kinda sounds like she is blaming us "old people" for the Covid problems, huh? LOL
Wasaga Beach where my brother lives had a car drive and people swarmed the streets, no masks..didn’t see over 70 crowd..know a politician talked about herding, guess this person is suggesting much the same
Dianne, have your rain..
Cat story.....My sister and BIL were having a house built in a new area. Theirs was one of the first built. As it was getting done a cat started hanging around and of course my sister started feeding it. By the time they moved in so did the cat, but he still liked going out. Months later my sis was coming home from work and close to their sub. she saw her cat. It had been hit and was dead. She went home, got a box and towel and went to bring him home. Her daughter and boyfriend were there by that time and helped her to bury the cat with much sobbing. Just as they finished and were walking into the house, her cat came around the corner of the house. She had very kindly buried a stranger.
LOL... you know, in looking for Stanley, and reading all the posts for lost and found cats, Stanley is a VERY common looking kitty!!! Except for his clipped ear, there were LOTS of cats and kittens that could have passed for his twin!
Imagine their relief to know THEIR cat was alive!!!
Morning, rained all night so I listened for the pumps but dozed off, looked this morning and no water in the basement so I’m a happy camper.think more rain is on its way.
I was looking at the Victoria Harbour site this morning, photo of a missing kitty, would be difficult to tell Ziggy from it so can understand the heartbreak of having to bury your kitty then finding it was a different one..how thrilled they must have been. Seems every time I go on community news site there are more cats missing..something is amuck.
Pat called, her hubby George was going for Covid test this morning to get clearance before he goes to the hospital for tests non Covid related so she though it would be best she stay home...would be nice if June called and said she would not come as well..oh well it’s only for a few hours then I can get back to my todays ‘to do’ easy cleaning item, dusting my bedroom.
Speaking of to do’s think I’ll make a list for thanksgiving dinner, few things boys could help me with, thank goodness panel’s are up in back deck, that was the most worrisome... we’ve often had snow in October so best be prepared.
Just finished my coffee, time to head downstairs, I’ve a 1/4 load of wash to do then it’s play day!
I worked in the back landscape for the last two days. Had my garden helper here to help me. Looks great for a day or two.
Tomorrow I am going shopping for food supplies for my son and his family. Should be interesting shopping for food and actually cooking. His wife loves my chopped salad. So that is time consuming but easy. I was going to throw some pork riblets in the instapot and then some green beans. Good to have two bowls for one instapot. My sons family are not fussy eaters, so it will not be difficult.
Our weather has cooled but still in mid 90s. But nights are down in low 70s. Perfect at night.
Betty, did you ever hear from the individuals that were suppose to do something with the drain system near your property.
Have a fantastic Wednesday. Hugs.
Linda, didn't you say you had some of the masks in the shop for sale? Or was it one of the ladies on this site? those are sure beautiful lace masks.
Overcast here with sprinkles from t8me to time so I brought all my outdoor cushions in, think I will store them for the winter.
Bet you are getting excited Sharon, am sure they will all lend a hand. Mega hands sure make the heavier parts of gardening easier...was 68F in here when I woke this morning, furnace is on..
Hungry, but then I’ve been up since 5, watched tv during night and couldn’t fall back to sleep so I will have left over chicken souvlaki then try and have a nap.
Have been productive, did a fall table topper, cut another child’s activity totes, did 3 yesterday and would love to finish gnome bench pillow
I just totally love your owl & kitty pillow! I just don't seem to have the energy to change the decor stuff for the seasons so I rarely make or buy it. That said, I did have my helper take my bright floral wreaths down & bring in my fall wreaths & scarecrow. That's about as fall/ Halloween as I'll get.
I do have the BIG wall hanging that I will hang AFTER Kevin's girlfriend has come & gone this weekend. No sense offending her with my Halloween wall hanging. I took down the cute dragon shower curtain & bought & hung a brown & turquoise one with turquoise towels & rug. I also went ahead and bought a teal & gray turquoise comforter set for the quest room. I'm still holding out hope that I can have the room ready for Saturday. If not, oh well. It is not like I don't have a guest room that is ready. I just hoped to have Kev's old room complete. Last I knew they were undecided if they were driving here & back the same day. Probably depends on how comfortable Gloria and 4 YO daughter with their visit. Considering they have been dating 11 months and I have met her ONCE.
