where I want the leaves

Verona, ON

Dull dreary day here. Some sun would be nice.

Deb Chaos is doing quite well with Kai. He engages freely with Kai outside but not so much inside. He just ignores Kai. Kai is a handful but I wouldn't have it any other way.

There was a fire Thursday night/Friday morning in the village. McMullen Manor that was originally built as a Seniors Home but is now for those on social assistance. Everything was lost and every apartment dweller is displaced. The village has stepped up and donated clothes, linens and kitchenware but we have been asked to stop that. Gifts of money are requested so Gift cards can be bought. I'm not so sure about that though.

I might have a nap. Kai really ramps into high gear around midnight.

Stay safe and well.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Dull here as well Dianne, snow to arrive later tonight.

How awful about those poor souls losing everything, overwhelming at best of times but add Covid and winter, shaking my head, how dreadful. I can see perhaps them needing money cards vs items donated as likely they are in temporary homes. Am sure the town is doing everything possible for them.

I love the name Kai, sure wish you could post a photo.. a puppy for sure would be a handful..Sharon is feeling much the same, living her time with new addition but it’s tiring her out.

Had a nap, furnace at 75 and I’m still freezing and aching so ran the tub, I must be one of the cleanest persons with taking 2-4 baths a day..maybe it will regenerate me.

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

I guess one benefit of a gift card, you can buy the size you need! The hardest part for me to "lose everything" is my shoes!!! I don't have a lot, I have a VERY difficult time getting shoes to fit. I would never find anything local to wear!

Karen, good luck with sewing machine sale. I HATE yard sales, I only agreed to have one last year as a way to help my granddaughter earn money she needed to pay for drivers education.

I don't have the stamina for a puppy!!! Let alone at midnight! I am so grateful that Stanley rarely interrupts my sleep. I shut him out of my bedroom at night, and he leaves me alone until he sees the light turn on in my bedroom. Then he starts banging on the door and begging for attention.

I think that when I sit against the big heating pad against my back, a blanket over me, Stanley on my legs, THAT's about the right temperature! Every so often he gets too warm, hops down & stretches out on the wood floor to cool off.

LOTS to do and I need to get on it.

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

Sewing machine sold. I was sure it would. It was a very nice machine.
We think a garage sale would be best as we would get it over in a week-end. There are 4 adults here and the kids are all older too so plenty of help with it.

Listing the items would mean people traipsing in and out for who knows how long.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Congrats Karen, will you now list another? Was it someone you knew?
We missed out on garage sales this year, not that I go to many , sometimes just looking for garden art, I imagine it will be same this year..it’s ok, safety first!

Pat do you shop at shoe specialty shops?
Ziggy is crawled next to me, as I pet him I hear him purr, brings down the stress of the day

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

Karen, you make an excellent point, AND frankly the yard is outside and during SET times so not as tied down over and over.

Yes, I shop at a specialty wide shoe store in Spokane, I also special order some. When I find something I like that fits, I order them in several colors and sometimes spares in black, in case they get discontinued!!! LOL

I sat down for a nap and woke up about 4 hours later! OOoops. There were things I was supposed to do today. I did get my dining room table rehomed to my former DSIL Karen and haircut. Karen & I sat and talked, it was so nice, she is one of my favorite people and we don't get together much.

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

I have a hard time getting a good fitting shoe. I actually wear an 8 3/4. 8 1/2 is too small and 9 is too big. Also a wide foot, very high arch and instep.
Appointment tomorrow with gastro Dr. Not looking forward to it, I know we are going to be in disagreement. He's going to want to do "procedures" and I don't want them. I'm only going at insistence of Oncologist.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Morning,

Karen, I am sure you will hold your ground with the specialist, you know your body, know how you are feeling but it is good that you will see him, get details so you know exactly what you are saying no to. I’m like you, depending on make at 7 1/2 har either too tight or too big. I need slippers, they come in 7 or 8 so I always get the 7, uncomfortable for awhile but they stretch. We did have a specialty shoe store in Midland but when the mall reorganized and upgraded to outdoor entrances for each store vs people being able to walk around freely they moved to Barrie.
I haven’t bought good dress shoes in over 5 years, sandals or runners, not great for keeping foot structure intact, feet getting wider..

No great amount of snow, more rain, freezing rain..lifted my wipers up as I put trash to roadside and have been running the car to clear windshield, have to go get meds in town so want to do it at 9 before bad weather comes.

