Best/Worse/What did I Learn today? Come sit a spell, a time to chat and come together!

Morning,

It’s a winter wonderland here, spent over an hour shovelling again and trying to organize the upstairs but mom as far as I’m concerned took too many meds as she was in a tremendous amount of pain re her arms..she is off balance this morning so I told her to go lay down, guess I’ll just sit so I don’t make any noise.

Lordy it will take better part of the week to get back normal..

I’ve got the turkey carcass cooking, homemade soup might hit the spot.

Pat, regardless of the years you still feel sad,..it will be 30 years New Year’s Day Roger has passed, find myself start getting antsy.

Christmas sure bring out emotions.

What are you guys up to, a day of rest?? Have you snow?

Verona, ON

Pat Betty just posted what I was going to say about missing Ben. It has been 8 years since my guy left me but Christmas will never be the same.

I find Christmas week very hard. Not just Christmas itself but Dec 28 is my birthday and my anniversary. Always just want to curl up and wish the week away.

Still snowing here. Think I will cuddle up with Chaos and hopefully have a nap.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Hugs Dianne, is overwhelming for sure..but think the 3 of us saw hubbies in such pain that we wanted them to be at peace, that gives us a bit of piece.i sure find that the week between Christmas and New Years I want to be alone, not to be

Sharon just came and got mom for the afternoon, she spent all of 5 minutes laying in bed then wanted to drive.. I told her unless Sharon picked her up she wasn't going anywhere.

Will puddle a bit, Christmas blankets have to come off, could do that

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

No snow here. 76 this afternoon.

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

Betty, I saw this and wondered if it was anything like what you had been buying. I know NOTHING about this person or site. https://www.facebook.com/marketplace/item/566027470964820/?ref=search&referral_code=undefined the hides he had showing were sure nice... and $50? I wonder how big they are?

Ben was in LOTS of pain, and knowing he is pain-free is a huge help. It will be 11 months in a just a few days. I can't believe that. Betty 30 years? You lost Roger so young!!! 8 years.... I guess one of us has to go first. It's hard.

Victoria Harbour, ON

That Hyde looks really good, has Depew contact..thanks, might have to research it..think my days of doing them is over.. yes, I was 43 and he was 48..so long ago yet seems like yesterday.

Awww 76 is perfect weather, nice to have that come winter but not so much in the summer when it is over 100 lol

Managed to get all the Christmas bedding off the beds..tmr I’ll wash them and put them 8n the air bags..

I need a few more totes and then tape but they tell me because being in grey zone might not be able to get what I need as it will be online shopping pickup..don’t like it

Well it’s off to bed

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

I did not even marry Ben until I was 51, 2 years divorced after 28 years of a miserable marriage.

Las Vegas, NV(Zone 9a)

I had a wonderful Christmas. All my daughter's children were home for the first time in 3 years. Had two grand son-in-law and first great grand daughter, Eloise Grace. We all have been very careful and felt safe. So we shall see how it all goes. I usually do not eat that much but I paid for a beautiful prime rib and crab fo those that do not eat meat. Home made sourdough bread and I stuffed myself. They invited me over for dinner for left overs and I told them I did not think I would be eating for at least a few more days.

Vern always loved my music boxes and that was difficult bringing them out. Because every time I bring them out, I wind them up and listen to them. And we always listened to Nat King Cole's Christmas album. But the smaller children in the neighborhood brought me hand made Christmas cards and different cookies and peppermint bark candy. They were so sweet, it was adorable.

I was going to remove the decorations from the tree in the back landscape tomorrow but it is suppose to rain. Grandsons will come over Tuesday to put away Christmas. Nothing planned for New Years Eve except opening both front door and back door and let 2020 slip through the house and out of my life.

I have had few problems in 2020 but so many individuals have lost everything or someone that we must hurry 2020 out of here for their sake.

I am so much more relaxed since I decided not to sale and move. I am still cleaning and purging. Maybe in two years I will look to moving again.

Betty, you need to find someone to help you with the shoveling of snow. I know what you mean at about being alone. I had a wonderful time with thr family last night but I was ready for quiet.

Pat, you are a brave woman driving in that area at night. My son lives in Spokane and he said no way would I be driving at night.

Susan, glad you had a wonderful Christmas.

Karen, you need to check in and let us know how the wedding was. And your trip.

Linda, your weather sound wonderful. Our high today was 54 and cloudy. I read in the paper today that your area is having a hard time because of Covid.

Diane, When do you get your new puppy? Read any good books lately?

What are we all going to do January 2nd. Get ready for the spring? I so want Covid to be gone so I can do some traveling. But probably not as much as Betty does.