When I am done with the quilt tops I am making, I will replace the teal& gray comforter. I will give that comforter to my Daughter-in-Law Carrie. She will love it and it will go with all the "chippy" teal furniture she has in her guest room.
I was on a roll today. Got a LOT done, small projects and more sorting & cleaning. I have hired some help to clean house Friday morning to relieve some of the stress of preparing for company. that frees me up to continue to my projects.
My daughter took me to Trader Jo's, Costco and Dillards. Purchasedt a whole lot of food and got myself two new pair of jeans and 4 new tops. And the best is two very soft, thick socks. I will be so happy when the cold shows up.
I will have a lot of food to give the guards or someone after Todd and his family leave. I purchased way to much, but no one will go hungry and that is the way my mother raised me.
I need to get in bed because I have a big day tomorrow. I will check in tomorrow morning. Hugs.
LOL... do you ever wish you could cook the RIGHT amount? I mean, some left (to show you had plenty) but not so darn much that 2 or 3 times as many people could have eaten WITH leftovers?? If you figure that out Sharon, PLEASE teach me!
Big problem for me too Pat. We usually had extra living with us so I only know how to cook "big". Didn't used to be a problem as my guys were good with leftovers. No one else will eat them here, it gets tossed to the chickens after being in fridge a few days. Hubby and I will eat them but can only do so much. It's to the point where I seldom cook anymore. I'm OK with that over 60 years of planning and cooking meals was enough.
Afternoon all, had called for rain but sun is shinning...
Sharon and I went to Barrie for a few supplies, regardless of how much craft/sewing supplies I have seem I always need more.
Michael’s just out some of their Christmas supplies, I needed a tad of greenery to finish the 4 snowman hats I’m making, yikes $29.99 for one spring of greenery, yes 30% off coupon but still mega dollars.
As for cooking girls, i’m up on the top for over cooking..there will be 7 of us here for Thanksgiving and I have plans for 8 different pies..lol Sharon, my grandmother was much same, always said ‘make sure nobody goes home hungry” and I don’t..Roger always cooked for an army as well...
runs in the family I guess, Sharon same shopping with me this morning and she gave me a large container of Shepards pie so no cooking for me tonight.
Tomorrow I will get all the extra’s I need for next weekend’s Sunday meal, cannot have more than 10 people so limited and cannot invite the world like I usually do. Big sigh
Karen, I usually enjoy left overs more than the day they meal is cooked, to me better tasting most times...glad you do not have the chore of cooking..when do you leave for the north? Is your friend who is fighting Covid doing better?
When I was at Lens Mills they had a jar of pain salve for $20, decided to try it as the jar with cbd in it is $100..here is hoping.
Watching CNN while working on my project, was just saying Covid in Europe has a sharp increase..worry about Braedon.
Back to my projects
Sunny now but it rained heavily overnight and into early morning. It's 61* - still shorts and bare feet time for me.
Even after 8 years I still when I cook do it for a cast of thousands. So I think Sharon your answer is you will probably make more than you need for quite awhile. Some weeks I don't cook at all and just eat up leftovers from the freezer. You might be on to something Betty - my mom always cooked lots "just in case" someone might stop in while we ate.
Stay safe and well.
When it was just hubby and I up north, I didn't mind. We would have our favorites or go out. When tomatoes were in season, we would eat BLTs almost every day. Meat loaf was made mostly so we could have leftovers in sandwiches.
When the family would come up we cooked in prodigious amounts as would often be upwards of 30 to eat including drop ins. They were mostly raised by me so I knew what they liked.
Good morning everyone..Rainey day here so I’m thinking of staying in my Jammie’s and playing!
Mom bought me 2 boxes of that ore cooked bacon and with Sharon giving me tomatoes yesterday I’m thinking a BLT would go well with my coffee.
Karen, have a sage trip north and hope wedding goes well..will it be held outside because of Covid?
Am thinking although I need groceries it is not a must that I go to town so might just stay in Jammies and go tomorrow. Painting snowbanks on Christmas ornament, guess I know what is coming lol
They are lovely Linda Kay, not a wonder they are selling it.