Have to smile, when going to the pharmacy is highlight of the day, it’s sad! Lol

Tomorrow weather permitting I am going to try out a few vehicles, not sure if I want to go one side smaller or one larger..don’t really travel much anymore (without considering Covid) and all decided we would do our Roadtrips in Canada now, we have not done west of us, did all east of us so I will work on a trip outline, will give me something to do and look forward to in aug/sept if things improve. So Susan we may be heading your way 🇨🇦🥰

Well I picked my chore of the day, a 2 minute job so I will include the 2 stained glass lamps as well and that should get me to 9am for pharmacy pick up..

then it’s the sewing room for me, I will work on my 2nd January challenge between Sharon and I, she told me she hasn’t started on her 2 so maybe I’ll win lol

Karen, bet the buyer of the sewing machine will be working with it today..lol

So what is on all of your agenda’s

Good morning.
I love those hearts.

If I were you, I wouldn't go with a smaller vehicle. There will be times you will need that bigger one, and will be kicking yourself.

4 of us are going to the quilt shop for lunch. It is the owners birthday. 76 years young.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Sounds like a wonderful day you have planned, I envy you all

am surprised though with numbers rising fabric shops are still open, wish ours were open, can do curb-side pick up though..am so glad I had a stash lol

Want to thank you all for your posts, living alone and trying to live within the guidelines of lockdown is difficult mentally, my sewing helps but virtual contact aa blessing..so again thanks for taking time to post, for you it’s just a post, for me a lifeline.

Betty - in Ab, if you live alone you are "allowed" 2 of the same people to visit you so that you have company. Is it different on On? They're deemed "in your bubble".

I'm still ironing the paint-by-number canvas - those creases are really set in. Got them about 3/4 ironed out but is going to take another day of ironing to get them out. There's quite the border around the picture and 2 clips & tiny screws so it can be mounted on a board for hanging.
So funny that my daughter thinks we need to occupy our time hahaha

Yes Susan is the same, i’m Allowed another household so it’s Greg and Melanie and Kyle..

Now I have allowed a few others to drop in but it’s someone usually on their own and go nowhere..I shop and do things with Sharon, I pick up things for her and she the same..we cook big amounts of food for meals and share, lessens having to cook.

Your painting projects sounds like quite a piece that you will enjoy hanging, told a few friends about it..might order one for my mom..could you get a cloth, Dampen it and set it on the crease then give a light iron? I think it was a very thoughtful gift, she must have put a lot of thinking into it

Dianne, one of my longest friends, about 50+ years just called, we chatted for an hour, that is lots for me as I’m not a phone person..her husband has been fighting cancer for the past year, not doing so good, she also drops in on her mom who is 99, lives on her own and quite active so she has her hands full...nice catching up.

Dropped in for a few groceries, been hungry for a hamburger so bought 6 patties, yikes $14.98..here I am in the aisle asking myself what I needed to have as toppings..now that is sad lol

getting comfy on the couch, best I get mobile.

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

I'll try the damp cloth, Betty - good suggestion. Michelle (DD) and Lonnie (DSIL) gave us a lb of coffee too - it's really nice Fair Trade coffee from Stone Temple called Shrunken Head hahaha She meant to send Highland Grog, but this is nice as well.
Here, we aren't allowed the whole household, only 2 people if you live alone. Can be from different households. Not sure what can be done for us, as we're a couple. Nothing is clear about that. Also, we aren't to gather inside OR outside.
Strange thing - in a retail store, we can gather to the limit of the store, but not in our homes where you actually KNOW the people & where they've been, etc.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Likely Susan so that entire families don’t die of Covid as many are doing..

I’m a tasters choice coffee drinker, not much for trying other

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

There is a storage company with a big billboard thing that posts a new saying every week or so, many of them simply adorable. Before Christmas, it said "We can't gather together for Christmas so we'll meet you at Walmart, aisle 6 @ 10.30".

I went online and looked at those paint by numbers and put a number of them into the "cart:" and want my grandson Aiden to pick one of them The small bedroom he is going to get at my house (IF they do move it) has an area above the headboard that I was planning to do a big piece of poured acrylic art for. I have held off now for him to make the selection. I choose stuff I thought would look good with the current wall color & bedspread that would appeal to him. We'll see.

My name was chosen for 2 hours of few dog training (I entered at son's request) and need to contact them and start process. I would like to work with Adam's lab Nova and see if I can improve her manners.

I hope to move furniture in sewing room today. Yesterday besides my haircut and visiting with my Former SIL for 1.5 hours, all I did was nap! Hopefully I will do better today!

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

yeah Pat - multiple families can meet @Walmart. Makes no sense to me.

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

Gastro Dr. visit went well. He does want to do an EGD as the G.A.V.E. can come back and I'm OK with that. He is a good listener and seemed to value my opinion too.
I'm hoping the bleeding isn't back but if it is I'm comfortable with him taking care of me.