Back home and it seems my DG is working again. Don't know what the problem was, but glad it's gone.
Wedding was as nice as it could be under the circumstances. After other family left, We had Christmas with grands and greats. All liked their bath wraps. We left then and went to son's. Christmas there with them was fun. We went by another grands house. did not go in just met at front door. They are expecting in June so we did not want to take any chances with them. Girls loved their wraps, Clara just wore hers the rest of the day.
Home today. I need to get to sleep but I'm still feeling the car motion. Arg!

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

So happy to hear the wedding was great success and that you are home Karen.

Sharon, I am pleased to hear you are satisfied and content with your decision to post pone any decision to sell. Sounds like you have made the right choice. Like you said, you can revisit that decision at a later date. Might be the right decision then, might not again!

Victoria Harbour, ON

Afternoon everyone, had rain this morning, went and shovelled up slush to as the temperature started dropping I wouldn’t have a rink..now snowing, dark skies so more on its way. Am sure everyone was thrilled with the treasures you made.

Karen, bet you are tired, how many hours drive?

Sharon, love Nat King Cole, Christmas music songs he recorded are so soothing.
Nicenthat you had your family for Christmas. As for January 2nd. Guess i will be doing same as today, not til late April can I start thinking about the gardens. Walked through the back this morning when I was looking for my car roof snow shovel and thought how they are sleeping soundly, what beauty lies beneath the snow.

Mom is restless today, gathering her things as she intends of going to spend 3-4 days with Aunt Muriel, which day she goes back to the city will depend on weather..trying to talk her into getting snow tires before she leaves but no go.

Dianne, are you getting snow? And yes when does the puppy arrive..Sharon’s puppy Milan chewed her Christmas tree cord this morning..last week Paris chewed her slippers.

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

Betty the trip takes us 10-12 hours depending on traffic, weather and how many stops we need to make. Both of us need quite a few.
Hand appt. with hand surgeon this morning. Very happy he said he can fix both hands at once at the procedure is quick. I'd just as soon have it all over with at once.
Tomorrow, I go get another bag of rust and then I have a couple weeks free to sew time. I know I left a mess down there to be dealt with first. Probably take most of a day to sort it all out. I want to give the other machine a check over so I can take it in for a repair.

Victoria Harbour, ON

You don’t do it in one day then..
Yes, my machines also need servicing
Wow, 2 hands at once?? How long will you have for healing before you can use them..

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

Dr. said will be pretty sore, like a deep cut for a couple days and then as long as I didn't get them wet at all I could do what ever. Even if it takes longer, it will be such a relief from the daily pain and dropping things, that it will be well worth it to me.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Glad to hear you had a good trip Karen. Get some rest.

Happy birthday Dianne. Hope you had an awesome day.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Belated birthday wishes Dianne, so sorry I missed posting it...head in same!!

Karen, anything that stops the pain, regardless of healing time..then watch you go

Probably got 3” of light snow, was out doing a bit of shovelling and getting garbage to roadside, climbed back in bed as no to wake mom. Watching cnn and the Nashville bombing..so love that city.. you just don’t know what is in people’s minds to do such things.

Sharon’s Milan

If.not snowing much more than it is now am sure mom will go to aunt Muriel’s, if so I’ll spend my day cleaning and organizing craft room, need to know where my things are before I can can get the urge to sew.

Thumbnail by Bettypauze
Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

That's what i need to do too Betty. I know it's a mess down there between all the sewing and Christmas wrapping. Cannot start something new until old mess is gone.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Mom just left, almost felt like I was saying here is your bags what is the hurry but I got recycling out, got back into bed (don’t want to make that a habit) shaking my head no!!!

Got cars started and snow off the vehicles and let them run, did the decks, and walkways then the path to back shed.li keep doing that until all the totes have been set on shelves so hopefully by tomorrow that part will be behind me.

So I will call this a clean up week, will take me til the weekend for sure to be back in order... at least it being Covid not likely anyone will drop in and see the mess, always a mess when you are clean8mg right?

Since Roger died on New Years and I’m always in a slump I always look around at what I’d like to see done during the year, am sure I’ll have a mile long list, much I will come across while I clean house.

Must look for the air bags to set the quilts in, not sure where I hid those lol
Might have to buy new ones.

Not sunny out but nice enough to go to town to pick the tape for totes and a few misc things..should go to bank but likely l8ne ups will be terrible so I’ll keep that for an early morning task.

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

it's sunny here. Bob's gone to Three Hills with our friend Naomi, to help her pick out a winter coat from the 2nd hand store.

