Happy New Year everyone!!

It was a quiet night here, I was in bed by 9pm, but usually the fireworks wake me up at midnight, not last night!

Wishing you all a happy and healthy 2021!

Verona, ON

Happy New Year everyone !!!

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

Here's hoping 2021 will be a MUCH better year for all us!!
Glen will finish up everything today and then I can start putting my sewing room back together. I can hardly wait to get in there and SEW!!! I have a quilt kit I bought about a year ago that I would like to get done and hang on the wall of the entry hall. Imagine over 11 feet of nothing but white wall. It won't look so bare and sterile with quilts hanging.

I miss all the color and seeing my frogs! Those 2 pics are what my entry USED to look like. NOW, it's just a blank white wall. It will be OK when a wall hanging or 2 and coat rack are all hung.

Happy New Year everyone..

Melanie brought over supper and she, Greg and I had a nice visit..
Hurting, just st took meds so will chat tomorrow..

Storming out..maybe I will wait till it thaws vs shovel lol

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

Waiting = good plan! Hope the meds handle the pain for you.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Afternoon,

Waiting is indeed a virtue, finding older I get more patient I’m becoming lol
Those foggiest are just too adorable..how much fun it will be to start putting your craft room back together and having a kit you can start. Any news on a date the family Will come?

Liz, watching CNN and mega talk about Covid in California, so worry about you and your family..

How are things going in all your regions?? We just had a councillor/ex policeman fall and break his hip, operated on and caught Covid in the hospital and died a few days ago...there has been Covid in a few seniors complex..truly worrisome.

Jeff called this morning, we had a nice chat

Sun was streaming through the living room window so I’ve just been napping enjoying the rays.. i need to go buy a new microwave, think I’ll look for a heating mattress cover as well, might help but that won’t be until lockdown is over, big smile, that might be spring and won’t need to cover 😅

Sharon just dropped in, thought it was really unusual to see the shovelling not done, came to bring me roast beef dinner, went to foodland to get gravy and realized ooops she forgot the roast beef..it’s ok as I have chicken strips and fries I can warm up.

Pacifica, CA

Happy new year all...
Betty were all good, its bad all over.
southern calif, has it the worse were creeping up in cases and believe me were all sick of this new way of living and yet people out here still not wearing masks and gathering. I just wish they would stop being selfish.
Aside from that just knitting scarves its sure been cold out here heater is on most of day even my cat is cold i have a electric blanket on for him too.

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

I had a headed mattress cover and loved it!! I bet its stored in the barn. I could not use it after Ben and I were married. I should see if I can find it now and put it back on the bed. I used to turn it on high, go wash my face & brush teeth, then climb in bed and shut it off. It was enough to take the chill off the sheets and allow me to warm up for sleep.

Frankly, there is no guarantee that they ARE coming. My DIL has suddenly gotten it in her head she does NOT want to move here unless they are in the process of buying land. She wanted them to drive to look at a piece of land for sale 6 hours away!!! My son is beside himself over her lack of logical thinking.

Forgot to press send last nigh so here goes..

Good news Liz that you are all OK and yes it’s frustrating when you are doing your best and people aren’t adhering to the rules. Just saw that Larry King was hospitalized with covid, at 87 life threatening for sure. Passing the time knitting helps and one can always use a scarf even in summer.one of the things I most remembered is how I had to buy a jacket when we were down at the waterfront in early September..yep even a pastime doesn’t do it, need to have human contact outside the home.

Deb, you go back to work Monday or are you on a work from home schedule.

Karen how are you doing, feeling better I hope.

Wasn’t that long ago I threw one away Pat, thing is with the electronic bed and the extra sponge type mattress I’d need a king size..hope you are able to find yours, could you when you were purging?

I can somewhat understand your DIL not wanting to move in with you, knows with a family their size it would be quite difficult.. maybe trying to avoid family stress? Have you spent a lot of time with her?

Was just watching local news, they were saying that likely doctors will continue virtual reality visits.

Comfy in bed, took my meds, trying to talk myself 8n getting up for cbd oil, wouldn’t hurt for a bit..

Almost time to get a new vehicle, 2021, the model similar to what I have is no longer manufactured so it’s either go smaller or bigger or change different manufacturer

Good morning.

Betty your last sentence doesn't make sense.