Now down to the basement to sew for a bit.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Was worth going then Karen.. are to tests to confirm your if you are still bleeding?

Pat, that is not far from the truth, Walmart gathering is approved..

Yep, you are not going anywhere Betty! LOL whatta need a new car for, you are staying home? LOL
Milan is one GORGEOUS puppy!
Karen, I am happy to hear that it sounds like you have found a good respectful MD willing to listen to you!

Las Vegas, NV(Zone 9a)

Betty, I will try to post everyday even if it is nonsense.

I purchased a Honda CRX small SUV. USA price is around $29,000.

Our weather is holding in mid 60s. when there are no clouds, it is wonderful. You all must realize we are spoiled in Las Vegas and get really cold when it is in the 60s.
February is when we get the wind.

After removal of my very gigantic sumac trees removed, the stumps were ground last week in the back and the stumps in the front will be ground down Thursday. I have a plan in my head and my garden helper does not agree with me about the design in th front. I told him it is a good thing it is my garden.

Betty I read o Yahoo this evening about a wife that was walking her husband on a leach. It was after curfew and you could only go out to walk your dog. This was in Canada and they fined the husband and the wife $12,000. She said she is not paying the fine.

I walk my dogs in the neighborhood twice a day and if we run into someone we keep our distance. I do not go outside when my pool man or mow and blow guy is here. My other gardener, wears a mask.

My manicurist got Covid and her husband, daughter, one son and DIL of other son got it right before Christmas. They all went to an outdoor Christmas lighting ceremony. It was outdoors but that was the only place they were all together and they all got it the same day. They were not very sick, but iy did put a big damper on their Christmas.

I have a handyman coming tomorrow to fix some electrical. Pella windows was here last week and is going to fix some of my windows and a few door locks that are misbehaving. When I accept their proposal, they will be just over 2 months before I get to the top of the schedule. But the problem with Pella windows is not everyone knows how they work.

I am slowly purging my home of things. I may be ready to move in two more years. Prices of homes just keep climbing.

My daughter does the majority of my grocery shopping. And I m finally cutting back on my grocery buying because I thought I needed it and then would just end up giving it away.

Pat, my son lives in Spokane so I check their weather daily. Looks like you may get some stormy weather.

My granddaughter and her DH and baby left Saturday and went back to St Louis. They were here close to a month. He is doing med school on line and her job with Adobe is on line, so they decided to spend it here where it was warmer. They had to return because he had some schooling he couldn't do on line. Baby is 10 moths old and my daughter was totally wore out but they all had a great time. First time in over 3 years she had all of her children home. Everyone had the test and then they didn't go anywhere.

Time for me to hit the bed. Betty I will get on earlier tomorrow so you can have my company.

Hugs to all of you.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Morning all, it’s a day of melting, Drats I had forgotten I put about $100 of meat/turkey and 3 large containers of spaghetti sauce in the back entry and thought no more of it because it’s winter and would stay frozen, nope all melted so garbage it went..

Thanks you kindly Sharon for understanding you guys are my lifeline,
Too funny about lady walking her hubby but that’s is where we are at, charges can be made and I guess that is where we have to be as it seems to me all wear masks but big gatherings still happening..I will as it’s mild open doors and w8ndows and let fresh air in.

Linda my SIL has a CRX, wayyy more here but it’s a beautiful stylish vehicle.i did cancel my visit at the dealership mostly because I wasn’t up to it, almost felt like I had flu but how can you catch flu when you don’t go out??
I thought of you yesterday, saw a video where a lady was taking flowerettes from of succulent plants, she had a pot of soil and she laid each little piece on the top of the ground and time lapsed, beautiful full pots of succulents, wondered if that is how you do it??

How wonderful you got to see the baby and your family , bet they are amazed at how well you are doing, the purging the gardening and keeping yourself well.

Sharon went to Walmart early this morning to do her groceries, dropped off on her way home to drop off 4 banana loafs so now I’ll have yummies to go with hot chocolate.

My brother Bernie’s wife makes tortierres, apple fritters etc and is dropping off a box at her house today, doubtful he will drop off here so I gave Sharon their Christmas gifts..he has been chopping wood for the winter and has bad lungs, I am hoping that the neck warmer with deer Hyde will help him.

Well, I must get off couch and do something..

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

Spokane a ways from here, and they generally get much more snow then us. It's really high winds today. Yesterday it was 57 degrees! I don't want to jinx and say what a mild winter we have had so far. My petunias plants are still wonderful!!! no blooms but the plants look awesome.

I have chauffer duty today. Son, wife & daughter spent last night and Samantha has a DDS appointment I need to take her to. The others were headed out & back today to look at a piece of property. Staying at my house put them 2 hours closer to destination.