Work's going well, my bumps & bruises are healing nicely, Naomi's coming for New Year's dinner.
My daughter Michelle & her adorable hubby got us a paint by number on canvas - she thinks we need stuff to do during lockdown hahaha It's a lovely picture. Two paintbrushes & ones as thin as a toothpick, which is good because some of the places to paint are TINY!
Going to the PO today - apparently there is a part Two to our gift from them.

Verona, ON

Thanks for the birthday wishes. I appreciate it. Christmas birthdays are often overlooked. When I was growing up I was always told we spent more on your Christmas present and it is for your birthday too. When you are a kid that's really disappointing. Mom always made me an angel food cake.

Sun is shining here. I'm just back from a walk with Chaos and am all sweaty. it is so warm out. Snow on the way for tomorrow.

Be still my heart - I love the photo of Milan. Boy he is a looker !!

Glad you are home safe and sound Karen. When is the surgery ? I am sure you told us but I am too lazy to scroll back and see.

Frank a long time friend brought Chinese food for dinner last night. Last year we had Greek. Frank taught with Warren back in the 80's.

Enjoy your day ladies.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Paint by number, now that brings back memories Susan..sounds like fun..now I would not have thought of something like that..know my mom would have loved one but her arms are so bad she can’t even do word puzzles because circling words is too difficult. Wonder what is in the next parcel?? Lol
Glad you are feeling better.

Yummy Dianne, went to town and was tempted to go to Chinese restaurant and bring home a treat, didn’t and now I’m sorry I didn’t.

Jeff was December and Greg New Year’s Day, we made a point of making their birthdays special..always told greg everyone celebrates his

Milan is a little SHE devil, Sharon is thinking she just might make her a show girl, take over from Inuk.

Think Ziggy is enjoying having no other pet in the house, Bella moms dog and Ziggy tolerate each other but that is it.

Nice you have Frank to drop in from time to time..great to go through memories.

Well I filled those 5 totes with quilts/Xmas pillows and they are already in back shed..they are light and I found my sleigh so was easy..glad they had it turquoise as it will be easy to find next year.

Was at $$$ store for all the tape, think I was the only one in there, girls were setting out valentines, told them they are enticing me to find my Valentine’s Day totes 😜

Walmart was much the same, quiet for Walmart..Lordy I am lucky to have gotten the totes I did, they were almost out unless you wanted high end totes $20+

They were stocking up, was quite surprised that 2 ladies were stoking sewing supply aisles..yippee, wonder how long those supplies will last

Well I ate a few sweets and had a coffee this morning, that is all I’ve eaten.not a wonder my tummy is saying I am hungry..

decided I did a lot these past few days and the main cleaning can wait until after all totes have been taped and put in back shed then I can do my january ‘daily to do task jar’ and start fresh.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Milan is beautiful.

Looks like you have done quite a bit of work Betty.

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

paint by number on canvas nonetheless! Not the cardboard pics I remember.

Victoria Harbour, ON

I have Lindakay, just got into bed..meds and salve hopefully will do their job.

Susan, not sure where nut I think like needlepoint you can send a photo and they send you canvas with markings and paint..you will have to take photo of the before then the finished..is it something to look into!

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

Second bag of rust today. It was an ordeal as veins decided to be really difficult. 5 stabs and much ramming around in my arms trying to get a line in. I try to drink a lot ahead of time so I'm well hydrated. Usually all the stabs don't bother me much as I'm used to it being difficult but today for some reason I was extra sensitive and ended up very teary and shaky.

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

Diane, my best friend's birthday is 12/26 and I make it a habit of buying one of her gifts by June just so I know I'll have both her bday & Christmas gift mailed out in time. I dont' want to overlook her Bday.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Morning from stormy Victoria Harbour,

Pat my goddaughter is December 26th as well, she decided as a child that she wanted to change her birthday to summer which she did..

Waiting for Andrew to plow then I can move my car and get entrance to back deck and basement done..

Hot chocolate and peppermint sure tastes good this morning.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Good morning.
Our weather has been really nice high 70s during the day, maybe 40 at night. But we have a cold front coming through this afternoon, and the weather liars are saying we might get snow. Kind of looking forward to it, as I know it won't last long if it does.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Bet it would be a thrill for you Lindakay seeing it’s rare..understand top of Florida’s is getting in the 70’s.. what are you working on?

Got all my shovelling done, wind seems to have died down, no blizzard right now, I’ll have to call and see if Andrew is ok..he has been fighting cancel last few years and it’s so rare he hasn’t been here yet.l I shovelled everything into the drive so here is hoping .. not urgent for another day or so, maybe his brother will come.