We have a king size bed and I love my heated mattress pad. I turn it on an hour before going to bed. Snuggle right in

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

Betty - did your fingers hit the wrong keys on that last sentence?

Victoria Harbour, ON

Not sure what happened there..was saying that tomorrow I will go and look at a new vehicle, they no longer carry same make, I am not excited about not buying a Chev but the only thing they have is a smaller vehicle than mine or a small suv..might go looking at other manufacturer..

I was, out, early this morning and got shovelling done that I didn’t do yesterday, came in and organized 24 projects waiting for my attention..challenge with my Sharon is 2 a month, can add extras but goal is to finish 2..

I’m working on that Floridian cartoon Santa one..goal is to have it quilted before next weekend.

It’s dull outside, kind of day to stay downstairs otherwise if I sit upstairs and see dullness I’ll just nap.

Was beautiful and sonny yesterday, including photo

Western sandwich for me..drats can’t get my head around it just being Sunday

What are you all doing,today?

P.s.

My iPad is ready for replacement, most i’s go to a number and it garbles much of typing...what are you all using..don’t know if I want to replace for a 3rd time an iPad

just kicking back & relaxing today. Work tomorrow.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Nice to be able to do that Susan..will be hard for you getting back into a routine.

I checked calendar, have hearing test tomorrow, so glad it’s not early morn8ng but at 1pm that way I don’t have to rush

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Working on motre face masks for valentines. Making the 3D style. I like how they fit.
What's wrong with your car? It's not that old. Last year we traded in our Cadillac for a dodge Durango. We have always been Chevy drivers, but I really like the Durango.
I use my desk top or my phone for computer use.

I love those prints Lindakay, they should be great sellers..

I am not sure why our Canadian fabric stores don’t carry much in the line of Valentine’s or Easter fabrics.

My car is 4 years old, that is when I normally get another..keep thinking the next will be my last

Made progress today, better than most days

Already in bed, just gabbed with mom, she got home today..pleased to be in her own bed tonight.

I need tablet of sorts, have a laptop upstairs, computer downstairs
Have a cel that is just basic, for emergency call so really need something like my apple ipas..I’ll have to ask Jeff what is as good if not better and go 8n search of one

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

Just the opposite Betty, desk top upstairs and laptop in sewing room. It's a Surface and I like it OK. I take it when we travel too. I really don't use my phone a lot.
I spent some time in sewing room sorting out what goes with which embroidery machine. The one that gave me fits is working fine now but I'll still take it in to make sure all is well before I list it. While I'm at it I think I will sell a few more machines too. They should be used to keep them in good shape and i just don't any more. I can be down to just the Bernina 930...Old Faithful, and the embroidery machine. I can sell about 5 of them. Means I'll have to get them out and make sure all are in good working order. Sigh.

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

HOLY cow Karen! Ya got a mini sewing machine shop there!! LOL It really doesn't take long though, does it? I have 1 embroidery machine, 1 high end serger & 1 "basic" sewing machine. The rest I rehomed within the last year.

I am sure that my DIL would rather NOT live here but they need to figure out how they are going to get ahead in life if they don't wish to continue to live in poverty. Education/training, sacrifice and hard work is required. There is a fine line between "help" and enabling and I am struggling to find it and maintain it. .

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

I really do Pat and no one else is interested in them so I need to rehome them while I can. Some I got just because I could and it was fun to own them, but that time is past. I've given several away to grands that are interested. My two I use I will keep and they will be someone else's problem down the road. Geeze Ii just remembered, I have three sergers. Cripe, they need to go too.

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

LOL... the number just jumped to 8 machines to down size!!

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

Change of plans, no trip out of town for Sis & I. Her husband had a bad night and she is afraid to go out of town, even with my son staying with him. We'll have to reschedule.

Her car is in the shop, she now has my car. I have their pickup truck. We know Phil can get into my car, we were not sure about the truck. I convinced her picking my car was a good plan. We might get her car back tomorrow, might not. we'll see.

Son is going to paint the trim, the door handle is in. I have a functional wall and locking door.

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

Found this handy chart today for machine embroidery.

Thumbnail by siliolegma
Victoria Harbour, ON

Morning, mild day outside, brought garbage to roadside and could hear the melting from trees and roof..very slippery, one could go skating.