Sharon was telling me that there was a fabric shop in collingwood, don’t know how I missed that so maybe tomorrow morning if they’re open we might take a run it’s about an hours drive but it would make a nice fall drive seeing all the colours near blue Mountain ski Lodge
Cut up my panel, now to sew it back uplol
those painted Christmas balls are GORGEOUS!! I don't think they would look good with my all my PINK ornaments! It would like I wasn't hosting a baby shower. I would LOVE to have a closer look at the process. Betty, do you think you could make thread with the step by step? Or at least from where you are, to close up of finished project?
I will look for another call so we can start with step one
Good morning everyone.
It's Marilyn Stephenson's birthday today!
Sorry I haven't been around much, but I have some exciting news - I got a JOB! I sart Monday, and it will double my income, minus $8k for taxes, so this is a good thing. It's also work I love, for a person who works out of her home about 10 min drive away!
One thing it will do is organize my day - when you have a set schedule, you have to get other things done in the rest of the day, no ifs ands or buts!
It's Monday, Wed, Thurs, from 10-4:30. It leaves Tues & Friday when I do volunteering.
On this Friday after I do the Games afternoon, Bob & I are going to a B&B to celebrate our 22nd anniversary 😍
Otherwise, I'm keeping busy, and enjoying life.
(Naughty Stanley!!!)
Congratulations on the job Susan. Extra income is always nice.
Happy birthday "M". Have a wonderful day.
Congratulations on the job, Susan!!
Beautiful masks, LK. I can see why they sell out so quickly!!
Happy Birthday, M!!
How exciting is that Susan, textural $$ are a plus and it being 3 days a week a bonus. Happy anniversary..
“M” hope your special day was filled with happiness...
For we Canadians look at Algonquin park..
Did my groceries, have everything for thanksgiving except potatoes, don’t know how I missed that on my list. Sat and got snow hats decorated and the wooden sign that you can enter how many days til Christmas..
Somebody posted you can make a primitive pumpkin by cooking it in the oven all night at 200f..watch me not be able to sleep as I will be checking it to see it hadn’t turned to mush and all over my oven lol
Between the menthol salve I just put on hip and neck and pumpkin i covered with cinnamon it smells good in here...
Thanks for the birthday wishes .. had a good day, we are putting away all the outdoor furniture for winter storage. Lorna has purchased a chipper shredder and is busy taking up evergreens along the driveway then making them into mulch .. looks wonderful .. she is a worker that girl, and, she loves it .. just feel bad as she can't go visit her Mom in Bradford due to all this Covid business, and, her Mom is losing ground mentally re her dementia.
Again thanks :-)
~M~
Sorry to hear about Lorna mom not doing well. This virus has put so much on hold.
Lorna certainly is a worker, terrible this Covid
She is in a complex now? Lorna must be devastated.
That is not much of a birthday, working away but better now than in the snow. It rained all week so hoping to get mine done this week.
Ohh forgot the photo re Algonquin Park
Bad memory, was laying in bed after putting pumpkin in oven and went back and read directions, ooops forgot I had to fill it with tinfoil, was starting to soften already but I was able to set some tinfoil in it lol
poor Lorna - she must be devastated.
Thanks for the congrats - looking forward to my first day, on Monday 😊
Morning, it’s a cool fall day, a wet one at that and more to come til Thursday so I will continue to play inside.
You will do just fine Susan.
Ooh my pumpkin is still standing, not sure he is fry enough to come out of oven yet but he is getting leather like..
Well before I get into the ornaments I’m going to bake a cake.
I have a pumpkin from the garden, but it must have crossed with a spaghetti squash. It's speckled lol I brought it in, and will see what it does, for ripening.
That looks pretty spooky. Is it what it is supposed to look like?

Susan, your work schedule sounds about perfect!! Not TOO MANY hours, but worth working. Like you said, the schedule helps keep us on task and actually get MORE done.
My son, GF & Daughter have left, I almost have the house put back together, It was a good visit. I think Gloria & I both felt pretty comfortable. I bought a dress for daughter Karina but it had a sequin applique on it and she was uncomfortable. I am going to line it and give it back to her.
I did not get the reclaimed bedroom done in time but the bonus was I had Kevin's help assembling the metal raised bedframe & moving the mattress on. I had to wait for the paint to dry, to move the mattress, so the room is not finished. On the whole I am pleased. Once I got the curtain up, I learned that I did NOT want a black headboard, it would be too much. I am CLOSER to done....
Later today my SIL comes and we lay out the jean quilt so we can start sewing. Stephen's BDAY is 10/25 so we should be fine.
But first.. a nap!