8 more totes to tape and get to back shed then it’s downstairs I go..that room seems overwhelming right now but I am sure by tonight it will be in showroom condition lol

How are you feeling Karen?

Deb, you back at work?

Ooh Andrew just came, I thought it was last year they thought he wouldn’t make it but he says September will mark his 3rd year stem cell procedure..he does look good.

He says the way I’ve been making a mini parking area at bottom of back deck allows him to so easily clean.. hurrah for me

Back to the totes

northeast, IL(Zone 5a)

Happy Belated Birthday, Dianne!!

I'm off work this week, and my plan was to do some cleaning and organizing, so far that's not working out real well! I've done some shopping, went out to lunch with an old friend from work. It's been fun, but, I really need to get some cleaning done!

Victoria Harbour, ON

Well likely you needed the rest Deb..
Sometimes 1/2 our energy is spent trying to talk ourselves into doing something..

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

I am working on more masks for the quilt shop as well as using the long arm at the quilt shop to quilt her customers quilts. I have done 3 in the past few weeks, and have 2 more to do after the new year. I really love using the long arm.

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

That's awesome Linda, looks like you may have found a new niche.

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

I gave in and paid to have the painting done. I just could not get myself to do it. I have been reading and sitting with a hot pad for days. My back and neck were talking overtime, letting me know that painting by ME, was not happening. We still expect for everything but electrical to be done by this Friday.

Betty, I don't know how you haul all those totes out by yourself. I am in awe.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Morning, was sunny this morning but storm is brewing..I believe next 3-4 days we will have storms..I got shovelling done, put last 5 totes in back shed and now going through mail while I have a chicken finger dinner from next door.. hoping to put paperwork/flyers I don’t need along with the cardboard cores of all the tape and wooden pieces I cut out just before Christmas and burn before snow comes.

Decided because I have all that extra Hyde that I can spend time knitting..also have 3 hand towels to embroider golf club/names on, Darlene and Johns quilt to finish so doesn’t matter re weather.

Pat, not easy doing totes, sitting here on heating pad as well, we are far too hard on ourselves, glad that you are having someone do the painting and a relief for you knowing work should be right on target..you deserve a rest, sit and enjoy..

speaking of totes. I brought in Valentine’s Day and st Patrick day totes in so I won’t worry about getting them in as I will no longer shovel pathway.

Lindakay, now won’t that be wonderful if you can do some l9ng arm quilts for her and get to do yours in exchange..so many different masks out there I don’t make them anymore.. in fact when I was cleaning back bedroom I found a dozen sitt8ng on a shelf, put them 8n a drawer just incase they are needed.

Think I will surf the web today for a Valentine’s Day throw..should have enough fabric, I’d enjoy doing something for me. Sharon gave me bits of fabric to cut out for her gog throws, that will be evening work, anything to keep me busy.

Not going to ask what everyone is doing for New Year’s Eve, am sure everyone will be quiet.

Tomorrow Greg will be 52 and Roger will have died 30years ago (seems like yesterday)

Think zigged is bored watching me eat..lol

Thumbnail by Bettypauze
Victoria Harbour, ON

Glad I will not have to shovel pathway to back shed, doesn’t look it but it’s quite a way at the back..cleaned my tool room, filled 3 big bags of cutting and made a fire..sitting my fanny on a heating pad trying to talk myself into doing something but might just do NOTHING..

It is quiet here. No fireworks tonight as the weather turned cold and rainy. We had snow for about an hour, but the rain melted it all. Praying it doesn't freeze.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Happy new year everyone.

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

Happy New Year. Will be quiet here and probably bed soon.

Las Vegas, NV(Zone 9a)

Happy New Year.

My garden helper was here today and we reviewed what I wanted to start in the front where I removed the very large Sumac tree. He told me he did not agree with my idea and I told him it is a good thing it is not his garden.

Dogs got groomed today. I cleaned the work bench in the garage and then cleaned out three drawers attached to the bench. I sat in a chair while I cleaned out the drawers. Then had helper put items away where they belonged that were in the drawers by mistake. That helped a lot because I did have to cross the garage many many times.

My daughter is 59 on the 2nd of January.

I do not have the TV on. Just going to find something on Netflix. Turned cold and windy here this afternoon and garden helper took the dogs for their afternoon walk. That again was a great help.

Three grandsons are coming over tomorrow to help pack up and put Christmas away for one more year.

First photo is a gift from Landscape company that does the HOA. I am their liaison with the board. Second photo is Christmas lilies and red roses I purchased at Trader Jo's.

Hugs to you all.