Wow Karen that is a tremendous amount of machines, I’ve 6 and a serger I never use..if Covid ever ends I would so like to purchase a few straight stitch sew machines and teach a children’s sewing program, guess in the meantime could watch marketplace for one to come available.. wish you were closer.

Pat, you are going beyond trying to help to change your life, make home changes to make it easier to co exist but you can’t make them take this step, not that you are, but knowing it would help them in the long run when you see turmoil in their marriage..would be hard gong for you.

Went for my hearing test yesterday, said my hearing was above what a person my age should have so that was good news.

Dropped into car dealership, now did an appointment because of lockdown and that won’t we for a month or so..no hurry, reason I was thinking now rather than spring is because they were offering winter tires with each purchase... it can wait!

I would have to say on a scale of 1-10 the most amount of pain I’m feeling re neck, arms, legs, hips would be an 11..why it’s so bad I don’t know..was in bed around 3:30..not sure if doctor’s office is open today but sure hope so.. at least to get my name on visit list.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Meant to say I love the chart Karen..going to print

Started our January 2021 sewing thread

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

Me too Karen, I copied and pasted it into a referral section I have. My wireless printer is not responding and I am tired of fighting with it. I am going to move my printer and put direct line connection on it.

The cat has developed a new torture for me. I wake up early, I usually get dressed, put away laundry, empty dishwasher etc, eat something and then take a nap in my chair until 9AM. . Stanley will then nose, bat & wiggle until he can get one of my hands uncovered. If I ignore him, he continues to butt his face into my hand. There is NOTHING subtle about this cat!!! I can't see me going back to bed, and closing the door, so I guess I am at his mercy.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Much the same here Pat, everyone says close the bedroom door but I just can’t do, Ziggy sleeps almost all day in winter on couch downstairs so can’t see not allowing him to sleep with me, just don’t like his 5:00 wake up call.

Can’t warm up today, worked a bit sewing earlier then decided I’d watch the news, didn’t Ziggy come and lay on my tummy, had to shoo him off, he is much too heavy on my chest.

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

Stanley does fine at night, I shut the door and he leaves me alone until he sees the light under the door when I wake up (turning on the fan/light) . THEN he pulls on the door over and over and it bangs in the frame, little imp!

They have their own personalities don’t they..

Susan, look at these paint by number kits

Thumbnail by Bettypauze
Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

I moved my printer to a direct line connection. I had it wireless but every time the WiFi has a hiccup, it needs resetting. Too much a pain in the patoot.
Wireless was nice anyone in the house could print from where ever they were but.....

Victoria Harbour, ON

I had changed colour cartridge awhile back now I can’t get it to be accepted by printer from computer..will have to have someone who knows computers when they visit to check it out.

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

Those paint by numbers are GORGEOUS! Wireless is GREAT when it's working but the pits otherwise! Wish I was more techno-savy!

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Betty, who has those kits on sale?

Victoria Harbour, ON

This is one company

Dull and dreary day here again. Miss the sun !!

When I went into the village this morning a guy who parked next to me asked where did I get all the snow on the top of the Escape. I haven't been out the lane for over a week. It took me quite awhile to clean everything off. Chaos loved it as he got to get shovels full of snow in the face. He loves the snow.

Betty does Sharon get Pet Insurance for her dogs ? I am thinking of doing it with Kai. It is just so expensive at the vet's for just the basics anymore. You still can't go in with your pet.. I know someone who did have it and her dog had some expensive surgeries - she had a vet bill of over $10,000 and it was covered.

Karen I have seen stores with fewer sewing machines on display than you have.

Susan how are your bruises now ?

Chaos is here with his leash in his mouth so off I go. Nothing subtle about this dog.

Stay safe and well.

Victoria Harbour, ON

I am just sick to my stomach as I watch tv

Verona, ON

I've got caught up with the TV too Betty. I am appalled ... for shame !!! These people are anarchists not protesters.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Been watching all day..many times, heart always fills with pride even more so sometimes than that of visiting Ottawa and it is just breaking my heart..tried to get away from tv and keep returning, it has hit me like Kennedy assassination, 911, virtually sick to my stomach..

Standing united is no longer

I will as Sharon why she does not get pet insurance, she spends mega $$ on vets so there must be a reason why she does not, will ask. Is Kia now with you?