I did NOT get the cabinet moved, it was too much for me alone, son got into late and I was in bed, gone before I was up!!! Maybe when they get back today... or hire neighbor, or ask Sam for help. One way or another that cabinet is MOVING. It is holding up progress in the sewing room.

What are the rest of you up to?

Victoria Harbour, ON

High of 32F here but that Is unusually high for us as well and nope, not complaint! My bones are thanking Mother Nature not having to shovel.are they Pat the family that may move 8n with you? Glad you have help and not try and do it yourself..anxious to see photos of your sewing room.

Well even though I hate the Santa throw it’s done and hidden in the closet until comes the time I give it away.

Not sure I will go back downstairs and sew on the fishing panel, if not I’ll knit a bit..still in my nighty that Suzanne gave me Sunday, it’s so darn comfy and I’m not going anywhere,

Victoria Harbour, ON

Here we go

Nope won’t post photos

yesterday near basement coffee table I saw some kitty toys out, not surprising as Ziggy plays during the night..one looking like his little white bellied mouse so there it sat..earlier I picked up toys, omg it was a dead mouse!!

Thumbnail by Bettypauze
(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

Ziggy brought you his BEST gift, a dead mouse!! Good boy Ziggy, if only we could convince to put it in the trash!! LOL

Sam and I wrestled the storage cabinet, the 2 bookcases and got them into position. She hauled the stuff out to my car that needs to go to my sisters. Also some things to return to the store. OHhh to have young legs again!! LOL

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Betty, that quilt is beautiful. I couldn't believe the price of hamburger WOW!
Sorry to hear that you are under state of emergency. Does that mean you are confined to your home?

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

I REALLY like my CRV, I could never go back to a "car" rather than a SUV or crossover. I haul too much stuff around and love the extra space and fold down seats.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Sure wish they had kept making my model of vehicle, I could transport anything and I travelled with 3 girls and all our baggage and bought along the way, I will miss it.

Yes Lindakay as to being housebound, Greg called, he said likely I could go for walks as long as I’m on my own and masked so just maybe I’ll walk to the mail box a block away everyday to get fresh air.. I’m almost tempted to say I have the flu, Greg was going to drop in, told him no but said keep checking as I don’t want someone to find my body a week later, 😜 he said “oh mom”

Pat, you will pay for the work you did today..you will likely not move Tomorrow.

Tomorrow I’ll spend time on the fisherman throw..looked for something I could do while sitting upstairs, blocks cut to different size for a project from last year but Lordy what was I thinking of making??

What would you do??

Well Betty. This is what I did today. I wanted to post this. Now I will go to read today's posts and comment.

The above is a storage area I had built under the stairs going to the second floor. It is a great place for suitcases, golf clubs and anything else large. This all started when my daughter bought back the stroller that Eloise Grace used on her visit. This was a stroller that I purchased in San Diego for Tracy's babies. Now her babies are having babies. The stroller is still doing great.

Pat, so pleased you got your furniture moved. I know how you feel when you want something done NOW.

They announced today that the health department would have vaccines for over 70. I went on the site and they were booked through February. I will look elsewhere.

Linda, our temps will be in the low 70s for the next two days. How is your weather. Did you get some of the snow that hit Texas.

My handyman came today and did a great job. I need to order a new faucet for Vern's office sink area. So I will order that and then he will return and finish items he didn't get done today.

Tree crew will be here tomorrow to grind down stumps and then I can get startd on that area. I will take before and after photos.

I tried to get on here earlier for you Betty ut didnt make it. I will try again tomorrow.

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

I didn't really lift that much, we pushed and "walked" big stuff so I doubt I'll pay too much.

NEAT storage area! Right now I'm wishing I had more inside storage but it is what it si. The closets here are TINY. I should not complain, I have a garage and 2 small wood barns, heck of a lot more than some years.

Betty, I really like that heart print with the black hearts, different!

Victoria Harbour, ON

Very mild morning, I shushed up Ziggy at 5:30am and fell back asleep, got up at 8, have a load of wash on, cleaned junk drawer which was my today job and now I get to play.

Didn’t realize Pat you trained dogs?? Sharon just said she was looking for bells to sew into strips to hang on door to train Milan to ring them when she wants out..not sure that works but...

Will be nice to see which kit Aiden picks,

Someone on local group posted the same, started a war lol..when doesn’t start a war??

Spoke with Darlene last night, she said have you had Kentucky fried chicken??yep, 3 days in a row , she reminded me that I I should know it doesn’t agree with me since the time I spent in hospital few years ago, she just might be right..
